hi everyone,
As a newbie to this xda forum I have few questions abt Cingular 8525, PLEASE.
Can WM Pro 6 be installed on Cingular 8525 safely? If yes, does anyone have that ROM available, PLEASE?
And if need be, can WM 5 re-installed on Cingular 8525 thru HTC / Cingular sites?
Thanx a million in advance.

You need to go to the HERMES forum, since your device is a Hermes.
Before posting anything i recommend you read through the forum and use the wiki and search function.
yes, i have it since 2 weeks on my 8525 and everything works fine.
we are a couple at work with the same version and we didn't have any problem.
you can also find everything you need to go back to WM5 (if you need to send it back to cingular by example)
here is a stable version LVSW Edition (2007-03-20)
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=298809
also, the guide to upgrade is here
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=294012&highlight=guide
be careful and read all instructions word by word.. but it's really easy and you should not have any problem.

After many months of reading posts for unlocking and upgrades. I finally got enough courage to give it a shot with my Cingular 8125. What prompted me to do so was a battery problem (when surfing the net or resource intense functions the 8125 would soft reset (only if running on battery) and the team effort with resolving issues and general excitement most have doing so. Ok so I took the dive and unlocked & upgraded and the new goodies were outstanding. (like a kid in a cany shop, I wanted more!) Unfortunatly my problem with the battery still exsisted so I called Cingular / ATT and troubleshooted with them and they agreed to send a new 8525! Which brings up a few questions.
1. What's the best way to return the 8125 back to factory setting?
2. Will that re-lock the phone back to Cingulars settings
3. What unlocking tool is best for the 8525
4. I used the LokIwiz 02b for the 8125 and worked great! Will it work with the 8525?
5. Cingular plans a free to upgrade the OS to WM6 sometime between July-Sept. Should I wait to tweek the current OS / ROM?
Any thoughts or suggestions welcome

1&2. Look in the wizard forum
3. Theres a sticky in the Hermes Upgrading forum
4. I doubt it.
5. Thats your call.
With the wizard, just flash back to the latest cingular rom. I had to do that when I sent mine back.
Please help if you can , there are probably post on this but cant find any .i have an MDA PRO (HTC UNIVERSAL) with windows mobile 5 and want to upgrade to windows mobile 6, does anybody have a link to download this with instructions as i have seen a few post with people having issuses. The network is T-Mobile,
i dont know if this is possible ,i have blackmajik which is for the htc hermes, will this work on an mda pro?
Many thanks
Hi digigem,
You can try the link below. The ROM was "cooked" by member Laurentius26 and the link contains his latest version. I'm using one of his earlier versions and I find it really good.
Enjoy!
BTW, as far as I know ROMs are device specific. It is possible to adapt a ROM to work on a different device but its not easy.

Hi everyone,
I'm looking for someone who already managed to upgrade a german T-Mobile MDA compact III to WM6. Has anyone experiences with this? It's my business phone and I don't want to break it.
1. Is there any chance to reflash the old WM5 ROM if something goes wrong?
2. How can I save the old ROM!?
3. Do I need to setup any regional settings if I use the O2 ROM for example?
Thanks for all answers!

You shurely can use the O2 ROM. Regional settings? You can change the regional settings in the ROM, but you don´t neet to if you use the german version of the O2 ROM.
There is a way to make a backup of your curent ROM to a storagecard. Use the search..
You should make a backup of your pim (contacts, tasks, calendar etc.) with PPCPimBackup because you can restor them with thiis program, but not with SPB Backup..
Is your phone sim- or netlocked? Normally the german tmob devices are..
IMPORTANT: You can update - but before you flash your rom with any new os (like the O2) do the "uspl" (CID Unlock) first!
Look here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=308242
I have updated mine. Everything works fine, but the menues are in English.
The phone must be CID unlocked then you can flash any ROM you like. You can also find a CAB for T9 input in German.
Ciao
Thanks a lot guys for all the information. I'll report later if it worked...
Success
Thanks for all your information!
Everything worked fine.
At first I tried to make an backup, but I was not really successful, see here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=312871&page=5
But it didn't matter because I found a german wm5 rom for t-mobile:
XDA-DEV FTP -> "Uploads/Upload/Official MDA Compact III ROM/MDA Compact III German.exe"
So here is a conclusion for all noobs, like me:
1. Run USPL, get it here and read all the stuff: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=311403
2. Patch any ROM you like, for example one of those: http://forum.xda-developers.com/forumdisplay.php?f=362 or get one on the xda-dev ftp
I tried three or four of the ROMs from the forum, it was possible to flash them all, but I had to try it twice to "remove" the german O2 ROM (flash another ROM over the O2), but maybe I did something wrong in the first place.
What I would finally like is a T-Mobile branded german WM6 ROM. If anyone could give me some tipps where to start, I would appreciate it. I think it should be possible to extract the german O2 WM6 OS and somehow mix it with the T-Mobile stuff from the WM5 ROM. I know there is a lot information here on the forum, but any hint is nevertheless very appreciated

Hi folks!
Sorry - I am a complete novice to ROM upgrades etc...
I have an MDA Touch Plus Mobile with T-Mobile, running Windows Mobile 6.0.
I want to upgrade to WM 6.1 or 6.5, however the HTC website suggest that my phone (via S/N number) is not valid for the 6.1 upgrade...
T-Mobile support is worse than pathetic and offer no advice at all...
Can anyone suggest if it's possible to get the upgrade for my phone and how I would go about it...?
( Remember I'm a novice to Rom upgrades!)
P.S.
Many thanks and aplogies to those guru's out there who have gone through this issue a million times with folk like me...
- As a Db Progress developer I can relate - Give me a Progress DB and I'm happy, give me a car with a broken Altenator and I pass....
Cheers
Ron
First install the Hard SPL boot loader, after that install a custom rom with wether wm6.1 or wm6.5.
Take a deep look http://forum.xda-developers.com/forumdisplay.php?f=404 here.
Everything you need can be found THERE.
Check out the HardSPL thread and then start reading about custom roms.
If you have any questions : read again. If you still have any questions : read again...

Hi Guys,
I want to upgrade my O2 XDA Orbit to WM 6.5 but can't find any thing on the internet... there are quite a few websites talking about it but none of them have a link for the software or the list of instructions to follow. I am fairly new to this whole upgrading thing, so would really appreciate if one you can please push me in the right direction.
The details of my mobile phone are:
Model: O2 XDA Orbit
Processor: OMAP850-201MHz
currently on WM 6 Professional CE OS 5.2.1238 (Build 17745.0.2.3)
I need the link to the software and the instructions to follow.
Many Thanks,
Mahesh

you need to look in the artemis section
look in my signature for some of the ROMs i have made (they are a bit old since i am away from the artemis scene these days)
