Seeing that my ppc friends in the world request me to publish a WM6 version, I have made some amendment of the Wm5 version so as to fit WM6 users,

If your Wm6 rom doesn't have smart dialing, pls install
WM5 HTC Smartdialer cab (Extracted from Hermes)
2. WM6(LVSW 19/05/07) will not be published,
but you can still get it!
If you want to have this version, you need to request by replying the post of my forum
http://www.hkppc.com/bbs/viewthread.php?tid=7133 (leaving your email address and request).
Also you must agree not to distribute by yourself (e.g. posting to another forum). It is for personal use only. If you can follow this, I will send this to you by email.

Also, different roms will need redesign the layout. (Or else, the number will not match!)But it is easy for me to do so! However, I will not publish them in free of charge now. For those who are polite, friendly, sincere and rational guys, I will still extend my helping hand to them and treat them as my friends. Just like in this post of our forum

For those who are childish, silly, rude in manner, I just neglect and treat them merely as "spam".
Finally, I need to say Millions thanks to those who are sincerely support me and even economically support my dailpad design. "You" are really my friends and I am willing to serve you by all means.
It looks great mate!...will give a tray for this dial pad

Can you mirror this on rapidshare or something similar?
I also downloaded the iphone slide lock ( 24 hour format )

Is it possible to change the Background. I don't want my Phone in Aquarium-Style, but i like the Dialpad Layout very much.

Why is this discouraging, it is only a mirror. It is not like he is trying to claim you work as his own. Mirrors are a good thing.

The problem with registering with any new site is that within 1 week of registering on it (no matter what type of site it is), is that your spam content seems to increase and people then have access to your IP (which leads to trojans, attacks, etc.).
I, like most people, like to keep as much of my information for myself. And, that whole attack thing, it just sucks.
I never got good marks for sharing in grade school.
That being said, I personally am glad that you have shared this with us. At least with the mirrors listed, you know where your file is being distributed. It is not like someone put it on emule and you have no earthly idea where it is.

Please forgive my ignorance but I will like to have some more information about this.
When you say "All rights" are you talking about the:
The IPHONE brand?
The Artwork including icons?
About the legal stuff:
If you are giving this "software" away for free, under which license is your work protected?
Can we have a copy of such license, if any?
Please with your answer provide the country of origin as well as any other pertinent information within the legal framework.
Thank you.

Carramba... just installed this stuff on my spv m3100.
Everything is ok although...

Am I stupid or something?
Any ideas? (tried to change today theme 100 times...)

Well, I know I'm rather noob but maybe someone more clever could think it out...
We have many attempts to flash our devices with "white screen effect".
Some of us reports that have bad blocks, but in different areas. Think that mayby this is way with no way out.
Symptom remains the same always. White screen.
Important is that in fact - system works good (eg filesystem, core, etc...). After taping a screen with stylus - we can calibrate it and go on.
Then we have today screen with no background, a telephone pad with no background, media player with no background... In fact it's such annoying that we can't use our system.
We can even use our camera and record a video or take a picture, but we can not see it.
But not always... if we use "full screen" mode - we can see our films... - strange? isn't it?
Maybe system after flash have some "very small" defect concerning missing ability to scaling down bitmaps or something?
Maybe some stupid modification of graphical engine of our phone after flash will result in getting fully healthy system?
Maybe someone wiser will think it out?

I do not expect support unless I pay for it ... hm...
Anyway, did anyone with white screen effect tried to put into "white" phone registry file from "healthy" fresh flashed one?
Mayby we do not need new bootloader...

Fully support xelashiu. The dialpad is a nice job.
Building a dialpad is quite difficult, i fully understand the feeling of xelashiu.
Thanks alot for this dialer I really like it
xelashiu, you are doing an excellent job with these dialpads, and it is completely within your right to restrict others from mirroring your works. However, you must make it clear on your website and/or in your posts what rights are given to people in regard to your works. If it is just a download without any license info, people will usually assume "public domain" which means anyone can do anything with it. I am not saying that people should assume that, nor am I saying that it's a correct assumption. What I am saying is that you should tell people what they can and can't do with your works, otherwise they will assume total freedom.
Please do not let this incident discourage you from making more of your great dialpads.

Hi xda-dev,
I just thought if we could have us thread owners to have a standard button design for a specific thread that we can use/link in our blog post or websites?
Just a thought ..
And, while on the subject: Is an RSS feed going to be made avail in new version ?

I think that's a great idea. But could you clarify: Are you speaking of the same basic concept on news sites where various social-media icons are avail to auto-repost? (twitter, digg, etc)... Or do you mean a button that performs the action of copying the thread's link & title to the clipboard, then being able to paste it anywhere on your own site, manually, into a blog post etc?

