No Calendar Alarms or Notifications after upgrading to WM6 - 8525, TyTN, MDA Vario II, JasJam ROM Development

After several hours of searching through many threads regarding the WM6 ROMS, I've finally decided to post a thread to see if anyone could help me. A few weeks ago I upgraded my Herme from WM5 to the first edition of LSVW WM6 and I noticed then that I was no longer getting any reminders or notifications from my calendar appointments. I saw a few other folks post similar problems, but I never say any resolutions so I just figured I'd wait for the next WM6 releases to see if they would resolve my issue. Today I flashed the latest Black ROM and I still have the same issue. I thought that it might be due to SBP Diary so I uninstalled it but I am still not getting any alarms from my scheduled events. I've double and triple checked that I have notifications and alarms turned on under Settings/Sounds & Notifications/Notifications. I have everything turned on except for flashing the light, but I still get absolutely nothing when I should be getting an alarm for my reminder. And it's not a DST issue because the reminders aren't going off at some other time. They just aren't going off period. So if anyone can point me in the right direction to fix this I would greatly appreciate it!

I too have been experiencing the same problem. Has been the same with each rom update. Awaiting for a resolve. Using Black 1.2 now.

Hermes no longer reliable as alarm clock
I'm experiencing the same issues. Especially annoying as I'm using the tytn as alarm clock to get up at 4 in the morning to catch early flights. It already happened twice to me that the alarm didn't go off at all, and once it went of an hour late.

From what I read and can remember there are several causes and suggested resolutions to this issue. I will try to list 2 of the most talked about.
1) Some of the newer wm6 ROM'S have removed many of the sounds and notifications files. Sometime they show up as available under alarm clock and notifications, even tho the files have been removed. Another issue has been reported that due to the above, selecting one sound may play a different one or not play at all. Somewhere in one of the WM6 threads there was a cab file that would correct the registry for this issue. Does it work? I don't know, but there were many opinions voiced.
2) THe other popular cause for missing alarms and notifications is due to duplicate notifications in the notification queue. There are several apps to check for duplicate notifications. The easiest and also free is an app called Check Notifications from ScaryBear software. The cab file was in a post by MixMaven (search posts by his name).
Good Luck.

Found a way to fix my issue...
I was finally able to fix my issue by flashing the latest version of the FULL ROM by LSVW. Prior to this I was only flashing the OS versions of the WM6 ROMs. After I flashed the FULL ROM my alarm notifications began working again.
I still don't know what the issue was, but for me it didn't have anything to do with the sounds and notifications. I ran the Fix_WM6_Sounds.CAB on my HERMES after each flash but this never solved my problem.
It could have been an issue with duplicate entries in the notification queue, but I wasn't aware of this and I never knew to look at it or how to. So maybe by flashing the FULL ROM it reset the queue and resolved any duplicates???
After flashing the FULL LVSW ROM and testing that my notifications worked, I went ahead and flashed the latest version of the BLACK OS only ROM and my notifications are still working. I know this isn't a pretty solution, but hopefully it helps bring some understanding to the problem and helps to find a more simple solution.
Good Luck...

nbrinkmanii,
Cheers for posting the above .CAB file. I have installed it performed a sort reset and then set an ALARM and I still get nothing.
All of my other sounds are fine, phone, sms, mms, (haven't set reminders yet). Admitedly I have set the alarm to be a different sound to the system defaults but even those don't work.
I am not a complete novice to this flashing game and I have never suffered this issue before, any advise given is appreciated.
Warren.

All my calendar reminders work fine but I just set one for 8am to make sure.

After installing the cab file power the phone off and back on. This will make the settings stick, soft reset does not.

They seem to work fine for me.

Problem with Alarms in WM6 on XDA Orbit

Hi I wonder if anyone can help, I've searched the forum but not seen a similar problem, I recently upgraded my orbit to WM6 and everything seemed to be fine but I am now having an annoying problem with the alarms. I have three alarms set 06:00; 06:10; 06:20 for everyday of the week but after I dismiss these when they go off on a morning, I am still getting alarms going off for 7:00; 8:00 and 9:00? Can anyone advise on what I can do, I've tried a soft reset but that hasn't fixed it, has anyone seen anything like this happen?
Thanks

I had something quite similar happen after the clock change last year. I had to be sure I was up on time on the Sunday morning of the change so I manually set my clock back instead of waiting for WM5 (NOTE: WM5, not WM6) to adjust automatically. I ended up with duplicate alarm an hour apart - not at 'odd' times like you seem to have.
Anyway, to cut a long story short, I have MemMaid and I used that to identify and delete all alarm reminders in the system after having turned off all alarms in the Time Settings page. I then re-established the alarms at the proper times and all was well.
Might be worth a try?

