Please add a reply on this thread if you hear high frequency sound coming out of you device (just put your ear on next to the screen).
i had xda mini (i got that sound) ,now with asus p525 and i have the same sound.
i wanna track why and what is doing this high frequency sound and how to fix it.
PPC-DOC
Was there on Atom. Don't know if it is gone 'cos I don't have it anymore
No sound.
I use P525.

hi victoradjei and vivi
i want to know if u used any screen speed tweak or some kind of tweak for display on your devices!!!!!.
i cant get the sound to disappear but it i have a feeling that happened after after tweaking with tweak2k and easy tweak.
10X and hope to get more replys to trak it well.
I believe, this sound is comming from screen. You can try turn your screen off (with device still running - just as you do with your music player) and find our, if this is true in your case.
DiMCa
DiMCa i notice that is the screen ,but i cant fined the reason. when i got the asus p525 or the htc s100 it has no sound, after a while i got the sound.
but my question is : is it possible that speed up screen tweak has something to do with it???
10x DiMCa
HI VIVI
did you apply the Increase font cache tweak or did you Increase FileSystem cache ????
thanks
This is totally normal with all devices that use gas-discharge screen backlight lamp technology (ie QTek S100/S110, ASUS P525, ATOM and some others). Some people dont hear it (since its above some people maximum hearing frequency), also its very faint, you need totally silent room to actually discern it.
The sound is coming from high-voltage DC-DC converter, its impossible to make it totally silent.
Since its related to backlight lamp, it will be gone if you switch the backlight totally off (and sometimes on full brightness too if its related to intermediate modulation harmonics). No screen tweaks will help (because its backlight-related, not screen-related).
Devices that use LEDs for backlight have no this sound (these are all modern HTCs as far as I know), but their backlight is tad dimmer on maximum, sometimes has issues with visible non-uniformity of backlight, and its more expensive technology too.

Yes , I use SK Tools.
I don't hear any sounds or my ears are too bad.
This have nothing to be with ears being "bad". Maximum hearing frequency is a genetic trait, also it tends to be reduced with age.
The backlight sound issue was officially confirmed by ASUS tech support, why is happen and that is totally normal and not considered a defect.
They also had troubles to confirm it initially, but finally did it in a quiet test room - every P525 device has it same. Maybe few have it too loud though, I dont sure about that.
Hmm..
Strange...
I test it together with my daughter ,15 years old.She also told me that no sound heard even with 100% brightness.
On P525 you dont hear it on 100% brightness, since secondary modulation is disabled at 100%, and on P525 its harmonics-related.
Its heard on intermediate brightness only. Built-in mike picks it too - its quite discernable if you compare two silent sound clips, recorded with, say backlight off and other with backlight at 30% and high recording volume.
And, as I said, maximum hearing frequency for human ear is a genetic trait. Since this is your daughter, figures
Thanks Ingvarr for clear details.
I finally heard it,but with very silent sound.
I have to put my ear tight with the screen.
No significant in daily use since I never put my ear on the screen as close as that.
BTW,Thanks again.
hi hi
Ingvarr its screen related and (cache or cpu related),i have been since 3 days extremely testing both xda mini and asus p525 to fined out the reason or what is doing that sound.
and what i got till now:
1. my ears are very sensetive :-(
2.i turn off back light and the sound still the same (not backlight issue)
3.i turn off screen and the sound will disappear (screen issue)
4. the sound change to other frequency, when i load something or use pocket sand or charge the pdas
5. i try to decrease system cache and font cache (i didnt c or hear any difference).
thanks all for your opinion and help.
still investigating for the reason and how to solve it.
PPC-DOC
Well, then its something other in your case.
Contact tech support about it, you wont be able to solve it on your own, and most likely will require unit replacement, since its hardware issue.
But be aware that even if you eliminate "processor-related" sound, the backlight sound will stay here no matter what you do, and you with your sensitive ears will still be able to distinctly hear it.