SLIGHTLY OFF-TOPIC:
I'm WAY behind the curve in using twitter, and how it integrates with what seems like 1000 different twitter-based apps... And twitpics, i'm even less clear on how and WHEN to use it, and if it's used WITH twitter, or a parallel service to twitter for just sharing photos in real time.
ON-TOPIC
So I'm not clear if your posting that image on twitpic is literally an example what you want to be able to do, or are you saying there are apps for either phone or desktop computer that will generate a template graphic as well a specific thread title linked? So, in your picture, is the thread title generated as part of the graphic itself? Or is the thread title displayed in HTML on top of the template graphic?
I am really confused but I like the way it looks! please explain further...
Okay, so now I see this, in your prior sig file.. and I see that it is a graphic that gets generated with the title of the thread rendered as part of the image... so i just have never seen these used -- but I love the idea...
So for this example here:
tell me how that gets generated -- at http://www.twitstamp.com ? and then when you apply that generated graphic, how do you also code the link to the thread, in this example?
even more confused and feeling so behind the times !
well whaddayaknow -- this looks like a pretty cool web app ! ---
so are you speaking of ...
(1) You're here at XDA-devs, and you're on, for example, this very thread...
(2) You'd like to see a simple small graphical button, as part of "thread tools" or somewhere within the thread page layout, that when you click on it, it grabs the Title of the thread, and the link, copies it to pasteboard...
(3) then you go to a site like, for example, TwitStamp.com, and insert what's on the pasteboard into the "input box" at Twitstamp...
(4)... thereby generating a graphic with link that can be embedded anywhere on a webpage etc, exactly as you would grab embed code from a YouTube video, or from a photo at photobucket.com, stuff like that?
(5) Is this kind of small-file-size "picture status" thing being rapidly used as a way to post updates, but using twitpics? So that after you generate the graphic, you post it to twitpics? And those who subscribe to your feeds can see "oh cool, that sounds like an interesting thread, i want that for my phone"... and so they would click on it and link to the thread here at XDA?
even more confused by all the permutations of pasting what where... hah hah.
Is this what you mean exactly, or is it close, or is this just one of many examples of what you are envisioning?
sounds & looks interesting....

About a month ago, MS announced there are about 9000 apps on the marketplace and that number is growing about 100 apps daily (linky:
http://windowsteamblog.com/windows_...ips-policies-and-regional-access-program.aspx )
Today I've accidentally checked total number of apps on zest market, and the number is ... 7418 apps only Device specific markets (like tmode, htc, samsung, att) have a very limited number of apps (around 30 total).
My question is: there are the other 3000++ apps? However, I've checked marketplace only for en-US lang and didn't compare marketplace results for different languages.

I don't know where and how they got that number. I can only trust my own code and query responses I've made My software shown 7418 apps only (valid today, 3 p.m. EST).
Well, get to counting because your code and query is off.
You may count by yourself (of course if you know how)... API is well known, query is very simple and not secured.
Microsoft said last week that there are 11,500 unique apps in the marketplace, with 2,000 being added in the two weeks leading up to 31/3. That figure sits about right with the "100 apps a day" claim. WP7AppList reporting over 12,500 now again fits with these claims.
It does look like your figures might possibly be wrong, or both Microsoft an WP7AL are counting apps that you don't?

How does the fact this is a developer-oriented forum make you any less of a random guy? Also, this isn't really a developer-oriented forum as you've posted in the "Windows Phone 7 General" part of the forums.
In any case, there is definitely something off with your code. To prove it I quickly threw some code together and according to this there are currently 11820 unique active apps in Zest/en-us.
The reason WP7appslist does not agree with my count is because that site lists applications that have subsequentially been unpublished - such as Li'Messenger. My code does not.
Output from app below.
Code:

OK, just spent 15 minutes and made a console app (in attachment).
To compile, run VS 2010 command prompt and type: csc mpcounter.cs
Run and see result. You may also provide command line param, a file name. App in that case will save all found app titles to that file in UTF8 text format. Example: mpcounter.exe apps.txt
P.S. To "morality keepers" and "copyright protectors": there is nothing "hacking" or "secure" in my code; nothing what mid-level programmer can't wrote in half an hour using google.

Coming to a developers forum and showing them that you are illegally downloading their apps is going to get you some negative, off-topic remarks. That's just the nature of the beast in letting people know you're stealing from them.

Sure
Remove cost=any from your querystring and you get the same results as my app as posted above and WP7applist (inactive entries taken into account).
I haven't double checked the results, but I am guessing that cost=any only returns apps that actually has a cost (i.e. not free ones).
---edit---
Confirmed. Including cost=any will only return apps with an actual cost attached.
You can attack this in several ways, but the easiest is simply to not include the cost variable at all.

