Thank you for reading my post.
I have an MDA Compact 3. I also have tomtom navigator 5 software. No matter how I try I cannot get tomtom to communicate with the internal gps unit. I would be grateful if someone would tell me how to achieve this goal or point me in the direction of a tutorial.
There are already threads discussing this. Please do a search - and remember, this is the first and foremost rule in forums.

Hi,
I have a problem with a Bluetooth GPS receiver (COPILOT) and pairing it with the XDA II.Why does it always asks me for a device PIN.I haven't got one.Why do I need one and why can I not do it without a DEvcie PIN ?
I am ROM 1.6 and Radio 1.1
Help would very much appreciated.
Heiko
To prevent people from making unauthorized use of the unit! If you haven't got the pin then there's probably something fishy about the way you got it ........
Do you have a manual? it should be in there.
Nothing fishy about it.Bought it from expansys.Does every device need a PIN then.Got Software activation code and all the boxes and manual.
Are not explaining pairing in the manual at all.Should just work according to the Manual.
Heiko
0183
All you needed to do was search the forum for Copilot.
I searched for Bluetooth and GPS,but Copilot did not come to mind.
I think I am a bit fed up in having so many problems.
EXPANSYS seem to have sent me an incomplete package.Only half the Vent mount kit and no instruction booklet for GPS.
Thanks very much. You made my day!
I am very grateful to you for that info.
Hope it will sort my problem.
Heiko
I am step furher .I got the two paired now.
It seems that I have no proper manual for the GPS receiver would anybody know which Com Port I need to set it to and what speed ?I get a green tick for GPS Comp Port Opened and when I choose Setup GPS,
Automatic seems not to detect.I get error message "Automatic GPS connection failed.Verify that your receiver is connected.".
Any ideas?
Thanks Heiko
Try com 5, assuming you answered yes to the question about serial device when bonding the gps.
I think for future reference here is my painful configuration experience of COPILOT Version 5 with a Copilot Bluetooth GPS receiver and XDA II.
1.Check that the Quickstart Package is complete:
-GPS receiver User Guide,Ventmount Kit with attachment for PDA,Bluetooth PIN code for GPS receiver.
- User/Installation Guide
- CDs and 128Mbyte SD card
2.Install the Software from the SD Card according to the User Guide
3.Check the Version number and note it down.Go to the Technical Support section of the Copilot Website and see whether there are any Patches available.
3.Deinstall the software from your device and install the patched software which you need to copy onto your SD card.
4.Install the software.
3.Check that you have bonded your Bluetooth GPS receiver with the XDA II and enable Comport 4Inbound and 5 Outbound.(ROM Version 1.60)
5.Use Code 0183 as the Bluetooth device PIN code
6.Go into Copilot software and everything should work as it did for me if you haven't lost the will to live by this time !
7.read this first : Buy a SatNav system with your car and haggle with the salesman like mad (its quicker).
Hope this helps everyone else as people helped me here.
Thanks
Heiko
Thank you, Thank you, Thank you for the code
I was just about to give up, but the 0183 code worked like a charm. I have the new PPC6700 with WM5 and all of a sudden it wants the code. Previous versions never needed it. You just saved me $150.
Thanks again
Hi all,
hope to find somebody able to help me. I have a Qtek 9090 purchased with the BT version 1.0.0. I'm using WM 03 SE. I would like to know if I can upgrade it the BT version and if yes how? Sometimes I really find it hard to configure BT devices (i.e. TOMTOM version 5.0).
Cheers
Start on the below page:
http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=HTC_Blueangel
Then, look here where it says "How to upgrade to the latest Bluetooth Stack version (currently 1.0.0.3900)"
http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=BA_Bluetooth_1.0.0.3900_Upgrade
Hope this helps..?
Thanks for the quick reply. I have checked on my device and the version of the BT is 1.0.0.39. Therefore does not need upgrade. Now my problem is to configure Tom Tom 5.0 with my GPS device which is BT and is produced by Hamlet. Every time I receive a message from Tom Tom saying the it is an invalid GPS signal and then I can read that the GPS signal was lost as soon as i finish to configure the device. Hope to find a solution