OK this happened the other day while out driving... at first i didn't notice... i was using my P3300 GPS driving far from home. (tossed tomtom which was useless for china and installed mapking)... anyway i was driving along merrily some 500kms from home, when i noticed that the GPS failed to verbally warn of a speed camera some 300m ahead, that i had manually input on a previous trip in the same location the weekend before. i had been using the GPS all day given that i had driven the 500kkms since 3am, so i hadn't changed any settings or nothing on the HTC.. but just thought at the time it was odd, but continued on... (the phone was plugged into the cars recharger) when later i noticed that i had recieved a sms, but wasn't aware of it since there was no sound... hmmm. so i stopped the car, and checked the phones settings... all seemed in order... both the phone and handset were on audible/sound and set to the highest audio level... but decided to change to vibrate mode, just to force some change, then after shutting off the GPS i powered the HTC down. waited a minute or so then powered up the HTC again... went to the handset/phone settings which were on vibrate mode and changed them back to audio and high settings...
still no sound, ok so i did a soft reset, and still the problem prevailed. i have tried to change the ring tones to something different (just the standard ringtones that came bundled with the phone), with no difference. i've gone to complete silent mode and both powered down and soft reset but still the problem is there, just no sound through the loud speaker. when i get a call & turn on the loudspeaker nothing... can't hear a damn thing. i've tried every possible combination... i have used SKtools & checked the registry just in case something weird had taken place, but the registry seems in order...
i checked mapking and made sure the audio option was selected for audible speed camera warnings -just in case, and it was fine...
if i plug in the ear piece no problem, can hear fine. if i use my bluetooth ear piece also no problem. the ringtones are standard, so nothing new there... also the other observation i have noted is that when i go to alter the default/standard backgrounds via the today page from "windows default" to either the standard "guava bubbles" or "HTC_default", the background remains as the standard blue of "windows default"
i'm looking at probably most likely having to do a hard reset, but if i can avoid doing so that would be great, as i want to keep all my contacts, my sms's and more importantly i have a shiet load of software/apps installed, plus some custom registry hacks, so that i'm able to view/read chinese on the WM5 English OS. none of which i'm looking forward to having to reinstall should the hard reset be my only option...
the phone hasn't missed a beat... its 4 months old, i haven't upgraded the ROM, nor gone for the WM6 upgrade due to the fact that i have so much software on-board that isn't compatible with WM6 yet. my view is... why fix something that aint broke???
anyone else had this issue with the loud speaker just kind of stopping...?
as i say it had been working fine and was in use for hours and hours that day when all of sudden ithere was no audio sound from the loud speaker. but nothing had changed...
any ideas???
additional...
...just to clarify one point concerning the wallpaper... that problem with the wallpaper/background has happened since the problem developed with no sound on the loud speaker, so that makes me think it might be a registry issue/conflict and not a hardware issue... however when i choose a different wallpaper like a photo etc, it displays. the problem seems to be with the 3 standard wallpaper/backrounds
I use the GPS alot with volume at max and my speaker died after 3 months. I sent it in for repair under warranty after an unsuccessful hard reset.
same thing happened with my mda 2 - speaker is blown most likely - di dyou live near london? if so go to southall it will cost you £20 and they fix it on the spot
Hey friends,
Hi from Istanbul to everyone. I have a rediculus issue with my HTC Desire GSM.
Incall volume is too low. I mean, I'm adjusting to high level and close the settings. Then I'm making a test call. It's again low. Then I'm opening the settings and again seeing that it got low level by itself.
Why it's always getting to low level by itself. I can't hear my calls.
pLS HELP ME
I believe some ROMs (maybe all, not sure) automatically lower the volume of the ringtone when the phone detects that it was moved.
Maybe the accelerometers get triggered to soon on your phone? Try calling your phone, but make sure it's laying still on the table or something...
Grtz
Thank you very much friend... but I am still having this issue
I am having this issue with the custom ROM 'InsertCoin CM7'.
I can barely hear anyone I speak to on the phone and this was not an issue with the stock ROM I had before.
If there was a way to set the in-call volume, that would be incredibly helpful.
Hi,
Quick question about the way this device records sound. Its by far the best phone ive ever used to record sound, however i keep running into a problem with volume levels. It never stays constant and fluctuates depending on whether the sound is loud or quiet.
Now that wont make sense at first so heres a link to a video i shot in the studio with some friends.
https://www.dropbox.com/s/zjcbpfrutvvgher/lemon eyes - 12-06-12.mp4
Note at around 2:20 in the volume changes quite dramatically. I assure you, in real life the volume of the sound was constant throughout the song, the only change was that both guitars had stopped playing, thus decreasing the decibel level slightly (the guitar sounds at that point were from the effects pedals), which surely wouldve made it quieter if anything
I dont believe this a manufacturing defect as ive had it on the past 4 HOX's i owned, but perhaps more to do the way the sound is processed. It is the same result recording in mono/stereo/720/1080 etc.
EDIT Just remembered, i had to turn my speakers up all the way to hear that properly so the recording level is far too quiet as it is. I can barely hear it through the phones speaker.
Yeah got same problem,
I did turn the stereo off in video options which did improve it. Give it a go and turn the Stereo feature off.
The sound was not dropping as much,
I tested this out at a footy match.