For those of you who have a psp you may know something about Portals. Offline web pages that give you the feel of using a different operating system. Well I've been working on making portals originally designed for the psp compatible with the KIN and then hosting them on a server due to KIN not being able to load web pages from it's flash storage.
I call the project I am currently working on KINdroid. It is based on the verminedroid PSP portal which is a PITA to work with because of the fact that it was programmed in french.

this is a pretty cool thing you've got going here. i'm not sure how useful it is right now, but it certainly has some potential.
it doesn't display quite right for me though. the background is tiled and everything is really small. i'd imagine it would be a relatively quick fix.
also i would suggest a back button, as the built in one is inconvenient as hell.
if anybody here knows javascript that might be a better option than html. loading each page is sort of inconvenient (especially on my awful internet).

You could do this anytime, but the real problem is always the same. You can't store it locally. If we could do local websites, then a pseudo app could work so well.
But storing it remotely.... not so much improved.

Yes, it's a portal, but it's still an html file. It doesn't matter if he's hosting it on a local server. Just because you have to enter numbers in to access it, instead of a domain name doesn't make it any difference. It's just like any normal website.
In reality, the web could function without domain names. The thing is that no one wants to remember a string of numbers.

Yeah, pretty much this. ^^^^
Tyler, you can simply open it with lets say Firebug plugin and make changes and tell him what changes you made. You don't need to have the entire website to do that.

Firebug is amazing. It can slow down FF considerably though, so I turn it on only when I need it.

There's version for Chrome. I use chrome. Everything is fast-n-easy.
btw, for the up-and-above topic, i was reading a games site within a public WiFi site and the cache didn't work when exiting the WiFi range and pressing back, even after passing ~10 pages of comments.
i wouldn't rely on that cache. Well i wouldn't rely on ie mobile in general but, ignoring that.....
Wont work on my KIN TWOm
Im curious does this only work over wifi? I always get a timeout error when I try this. By the way Im fairly new here but have an extensive knowledge of programming. I also was able to jailbreak my kin twom.
Dear admins/website developers,
It would be a really nice feature to be able to rate a post.
-1 off topic/offensive
0 off topic/irrelevant
+1 on topic
+2 on topic/informative
+3 on topic/must read
Something like that. They use it on the dutch website tweakers.net and it's really handy.
By filtering out the off topic posts. You have a much cleaner view of the thread.
The user is free to choose the level of rating. For example I wan't to read the "thank you's".
I set the viewing level to 0 offtop/irrelevant.
But if I would be a developer I would set it to +1 or +2, so I could easily read up on new developements users have made or requested.
Ofcourse the rating of the posts has to be done by users themselves.
And they themself have to be rated as well (their credibilty).
If one user A rates a post -1, but five other users rate that post +1. The credibilty of user A goes down.
I think this is a really nice way to clean up a thread.
Popular rom threads get spammed so fast with "thank you's" and/or questions, that there's hardly keeping up with the actual developing discussion, bug reports, fixes, etc.
Cheers,
Daan
If a post needs to be removed, report it. Mods are generally very quick to fix those things.

I know but I don't think it's appropriate to report a "thank you" post
What I meant was, viewing a thread on different levels.
Normal, informative and developement. Or somethng like that.
Now that I think about it you could indeed skip the -1 and just report offensive posts to the mods.
Mods will still have to remove it. Not a big deal ofcourse, probably takes 2 minutes.
But with the system above that is no longer necessary. Users become the mods in a way.
Cheers,
Daan

Nothing wrong with reporting "Thanks" posts in my opinion. I do it all the time. Dev threads get cluttered up enough without having newbies clutter it up with "Thanks" or "ETA?".

That's exactly what I mean.
Wouldn't it be nice if you, the user, could mod the post.
That way you won't have those annoying cluttered up threads anymore.
The posts are still there, but you filter them out to your own needs.
I think the biggest issue with your idea (which I like, btw) is the server overheads. You're basically asking for every single thread to have its own dedicated view. I've seen similar types of features in sites like Stack (I use Stack Overflow quite a lot) and it works very well for them, but they're not forums - they're purely Q&A sites and they discourage discussion. While that difference is not particularly pertinent to your suggestion I do think you're thinking of this site more along their terms.
The mods are there for a reason, and as tedious as it may be, cleaning threads is one of their tasks. Just report things that are out of place.