Hi, would you kindly explain in a bit more details? How do you identify & delete the alarm reminders using memmaid? I have memmeaid installed - pls guide me through. I am having double alarm issues.

Old alarm times being held

I have a hermes with black satin and it runs stable. The problem I have been finding is that I change the alarms and they work well. The problem is that the alarm continues to go off at the time the first alarm was previously set to.
This is a very strange thing to happen. The only thing in the settings I have been changing on a semi regular basis is the date and time region when travelling.
I have tried turning off all alarms by not having any days highlighted, the program tells me the alarm will not function yet at 7.30am I will get an alaram sound..
Does anyone know where in the registry the alarms are kept?
Cheers,
you have to cleanup the notification queue.
try this tool attached or dotfreds task manager
thanks for that download. Unfortunately I screwed something up and lost the ability to ActiveSync...
Just reloading now..
Beware playing with things you don't know about, kids!

No ringing/vibrate on incoming calls- notifications seem ok though

Hi all,
I've just done a search on this and have found a few posts but none with a conclusive answer to my problem.
I have upgraded to Schaps 4.x ROM and all has been fine for a good few weeks, then without [knowningly] changing anything, the phone has stopped ringing or vibrating no matter what ring tone/type I select. I still see the pop-up of the name/number of person calling but no sound whatsoever.
When I play the sample tones (using the play button in sounds & notifications) the ringer plays fine. Also other notifications (SMS, Email, etc) seem to be fine.
Anyone experienced this and found a solution?
Many thanks.
Now thats a coincendence as I'm seem to have extactly the same problem.
Not all the time thou and I have recently flashed my phone with Farias new rom.
I couldn't be bothered to diagnose the problem any more than I have already have so just did a hard-reset and finished installing my apps. I forgot to create a working back-up before and will do one this time!
It would still be good to know if this problem does get resolved.
yes, i have the same problem with
Shamanix`s WM6 Ultimate v2, which is based on Schaps 4.x ROM i presume.
so it looks like a bug in the OS itself, or maybe something in Schaps Advanced Config Tools.
because sometimes Vibration starts working (sometimes for a couple of hours, sometimes just until the next call, sometimes for a couple of days) and then it doesnt work again.

Actually, sorry, my mistake in my original post, I used to have the Schaps ROM but then changed it to Shamanix one too- based on Schaps though like you've mentioned.
Anyway, I got just a bit annoyed with it and like I said, did a hard-reset. I re-installed all the same apps and no problems so far. Not sure what triggered the problem though.
the same problem exactlly, I flashed Faria - the last -I think it is a 6.1 error
Phone ringer resets itself to silent.
Just to be clear about the problem I am having, my phone periodically turns off the ringer and vibrate and goes to silent without any prompting.
I first noticed this when I flashed to a Faria's first 6.1 rom. It was suggested that the Home "profiles" tab had something to do with this. Apparently the "Auto" switch in the profile tab is supposed to turn off the ringer during appointments. I have not ever used the profiles, and in fact I usually disable the profiles tab in HTC home. Also at that time, I found that the ringer would be randomly turned off even when there were no appointments scheduled.
I switched to a 6.0 rom and continued to have the same issues. I have flashed a OEM rom and reflashed the newest Faria 6.1 rom and I am still having the ringer turn to silent, however now it does seem to be primarily when an appointment is scheduled, though I have never set it to "Auto" in the profiles.
Does anyone have any suggestions on how to stop this? It is frustrating to be missing calls every day.
seems it is a very old problem:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=279920
maybe it is something with Hermes hardware problem?
another thread about it:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=288728&highlight=mute;+no+sound
mostly everybody who has this problem start having it NOT after flashing\updating software, but after sometime of just using a device. so it SEEMS to be a hardware problem with some contacts, which brake\disconnect cuz of vibrations and\or just oxidation\corrosion.
I have the same problem, and I don't think the above threads are the same thing. The ringer just doesn't work for incoming calls, regardless of which ringtone I use. I have it set to ring and vibrate, and up until a couple days ago, it would at least vibrate, but no ring. I was ok with that, but now it won't vibrate. I do get the voicemail notification sounds, and I get sound for incoming text messages. Vibrate also works with text messages and such.
And now that I'm typing this, I just received a call, and the phone vibrated! It was set to ring and vibrate, though. At least it's vibrating again, but I miss my ringtones!
I'm running K's rom version 1.31 right now, but I'll be installing K's final rom as soon as the download finishes. I also plan on installing all my programs one by one and soft resetting in between. Hopefully if it's a software conflict causing this, I can narrow it down that way.

