For radio, check out Resco Radio: http://www.resco.net/pocketpc/radio/default.asp
GPS, you need an external receiver and then GPS software like TomTom: http://www.mobilefun.co.uk/cat/XDA-Exec-GPS.htm
For your WMP problem, goto Menu/Options/Video in WMP and there's a setting there to scale it to full window. Personally, I'd recommend having a go with TCPMP, it's freeware and much better for video and audio than WMP (in my opinion).
Welcome to the XDA, hope you have as much fun as a lot of us do
first at all, thanks for the info. for the windows media player, i've set the the video to full scale but it is still small. i don't understand what "recommend having a go with TCPMP, it's freeware and much better for video and audio than WMP (in my opinion)". i'm sorry. too slow to learn all this thing.. which rom u recommend i should upgrade to? does it affect the resco pocket radio if i installed new rom u recommended? what the differences windows mobile 6 (crossbow) and the normal windows mobile in xda exec? what is an extended rom? thanks for the replies...

TCPMP stands for The Core Pocket Media Player, http://tcpmp.corecodec.org/download
Does what WMP does, just better.
There are a few threads already about the benefits/limitations of WM6, it's really a personal thing and some prefer it, some don't. It's missing some components like video calling, but fixes for this are now being released. It really is a case of trying it for yourself and seeing what you prefer. It's certainly faster than WM5.
Extended ROM is a small 10mb memory section which is locked by operators and contains their own customisations and settings which are activated on hard reset. You can unlock this and remove all those files and use it for your own storage, be it programs or music or whatever.
Go hunting, there are a lot of threads that you should read before you get started, firstly, read the WIKI and get to know a bit more about your device before you do anything a bit more advanced.
Good luck.
thanks a lot again...
where can i download the windows mobile 6.0? any links?

I just got my Qtek9090:
Rom: 1.12.00WWE
Radio:1.02.00
ExtRom: 1.12.120WWE
So any new rom version I have to update it with, and what "must have" programs do I need?
well,
try these
1.Photo Contacts, this is a must-have-program.
2.Mortplayer, a good media player, you can listen to shoutcast radio with it, it's free.
3.Spb pocket plus , MUST have
4.Resco file explorer, better than PPC's own file explorer
5.Pocket informant, wish if it was integrated from start.
hope this'll help you to get started any way

try the XCPUScalar
This program allows you to set the CPU speed for both underclocking and over clocking
Overclock to 472 MHZ. useful when running the bigger programs.
Underclocking, however is the realy nifty thing:
One problem with ALL XDA users is power consumption, when you bluetooth, wifi, GSM and listen to MP3s, you start feeling the drain pretty quick.
One way to conserve power is to use a lower CPU speed when smsing, or yakking on the phone.
Download trial from PocketGear. The latest version is compatible with Xscale 270's and 250's
It even includes a power down and soft reset button, battery, storage meters. all in a very small package.
I Have:
(free unless stated)
PHM PocketPC PowerToys (some of its naff, but you can chop it out manually) The notepad utility, and 'screen saver' thingy, and run... doofer are the most usefull also includes traylaunch (to shove things on your today tray, and a load of other faff.
vxIPConfig - shows IP, gateway, blah blah
Orneta FTP
Skype PPC A killer application, but currently rather unreliable. The terrible wifi reception on the XDA IIs and friends also means that you cant stray too far from your AP. If you do, it drops the call, and the IP stack crashes!! (soft restart required).
Still more convienient than being tied to a pc tho.
<href="http://www.pocketgear.com/software_detail.asp?id=2825">Pocket Lan</a> - Shareware - allows you to connect to shares on your network, also does ping etc
PocketTV - Helf decent video player
PocketDivX - Only Divx 4.1 support unfortunately

Beta Player
Hi
To add to this, try betaplayer --> its excellent! I have now uninstalled MVPlayer, PocketDivx and pocketTV, beta player does the lot.
Get the 'unstable' release though, the stable version is old and is missing codec support. I have found the 'unstable' version to be rock solid.

