Windows live - HTC Excalibur

Does anyone know how to delete/remove Windows Live in Messaging folder? For some reason, the Delete link is grayed out..
thanks in advance!

Can't do it
Windows Live is part of the ROM. About all you can do is remove it from the today screen and delete the shortcut.

Windows Live in Messaging
I think he is referring to the Windows Live account in Outlook. I didn't see it until I set up my Hotmail account. I removed mine by opening a registry editor, and browsing to HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Inbox\Svc. Here you should see a key called "Windows Live". You can delete this key, or you can go into this key and look for a REG_DWORD value called "UserCannotCreate". If you change the value from "1" to "0", and exit the editor, the delete option should no longer be grayed out. This worked for me.

I rebooted, and Windows Live came back, plus this setting flipped back. Ugh. Anyone figure out how to nuke it permanently?

Hi does anyone know of a registry hack to change the left soft 'contacts' button in the phone app. I'd like to change it so it doesnt open the default contacts app but a contacts program of my choosing.
Many thanks.

you can try the attached .txt document, plus a few more tweaks you may be interested, as well.
Please read very carefully and be cautious not to mess up your ppc.

What you want is called SoftKey Applet, filename is: SoftKeyAppletEx.cpl
Or depending on what you want to do you can download Taskmanager v2.7. Kill poutlook.exe(windows folder) and replace it with whatever .exe you want controlled by that softkey. Just rename the exe you want to poutlook. If it still gives you a read-only error kill cprog.exe also and just repeat the above steps.

Hide SIM Contacts and disable SMS Confirmation?

Hi all,
Was wondering, is there an app like there was a fit4cat for hermes which will let me disable SMS sent confirmations on my Orbit? Also, any way at all to stop SIM card contacts appearing when i go to my contact list, i only want the phone contacts appearing there (but dont want to delete contacts off my SIM).
Thanks in advance
Yes there it for both, this one for hide SIM contacts. the other you have do some searching or registry hacking
Thanks very much, that's just what i needed, contact list was getting far too long with both showing
Thanks
Open up notepad, copy the stuff below into it and save as a .reg file instead of a text file. That'll disable the sms sent notification for you
Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Inbox\Settings]
"SMSNoSentMsg"="1"
Hide SIM contacts
I tried the patch but I still see the SIM contacts in my pocket informant 2007.
Somebody would know how to hide them?

There is an option in the Contacts View settings "Show Non-Native Contacts" which is set to YES. Uncheck that and Contacts should ignore the SIM contacts.

Hi,
The registry bit did not exist in my XDAII, I have WM5 with standard XDAII O2 ROM. Mine is HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Inbox\SVC\SMS - there is no Settings folder. I created it and still got nowhere. What do I do please?
show sim contacts again
once you've hidden the SIM contacts using this app is there a way you can get them back if you want to see them again?
Thanks
Disable the SMS Sent notification
Regisrty: HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Inbox\Settings\
Key: SMSNoSentMs (decimal)
Default: 0 (on)
New Value: 1 (off)
Note: Please note that the 'Settings' key may not exist in your device, and thus may have to be created first.
Is there any way to hide the SIM in contacts on a locked HTC Touch? It should be an option not a reg hack. What a stupid idea. Why do I need to see my contacts twice?
I should mention that I have used PHM RegEdit and the hide sim cab file above which both work great, until I restart my phone.
found it here...thanks.

WM6 Default Messaging Path?

I've looked and looked, and searched...I guess I'm missing it. Does anyone knoe the default path for the Messaging "app" in wm6 for my launcher? I'd like to be brought to the screen where I can choose the account to send from. Thanks in Advance!
*bump* - Anyone?
If I'm posting a dumb question that's answered elsewhere just let me know that...
*oops...double post...*
FWIW, you SHOULD be able to use the topmost left button (with the envelope on it) to access the screen you're describing in one easy step. You should also be able to find it in the Start Menu, listed as Messaging.
Shortcuts in my version (Custel 2.5) show the executable as MSINBOX, but that's not an application name ... just a system label, of sorts. Maybe somebody else can id the actual file for you.

im confused by what your asking - you want it to, when you open Messaging, to give you the choice of which account?
Menu > Tools > Options > CHECK: Display account picker when opening messaging
and once youve opened it, hit the left and right, or keep tapping messaging to cycle through accounts - and the account is displayed in the top left taskbar
if thats not what you were asking, elaborate on what youre looking for and ill give my inputt

Not sure about the account selection screen, but for exec and command line options: \windows\tmail.exe -service, -cc, -bcc, -transport, -to, -subject, -body, -attach
eg. "\Windows\tmail.exe" -service "SMS" -to "" -subject "" -body ""
If you just open messages, it will open the account selector. SO just find the shortcut for that (which is in Windows and the exe is tmail.exe) then it should go there. Good luck!

\windows\tmail.exe for the win!!! Thanks everyone Guess I should have explained I was looking for the executable name as opposed to the path...
thx again!

Email links open in IE and not Opera?!

Guys
Recently I've noticed that links in emails etc open in Internet Explorer as opposed to Opera. I'm running stock ROM, unbranded TP2 and have not altered any setting knowingly pertaining to the browser. Anyone got any ideas? I hate IE with a passion and dont want to see it anywhere?!
Update - Solution was setting the mime type handlers in registry to \windows\OperalL.exe %1
Did this for http and https.
Where can i find that registry.
Can you please be more clear
HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\urlfile\Shell\Open\Command
Change to value to \windows\OperalL.exe %1
Negative - that didn't work.
HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT
navigate to http, Shell, Open, Command
set Default key to \windows\OperaL.exe
Repeated the above for https key.

Funny, my method did the trick for me, on my TP2 the http and https keys were already set to opera....

Messaging App Disappeared

I've searched and searched and cannot find anyone with a similar problem.
My MS Messaging App has disappeared. If I go to Start, All Programs, there is no app called "Messaging." I'm pretty sure it was there before as I think I used it to set up custom signatures in two of my email accounts. I think this missing app is also the one that allows me to save e-mail attachments on my SD card. Everything else is working fine except I cannot change my signatures, nor can I delete an email account. I still have a program called "E-mail," which takes me to the in box of an email program. I still have an app called "Mail Setup," which allows me to 'choose a mail provider' to set up a new email account. But I no longer have a program called "Messaging." I have a subdirectory called "Messaging" in the "Windows" folder, but no executables in this folder or anywhere else I can think of, certainly not in Windows/Start Menu.
I've only done a few tweaks and added a few programs to my Verizon TP2. I did some reg edits to unlock and remove some of the locked icons/programs (Contacts, Calendar, Settings) in the Manila Start Menu (since I'm using these tabs don't need them on the Start/Programs menu. Also installed Slingbox mobile, Google Maps/Search, youtubeplay, PHM reg editor, and I think that's about it. Email and everything else works fine. Am I losing my mind or shouldn't there be a "Messaging" app?
i have a "Messaging" and its basicly the account picker, is that what your looking for?
If i click on its properties its shortcut is pointing to
Code:
":MSINBOX" ?"\Windows\MPI_ProgramIcons.dll,-123
Try duplicating a shortcut from \windows\start menu\programs and editing its shortcut to that. But your icon might be different since i'm on a custom rom where the chef might have edited his dll's

Thanks for your response. Near as I can tell (from File Explorer), I do not have a file entitled anything like "Windows\MPI_ProgramIcons.dll,-123". Just as well, I guess, 'cause I'm also not sure how I would edit a shortcut of another file. I'm no programmer, just a bit of a hack trying to customize my phone a little bit.
