The o2 icon to end "Running programs" has gone missing from my screen. Can I download a similar program from else where and then assign a key to make this activity more user-friendly.
It seems to make the speed of the system so much quicker if you "close all running programs" a couple of times a day.
Rob.
there so much programms for that , that you canĀ“t count them....
try the search.

When you say "gone missing" do you mean disappeared of some artemis bug or something else?
If the latter then it should return after a soft reset.
I keep getting a bug where my mouse pointer vanishes and won't return until I soft reset.
The orbit has fundamental flaws in it's OS in my opinion.
Otherwise AE button plus allows you to map end program or a task switcher wherever you want. Really useful.

Is there a preference, setting or registry tweak that can be set to prevent Pocket Word/Excel from going into the screen listing all files of their type upon quiting. It is unfortunate when a quit is not a quit. WM2003SE by the way.
If you install SPB Pocket Plus it has a close button feature that lets you "really close" applications. If you tap and hold on the sudo-close button it pops up a menu allowing you to close, close all, minimize etc.
Not so
I have and use that app and feature but it does not addresss this issue I raised. Thanks anyway.
Have anyone noticed, that after closing a program it disappears from task manager, but stays running in the background?
I mean, when I start opera it's in the task manager, and when I close it, it dissapears, but the memory consumption stays the same, and after restarting opera it continues where I have left it (like I was browsing some page, and it opens directly with that page) - So it wasn't closed at all!
Another program called Tracky offroad navigation. When I clicked on the X on the upper right corner, it disappeared from the task manager, however right after this I tried to remove tracky (settings->remove programs) and it asked me first: Do you want to quit Tracky?
So It did not close it either.
Have anyone else noticed this?
yups, i am having the same problem too with opera. it's still running although it no longer appears in the task manager
Noone else, just two of us?
That's strange. How will we find a solution then? :\
Same thing here with opera. For opera, I assume it could be because they have integrated it into touchflo3d and they will probably start it in the background to download your favourite sites, so HTC might have modified it to hide it from the task manager (or they modified the task manager)... Until now i have not found a second program showing this behaviour...
I have been playing around with the registries and it seems there are some registry settings that you can change to prevent that
HKCU\Software\HTC\TaskManager\ExclusiveList\System
If you look into the above folder, you can find a list of apps that will run under exclusive, meaning they will not show up in the normal task manager. You will notice Opera9.exe is in there. If you remove the entry, you can now see Opera9.exe in the task list. But it still doesn't seem to terminate the process when you exit Opera. To do that you need to go to
HKCU\Software\HTC\TaskManager\TerminateProcess
Add a DWORD key (Opera9.exe) and set the value to 1. Now when you exit Opera, the process will be terminated and memory returned.
This works for me.
Hey,
thx for the info!

Click to collapse
Still a problem...
For me, its G-alarm and Pocket Player... when i close either program, the music (or alarm) continues to play in the background, and neither program shows up in the task manager, and often i can't open the program back up again after that. I usually have to soft reset my phone to stop the alarm. (the reason I closed the alarm that way is that some landscape or rotation problem made it so i couldn't hit the off button and noticed that the alarm kept going) I'm also using the T-mobile stock rom. Neither of those programs show up in the registry however, so i'm lost as to what to do. Note of course if i do close hte programs properly they do turn off, but sometimes I hit the X button and they don't close properly or crash.
Thanks!
Hello,
On all previous HTCs, including the original Touch Pro, I used to be able to drag down with my finger to select multiple messages in email (or even files in explorer). This is no longer possible as dragging down with the finger scrolls the whole page. I know it is possible to select messages by going through the menus, but it is a very long-winded way of doing this.
Is there a registry setting somewhere that can turn off this "feature" - it is the same problem even when turning off TouchFLO 3D.
Thanks in advance for any help on this.
Same Issue
I was begining to wonder whether it was just me that had this problem. Anyone know of a fix??
Thanks in advance.
You still can. highlight the item you like to begin with.
Use your soft or hard keyb. to hit "shift" or "ctrl" and start selecting the usual way.
Thanks for the suggestion. I wanted to do it without opening out the keyboard or workarounds like the soft keyboard.
It just really bugs me that perfectly good functionality has been removed in the name of "improvement".
Even a compromise such as being able to drag down to select on the left side of the screen (like Resco Explorer) would be good enough, with the rest of the screen being left for scrolling.
If anyone knows of a registry key or something to fix this, please enlighten me.
Thanks!
this is getting to me to i loke to quickly block delete emails that come in all the time thati dont need etc
Crazy isn't it! Removing the "D" Pad coupled with this loss of 'block selecting' functionality has made the device much more unusable.
even with the keyboard, i am no longer able to select multiple msgs
can someone confirm this?
same here.. still searching for the cause.
When looking at a folder, go Menu -> Select Messages -> Several. Then just touch those you want to delete
Mine lets me do menu.....select messages....several.
/beaten to it
i used to be able to do "SHIFT + DOWN direction key" to select several msg at 1 go
that was on TP1
the function disappeared..
Hello,
I have found that in certain cases when I use the built-in Task Manager to close programs they still remain open. I know they remain open because they still appear as running by looking in a program called Advanced Task Manager.
Does anyone know why this may happen, or how to be sure programs are closed when clicking the "X" button to close?
Thanks!
this gets asked so much. from your home screen, hit the top left icon to get the quick menu. it should show a close all button, a wrench, and how much ram you have left. click the wrench. go to the button tab at the bottom and select end programs by tapping x.
I am aware of the setting you are referring to, and I already do have it set to "Quit Programs when Clicking the X", yet still sometimes programs remain running after clicking the X.
to close all programs and free up lost RAM I dip my TP2 in a Big Gulp cup full of a 50/50 mix of water and bleach.
I've been playing with my new Touch Pro 2 for a couple of days. Very nice device, but like any new technological tool it's taking some time to learn my way around.
There are two silly little things about the software keyboard (Touch Input for Pocket PC v2.1) that are driving me insane:
Firstly, it gives a little vibration feedback with each keypress that, for the life of me I cannot figure out how to turn off.
Secondly, I cannot work out how to make the keyboard drop down and disappear - with my old TytnII pressing the little keyboard icon on the screen would drop away the keyboard, but now it brings up a menu page (and there's no menu option either!).
I'd really appreciate some help on these two things - I'm sure it will turn out to be something painfully obviouse!!!
Thanks!
Solution to 1 problem!
Just in case anyone finds themselves in a similar situation, the keyboard can be dropped down again by pressing the keyboard icon on the middle-bottom of the screen BUT it must be pressed on the left side of the icon in Windows 6.5.5. (If you press the right side of the icon you get the menu options - I think this is a result of the old option arrow being hidden under the keyboard icon in 6.5.5 ROMs).
Still no solution to turning off the vibration. I now think it's an error (one of many) in the cooked ROM as the menu item seems to be just missing!
...and solved the other problem
again, just posting this in case anyone reads this thread later in hope of answers!
So, it seems some smart cookie at HTC decided weshould be allowed to turn off the keyboard vibrations (we clearly can't be trusted with such important decisions!) so there is no way to do it from the menus.
Luckily Miri developed a tool to control this on the HD2, and from my initial trial of the disabling cab on the touch pro 2, it seems to work.
