I'm using the Tmobile dash, How can I know whether the mobile unlocked or not? - HTC Excalibur

Is any little software to detect it?
For me the payment for unlocked this device is expensive. So before the unlocked, I want to confirm that the device is Really locked by the service provider.
Thanks,
Any one can provide suggestions?
Benny Ng

Put in a sim from a different operator. If you don't have one borrow a friends. If it works and doesn't mention sim locked when it starts up then its unlocked.

Then I think my mobile has already unlocked.
This device is given by my mother. And my mother has already let the service provider to unlocked the machine. (in US)
and after that, my mother send this device to me. And now i'm using the mobile smoothly in China. *surely using the china-mobile's SIM card*
So for your opinions, I think this mobile i needn't to pay money for unlocking again.
^-^~

anyone knows hot to check it?

----------

about 'unlock' there are 3 concepts here in the forum
1, SIM-unlock, this could be checked via above methods, says, putting a different SIM card to see if the mobile function could be used, if yes, then it's unlocked.
2, CID-unlock, this could be checked via some software (i.e. mtty) , in general, most of the first-hand sold mobiles are NOT cid-unlocked.
Currently there are no free applications for above unlocking. u will need to pay in imei-check website to get ur mobile unlocked.
3, Application-unlocked. this could be done with a free application unlocker.

can this be used to see if your unit is cid unlocked or is it only for finding out if the phone is sim unlocked?

This app declared my device to be unlocked, but it is not. Perhaps it tested App or CID, not SIM.

Possible Code Genereator
I'm not sure how the unlock codes are generated or if they are just random, but my question is If someone who is good at algorithms looks at some of the IMEI and the associated unlock codes could there be a program written that basically generates Unlock codes by using that algorithm?

Help with an USA mobile phone

Hi guys,
a friend of mine had bought a HTC in USA last month (he live in Italy) and he would know what he has to do to use the phone here.
I don't know if this mobile phone is "under contract", he told me not but i'm not sure of it.
So i would know what i have to do with this mobile phone.
I don't know the model of the phone, i know it's not a smartphone and it has got a QWERTY keyboard..
Thank to everyone who could help me..
if the phone is sim unlocked, then you just have to change the sim and you're good to go
if it is sim locked, then you can either a) contact the original provider and get an unlock code, or b) go to the specific forum for the device and use the unlocker made for it

Sim unlock galaxy nexus? ? ? ?

I was looking into this last night. I thought it would be easy but seems I was wrong.
How is it that, if you have root, you cant just delete all files connected with the sim lock. Or, if you install a custom rom, wouldn't that just overwrite all the lock crap???
Try it and see if it works. My guess would be no... You'll probably need to contact your operator and tell them to unlock it for you.
there is a way to sim unlock galaxy s. isnt it possible to use that method for galaxy nexus?

Took them 15 minutes for a code. £16.00
Just in case you need it.
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using xda premium
The simlock isn't store on the OS. Its in a non voltatile section of the radio - the same place that holds unique information like your phone serial number (IMEI) etc.
You need to use one of those online services who obtain it with a service center contract directly from samsung.

I'm confused. I thought all Nexus phones come unlocked. Or are there different definitions of "unlocked" ?
Hi
I have an IMEI unlock codes server, and I can provide unlock codes for all Samsung phones locked on European networks.
All models are compatible, even the most recent.
The unlock by imei don't make you loose your warranty, and it's permanent.
It's the easiest way to unlock your phone.
All you have to do is power on your phone with an unaccented sim card, type the provided unlock code, and the phone will be unlocked for ever.
The only info that I need is the IMEI of the phone. (type *#06# to see the IMEI)
And the model of the phone.
Delivery time: half hour normally.

Well:
There are unlock codes, depending on the carrier you're locked to.
There's application for temporary unlock and permanent unlock, but you'll loose your IMEI on permanent unlock: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1548210.
There's my not very well tested method for perm unlock with IMEI intact: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1606982
Yes, it's not easy for now. But we're getting there.

So how does one check which carrier/ country the device is locked to?
I have to specify the country+carrier to get an unlock code, but how can I tell?

