I have Xperia with Opera browser and I am unable to run google maps. If I visit their page the maps never load. I tried to see the maps using IE too but without success? Do you have any idea where may be the problem? Thanks
opera mini can't view complex pages, it's made for quick internet searching of easy framework sites (like xda-developers)
if you want google maps use the windows mobile program it's free.

Yes, I have the windows mobile software and it is working fine. When I need to see only the maps or use them for navigation, it is great solution. However, there are some websites which use google API to show some points of interests using google maps. These points of interest cannot be seen using the windows software. An example of such site is geocaching.com where is possible to see the map of the geocaches. This is possible to see only using the browser.
I don't know if a direct solution exists, but I'd recommend using a geocaching app in concert with gmaps. See here for such an app. Hope this helps.
Have you tried Opera Mobile?
Try SkyFire. its notg as smooth as opera when fliping a page but it displays the pages identicali to pc. runs flash video in the page itself.
I've purchases a HTC Desire from the UK. When I search using the search box from the browser I always get UK results from Google.
Is there a way to change this to default to Australian search results?
Thanks,
Marat
Hello,
I have a Telus Desire HD, still stock and untouched. I'm waiting for some more support, etc before I root it.
My problem is that when I press the Search capacitive key, and use the "Search Anywhere" application that launches to search the web, %20 is placed instead of spaces, for example:
I type in: Desire HD XDA
In google results, it would show: Desire%20HD%20XDA
And it does affect the results, I get weird pages when that shows up, and I end up having to fix it by editing what the search bar shows is written on the google mobile website, or by just using the Internet app to google search instead of using the search button.
The thing is, very rarely, it does search correctly, without adding the %20 in between spaces, so I'm not sure what causes it
Thanks again for your time.
Anyone else know of this?

I have the same problem. Unlocked stock TELUS DHD.
I can hardly wait for a working stock AOSP ROM without Sense.
No, I love sense. I prefer it over aosp. I just want this search issue fixed and I'm happy.

I would love to get rid of searchanywhere and replace it with a simple google search box. Hope someone can work it out.
+1
Tried editing the .kl files for key 217 but still no success.
The results that come up are rather lacking. When you go to search, it only shows 4 results per page. And then 4 dumb ads. There are no options to change the amount of results per page (it used to display 10 per page). Many results are also missing a date (as are some of the articles they lead to).
Not sure if this is XDA's fault, but I've never had this issue before.
For some reason. When I perform a new search on that page, by tapping into the search field (next to the magnifying glass at the top), it causes the browser (Chrome mobile) to freeze up for 15-20 seconds
Using Chrome on Android.
use google and append xda to it
Hi all,
Since XDA changed (argh nightmare, hate the default dark mode, my password was too complex, etc) the RSS feed I was using to read the news on Feedburner has also died - how can I get the news from XDA via RSS still? Tried searching but no joy - been using XDA over 10 years now so don't want to lose out on my fix!

+1 for RSS feeds for the news
I found this one, but it doesn't seem to be a valid RSS:
https://www.xda-developers.com/feed/

That is weird, my feed reader uses that and it works perfectly fine. I use Foxish live RSS feed to add feeds as live bookmarks to Chrome.
Really odd - does work at all in Flym on my phone and it's the only RSS feed I can't get working - I've got around 15 others from various sites that work perfectly. Who knows why, annoying to miss out reading xda each day.
I just registered to XDA Developers to help you. I moved back to RSS from social media and decided on Flym. I Got everything to work except xda-developers RSS feeds.
Based on the GitHub page, Flym development has stopped due to a Google Play Store policy change... but the last change in Flym version 2.5.6 was to the feed code.
I downloaded Flym 2.5.5, the previous version, from https://m.apkpure.com/. Just search for Flym and then scroll the resulting page up to locate the previous version Installers.
Here's the actual download page. I don't know the forum's rules on hyperlinks. I'm just here trying to help...
https://m.apkpure.com/flym-news-reader/net.frju.flym
I exported an OPML file from Flym 2.5.6, then uninstalled Flym 2.5.6.
I installed older Flym 2.5.5 (tap the downloaded *.apk file in whatever file explorer app you use and choose Package Installer). I launched Flym 2.5.5 and imported the OPML file to get my feeds listed again.
Finally, I added the xda-developers feed and edited the feed URL to contain the following text...
Code:
https://www.xda-developers.com/feed
After refreshing the feed, the xda-developer articles loaded!
Be careful not to let the older side-loaded app version get automatically updated to the newer version with the feed issue. I tested 20 RSS readers since last week and I find Flym to be the best.
I hope this helps you!
Cheers
I confirm version 2.5.5 (from apkpure) works.
If I find time I will download the code and see if I can fix (or suggest a fix)
I really hope someone takes over Frederic...
Thanks for the great tool Frederic!
