Screw Loose on XDAIIs - MDA III, XDA III, PDA2k, 9090 General

I live in the UK (Southampton area) and
I am trying to locate a source of some screws for my XDAIIs
I have lost one from the top left hand side on the cover.
The only supplier I have found is American and would only send them at 400 x the cost of the screws.
If anyone has any spare, I will collect if local!
TIA

hi
have you asked your local phone repair shop. my m2000 had a screw missing in the top right corner i took it to my local shop. they just put a new one in for free. they said that the top corner screws fall out quite often and they use the same screw thats in the old nokia phone's. so if you havn't already tried them might be worth a go

dropped my MDA III - how to open it for repair?

Hi,
unfortunately I dropped my MDA III, now it has a few malfunctions:
- battery switch (to hold the battery in place) broken, a part of it remained inside the case
- touch screen often hangs, sometimes works after a few bumps to the case
How can I open the case to try repair action? I saw a few screws under the battery and two screws on outside upper left and right, nothing else. Don't know what happens if I remove these screws. Applying Murphy's law it will separate into thousands of parts after having a wrong screw removed)
Best Regards

thanks for help
thanks for those many replies And everone who helped me will get the recipe for free, since I found it out myself finally. But unfortunately the repair action didn't work, seems like the touchscreen has to be replaced.

Help with removing the case surrounding the screen

I am having probems with my touchscreen and want to pull the case off it so that I can check connections.
The service manual states that after having undone the screws along the bottom edge of the screen that you should use a screwdriver to push into the hole in the bottom left hand edge of the screen case to release the catch to separate the two halves, but pushing the screwdriver in there doesn't seem to release anything.
Has anyone here managed to dismantle the screen and have any tips on how to do it?
 youv'e probaly sorted by now
anyhow ur need to obtain a plastic ended screwdriver (unless you fancy damaging case) insert at join wilst using a fine screwdriver, gently push in hole lever outwards while prising and i'tl 'pop' out do same at other end and use plastic srewdriver to pop open along join all around until it pops of.
had to change screen on mine took about 25mins total, advise u use anti static wrist band (lot of sensitive stuff near screen).
Where did you get your screen from? and how much?
 i brought unit off ebay (internally damaged) for the screen (lucky). theres a taiwanese company, selling them, but not seen on ebay for a while, if you look through archives theres also a usa company, but only repair.
Hi,
Just had an MDA Pro screen replaced by these chaps in Wimbledon:
http://www.xdarepairs.co.uk
Cost quoted was about £110 +VAT + Postage fitted, or £90 +VAT for the part on its own. All in, the screen, including fitting, was not much more than the screen on its own from ebay.
Posted to them on Tuesday at 16:45 and received back on Thursday at 08:45. Working beautifully again.
May be worth a try.

Looking for a spare screw (no pun!)

Does anyone have a scrapped PDA2k from which they can spare one of the small torx bit screws located on the external case, just to the left of the contacts button (or the right of the calendat button)? I am happy to pay the shipping costs. Thanks!

link doesnt work for me.
I need some screws for the blue angel, as both of mine either side of the screen fell out.
Found both from an old nokia me thinks...
Try a backstreet phone shop with a load of screws lying about, but not too long don't want to damage owt!!

Stolen!

my sx66 was stolen a little over a year ago. was just wondering if it made its way to someone here! i dont want it back or anything. just think it would be funny.
it has a modified speaker, one of the screws at the top on the side is messed up and i scraped a big "FU" into the back plate (behind the battery but on the inside where the mobo sits).

Looking for Motherboard QTek 9000!?

Hello all Universal Users, I am Loooking for a Mother board for My Qtek 9000, maybe some one can help me to find one?
Are tey all the same Qtek->I-mate->Dopod...
Many Thanks,
Jean-marc.
All boards are the same, (only different branding, and of course G3/G4 difference)
need parts too !!!
Hello, If you can find a dead uni (with MB ok) we can buy it together , i need a part (little board next to the screen) for my second uni.If you find one, pm me (sorry for english, i'm french).
Good luck for your searches ...
My Mother-in-Law got my Exec wet... arrrgh!!!
so I have a water damaged one (not wet enough to blow the warning stickers though). The damage is only to the screen the M-board is fine & in fact the phone is fully functional unlocked and not subject to an insurance claim (more fool me for not insuring it!). The phone is less than a year old, the case has the usual pocket wear and a couple of tiny dents on the top most centre panel and one of the two little rubber bits by the led’s is missing
The damage is the screen has gone smokey and darkened and does not turn of the light fully as a result the battery life is shortened.
I needed total reliability for business trips to the Far East so I have had to move to another phone for a bit.
I had the whole thing apart to see if I could track the damage and repair it and as far as I can see it is just confined to the ribbons attached to the screen and digitizer. I am happy to break it for spares if you are interested.
Any parts (no guarantee offered) make me an offer – I even have the original box & manuals.
Wouldn't trust the screen or main ribbon - these are now available on ebay.
Happy to advise on dismantling,
Cheers,
Newton