same here.. i already try installing a few diff rom.. but it still cant fix the mute problem.. can anyone else help us? hmm
I got K's final rom installed, and I finished installing all of my crap. My ringtones work fine now. I have to say, I wish I would have installed this rom earlier; it's much faster. I think I'm going to backup my registry now, so if the ringtones do quit working again, I can at least prove whether or not the registry had the problem. I'll update if I learn anymore about this.
Like I mentioned in a earlier thread, I installed Shamanix`s WM6 Ultimate v2 ROM which was about 5 weeks ago; ringtones were working perfectly and all of a sudden they stopped.
I'm not sure if I did 'something' by accident to cause this problem. But having reflashed using the EXACT same ROM and apps, the ringtones are working fine again.

Phantom Alarms (Alarm goes off randomly & won't stop)

All,
I am running the v23 ROM and have the following problem.
I had an alarm set for 07:15am Pacific Time US. I got a SIM error on my t-mobile service (phone was showing gprs, but no support) for a while. Looked to be a t-mobile issue. Anyhow that got resolved. I disabled the alarm (no bell shone on home screen, alarm1 disabled, alarm 2 disabled). However it didn't really disable. So now I am in Florida and it goes off at 10:00am every day. There is nowhere that I can find to reset this. It is kinda like having a phone with Tourette's syndrome it shouts and screams at immorpotune times. Any ideas how to locate the offending alarm and nuke it?
Thanks

Dang. That sounds like the "phantom alarm" issue with 6.0. This is the first case I've heard of in 6.1... I don't use rickwyatt's ROM, so I don't know what apps it has included. Does it use Oxios Alarms?
AHHHHHHHHH !!!!!!!!!!!
Sorry, I had to let it out. I'm sick and tired of this DAMN ALARM myself. Seriously, it starts SCREAMING, LITERALLY at the most random times especially in important settings. Last week, I was in University in my class when a group was presenting and out of nowhere, my phone starts going crazy. It was so embarassing because it's so LOUD and the entire class kept staring at me and i couldn't get it to switch off. Eventually, I turned it off but then 15 mins later, it happened again. It's honestly getting very annoying cause it keeps happening randomly even when the alarm's off.
I know how to fix it and I did fix it but it still happens. I have no idea how to get rid of it forever because honestly, it's the most annoying thing when it starts going crazy in class/meetings or anywhere other than your house.
If I find a fix for it, I'll post it here.
I think this is an error in the programming , but there may be a way to (band-aid) fix it. Meaning it will come back but you can continually fix it using this program. Go and find SK Tools (lite version) and theres an option to clear out alarms and notifications. That should (band-aid) fix it.

I am going to see what I can do by checking out the registry and hopefully I will get back to you guys asap.
ok, guys I don't know how many of you are experiencing this Phantom Alarm issue but it seriously is bothering me.
I'm running Kavana's 6.1 ROM and used SK Tools to delete notifications from the notifications queue. Even though, I deleted all alarms - I still experienced the same issue today morning. Instead of 8 to 10 popups, i had only 2 so atleast, that's better but seriously it's PRETTY ANNOYING!!!
I'm going to look into this and try posting a fix. If someone came across a permanant fix, please post here. Thanks.

OMG! I just checked the notifications queue again. The DAMN alarms are back again. I just deleted them last night. Jeez
So far, I've only found one fix and that is using SKTools. I don't know how to get rid of these for good.
I'm going to try again, delete them - reboot and see if they come back. Hopefully not. If not, I'll have to look for an another way to fix this damned bug.
EDIT: WHT THE HELL?! I deleted them again and same issue, their back. AHH, this is really getting to me because it goes off in my university classes, during lectures/exams (even when the phone is on silent) and even if the alarm is turned off. It's happened before so it's not the ROM, I have Kavana's ROM and I've experienced this with WM6 as well. Ok, I seriously need another way to fix this. Yeah, I know I can shut the phone but what about the other times I have it on? This is annoying.
I wish someone could get to the bottom of this. I heard about the problem with WM6.0, so I never set alarms, just in case.
I've already used the alarms once with WM6.1, figuring it was a non-issue, but I'll definitely wait on using them again until someone says this issue is resolved.
So far, I haven't experienced any phantom alarms with Ricky v23 yet.
Bro, I'm runnning Kavana's ROM for a while now and this started happening since 2 weeks. I never had this issue before and I've checked everything and it just won't go away. I shouldn't have set any DAMN alarms. It's so damn annoying.
I'm still looking for the fix. I've only come across only one fix so far and it's the SkTools and for some reason, even if I delete them - it comes back again.