Thats a temporary fix i suppose, it did improve it though it didnt fix it for me.
Does anybody know if this is something that is likely to be resolved by a software update? Or can anybody recommend any apps to record this type of thing with if it is a software issue.
Premise: I know I just opened another topic (but this is a completely different question) and that there are several articles (and potential "fixes") around on XDA and elsewhere, but I see people having the following issues and others not (especially in reviews)
Hi everyone,
I have a simple question: is Mi Max Prime suffering from low sound volume (i.e. below the average)? if yes, is that probleme so severe that - for example - you may not hear the alarm clock or a phone call in speaker mode?
I know there are a couple of fixes around but I also saw many people not solving the issue with those.
Thank you in advance

For me is ok, not problem at all. Not best, not the more strong, but good.

Thanks for your answer.
Would you say the sound is possible to hear from some distance? (like a few meters or another floor)

I'd say, testing any alarm (default one should work) and a pop song music (at your choice).
Here too is night. Feel free to do it when you have a moment
I'm a good guy to ask. Quite deaf, use my phone for an alarm clock. I can hear people when they "force" their voice in close proximity, otherwise break out the pen and paper if I don't have fresh hearing aid batteries.
Alarm clock (alarmy) scares me so bad I try to beat my rise time just to turn it off. Loud, oh hell yea, it's loud.
Talking on the phone I can just make out sounds, without my hearing aids. That's says good things about the phone, because normally I get nothing.
You can always root and edit the mixer_paths in system_ect. Done it many times on my Samsung phones, but as I say, no need (for me) on the Max.
Just got a Mi Max a few days ago, the ring volume I will call it just enough, The only issue is when I hear music with headphone and turn on the Mi Sound effect then the volume will drop a lot, I need to turn off the effect and re-plug the headphone to resume the volume.
The volume has gotten better since Miui 8 and it's good on my RR ROM. YouTube is hit or miss depending on the video you watch. A lot of videos are uploaded with low sound and some with louder sound. Everything else seems okay to me although nothing compares to the sheer loudness of the speakers on my Nexus 6P.
Hi everyone, to those who received their oneplus 5T, I got a question for you.
Have you all hear a strange noise after each vibrates? Basically, I've been hearing a strange and non-consistent "raindrop" sound after each vibrates.
When I turn on vibrate on tap and set the intensity to high, I can hear this sound after the vibration motor triggers.
Has anyone else experience such issues?
Here is the sound file I uploaded for better clarification:
https://soundcloud.com/xiang-pan-1/strange-oneplus-5t-vibration-sound
I hear that on mine as well.
I have a similar experience. However it's very quiet (I don't know how high you numbed up the volume, but I don't have it that hard) and not all the time.
I think I know why:
https://forums.oneplus.net/threads/vibration-on-the-5t.695633/
It's the combination of the speaker and vibration. So no hardware fault. Or at least, I think it's not.
Way to reproduce this sound: Go to settings - sounds - incoming call vibration pattern
Play a little bit and you should hear the "Raindrop" sound.
After you connect some headphones it's totally gone. So hopefully it can be fixed with a software update.
Weird.. I don't hear it when I do that. I only hear it when the speaker is on. Like when unlocking your phone, the speaker will stay one for a couple of seconds (very quite noise, is normal). When you use your home bottom fast a couple of times after unlock you hear the raindrop. When the speaker totally turns off after a couple of seconds you don't hear it anymore.
I think it's due to the vibration resonating with the speaker when on (try it for yourself). This also explains why you don't hear it when using headphones.
The sound is so minimal many users don't realize it I think. It's not a hardware fault I'm guessing, more a disign thing.
I'm having this problem too.. only after the speaker is activated.
Everyone who notice it, please also let know on the OnePlus forum here, also for more information about it (It's probably design related):
