I just bought a HT820 for my Cingular 8125, after being told it would allow me to listen to music wirelessly. Of course everyone knows this wont happen without the A2DP BT profile installed. So why hasnt HTC included this in the last rom? I upgraded to it tonight expecting them to have included it since it's availible.. but NO... *grumbles*
ANYWAYS, since i cant do it, I'm looking into a non-approved rom.. but seriously I'm new to PPC's and dont have a clue. I've read through alot of posts and noticed stuff about G3 and G4, as well as talk about the phones being locked or not.
My questions are, how can you tell if it is locked? How can you tell what G you have? (I'm guessing that might stand for generation?)
Seriously, I dont want too much of a change that involves risks. All i'm looking for is any current rom with what i need in it, and the knowledge of how to get it on my phone. Any help? (And please dont flame me for asking something that might have been asked before.. there are WAY to many posts to sort through on here to find my answers).

yes you can unlock the 8125 that have the g3 chip. that means if your phone at the beggining page has 2.25.0001 it means you have a g4 chip and not much modding can be done to them. so i beg of you not to do anything to a g4 8125. but anyways to unlock them use the farias way. just search lockwiz and look for farias page. after you do that flash the newest rom from htc. thaway your phone works properly. after that search a2dp and follow the instructions. i think ive given you guys more help than i ever received when i first started on this webpage. Just been given a Vodafone u.k 1605(hermes),the digitiser was trashed so ive soldered in a new one.I would love to install Black 2.5 for T-moblie u.k which is my sim network.Do i just install this to the phone or do i have to take any other action first?The phone is unlocked.

You really have a lot of reading to do. So much that we cannot post it all here. It has taken an entire forum for all of the information. You need to start here:

Get familiar with what you can do. First thing you are going to want to do is update the boot loader so you don't brick your device. Read here for more information:

Do not "just install" ... ideally read the wiki first, and then follow instructions on Mrvanx's Guide. Upgrading is pretty painless and easy ... and the guide should keep you on track.
A ha ,i knew there would be more to it than that,not sure what a wiki is lol but looks like im gonna find out.
If someone could just give me a list of things to do before hand ill do the appropriate reading
i.e 1 upgrade the boot loader etc etc ,please dont go into detail a mere shopping list will do.

If you follow the advice in link #3 above you wont go wrong.
The site referred to gives you all the knowledge and confidence to do the job.

Read the threads concerning the threads on available roms.
Understand what you have read.
Flash your phone.

My subjective pick is Black 3.01 ...
Remember to go "Hard SPL" first, and that you need to upgrade your radio seperately.
Right just updated the Hard splv7 and my radio to 1.41.00.10,ive also flashed with black 3.0. Now i cant seem to get a wireless link to work or turn on my bluetooth?
Also does this mean i can flash any cooked rom?

generally speaking, yes.... but be sure you are flashing OS only (unless you want to upgrade your radio too). Most folks are putting out OS only upgrades now, but some replace the radio. once you are hard spl and no longer a flashing virgin, it becomes second nature.

I just wanted more info about the CID unlocking tools availible on the internet today......
I read like two days in this LARGE! forum to search for tools to unlock CID for G4. I saw already really IMPRESSIVE! things managed by some people, I just can't explain how great these people are that can make programs like flash Rom without having it Cid-Unlocked!
But......what i find strange: Is it really so difficult to get a G4 Cid-Unlocked? Because the G3 has no problems doing this, and also can Imei Check do it without a problem. What are they doing different that this does work? and is it not possible to make a similar program like that without the Imei check? (I don't mean to copy this program from them!)
I just ask this because i really want to know, I'm not a noob in software and hardware, but in PDA/MDA/pocket PC or whatever I am!
I hope someone can take the time for me to explain this?

It would be helpful to know what device you have, because the DiskOnChip G3 and G4 are used in a variety of devices (eg. prophet, wizard, universal..).

It's CID-Locked and want to put WM6 on it.

You can install WM6 by using this tool.
It is a patched SPL that only runs in the memory of your wizard, and which gives you a temporary superCID.

I have tried to find the ROM for this upgrade but can't, can someone point me in the right direction for a ROM, thanks in advance.
im looking too! from what i hear and read, it hasn't come out yet but they do have that upgrade for the european version of the tilt. im hoping it comes out soon tho!

Check out the Kaiser section. There are plenty of 6.1 roms on there. Just have to CID unlock your device, which I have done to my wifes, and then flash to one of the ROMS.
Where do I get the CID to unlock my device?

hello people and thanks for looking. Right I would like to upgrade my
SPV M3100 to wm6, but i have no idea how. I have read through some stickys n some other threads but tbh im confused, all i get gather is i need to install hard spl ( what ever that is) then upgrade my rom using usb. The phone was on ornage but i unlocked it, now on three 3g.
here are what the id and info about my phone is :

Hello lloyd, as you can see from all the offers of help that you received, this site is full of big heads who claim to be geniuses, but when faced with a simple question reply that you should read more!
Unfortunately, it appears that most of the contributors are so illiterate and self centered that they do not have time to help people with genuine problems.
For the last six months, I have been trying to upgrade my rom, only to find links that do not work and instructions that are incomplete.
If you want any real help, you will not find it on this website.