Unlocking it will allow you to use different networks. Eg. If you got a phone off at&t but want to use verizon network then unlock the phone and you can use verizon and at&t

First you need a sim from another network provider. Once you have it put it in then enter the pin you got given. Its now unlocked. Lastly some networks do work with others so to check if you have an unlocked network already go into call settings and network service (may be called something different on your phone depending on current network) unlocked networks appear with a home sign/any sign that isnt a red cross (again depending on network) or go to a place that unlocks phones. Simplez.

The process seems simple enough, but from where would I obtain the PIN? I know there are various websites and whatnot, but is there one that people have used in the past with success? I just want to be sure, because I'm looking at buying a used Galaxy W, but don't want to be stuck with it locked on Bell..

The pin will come on the paper the sim comes with. If you buy it off a contract it will be unlocked for you as long as you only use the network providers sim that you got the contract off.

Alright, I got my Rogers SIM card last year, but I don't know where any of the packaging currently resides. But if I call rogers, they should be able to provide me with this information?
Sorry, it just seems counter intuitive that information with my sim card would unlock a newer, off carrier phone.

You might (only might) get the pin off them. There should be a default pin set for every sim at the start. All sims coming from the same mobile network provider have one pin.

EE UK Sim Unlock

Hey guys, the only Pixel phones currently sim unlocked are the UK EE models, has anyone figured a way out to unlock these yet without waiting until contract expires or paying EE
There has been a solution, same as for Verizon bootloader's I believe. Have a look in skipsofts tool thread, you will find the link there ?
Or you can go here

That's really odd, I got mine on EE and it takes my three sim no problem.

My bad, miss read
@ your local phone so maybe?
normally to get the unlock code you have to request on the back of your contract, likely if you bought the phone second hand the seller didn't unlock it because EE makes you wait 6 months and has a £9 fee while still in contract.
so chances are there is no easy way to unlock the device (unlocking bootloader and rooting doesn't remove the sim lock they are both very different things) without paying EE or another firm who claim to be able to get the unlock codes but as far as that goes it's how much you are willing to trust such firms.
so in short if it is your phone and you are with EE, you need to have been a customer with EE 6 months (not sure if you can short cut this by getting it as an upgrade) have your bill in good standing and pay a £9 fee, then they will give you the unlock code. if you got the phone second hand I would imagine you're pretty stuck.
any updates regarding ee simlock unlock?
Hi .I got the same problem .got phone from ee and only ee sim working .all other sim cards its just says no sim card inside and after a while its says sim not supported or simthings ..n also not asking for any unlock code aswell .

I figured that'd be the case. Thanks. First time I've had to obtain one and actually got it. Their customer support is not so great. They acted like I was asking for the impossible and continued to tell me it is unlocked. I said dude it says it is locked to you! I know the bootloader is I guess nearly impossible to unlock. Apparently only dev editions can be unlocked. Surely they have the tools do such. Not sure if I'll get a Motorola again. It's basically owning something you don't fully own.

I did have a little Moto X XT1060 I think? I think it might have been a dev edition. Was a pretty good phone. Most of those (non carrier branded) won't be sold in retail stores I wouldn't imagine so I guess you have to buy online? I have purchased unlocked phones on Ebay. I was just in a jam for this one and got it from Wal-Mart and on top of that it had a sorry 14-day return policy. That is asinine.

Can I unlock the bootloader or at least remove the SIM lock somehow so I can use it with my mint SIM?
Thanks

nah dude, unless you can hack the bootloader, you're pretty much stuck there. The problem is the key is generated by a program on their end, so unless you get access to this program( literally impossible) or hack the bootloader you can't access it. Its like if they gave you a pad lock without the key. You would have to look through the lock mechanism and trick it into opening, but there is probably some issues along if you can even achieve this

Hi
so finally att sent me an unlock code.
i can't however unlock the bootloader. not even via https://motorola-global-portal.custhelp.com/app/standalone/bootloader/unlock-your-device-b where if i inspect the page and make the "get my code" button appear it drops me to a 404 otherwise i copypaste the requested code (including #s) it says "Your device does not qualify for bootloader unlocking." the phone has att logo on it and at boot the att logo pops up too. but why can i put in now other sim, but can't upload another firmware? makes no sense.
is there a way to unlock bootloader somehow nowadays?
the phone also powers up to fastboot which i can't seem to fix either.
thanks
no test point? no "hack"? i'm stuck with att branded software? what a garbage...
