hello
for two days now, i have the following problem on my 9090, upgraded to wm5:
I can make the internet connection, wifi, gprs, activesync.. no problem, and it receive an IP address.
But if I want now to work with the ie or pocket msn, it can not connect.
The IE says everytime "The page cannot be found. Check the name and try again". The same error also when i directli put in an IP address.
If no connection is there, the IE connects, but after successful establish, it shows the error message..
Can anyone help?
thank you,
Sven

When configuring Activesync, you would choose which connection for it to use to sync with exchange server and in the WM5 I would pick My ISP but on the WM6 "Internet" is the only options in the drop down menu.
Shouldn't it be listing all avaiable connections you have added in the Connection settings?
Maybe a bug? or is there a setting where I select connection type for "Internet" on WM6?
Thanks
Bill
In the connections dialogue you select what My ISP (or whatever you use, i.e mine is 'O2') connects to, which is usually the internet.
When you set activesync to connect via the internet it will use ANY connection which does just that. So if you are connected via the USB to your pc it will connect to the internet through that. If you are disconnected from your PC it will use your GPRS instead.
I dont think it is a 'bug' really. Does your activesync work as desired?

Yeah Activesync seem to be working fine but in WM5 it wouldn't work with connections that uses proxy and it would allow me to select a connection in the drop down menu that doesn't have proxy setting ie "My ISP"
Perhaps the new Activesync now works with proxy.
As far I can tell it's working fine.
Mine does not - I have to manually use activesync to get mail from the Exchange Server. Push does not seem to work. There is another thread on this here:http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=297781
It is really annoying me at the moment as I canot find a workaround.
It seems that activesync can find the GPRS when I do a manual Sync, but has a warning that i do not have a cellular internet connection. Odd. I originally used the Orange .cab files to set up the connections, I then deleted them and recreated the connection manually which made no difference.
Any ideas would be welcome!
I have a similar problem. I'm not sure if it's the same or not. Help would be appreciated...
When my Hermes is roaming everything in hunky-dory, GPRS, HSDPA, Push-Email... all is running smooth. BUT...
When I Activesync (I have "Allow wireless connection on device when connected to the desktop" unchecked - as advised in this thread), the hermes initially drops any wireless connections, then, instead of using the PC's broadband (as per WM5 & Activesync 4.2) to sync with Exchange it tries to dial up to GPRS again. Sync ultimately fails with error code 85020006. This webpage says the problem is "The Connection Manager could not find a path to the destination.
- OR -
Unable to connect. Verify your dialup or proxy settings are correct, and try again"
This is annoying as I have SPB Insight installed which I want to use the PC's connection to update all the channels, as well as sync with Exchange.
EDIT: I tried this before among other things and it didn't work but now it seems to be working OK. The only thing I can think that has fixed it is changing "This computer is connected to:" The Internet
well i also have WM 6 installed on my device and when i configured AS to sync with mail2web exchange server it stopped accessing the Internet when connected to the PC via USB/ AS.... whenever i try to access the Internet when the device is cradled the device opens the GPRS connection and connects to the net.... how do i get AS to connect to the net when cradled and not GPRS... and the exchange sync gives an error MSG 85020006...
someone please help me.... its really very frustrating not being able to connect to the net when connected via USB/ AS...
thank u

Sup,
I'm having trouble connecting to my wireless router with my Qtek 9000 Windows Mobile 5.
Technically it is connected, but no webpage loads. It's a netgear wireless G router with the settings set to b/g.
I tried in both, PIE and Opera.
I tried with "Phone" on and off to see if that makes a difference.
I get an error message in PIE:
"The page cannot be displayed or downloaded because the connection was
lost. Check the connection and try again later."
Google is the only page that loads, but I think because its cached?
I get this message when I try a search:
"The page cannot be displayed because the server could not be found or a DNS error occurred."
The error I get in Opera is:
"Could not connect to proxy server
http://mail.google.com/mail/"
when connecting to gmail.com.
Please, any help?
(BTW, I'm new to Pocket PCs and this forum so please excuse the noobness)
Edit:
I have another problem too. Youtube worked in Opera with Flash Player 7 PPC except the video loaded like the first 29seconds and then stopped. When I would play what was loaded, it would lag play and then go to the replay/share screen.
I also tried the FlashVideoBundle + TCPMP combo. With the combo, I tried with and without Flash7 installed and it doesn't work at all on PIE. I would get a "Video not available" error when clicking on a search result on Youtube.
So if anyone has a solution for this problem too, please advise.
i just upgraded to shaps latest wm6 rom. the wifi works at first; but when i came back from school, it wont connect anymore. it gives the error 'cannot connect to the networ and service provider settings and try again. i tried setting my router to an open network. but it still wont connect. i tried it on a different router. it gives the same error. did a hard reset twice. connects as soon as i finish hard reset. but after like i come back from school. it gives the same error. i even re-flashed the rom this morning and it was working. i just got in now and its still giving me the same error. can someone help me please??
Check that your mac address is still ok and you are getting an ip address. There is a thread on here for fixing dead WLAN if your mac address is blank.

yes. my desktop makes use of a wifi adapter to connect to it. and its working fine.
Be sure the Proxy's are disabled for connections using the phones WAN. here is a cab to allow you to turn it on & off easily.

not sure if this is gona help, but when i had wifi problems i found that going to settings, wireless lan, then the power mode tab and changing the power save mode from best battery to best performance fixed my wifi issues.
get your email address out of your login name
Try removing the network connection settings and let it redetect the network.
Hi guys,
Having some trouble connecting my Orbit to the internet through wi-fi...
I set my desktop to share internet connection through wireless and have been surfing on my laptop via this for ages...
Now when I switch Wi-Fi on the orbit on, it finds the network, put my WEP key in and it connects... then when I go into IE and go to a page it says "Cannot connect with current connection settings. To change your connection settings click "settings"......."
When I click settings it just takes me to the page that says
"My Work Network
Add a new modem connection
Add a new vpn server connection
Set up my proxy server"
Can anyone help with what the heck I need to be doing to get the internet working?!?!
Cheers
GK
UPDATE:
Whilst I was typing the message (supposedly still connected through wi-fi to the internet) the Orbit beeped at me and message said
"Unable to obtain a server assigned IP address. Try again later or enter an IP address in Network Settings"
Could that be whats causing the problem and how can I fix it?
Cheers
M
Solved my own problem thanks to the BBC website...
What are the chances of this happening on the same night as I get my XDA and try to set up my wireless...

Lmao, so is everything working now ?
I'm having a bit of a problem connecting to BT Openzone hotspots with the Galaxy Nexus.
(For the record, these are the proper hotspots that you can connect to if you are a customer of Vodafone and not the annoying BT Fon hotspots with the same name).
I am allocated an IP address, however I can't get to the login page, as I have a feeling that BT can't determine what type of device I am using.
I get the following error message:
"Connection Problem
The connection to the server timed out"
I still have my Nexus One and that works without any fault.
Anyone else able to test this?