I don't think this issue is as prevalent in 6.1 as it was in 6.0. I'm using Kavana's 080408 which comes with Oxios Alarms embedded in the ROM. I haven't had to delete the Notification Queues in SKTools once. However, when I did delete the Queues in 6.0, it fixed my alarm bug permanently.
Ok guys, good news. I just checked my notifications queue in SKTools and the damn bug is GONE and hope it's gone forever. Give this a try - Here's the instructions:
Phantom Alarm Bug
There is a reported issue of multiple alarms going off even though the alarm is turned off in Settings. There is no known permanent fix at this point.
Phantom alarms can be cleaned up by following these instructions:
1. Load SKTools Smartphone Edition (Clean up and uninstaller utility)
2. Select View -> Maintenance -> Notifications Queue
3. Scroll to the bottom of the list and there should be multiple entries already checked for “Clock.exe”.
4. Select Action -> Delete marked
5. Do a soft reset (turn off then back on).

Wiki'd....until your alarm goes off again
That would be wonderful, but when I download the SK Tools, it comes in as an invalid zip file. Grrrrrr
Been running kavana wm 6.1 since feb with no phantom alarm problems. I would get the phantom alarms within 1 week of flashing the old 6.0 rom. I change what time I get up almost every day. Plus I change the second alarm maybe 3times a week. It has never acted up so far.... I don't really use the reminders for appointments maybe that's why. Maybe you did not flash the rom before you upgraded. If you synched with your computer and then erased the memory after upgrading to the current rom. I believe that would fix any problems you were having. Ricky's has a nice keyboard selector on first boot so you might want to upgrade.
My phone running WM5 started doing it too. Never used the alarms until a recent trip, and unfortunately I chose the Dog Bark sound. Man it's annoying. (which is the whole point of an alarm, but it shouldn't go off if it's set to disabled)
Not so phantom just late?
Im using 6.1 040408 remade by rickywatt and my alarms seem to wake up late...? I set the alarm and the icon is on the screen the phone is on normal profile with the volume on not silent or anything and then its off to sleep, only to discover the next morning that my alarm was a no show... sometimes as soon as I press a key the alarm starts ringing... other times nothing. I checked out the posts on alarm problems but i have not found this problem.... any ideas?
S-K-Tools Worked to Remove Phantom Alarm
I just bought "SKTools Best maintenance toolkit" to remove a Phantom Alarm from my HTC Touch Pro2 that was going off every morning at 4am...and am happy to report that it worked.
Once the software was downloaded and installed I ran a clean-up of the Notifications Queue to "delete duplicates". Note that the free trial version wasn't enough. As reported below, "Clock.exe" is the correct item name to delete, but in my case, there was no time showing up in the time column for the phantom alarm so I couldn't tell which one it was.
Finally, I've been very impressed with all the other stuff I can easily do with this product to clean the garbage out of my phone. Hopefully this will translate into better performance in the days ahead.

Help Need alarm Please help

I have never seen this addressed before so I am starting a new thread.
I am running official 6.1, google maps with valhala, and skyfire.I just returned from a trip out west. Yesterday morning my alarm went off.....with the previous day's time, but I had no alarms set at that time. I turned off phone took out battery rebooted to see if that fixed the problem. I also deleted all descriptions, unchecked all alarms, and all days (current unchecked times 5:30,5:40 and 6:05).
Alarm went off again this morning at 5:20a, 6:00a, and then the strange stuff at 6:20a, 7:20a, 8:20a (but this time alarm time reads 5:20a all with the previously deleted description "work"). I need help Short of Hard reset, any ideas or has anyone seen this kind of thing? Note: never had this problem before 6.1.
Spoke to VZ Tech help they've never heard of anything like this, Hard Reset this morning