I seem to be the only one who likes the look and feel of PocketPC by default... Of all the programs above, the only one that doesn't offend my visual cortex is the photo contacts program.
To each their own though. 'Always good to see people's lists.
Is there any way I can get WMP 10 onto my SX66 without changing the firmware? I'd like to continue to use the official Windows Mobile 2003SE firmware for the SX66.
I checked the website for the SX66, and they don't have a WMP upgrade.....and it's not available for download from Microsoft.
You can try and request the program files for windows media player 10 from one of the members of this site, I don't have time right now but if you PM me later I'll try and help you out.
Does anyone have the program files? If yes, could you please upload them?

Hmm.
On the topic of WMP10, has anyone heard of skins being released for it yet?

A better looking interface, better support for syncing with WMP on PC, media library, album art support, support for DRM-protected media, etc.
So....could someone please upload the setup files for WMP10 if possible?
Oops made a mistake, sorry thought you could get it from the Microsoft website. Can't remember where I got it from now, it was ages ago, but it does work fine. Certain it was just a free download though.
Ever since Windows Mobile 2003, Microsoft only releases WMP for WM devices as a part of ROM updates. Siemens did not directly release the later HTC ROMs that included WMP10... so you'll have to flash your SX66 with another ROM (like, i-Mate's) that comes with WMP10.
That sucks, I was hoping that I would be able to just update the program.
Where can I download the i-Mate firmware (I already checked the website for it, and couldn't find it), or another WM2003 firmware for the BA that has WMP10?
extracted from the jasjar 3.2 rom for all non imate users....and something extra...
Thank you very much fallenczar!!! Works great!!! Finally!!!
Another point for Microsoft Media Player
Why doesn't TCPMP come up with a TodayScreen Item.
TCPMP hasn't released a new verion for a long time, maybe they quit.
I also read somewhere that in Media Player, you can view movies full screen finally.
Do we still need TCPMP ?
tcmp
tcmp is releasing a full paid and unpaid (v1) player on 16th of oct.
keep a eye on <http://coreplayer.corecodec.org/>
cheers
Yes, I just upgraded to the AKU 3.2 and the WMP now displays video full screen. I noticed also, the video quality is smoother (I believe, from my experience) than using TCPMP. Since my upgrade to AKU 3.2, I have not find any reason to install TCPMP yet so far.

I had it, and got rid of it, it sucked my ram dry, I literally watched it go from 20mb to 3mb in a matter of minutes. perhaps the installation method.
also i dont find it any more functional at all than the SPB, and SPB takes up less today screen space.
Other experiences? does anybody else find it more functional, useful and more stable than not using it at all, or compared to the SPB plugin.

I tried both, the official WM Plug-in occupies less memory (175KB), SPB plug-in takes 475 KB. Plus, the official plug-in you can use the arrow keys to control the play, stop, fast forward, etc... buttons. SPB does not.
i didnt like spb except for the volume control. i use the official one all the time.
Thank you very much. This plugin work fine on my ASUS P535 WM5
I have tried to install SPBToPlay (freeware) before but it not work on WM5
thank you.......................

Ive had my Touch HD for about 4 months now and its starting to loose its mind. The vibration only works sometimes for a few mins and then it stops, its gone really slow and freezes aswell. I am on the verge of selling it and gettin a Blackberry or the nokia e71. Is there anyone who can change my mind and help me with the problems? It would be greatly appreciated as the first few months i thought it was the best phone i ever had!

Will this fix the vibration problem as well because I dont really wanna spend alot of time changing the rom and then I either end up with a bricked device or still have the same issue. Just on the phone to orange now see if they can exchange my handset even though i have had it for 4 months now. wish me luck...
Orange is sending me a new handset tomorrow so hopefully that will fix the problem. They have advised me not to install any 3rd party software for a few days which should not be a big problem. But i was also told that if i experience any other problems on 2 more occasions that I would be able to change my handset for another model which is good customer service
Anyway now that i AM gettin a new touch hd, can anyone of the "senior" members of this forum give me their list of programs installed which have not caused the phone to slow down? I already know of fingerkeyboard, smschat (or smiley sms) and coreplayer. But I still am in need of a good gps software and the upgrade to TF3D v2 or v3 and a gd application to tilt the screen into landscape mode. Any help is much appreciated!
I have been using my HD for a while have not flashed any new ROM's but do have quite a list of 3rd party Windows Mobile software I use on it all working nicely.
Many of my applications are not freeware though, bought over the years as I'm a long time Windows Mobile user.
In my opinion you do not need to flash the ROM to still take advantage of your great HD
My applications include:
Pocket Informant
Resco Utility Pack
Softmaker Office Suite
SPB time
SPB Traveller
SPB Mobile Shell (plus the omnia SPB Skins skinning tool)
SPB Brain Evolution
SPB Finance
SPB Wallet
SPB weather
Pocket Investor
GarminXT GPS
MSS Converter
Phatnotes for MS Outlook
Skype
GSen
LockmeLite
SKTools
Sprite Backup
Finger Keyboard
Google Maps
HD Tweak
PocketMusic
Cheers

