Repeated notifications about new topics - About xda-developers.com

I receive up to 5 notifications when a new topic is added to a thread I've subscribed to. I tried to unsubscribe and subscribe again to those threads. It helps for some days, when I start receiving again more and more notification mails.
Am I the only one experiencing such a problem? Is there a permanent solution, apart from unsubscribing at all?

No. You're not alone. I, too, get 3 - 5 notifications for the same reply on threads I'm subscribed to. It's just started in the past week or so.

There's a fix for that floating around the forums here, use the search function to look for "FixUnreadCount"
Thought that was for text messages only? This also does not show any messages to be there. I read that the fix mentioned was to erase a bogus 1 count.

It actually works for text and e-mail...but I misunderstood your post, I thought you were saying it's telling you that you have a new message when you don't. I'm not sure what you meant by "it started alerting with no new messages"
Just to clarify, It gives an alert every time it checks mail with or without a new message in the inbox. I do appreciate your response to this.
I will try the fix and let you know
did not work

[Q] Messaging problems

I had created groups within my Google contacts to better organize them. One group I had was "Co-Workers". I later decided to eliminate that group.
I then started noticing that every time I reply to a text from one of the people that was originally in the Co-Workers group, it would send it to EVERYONE that was in the group - about 15 people. However, if I start a new message to that person instead of just replying it only goes to him and no one else.
Is there something else that needs to be cleared such as a cache I'm not aware of? Again, the group was eliminated from within Google. I originally had Handcent and thinking that that may be the problem, I eliminated it and am just using the stock messaging. This is very annoying because I start receiving messages from all of these other people wanting to know what I'm talking about. PLEASE HELP!

[Q] Thread subscription notifications

EDIT: RESOLVED.
Hello,
For some inexplicable reason, I quit getting email notifications of threads I'm currently subscribed to. I double-checked my forum setting and even made a filter to make sure the emails aren't going to spam, but to no avail.
Any ideas?
EDIT: I'm also not getting PM emails either.
Sounds like an email issue at your end, as my pm notifications seem fine.
Could your provider be filtering them?

I suppose it's possible, but I've not had that issue before. But it's Craptastic Verizon DSL, so I definitely wouldn't put it past them. I'll check into it.
Thanks for the response.
EDIT: I just checked my previous e-mails and all my notifications suddenly stopped after November 10th at 11:08am EST. Weird.
EDIT AGAIN: Figured it out. For some reason Google locked the email address I was using (one I have forwarded to my main account)???? I've had that email for 6,443,522 years, so i'm not sure why. But I've sent a note to get it unlocked. Sorry for wasting anyone's time.

Need help!! Receiving repeated texts

Hello. I'm need of help. My samsung s6 keeps receiving and seems to sending texts to and from certain contacts over and over again. Sometimes for a few hours but as long as a full day sometimes. I dont know what is happening. I was able to block texting to those contacts and it seemed to stop. Texts with these contacts was typically in a group text (mms) and would happen daily. I noticed that when we would group text sometimes some of the messages would stay pending "download" and even after several attempts to dowload it the message would just stay pending so i would just ignore it. But later in the day and/or very late that night i would start receiving all these messages which seem to be the same ones over and over again. Much more people were letting me know that they were receiving texts messages from me. Its gotten to the point where at times i just shut down my phone overnight and pray that it clears up by morning. It had been. Any help you can point me to would be greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance.
Are they texts that you have composed or has your account been hacked?

thank you for reaching out so quickly. They are texts that i have composed. At least those i can see. Its like they pop back up as a group text somehow and the messages keep coming even if i delete the group text.

No problem. I did some research via Google and found that a fair number of people have reported the same problem (across all networks, Verizon and T-Mobile as well as Sprint) with the following results:
1) The issue seems to be tower related, so the first thing that you should do is report it to Sprint. They'll tell you that you are crazy, can't happen...stick with the report and hope that someone takes it seriously.
You can point to: https://support.t-mobile.com/thread/86838?tstart=0 and http://forums.androidcentral.com/samsung-galaxy-s5/425621-duplicate-text-messages.html and https://community.sprint.com/baw/message/558872
2) To try to fix it yourself, update PRL and Profile. If that doesn't solve it, switch to a 3rd party texting app.
If I did nothing else, hopefully I assured you that you are sane and your phone isn't haunted. Best of luck.
Thank you so much for your help. I seriously thought I was going insane. Actually thought all this was "Normal". I'm not very android savvy so can you tell me what PRL is? Sorry haven't read Cell Phones for Dummies yet. I appreciate the links. I will definitely follow up. Someone told me that I may have to do a "Factory Reset"?

if it's a group message you're included in, I believe you need to have the other contacts in the group remove you from it.

Hello elesbb.
Since I recently just found out a few days ago that all this was happening, I spoke to the contacts on the group text and they confirmed that they were receiving most if not all of these repeated group texts. So we decided to stop the group text, and I put a text block on their numbers and the repeat texts have stopped. But I'm afraid if I take off the text block Im gonna have the same problem. What I did typically see that I had many repeated copies of the texts that were either attempting or failed to download. I would get this sometimes all evening and late into the night/morning. I really dont' know what to do. I'm in the process of contacting sprint today to see if its a system or network issue.

Links to threads in emailed notifications are not clickable - LG G7

Just got the phone a few days ago, so I'm in the process of trying to learn it's subtleties...
I've posted a few things on this particular forum, and I've received "instant email notification" of replies. The issue is that the email tells me where the response is located, but it's just in regular text, and not a blue hyperlink. Is there a setting that will turn these supposed links into real, clickable links?