A quick fix would be to use the XDA Toolbar for Chrome. You can collapse posts, sigs, and images. It's probably going to be more to your liking than us telling you that XDA isn't going to implement this feature.
[20-Dec-11] XDA Toolbar for Chrome v1.7
I agree with the report button... Cause a mod can review it to see if it needs to be removed.. If they did it the way your talkin about.. Things could get messy since some new guys or someone wanted to be not a nice person could just down rate your thread for no reason at all... Which does happen from time to time.. I have no idea why when a bunch of others love it.

New users should not be able to mod posts yet.
There should be a rating system for the users themselves, as stated in the first post.
If user A rates posts -1 while 5 others rate +1, then eventually user A won't be able to mod posts anymore.
Well, I guess I'll have to use the report button more often and more aggressively.
It was just an idea.
Cheers,
Daan

Whahaha, I can see the connection.
Nice work on the toolbar!
kind of similar request: how about keeping it simpler, and have the ability to filter a thread so it shows only "thanked" posts? I think this would be extremely useful, and although I know very little of programming, it shouldn't be difficult? This way for example if I'm in a custom Android ROM thread, instead of searching or reading through posts, you just filter out the questions and other "less useful" posts and get straight to the answers or the more useful/interesting ones.
Sorry if this had been requested before (or if there already is the ability to do it..... ) but just saw this thread and thought I'd jump in
What's this questionmark I see at the bottomleft corner of the posts?

The post rating system only exists in the Galaxy Nexus forum at the moment and has been there a while now.
I'm not too sure about it though because I figured there would be buttons to click to rate the post up or down.
I couldn't understand how simply showing that message (one in screenshot) would solve anything.

Yeah, you make a good point but it took me like a month to figure out how to do this. Also, your tone makes you look like kind of a douche.
spelling?
*you *difference
I don't mean to sound angry, but you should really think before talking.
Search before posting. It's right there in the forum rules. You may call him "kind of a douche" if you like, but from our perspective this is spam.
At most, this is worthy of yet another reference to it in the Registry Tweaks thread. I could understand creating a new thread if you'd released a new app to automate it (because there totally aren't enough theming apps yet...) but even if this were a brand new tweak, it should have gone in the existing registry tweaking thread.
That said, I do appreciate your desire to help explain the exact steps. Just, please consider the most apropriate avenue for doing so.

Looks like you are a really smart boy
I don't think you guys understand. I was just trying to make a clear step by step guide to doing what i thought was a pretty cool tweak.
As you can see, I just recently migrated from android, and I'm loving windows phone so far. I guess the WP dev community is a bit different, and that's just something i'll have to learn to get used to.
That said, what do you think i should do next? Delete the thread? post it in a different forum?
Thanks for helping a WP noob out!
PS: the "for like a month" part was a bit exagerated. I only got my WP device 2 weeks ago
My inclination would just be to lock it and let it fall of the first page (I'm aware that posting this bumps it, but meh). I don't frequent the Adroid forums, but if they're cool with (or full of) people "discovering" a tweak (you can't even call it a hack; the registry editor itself is the hack, this is just one way to use it) and making a post in the OS-wide dev&hacking sub-forum... Oh, and then there's the fact that the registry tweak thread (which has been running for well over a year) shows up right away if you type the first three words of your subject line into the Search.
I've made this mistake before - come new to a community, figured something out, thought it was super-cool, and posted about it without checking if anybody was likely to benefit from my post. I've done that once, to be more specific. It's embarrassing, but no real harm done. This is probably the reason that actual newbies to the forum (as opposed to people in your position, with lots of posts in another section) aren't initially allowed to start threads in this section. It gives people time to learn how the forum works.
Take your lumps, let the thread die, and start seeing if you can build on what we already know. There are still lots of cool hacks and tweaks to be discovered within this OS. We do welcome newbies with cool new hacks, for sure. Just, please make sure it's actually new (for example, with anything relating to the registry, do a search on the relevant registry key). Also bear in mind that new threads in this section usually include apps or other simple ways to apply the hack (for example, not everybody can run WP7 Root Tools).
I honestly don't see the harm, and think you're all being a little douchy. This isn't just a place where the "regulars" come to pat each other on the back, there are plenty of us who had no idea such a thing was possible and would be (are) grateful for the post. I don't go digging through the registry on my own, because I know I'd break something. So this simple post showing me what to do and what it looks like is much appreciated.
What are you all worried about? That this one thread will bump your uber-super-awesome-cool thread off the first page? Give the guy a break. I've been checking out every interesting thread in this forum for 6 months and hadn't noticed someone posting this tweak in this way.
Nope theres assholes in this community too ! Im about to switch to Android altogether because of snobism of Microsoft (I cant blame Microsoft really) ,but like in the Android section xda has run out some of the best devs there was ,hell most of them arent even considered devs ,not sure why either, BTW that was a very clear and concise guide