Why don't you upgrade the stock firmware first to the new 1.56 and new 1.13 radio, supposed to fix a lot of issues and give better battery life / gps signal.
Is that the 1 from the HTC website? cos when i entered my serial number last time it said that the upgrade was not available for me so i assume that i already had the latest version...
EDIT: Dont you just love orange? I have just received my replacement and it is a generic handset. hehehe
Hello omz
To check your rom version start/settings/system/device information with the phone being 4 months old it will more than likely have version 1.14, the latest version 1.56 from htc.com is only available for sim free phones i.e. it was purchased with out a contract. As mentioned else where on this forum, providers like Orange etc will take a few months with there update if they bother at all. If they don’t your other option will be to either flash with a custom rom loads on this site or see if some one will send you there official rom. Software, video convertor http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=474955 this is excellent, screen rotation I like this one http://idevelopstuff.com/dev/WM/Fuze...creen_inst.cab but there is also gyrator, satnav TomTom 7.915 works a treat on these phones. You might also be interested in this app http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=452505 hope this helps Jez

I would also suggest trying Slacker Radio, if you have not already. It does the same thing Pandora does, but the Slack Radio WM app has much better sound quality, very finger friendly, and a bunch of built-in radio stations as well. I've pretty much given up using Pandora on my TP2 in favbor of Slacker Radio for these reasons.

Is this CAB different from the ones earlier mentioned? If so, I'ld like to try it out and would appreciate a link to the post that contains it.
I have Sirius, Slacker and Pandora. I find Pandora the most reliable. Seems that Slacker does not buffer at all, Sirius buffers some. I can barely get Slacker to play for me and Sirius is constantly rebuffering and it also does not always start back up after a phone call. Pandora always plays.
i actually just discovered Pandora last week, I canceled my Sirius, since i liked this so much, and i got pandora one, but it sucks that I can't find a good app for my phone, My girlfriend has a great pandora app on her stupid blackberry torch , i'm jealous. I just want a good app.
The buttoms are so damn small on this one.

Thanks, i've tried that on and every other one i found on here and all same problem , no art
HTC TP2, T-Mobile
WM 6.1
Most Sense stuff turned off
I do remember that the Slacker was just for WM 6.5. Maybe that is why mine does not work well. But is also did not work well before the new release.
My Pandora is Version 1.0.25 and it shows album art. Buttons are tiny, but they work. It does not show in the list of active tasks.
I do these steps for my installation
To get Pandora working on your Touch Pro / Diamond:
1. Download the Pandora.cab (mirror)
2. If you don’t already have it, download Advanced Config Tool 3.3 (mirror)
3. Install both applications and open Advanced Config Tool
4. While in the Advanced Config Tool, navigate to Network>TCP Window and change the value to 98304
5. Save your changes, and soft-reset.
6. Download This VGA/EXE Fix (mirror)
7. Replace the orginal .exe (in \Program Files\Pandora\Pandora.exe) with the one from the VGA/EXE Fix above.

We have Sirius XM and while it isn't free it is an option and there are a couple of WM apps that work and provide album art and over on the Android side (assuming you may own a HD2 too) Sirius XM's own app which works terrific. If you have a subscription it's a $2.99 add-on, however, if you don't I think it's $8.99.
I wanted an easy to download app instead of constantly looking for one that "works" on my WM device. My solution was to ditch Pandora all together.
Frankly Slacker.com and their WM6.5 app is just awesome. I like their service more than Pandora personally.
I will move to Last.fm when WM7 comes out as the integration with Xbox Live and the phone will be nice to have as Slacker and Pandora aren't offered on XBL.
Sorry but just offering some thinking points.
