Missing Windows Folder In Active Synce
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
i have active synce 4.5b installed and on my old mda compact i used to be able to see the windows folder when using the pc to explore the pda (ie so i could delete shortcuts from my pda or add ring tones directly to the windows / rings folders etc).
i have bought an 02 orbit and have tried to browse to my windows folder exept i can not see it in the exploere window of active synce yet my brothers mda compact when synced to my pc shows the windows folder ok.
when i use resco explorer in the pda i can see the windows folder. so my question is, is the windows folder hidden and how can i get access to it from the pc?
it is a hidden file as far as the PC is concerned. You need to tell the pc to show hidden files.
in the explorer window
tools
folder options
view tab
show hidden files and folders

I've tried using the Desktop Installer, it loads MS Active Sync - looks good - but nothing appears in add/remove programs or on XDA
I tried a few others but don't know what to do with the CAB file
Has anyone with a zda2s made it work?
thanks
strange, use active sync to copy .cab file over into ur file explorer. then go to the file on ur device and tap it, a .cab for a pocket pc is the same kind of file as a .exe on a normal pc.

no one know how to do?
Sorry, but no problem on my Orbit.
I can see \Windows and copy files to and from there.
You need to have the "Hide Protected Operating System Files" option unticked in Windows
I am sure this question has been asked before. But no I couldnt find using the search option neither with google.
I recently upgraded from XP to W7. To accecc the windows folder on my TP2 in xp I just had to set folder option view to "View hidden files and folders". In w7 I do the same in Control panel>folder options>"show hidden files, folders and drives" but then I am still not able to see my Windows folder on my mobile. (i do see all hidden folders on my comp)
I already solved it by using total comander, but in the future it might be helpful to know how to access my windows folder on my telephone by using Windows 7!
ANyone who can help me out?
In that same menu, just uncheck "Hide protected operating system files (Recommended)". Problem solved.
Hi everyone,
sorry to bother you with such a beginner question but I'm trying to access /windows directory from my computer when my device is connected to it but I can't find it.
First, I thought we can't get to it and looked for an app to get the access but I don't find anything...
So, do you know a way to access /windows directory from your computer?
Thank you a lot!
A Windows setting on your PC is hiding certain folders/files, and that extends to your phone when viewing the phone from the PC.
On your PC, in Windows Explorer or similar screen where you can see files and folders, click on Organize>Folder Options>View. Exactly where this is and what it's called depends on which version of Windows you have. Then select "Show hidden files, folders, and drives" and unselect "Hide protected operating system folders".
