XDA II upgrade - Upgrading, Modifying and Unlocking

Hello, I have recently bought a XDA II Model no. PH10B, ROM Ver 1.72.00WWE, Ext Rom 1.72.181.
My questions are:
Q1: I had ext rom 1.72.187 before, Whenever I clicked on O2 Active-->Connections, it always showed the country as Germany [checked]. Whenever I change that to UK, it reboots but then comes back to Germany. I downloaded Rom from O2 official site thinking that might fix the problem. It downgraded the ext rom from 1.72.187 to 1.72.181 but did not fix the problem. I am wondering if you can help me with it.
Q2: I have been using Tesco Mobile Sim on my old D500 phone, when I bought this phone I changed over the sim, everything works except the internet. I called Tesco to find out the settings but their tech support said I cannot use internet on this phone. I know Tesco is a reseller customer of O2 and uses same settings. My question is, is there anyway I can use my XDA II using Tesco sim to browse the net?
Q3: I am downloading new ROM Windows Mobile 5 v1.60a + Ext ROM 2.20from [http://en.pdamobiz.com/en/forum/PDAforum_posts.asp?TID=361&PN=1]
will this solve my country and internet problem?
waiting for your kind reply
Kind Regards
Jay

Vodafone V1640 UK - ROM Updates

Having already used the O2 XDA, O2 XDAII and the O2 XDAIIs I have been spoilt by O2's ROM updates via their own website.
The problem I have is that by changing to Vodafone I now have no facilities via the Vodafone website to do the same. How do you update your ROM if you have a Vodafone V1640?
Would appreciate your comments

If you love O2, you can flash the O2 ROM onto your Vodafone Device without problems.
Just use the search button on how this is done.
Thank you. I am a little concerned that the O2 ROM will erase my Vodafone settings as well as conflict with Vodafone protocols. I understand that the ROMs will have the same Microsoft Mobile 5 updates but also embedded are the phone company's unique settings and addional programs.
Do you know whether Vodafone issue ROM updates and if so how do you obtain them?
Thank you for your help and assistance
Why do you want to change the rom, (is there problems with the vodafone Rom) and what other programs are on the Vodafone Rom that you would loose.
As for settings you can enter all settings anyway into any rom as far as I know.
There is nothing wrong with the current ROM. I just want to stay up to date. New ROMs normally (and I say this tongue in cheek) have improved facilities.
The O2 site does not allow my V1640 (or in the O2 case XDA Exec) to be updated by their ROM as the IMEI does not tally up as being an O2 valid product.
I guess it's back to the drawing board for my quest.
just add the number 3 right before the .html and even if u dont have a correct imei, you can access the site of O2
Thank you. I will give that a try.
Will it erase all my Vodafone settings?
All Hard Resets / Full ROM Upgrades erase everything. I believe some roms have CAB files with operator settings. Download the Imate ROM, Install, then look for the VODAFONE .CAB file in the extended ROM, copy it to PC, then Upgrade to O2 ROM then run the CAB file that you copied to the PC

Is my trinity HTC P 3600 locked to vodafone uk?

I took delivery today of a HTC P3600 refereed to here as an Trinity. system details are:
OS 5.1465 (build 15763.3.31)
ROM version 1.23.405.2
ROM date 03/11/07
radio version 1.38.00.11
protocol version 32.71 7020 12w
ext ROM version 1.23.405.108
model TRN100
This Came from Vodafone UK and is packaged in a HTC P3600 box with no mention of Vodafone anywhere on the box or in the documentation apart from welcome to network paperwork and Vodafone Sim card. I have registered it on the HTC website and it seems happy with the serial number taken from the box and informs of upgrades I can download.
As I am porting my old number in a few days, I put my "3" network Sim in it and to my surprise it worked and appears to be a unlocked handset. It was also supplied in black in spite of me trying to get it in black and being told it was only available in silver. The only Vodafone on on it is it shows the Vodafone screen as it boots up.
As yet I have not put in the new Vodafone Sim and I don't know if when I do this the handset will then be locked to to Vodafone.
I would like to upgrade to mobile 6 and wonder if it is safe to do so before I put the Vodafone Sim in.
Can anyone tell me if this handset is locked to or likely to become locked to Vodafone and what are you recommendations on upgrading to mobile 6.

