I can make the SMS stop waking the phone via advanced config that is stock on my current ROM.
I want to keep my phone from coming out of sleep mode when I get a reminder. When it is in my pocket, I do not want it to wake up untill I take it out and push the button.
Thank you,
Jeff
Ditto. Me too.
anyone found a solution ?
I'm a bit confused about what's being asked... it sounds like you're saying you don't want a reminded to remind you... you just want it to tell you that you missed it when you check your phone two hours after your appointment. Would you also, perhaps, like an alarm clock that doesn't make any noise when the alarm goes off?
it should not wake the device, as in "turn on the display, and react to touch" , so it goes bananas in the pocket.
It should play a sound, and/or vibrate and/or flash light - as configured in notifications.
- just don't activate the display...
in other words; same as with new SMS or Email notification..
Me too.
I have the same issue. I have my phone synched with my work computer (outlook). I would like the reminders to appear on the computer only.
Right, I've owned my Desire for about 2 weeks now, and I have to say it has to be about the most complete, reliable and considering its newness bug free mobile phone available today, and I've recently owned phones such as the iPhone, HTC touch pro 2, HTC hd2, Nokia N900, HTC hero, among a few others. Although, I have to say there is one thing that really annoys me about the desire, and I was wondering if I was on my own with this. I have an alarm that goes off each day to remind me to take a tablet, and usually the phone is in my pocket when the alarm goes off. The issue is its nigh on impossible to get the phone out of your pocket to dismiss the alarm without accidentally snoozing it. I've even bought a case to put it in hoping that would cure it. (incidentally the case is a slide off job but fits perfectly, and is available from Vodafone shops at £6) So now I can get it out of my pocket ok bit it snoozes now when I try to get it out of the case.
Now I always thought that you needed a human finger or equivalent with capacative properties to activate the screen but obviously not. This seriously needs to be addressed I think.
I also hate this alarm thingy ...
There is a setting to change the behavior of "side button" from snooze to dismiss ...
But, that is what "side button" ???
I set to dismiss ... and I tried to use the hardware button, but it does not dismiss the alarm!
I think there are much more alternative alarm-apps in de android market wich can be set to not use snooze at all or just snooze when you push a hardware button.
completely agree. This annoys me so much. Also, as Gogol mentioned, the side button option seems to do nothing.
If anyone can recommend a good alternative alarm, I'd be keen to hear from you.
I used Alarming! on my G1 and found it to be the most reliable alarm.
To be honest on my Desire I am just using the built in alarm as I only use it to wake up in the morning and don't have any issues as the phone is on the table by my bed.
Anyone using TouchLockPro or PocketShield?
What are your impressions, pros/cons?
Thanks
Touch lock pro is really good but i removed it because some major features weren't working, maybe its just the ROM i used. But its great!
I was using s2u2, but kept having issues, probably has more to do that I don't use a stock rom, versus the program, but I switched to pocket shield and have no issues with it. I don't use all the features, just mainly the screen lock.

