anyone notice a yellow hue on the xda #iis when at an angle???
They are all like that
can't say i've noticed it on mine... I did have that problem on my Ipaq 4150 though.
Just received 11 x IIs and haven't noticed a problem with any so far (seems to be a better screen than the iPaq 4150)
The screen is garbage!!! I hate my O2 XDAIIs. The XDAII was such a better unit. Windows Mobile SE is very limited to software that you can use as well. Wifi works good, but thats about it. I had issues with mine turning on by itself! lol The SD cards half the time wouldn't read so you would have to do a softboot. Is the unit even capable of using a mmc card? I couldn't get my 1gb mmc card to work, but my 512 sd did work after numerous softboots.
Every program I have works fine on my PDA2K (same machine). Almost all of them had the pop-up saying it wasn't designed for this version etc. etc., but install anyway and they work fine.
My screen isn't garbage, not sure what you are complaining about.
I can't remember anywhere that it says the SD slot can read MMC, XDA IIs/PDA2K advertising. I know this is possible on some SD slots, but they actually mention it from what I remember reading.
Are you using a generic SD version or a major brand? I haven't had any issues with all the SD cards we've deployed (except one failed and had to be replaced by Sandisk). We have a mix of generic brands, Sandisk normal and Sandisk ULTRA (way faster than anything else).
i can use sd & mmc cards on my mda 3 no problem
Unluckily mine's screen turns also into hard yellow when looking at it in not 90 degrees Anyone has any ideas against this? Like some contrast tool? Maybe I'll make some picturesa of the screen from different angles and post them here, so you can compare them to yours...
the new blue angel device's screen is garbage.. just like the new Himalaya screens.. yellow hue.. not readable in any angle other than 90.. and a big contrast problem...
my i-mate has the best screen i've seen ever in a pocket pc.. it was bought more than a year ago and ive never seen any screen like mine..
HTC has changed their screen suppliers.. i have known before that the Himalaya screens are made by sony... this was the case when the xda II was first introduced to the world... but after that they changed the screen in order to make more funds...
the same story:
a small company will give you more features than a big company for the same money...
the small company gets bigger..
now the small company is a big company..
and we have to find another small company to get great devices
one word..
I'm using my old i-mate and ive sold my pda2k
Solution:
I'll buy a damaged XDA II for cheap, take the screen out and put it in my PDA2k, what do you think? )
screen is absolute junk
Got my QTEK 9090 yesterday. Great little device. I like everything about it but 1 thing: the screen. It is absolute garbage  !!! Speaking of yellow hue, this screen is junk. Amazing that they sell this at all. My 2,5 yrs old XDA I has a much better screen. Luckily this QTEK is a loaner (the Dutch importer couldn't deliver yet but promised he could, so we all got demo units for the time being).
I think we will cancel the order and look for something else. The only question is: for what :?: What other device is comparable to the QTEK 9090 but has a decent screen :?:

this seems the only solution.. I'm ready to buy another Blue Angel and do this but where??
where can i send my two devices to change the screen...
another thing.. i don't think it's that easy to replace the screens... because i once sent an i-mate to ppctechs and they told me that they can replace SOME screens while they cant replace SOME.. so if HTC have more than one screen connectors for one model what do you think for two??
Xda IIi screen quality question
Who knows if the new Xda IIi (also known as HTC "Alpine") has the same yellow hue quality issue as the HTC "Blue Angel" ? If not we'll abandon the QTEK 9090 and go for the Alpine.
Another reason apart from the outrageous screen quality is the slider keyboard. My colleagues are quite big guys with big hands and fingers. It's quite impossible for them to press just 1 key at a time with their fat fingers, so for them the slider keyboard is quite unusable. And since it adds up to the size of the device, why not leave it out we're thinking.
Weird, I got my xdaIIs a few days ago and can see No discolouring at all, the screen is readable upto a near 45 degree angle, AND i am using a screen protector!, mabye it was just a bad batch, my screen is amazingly sharp
I had an old ipaq previously, that was slightly yellowy but not too bad, this is better
There is always compromises manufacturers have to make with a tft......
Yes, there is a yellow hue wich I don't have on my MDA II, but if I hold my Qtek 9090 outside in the daylight it is much better to read than my MDA II.
I think calling the Qtek 9090 screen carbage is extremely exaggerated.
I also get the yellow-screen problem on my 9090.
However, the quality of the screen in general *seems* to be better than on all the 2020's in the office.

these "all 2020's" you talk about are from the "new screen devices" search for someone with an "old" 2020 and see how better his/her device is..

I've heard a lot about this daylight reading thing...
but that's nothing..
I didnt buy the pda2k to read it in the sunlight.. it's a pda which is in 99% you dont have to use at daylight...
still im searching for someone who is able to replace my old xdaII screen with blue angel device..
new QTEK 9090 with great screen

