I've been reading about most of these ROMS. Most are OS only. It's clear what is meant by the radio and SPL is untouched. But what does it mean when the EXT_ROM is not touched?
If it's not touched, can I get access to it in WM6? Can I install it just like it was installed in WM5?

yes you can... just use HTweakC and unlock and use the Ext_ROM... as all of the OS's i have seen built arent using the Ext_ROM
anotehr question: the OS_only rom, i'm guessing it still brings about a hard reset?

So do you suggest that after installing the OS, unlock the EXT_ROM and run the cabs? Or don't do anything with it?

dont run the cabs... you dont need to... and yes performing the OS upgrade hardreset your device...

if u install, for arguments sake, windows mobile 6 dark edition, unlock ure extrom with htweakc.
then u can view the contents of the rom. if there are files in there just delete them. then u can use it as program storage space.

It should be possible, but very dangerous to try and debug 8) I did not hear anything about JTAG
interface on Blueangel, that can/will recover the trashed
bootloader.

No need to flash your BA.
Linux does currently run from SD card, and you can boot it via haret.
So the only thing you have to do is make a backup of your windows data, since it will be lost after you booted linux.

I have the HTC S621 from Rogers in Canada. I tried to install Route66 Navigator 7 and it sayed that it couldn't modify some registery keys, so i tried to application unlock my s621 and with all the fixes and utility on the web nothing worked.
Is there a way to application unlock the S621 from rogers?
I don't need to fully unlock the phone, just application unlock would do for me.

Unfortunately you have to unlock your phone (CID,SIM) before the app unlock will work. I had the same issue and did not find any workaround... On the other hand, if you're going to fully unlock your phone, may I suggest flashing to an S620... To provent further issues. Read the step by step in the forums on how to complete your flash first or else you get a Euro keypad.

Paid for the unlock, then i was able to app unlock the phone.
Well i guess that i will have to do that then.
But putting the original HTC S620 WM5 or WM6 on my HTC will it improve speed? functionnalities? Or just make it possible to install any application and put in any SIM card that i want??

How do you execute the unlocker? Install on sd card then run app from pc? Or run from phone? How about the new rom? Not very clear on how to run these programs with active sync. First smartphone
MY question is... if I pay for the app unlock, and then install a ROM (say the T-Mobile WM6 beta or something of the sort) if that ROM has the locks in place again, do I have to pay AGAIN to re-unlock my phone apps?
Because that would really suck.

run the unlocker staright from your pc when your phone is plugged in and after it syncs. you dont need to put anything on the sd card at all. on your phone you will be asked if you want to install, hit yes, etc. same as running an install from your phone after that..

app unlock is free, CID/sim unlock is what costs money. you wouldn't have to pay to CID/sim unlock your phone it still will be. plus you have the unlocker already anyways. and you wouldn't pay for the app unlock cause it's free anyways.

If you use the signed registry editor from HTC you could have app unlocked.

It's cool.
And I think if they would just unlock it for you it would go against the reason they put the lock on it, to keep you with them. So I believe only 3rd party is the only way.

Aye it does. If it doesnt let you copy the exe on you need to copy the zip on and unzip the exe on your phone using an unzip utility.

That won't work because it needs RAPI to be activated. You definately need to use the HTC registry editor I mentioned, that will def work. Post what your actual problem with that method is.

RAPI is remote api, which is something that you execute from the comp when the phone is connected - i.e. why its called remote.
RAPI is disabled on most operator's branded phones, hence why your file doesn't work on the Rogers one. You need to unlock using the HTC registry editor i mentioned by running it on your phone.

I Really Really want to install BB Connect on my Rogers S621, currently running the T-Mo WM6 software.
To do so, I need to app unlock it.

Yes it does. That was clear, that wasn't what I was asking. What I was asking was what version of WM6 you are running.

I already tried that app twice, but I just tried it a third time. It said it may not work properly because it was designed for a previous version of windows mobile, and it didn't work.
I will try the other method you mentioned once I get to a computer. thanks.

I have never done any reg edits, and am just quessing my way through this... Is this correct?
-I installed and ran PHM Registry Editor,
Selected: HKEY_LOCAL_MAC...
Selected: Security
Selected: Policies
Selected: Policies
Hit: Values
Scrolled down to 0000101b and selected it
Here is what it reads:
Value Name: 0000101b
Value data: 1
Bace: Decimal
Value type: REG DWORD
I still get the same error message when I try to install BB Connect. What did I do wrong? Or what else can I try?

Well i just installed bb connect on mine with no problem maybe you should try a non branded rom but dont know how to use it so going to uninstall it

No, I'm with Rogers.
I will try the C720W_WM 6.0 FINAL_Update_ and see if that fixes my issue.
OK, this is getting ridiculous...
So, I just upgraded to the russian ROM. Immediately after (before I even synced) I installed PHM Registry editor and tried to do the reg hack mentioned here... It was already set to that value.
I then tried installing bbconnect_wm6_pro_4.0.0.90 No luck, still uncertified system software.
So I tried SurrealNetworksAppUnlock, still the same message.
So I tried HTC_ApplicationUnlock, still the same message.
So I tried SDA_ApplicationUnlock, still the same message.
The only thing that I can figure out is that the Rogers S621, must be different somehow than the S620.
Has anyone using a S621 been able to app unlock on WM6?
Or does anyone know of anything else I can try?

Lets have a little more info please:
What precisely do you do to install a cab file?
Do you copy it to your device and click on it in file explorer?
What error message are you getting?
Does this happen with all kinds of different cab files or some specific ones?
If it is certain cabs tell us where you got it from and what it is for.
Also if you purchased your Touch from a cell-co it may be application locked.
You should check the Touch forum and the WiKi for unlocking procedure.
P.S. This is not CID lock. That would be irrelevant to 3rd party software only to changing ROM.

umm i need help say i wanted to download a app, like a game or any random app for my htc fuze, how do i install it? I ive tried just draging the file and droping them in the program file but i just dont kno how to do it at all.

Put them on your memory card and run them from there

I get the fundamentals of Simunlock v/s AppUnlock etc.
It was SimUnlocked using Unlock code I had got from T-Mobile.
1. It already has the latest Official ROM version on it (i.e. I tried doing it with the latest T-Mobile) and it shows the version I have is the same.
Do I need to reflash it with the ROM that is aleady present on my DASH? Is it worth trying that?
2. Now the step called AppUnlock? Which tool should I use given that I would have the T-Mobile Carrier 6.1 ROM on it (either already or reflash with T-Mobile 6.1 AGAIN)
3. After AppUnlock should I go for the FLASHing guide? Which one would that be?
if you search hard u can find it
sda unlock then put that file in your phone open it
then reboot
then just install it should be all center buttons if your using rickys rom

a. follow EXACTLY what the guide says. download the files it tells you to (and provides links to). thats why i put PICTURES so you wont have to ask. get the app unlocker from the guide....no need to install anything on the phone..just plug it in via activesync and run the app unlock...it will look like the pictures...then reboot and continue the install
b. tmobile has no 6.1 rom.