hmm good to know...I was about to ask about S2U2 too...it looks great...but I was reading the threads on it and it seams like issue after issue that people are talking about...maybe just the users/roms/or devices...idk
I downloaded the trial version of Pocket Shield...which you can use for 10 days before having to buy it.
Noticed some issues...probably things that just I would notice ...
(1) It enables the ability to select Repeat...under settings>Sounds&Notifications>Notifications>Reminders [I thought this was great...since this feature disappeared after WM 2003]
(2) in the same area...under Voicemail, Missed Call, and Text Messages you can now enable "flash light"...although these options are no available for New MMS...or ...New E-mail...or Reminders
(3) When Reminders go off...the light flashes anyways...until you dismiss or snooze... [I thought this was annoying cause I usually associate LEDS with missed e-mail, text, voicemail, not reminders...]
(4) You have some boost alarm options....where you can choose snooze options....this is basically an alarm to tell you have unchecked e-mail, text, voicemail, reminders etc... BUT the SNOOZE options don't actually work...this seams to never stop...just keeps going and going...even after the reminders and all missed calls are answered :x Edit:OK, so apparently...when this alarm goes off on the lock screen...you click on the item on the lock screen, then slide the screen...where the snooze options are revealed! yaay! ...but no dismiss button :X Ok, figured this out. For Boost alarm options you have a time setting for when you want it to work, plus you can check what you want it to work for, mine kept going off because I had it checked to go off as long as there was something on "today & tomorrow's Agenda" haha oops
(5) After a call...the screen locks...even if this feature is turned off on pocketshield...
(6) strange thing...i think is a feature of pocket shield...that we can't control...the phone screen turns off when you hold the phone up to your ear...even if the feature..."protect screen during call" is off....sortof like the iphone proximity sensor...not sure if our phone already did this...but I don't remember it doing this...before....
...if anyone knows that this is a normal feature...and how to turn it off...that would be great...
(7) For some dumb reason...the TouchFlo3D Slide to Unlock Screen is gone again....and it has defaulted back to the old WM Unlock...if I hold End key down....yaay! (sarcasm) ...this happened strangly the other day too...without this program...and I had to hard reset to get it back :x
(8) No clue why...but after a call...the phone decided to vibrate without stopping...until I pulled out the battery....when i turned it back on ...it went back to vibrating...but stopped after it finished booting...no clue why this happened...but it only took place once...wasn't a reoccurring problem
maybe this is all happening because it isn't the full version...idk...I thought it would be full...just minus access to the skins and it would just disable in 10 days...but idk...
This is all on my stock Rom too....which is nuts
Another annoyance...when you hit the power button...it turns of any media player you had running...so you can't turn the screen of and play music at the same time...unless plugged into external power.
I found that I can turn the screen off...and keep the media player running if I push the PocketSheild Lock button...this gives you the option to turn the screen off...or go to the lock screen...which will turn the screen off too and keep the media player running.
Major annoyance...should just be able to hit the power button and have the screen turn off and lock...with the media player still playing...what if I want to save battery by turning my screen off while listening to music...or put the phone in my pocket with headphones...

Yeah, I don't fault S2U2, it's a good program. I hear from a lot of people that use it and like it, but I was having issues. It's funny to show iPhone drones the S2U2 lock screen with the battery showing (the default iPhone screen?), and they say "hey, when did you get an iPhone" swipe it unlocked, and they say you can't have iphone on a windows phone LOL....priceless.

at least people don't mistake your phone with a nokia,
it's driving me crazy
I used TouchLockPro for a long while. Generally, I like it. I locks well and the unlock with light feature is great.
Recently, the unlock with light feature was added to PhoneAlarm. I use and like PhoneAlarm, so I just updated and now have a single program with my alarm profiles and screeen locking plus a slide to unlock. Handy.
Hi guys,
If you really need this option, like I do, please vote here.
What? Why?
I disagree.
Not really sure why you'd need that. Just put it in airplane mode if you're concerned about draining the battery.

Because some people use their phones as alarm clock every morning and we don't use our phones while we are asleep. So why should phone be on all night?

Why? You don't want more features in your WP? If WP wants to be big player he should offer more than big 2.

I can do that, but that's just a workaround for something that should be simple as button press. Plus, it still drains ~5% or more. Main reason is that we don't use our phones at night while we are asleep and most of us probably don't want to be disturbed by phone calls, messages or emails at night. So why not just turn off the phone with simple button press and still have alarm clock on. It's not that battery last very long on WP devices.

Yes, I miss this feature from my Nokia. Blackberry also has this feature.
Are there even alarm apps that work in the background yet? The one I use, GAlarm, doesn't -.-
Alarm, when the phone is off, is just like air condition when car engine is off. You can't use air condition if you dont turn your engine on. Just live vit it, you don't have other choice. This is smart phone not Nokia 3310!

Blackberry is also smartphone and if they figure out how to do this I guess other guys could too.
I don't want my phone to be able to turn its self on. Plus if I turn it off that means I dont want the alarm going off. If people genuinely wanted this then they would vote for it, you don't need to convince us.
Well today i was late for work. Without a good reason my phone went off last night.
No alarm woke me up! Just because this feature is missing. It would come in handy if there was just an option to wake up the phone when alarm goes off.
I wonder if you're confusing "off" with "sleep"?
"Off" is just that: no power, no nothing. How can an alarm ring when there's no power to allow it to ring?
As for Blackberry doing this...again, are you sure the phone wasn't in a low-powered state, like "sleep"?

