Hi,
I want to use my XDA Orbit as a monitor device for a USB reversing camera on my motorhome.
Can anyone tell me if it is possible to get a small USB video camera that I can connect to the USB port on the Orbit - can I get a converter to connect to the smaller USB connector on the orbit?
Presuming that I can get the hardware working and there is a driver available for the Windows Mobile 5, then what software would I need to view the images from the camera.
Any help gladly received
Gary
No, you can't.
You need a PDS-device with USB-host-connector.
The Artemis / P3300 / MDAcIII / Orbit has, like many others, only a USB-client-connector.

Hi all,
This forum being the greatest about HTC, I think you guys will have the answer :
I would like to use my TyTN to connect to the console of a router (using serial connection) :
1. Does anyone know where I could find a miniUSB-DB9 adapter ?
2. Will there be a driver for serial port, or is it natively managed with COM ?
Such cables exist but for PC, but not miniUSB and with a Windows driver, no info about the same thing for PocketPC.
Anyone knows ?
Thanks

DELETED Message where I thought I found it..
Understood the problem..
Hi all,
AFAI understood I cannot find a solution due to the lack of USB Host support in the TyTN. I still wonder if the port can be used in direct low level serial mode as you see in bootloader. Could WinMobile use it ?
Another way would be to have a device that would be usb host, putting the phone into slave mode, but maybe I dream...
Thanks for any reply..
there is a bluetooth to serial adaptor which has been reported to work with the tytn.
COM1
Hi,
After much googleing there's still hope. Windows Mobile presents a COM port : 'COM1 via cable' and in the specs of the TyTN there is RS232 communication.
I still cannot figure out if the miniUSB connector pins could be simply mapped to the corresponding RS232 signals. Probably not
Anyway I flashed the XDA-Live wm6 ROM and it's great ! the battery seem to last longer (still 70% after 2 days!)

hi,
sometimes i want to send photographs via eMail through my xda orbit.
my cameras use fast (extreme III) SD/SDHC or CF-cards.
is there any possibility to copy images from an SD or CF-card to the xda orbit in order to send an email via WLAN or GPRS?
does anyone know if there is a possibility to plug a standard usb card-reader into the mini-usb-jack of the xda orbit?
or is there a special mini-usb-card reader that can be used with the xda orbit?
edit: another idea would be to connect the camera directly via a link-cable to the orbit. does anyone have expierience with this? which usb data transfer modes are supported by the xda orbit?
much help would be greatly apreciated.
thanks & regards
k.
Hey kfo,
i can't really help you much, but you should try to find out if the Artemis works as an USB Host, that is if the Chipset built in in this device supports the Artemis with USB Host Mode. That the first requirement i'd say.
Hello,
i want to use the 3to1 adapter with the intern micro but it doesn´t work. Can anybody say what i have to change in registry or somewhere else?

Bye Nico
can nobody help me?
Have you tried to download this driver for that:
HTC audio Drivers
Downloading and installing this driver update will provide your HTC mobile device with the latest available optimised software for use with the following accessories:
* YC A120 Y-Cable adaptor
* RC W100 Remote Controller
* RC E100 Remote Controller
[Y cable adaptor might work as the same method of the 3in1 adaptor]
It can be found on HTC.com, but you have to register to reach HTC E-CLUB to download official drivers from there.
Hope it will help.
Greetings,
Miklos

MDA Compact III - internal Microphone
Hello there,
I have the same problem, I use a plug which devides the usb - port to two usb - ports - one for headset, one for charging and one 3,5' jack for sound line out. If I connect this adapter, the internal microphone is deactived. Because my P3300 is T-Mobile branded, I can't download the Audio Driver from HTC. Is there someone who can help, please ?

Hello everybody
I would like to connect my HTC TyTn II to a device which is using a RS232 for a serial connection. The software I need is running under Windows Mobile 6.1. So what I need is a device to "convert" the USB into a RS232. For PC such things are can be easily bought but I have not yet found something similar for Windows Mobile 6.1 and MiniUSB.
Have I overlooked something (maybe it was to obvious) or do those device really not exist ?
Can you guys help ?
Thanks
Michael
Hm, I believe you can do COM connections over bluetooth (I believe the phone simulates a COM port over bluetooth). You might want to look for a Bluetooth to COM adaptor (don't know whether this exists, though).
even if you found a converter and one could just use one of the many rs232 to normal usb dongles and then a usb to miniusb converter
but it would never work
because to use those conveters the device is required to support usbHost which HTC TyTn II don't