Sry for My Bad english :'(
Have you also tried the Radio-Rom "T-Mobile WM6 Radio - 4.1.13.34_02.79.90 " from http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=332195 ?
Re-Flash Kavana or Ricky's 6.1 ROM - It's stickied. Choose either one of them.
Set it up. Pop in your SIM Card and Try again.
Check if your phone is off just incase (in the settings).
If you've done everything and you still can't get the gsm signal and it keeps searching, then either you have a problem where you live or your phones defective. Did you try going outside? Maybe you have a weak signal where you live? Let us know.
Good Luck!
ok,Have Reflashed.-No help
The Phone is Activated
Outside also No Signal
The Signal here is Good, with my Other S620 (MDA Mail without wifi)
i have no Problems
Ahh, That Sucks then all I can think of that there's something wrong with your phone i.e. it's defective. Get it replaced !
Good Luck.
Just wondering does the original rom work that came with your phone. Also what is your provider.

HTC_S620_WWE_1.27.405.1_4.1.13.44_02.94.90_Ship
This Worked Fine
The HTC is an US Device (QWERTY),i Use it here in Europe (Austria) with an Mobilkom Austria-A1 Sim Card
I Reflashed it Now,but no Help

Ummm you might need to configure the settings on that phone because you said the original rom worked however the new one didn't. Here try this on the new rom that you have installed (assuming its the 6.1 by Ricky if not download it from below in my signature). After you installed it or have it installed then go to accessories and connection setup and that should get you rolling.

Does Anyone Have The MDA Compact IV 1.93 Rom?

I have a UK MDA Compact IV running the official 1.37 rom, I have read through some of the threads posted here that some users were getting back their UK MDA Compact IV's from repair center with the new Tmobile 1.93 roms flashed on there. I was hoping there was a dump of this rom somewhere? Tmobiles UK site doesn't even have the phone listed in the support section! Any help would be appreciated.
it'd be nice to have this as well, as you said, t-mobile lack any kind of support or mentioning of the phone on the site
Strange, in the past 2 weeks ive bought 2 MDAC's (one for me and one for the missus) and both came with 1.37.
T-Mobile UK reply
Just read this thread and there answer that I received from T-Mobile UK about update
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=443465
= (
Yeah uk t-mobile is so behind the other countries t-mobile
My MDA went in for repair for camera fault and came back with 1.93 (and still had the camera fault) they have now given me a replacement phone with 1.37.
The short while I had 1.93 it seemed much quicker than this so would also be interested in the new one if any one has it?
Also spoke to T-mobile they replied with "Not aware of any update" most helpful.
My wifes T-MO compact IV went in for a screen repair, came back repaired looking brand new (same IMEI), but it had the 1.93 rom and 1.00.25.16 radio ROM on it. Yet my new handset came with 1.37 ROM and 1.00.25.03 radio ROM.
Tmobile official "German update" is avalaible throu download from t-mobile.de
think its the same for your MDA version its 1.97 already, also 1.93 is avail !
So try your t-mobile site -> Buisness center -> support / Downloads -> select you MDA Vendor select "t-Mobile". There you should get Official update, no need of an HardSPL and no warranty lost.
Also when i go to tmobile shop i can get them to update my device cost free here in germany, normaly takes them 3-4 hours then you can get ur device back
Is it possible to change the language of a stock ROM? i.e. Update to the latest German Compact IV ROM then change the language to English?

Nope I guess not. Besides that every language has it's own Manila-version so if you were able to change the system language there would still be the german manila.
i ve tried the german update and even though i have
no idea how to cook a rom and i can imagine that
this is really hard and time consuming work i really
think pupils on the lowest school grade could have
made it much better than tmobile. its that much laggu
that its realy not funny using this rom. but for
suppprt and warrenty i agree it might be usefull
having an original rom
Yeah, we just need one of the lucky few who actually get their phones back with the uk 1.93 rom to dump it for us.
I dont know why T-Mobile UK are dragging their heels. They hardly ever issue new ROMs. Vodafone UK have issued not one but two ROM updates for their Diamond.
After Sales Support at T-Mobile UK = "Get a new phone"
Even T-Mob.cz have a new ROM.
T-Mob UK want to force people to resort to illegal ROM updates.
If any T-Mob UK execs read this forum..... Please wake up and support the people who are bringing in your bread and butter