Yeah, for all those *****in' about their screens, you need to take your unit back and swap it for the latest batch (unless the store is still trying to get rid of units from the original batch). The latest batch seems fine. Loads of people are now reporting great screens, fantastic voice quality (mine is the best of any cellphone I've ever used), solid keyboards and good wi-fi. Though the bluetooth is still garbage and will be until the ROM updates are released.
I'm about to purchase an i-mate PDA2k (couldn't get my older i-mate to work with the Sandisk 256MB + Wi-Fi SD Card). Still mixed feelings between the PDA2k and the whatever i-mate calls the XDAIIi (haven't seen it yet from i-mate). I have the option of purchasing the PDA2k from several places. How can one tell if it is from the latest batch? Serial Number? ROM version? Screen color identical to older i-mate?
When I first bought my universal I was terrified by the T-mobile-look, so I decided to buy me some tools to disassemble it and to change the colour. Has anyone experienece with this issue? I have the qtek-manual but I am not quiet sure if this plan really works. I want to revarnish my mda pro in more proper colours but I am afraid that the varnishment could disturb the connectivity.
Feel free to give me some comments or simply a url where I can buy a qtek-housing, I am not willing to keep this terrible t-mobile housing;-(
thx!
I would buy some more housing from ebay and modify that, and keep your original casing as a fall-back.
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=130070502699 is one example, you could take this and respray it and add a nice finish to it. There are others listed, including a jet black one (which I personally think is sexy) but it costs nearly double.
Hope this helps.
Depends on how good your paint job is. Example

Red Incredible 2. It's battery door shall be mine.
http://www.phonedog.com/2011/11/18/red-htc-droid-incredible-2-tipped-to-be-available-starting-november-24th/
It'd be kooler if it had the red keys to match, and was a tad darker red.

Looks pretty good, but I have to agree darker red would be a little better. May look better in person though.
Glad to see that the Inc2 is still getting attention, even if it is just a color change. Still the best 3g phone on Vzw
Same color as the Inc1 oem battery cover replacement.
They haven't offered the white battery cover yet... Hopefully they'll release this one though

Man you beat me to the link. I guess I will just have to cough cough borrow a red battery cover when they come in...... "Verizon I opened my shipment toady and one of my red incredible 2 has a black battery cover...."

Dress up
Well after two levels of dress up I wonder if they ever got around to upgrading the lousy headphone jack.
I would have sent it back the day I got it but the locked down upgrade came out the following Monday. I had it rooted and running CM7 that weekend.
Is any one else having trouble with the headphone jack?
I bet the next color out will be green or blue...
It seems a lot of work to go through to achieve what a skin could do.
I can't help but think that maybe there is some kind of hardware upgrade going on.

In this case, I think black looks better.
It almost looks pink to me. No headphone jack issues with mine, check for lint balls
I'm not a fan of it, i like the black Dinc2. Makes me feel like i'm batman.
I don't know why anyone would want a different color. I have a seido active case and i wouldn't be able to show off the color anyways. Kind of pointless in my opinion.
I have the Griffin Reveal case. Black around the sides and clear back. Looks great with a red battery cover

Actually Loving the Incipio Red Featherlight case
I got the Red Incipio Featherlight case and I think it looks better than a "Red" phone from the pics I have seen. The Featherlight Red case is a great pearlescent red, and looks incredible. I think Red/Black looks less tacky than all Red.
I really like the case it is really thin, I don't drop my phone ever but still would like some "protection".
I want the red and white one i love this phone

I have problems with my headphone jack as well. I've found that some plug ends seem to do better than others. That is my only complaint about the phone. As far as color goes, with the otterbox defender you can't really see the color any way.
the shade of red looks quite ugly.
Free Red DInc II + 4GB internal mem.
I may have been misinformed, but my Red DInc II will be here Tuesday with what I was told will be 4GB of internal memory and a preinstalled 8GB SD Card.
We agreed that it most likely would NOT come with ICS.
The hboot will hopefully be rootable....
Will keep everyone updated.
Edit:
Well it looks like the 4GB NAND internal memory is the same as the memory on the black DInc II that we can only access a portion of .
FYI - being Black Friday, VZW online is offering the RED DI2 free with new 2 year activation and mandatory data (300MB for $20 for light users) - AND, for line upgrade/family shared line, I'm showing it as being "FREE" as well & it's true even for secondary line. The regular "black" DI2 is still priced at $99+ and not seeing availability for the white DI2. A decent Amazon TPU case & shield can easily take care of the all red look.
To switch DW's aging LG Env3 non-smartphone to DI2 with 300MB is still overpriced considering that I'm in the grandfathered unlimited web & email plan with 22% corporate discount for $23.40. But, I supposed one could get it to play & downgrade *** the bootloader, root it & so forth - and have a spare one on hand by switching the device later on, and, cancel the data if she doesn't like it & reactivate an older device ....
*** assuming that HBoot isn't newer than .98 and can be rolled back, if nothing else, just to get rid of all that silly bloatware from Big Red
Can anyone tell us if the color is any better than the horrendous bleh red in the pics? I am really hoping the photos of that phone aren't doing the color justice.
its the same color as the red battery cover that the verizon store sold for the original Inc. Bright red. It'll look great as a battery cover but waaaay too much for a whole phone. I'm sure someone with a red phone would love a black oem battery cover
Hey all, So my white nexus has a cracked glass. I know to replace it would cost me about $150 since It's recommend to replace the whole kit. How much do you think i can sell this phone on ebay? Wondering if It's worth selling instead of fixing. I do like the phone but I rather put that $150 towards another phone. Maybe Nexus 4 when it comes back in stock. Pic attached. Thank you for your feedback..

There are a lot of factors that can apply when selling damaged items. For example, if any of the internals are salvageable or if the device is able to boot. Anyway, from my research on sold items on ebay the normal (grey) Galaxy Nexus - "sold for parts" can be as little as $30 and as high as $130. In your case most buyers would want the body to be in perfect condition so that they can do a body swap with their grey colored ones or a screen swap. Considering the fact that ones that work are selling for $275-$399 I believe you could get to $150 if you tried. Just my opinion though. I cannot say for a fact you will get that much. It all depends if the market is there. You can always set a reserve on ebay so if bidders don't bid up to or past the reserve then the item doesn't sell. Just an idea. Good luck!