I think you know nothing about "Off". If when we turn off the phone, there is "no power, no nothing" like you said, why when we turn it on again, the clock is still correct? Even if you remove the battery for a while, the phone is still work, cause there is a backup battery (at least a large capacitor) in the phone, to keep some basic function running when the phone is off.
I agree with Klikerko, cause some users are used to turn off the phone while they are asleep, airplane mode or turn off, we should have the right to choose which one to use, like Symbian.
Symbian users are too familiar with how the alarm clock works.
The phone will start itself and stay in the clock mode, mean it will give you two option:
Snooze + Turn off the alarm ( for that day only) and then it will ask you either to turn on the phone or not.
Well... it is kinda annoying with you have to press twice to turn off the alarm and shut the phone off/on...
I really would rather to have my phone run by me all night long with the charger. It doesn't hurt. And Windows Phones will turn themselves on if you plug in the charger, no matter what... so it is kinda pointless to ask for that.
BTW, it is a nice feature to have, but it doesn't hurt me if MS doesn't add it.
Agreed... I cant see the need for an alarm when the phone is off... Unless it turned itself off, in which case you got more serious problems.
I want an alarm program to work in the background, AND be able to have its own volume settings... I don't like having to remember to switch on the alarm software, make sure its active, then adjust the volume ever time I want to go to bed... especially if its been a "good" night. The WP stock alarm software has too few options, and switches itself off after a predetermined set of time (~5 mins is it?)... What is the good of an alarm clock that turns itself off?

Then I stand corrected, as this isn't unlike a PC with its CMOS battery (otherwise PCs wouldn't be able to keep the current time without having an Internet connection to connect to an NTP server).
With off, like the battery removed, This would be a dumb request and I would not vote for it. How would an app work if there was no power to it ?
As for the built in alarm app, it's simple and I have NEVER missed a meeting because of it. I use it everytime I travel and dont even touch the in-room alarm clocks. No need to update this.
No need to change that
The alarm works fine as it is for me: I put my phone in silence mode every evening and leave is charging. It always woke me up when needed.
Given how much else needs to be done or enhanced on the Windows Phone platform, I don't think this request should be a priority.
Cheers,
Stephen
There are oddities with WP7, but not life-altering. Won't charge in 'off' mode. WiFi sync works only while charging. Alarm subsystem functions only while in sleep/awake mode.
For alarm clock -- airplane mode, plug into charger, sleep mode (via power button or just set it down on it's face).
In the morning, alarm goes off, hit dismiss, hold back button pulls up airplane mode, flick it off, and start button takes me back to homescreen, fully charged and ready to go. Unlike WM5/6 where the alarm subroutine was unreliable, WP7 is refreshingly stable and reliable for my needs.
Cheers
MOD EDIT I edited the title. Some of the words were not needed to convey your meaning @gregbradley
This has been up around before, i have searched and not found an answer.
Someone had the bright idea that "Do Not Disturb" puts the Alarm out of business. A Genius idea, since 95% of the world use "Do not disturb" when they sleep.
I am a very light sleeper. I am currently faced with the most annoying problem ever, and due to waking up 15times a night, i am getting beyond adjudicated due to lack of a good nights sleep. You guessed it, i wake up from the vibration!
The LG G3. Turn it all the way, and you get Virbate, Alarm still works.
Do not disturb, no vibrate, ahh nice, but now no Alarm.
I came from a G2, where i could pick Vibrate of full silent with only Alarm working. THIS IS THE F'ing feature thats missing, and i am fully aware that this is a know issue for most G3 users.
Who the heck came up with this stupid idea, and how can get to a point where my phone is dead silent but the ONLY sound that MUST work is from the Alarm?!
Is there a work around, is there an app i can use, anything, please help me get some SLEEP!
I agree that the only days I missed school is because of this Do not disturb feature I use when I'm busy and.... I miss my alarm!
But missing work is just not an option for me.
This is a situation of doomed if you and doomed if dont, and i dont want to be put in that position by my freaking phone!

If i could, i would. But you cant. when the phone is on vinrate only.
I found a way to work around this now, but its beyond stupid.
Honestly, its like a woman did this. No logic and damn complicated.

Settings --> Sound --> Notifications --> Do Not Disturb --> Schedule -- Set the times and days you do not want to be interrupted, set the end time to be a few minutes before your alarm is due to go off, remember you need to start it from the night before, so if you work Monday to Friday you need to choose Sunday to Thursday, assuming that you go to sleep before midnight that is.
You can now leave your phone on normal volume, do not need to to mute or set to vibrate only.
Use priority mode, I had the same issue as you until I figured out how to use priority mode and keep it completely silent.
sound - notifications - do not disturb - make sure calendar events are ticked...
after wards go to home screen, set to DND and press volume down once you will get "
Do not disturn
1. on Priority Off
Select priority and presto! eveything else but calendar events (alarms) will be silent.