STOP posting the same things in multiple forums, you already posted this in the Alpine forum (which was the wrong place anyway, you should address this to the Universal forum if anywhere if you want device-specific help!). Just spamming the entire forum will 1) make people hate you and 2) get you nowhere fast.
Hi Guys,
I've done some searching of this forum, and can't find anything relating to Tom Tom Go 300's here - so I figure it's safe to post this
I've upgraded to WM6, and everything works wonderfully, but for one thing...
I've a TomTomGo 300 Portable SatNav device, and it doesn't seem to want to work with WM6 - any reasons why? Anything I do to fix it?
When I try and pair the phone and the TTG, it finds the phone - but then comes up with something about there being no required services on the phone. Is this because we don't have DUN on WM6?
Any help/suggestions/abuse appreciated!
Ta!
Matt

hope you get it running soon as you atleast need a TT to find your way '-)
Bah! I thought I'd seen it somewhere but couldn't for the life of me find it.
Will follow that thread then!
Thanks!
Matt
Which TomTom are you using?
Instead of starting a new thread, I'll keep using this regarding navigation options.
I have a Cingular 8525 with the VP3G LSVW rom. Since I've read other threads that the internal GPS chip in the TyTN is hopelessly disabled, I'm wondering what type of TomTom software + gps device is everyone else using? I'm thinking that there is something that can connect via BT or emu to my device that will provide the gps portion and then I can just install software.
Please post what you have and links to products would be even better!
First of all I want to thank all the members on different forums, who posted suggestions and files. I just read read and read for 3 days trying to make it work on my TYTN II. I finally did it and wanted to combine all the info in one post so lots of other members can benefit from it.
So here we go, please follow all the steps carefully and slowly….
1. Get “Garmi Mobile XT V4PPC” from mininova.
2. Remove any previous garmin installations completely from your ppc.
3. Download A. GarminMobileXTforPocketPcwithGPS10_4100wBeta.exe
B. GarminMobileXTforWindowsMobile_41040w.exe
4. From pc install A to ppc and DO NOT install or run on ppc when a window appears to do so.
5. From pc install B to ppc and install and run when window appears on ppc. When program runs , it will start looking for gps device. Cancel it, go to Settings then to About and write down your 10 digit Device ID.
6. Run GarmiMobile XT V4PPC key generator on pc and put your device id and generate SW key and Map Key ( Garmin city navigator nt 2008 ).
7. Open note pad. Copy and past both keys one by one and save them as SW.UNL and GMAPSUPP.UNL.
This is a critical point. In your windows explorer uncheck HIDE FILE EXTENSIONS. NOW MAKE SURE THAT BOTH FILES DO NOT HAVE txt EXTENSION AT THE END. THEY HAVE TO BE UNL FILES.
8. Transfer these UNL files to your ppc in Garmin folder.
9. Now run Garmin from your ppc, it should be able to detect your GPS now. You do not have to be outside at this point.
Installing the Maps.
1. Download Garmin City Navigator North America NT 2008 from piratesbay. Install on your computer and run. It will ask for the unlock code, put GNG55-L8WSA-S7YET-9U246-GJFQT.
2. That should unlock the mapsource. Select your maps to be transferred, save it on desktop on pc.
3. Name newely made map file GMAPSUPP.IMG ( no txt extensions ).
4. Delete GMAPSUPP.UNL and GMAPBMAP.IMG from your ppc in Garmin directory and load new GMAPSUPP.IMG from your pc to ppc.
That’s it guys you should be able to use the maps now.
Thanks once again to all the kind souls out there who made it possible.
I cannot seem to find the file from mininova. Can someone contact me so that I can get it and host it for others?
Was able to find all files and trying to install now.
Good luck guys guys. File should be on mininova.....
IT WORKS! But I had to leave GMAPSUPP.UNL on my ppc or Garmin Mobile XT would say that it could not unlock the map. Thanks for the instructions Tararura!
BTW: Im using it on a hw6955.
Good job coolcut....
Can you post

Garmin Vs TomTom Vs iGuidance
How do you compare them especially on accuracy of routing and maps? Had used a friend's iGuidance 4 on X51v with WM6 briefly, I like its easy to use and the Text to Speech function but routing accuracy was poor in a lot of places since version 1.1. I have used TT6 for over a year now, generally routing is acceptable though its not optimal routing all the time. Between the 2, I opted for routing accuracy and map accuracy.
I have never used Garmin before, so how is its routing and map status. How old or how update is Garmin map. I need more information before I shell out $140 for the Garmin map.
HI there
I have TT and Garmin installed right now on TYTN II . I also used Mio/iGo on TYTN II. The best of all is Garmin. Its accuracy is the best. Graphics are not that great like TT. Garmin tells you if the destination is on Left or Right when you are close to reaching it. TT is not that accurate, once it told me that my address was still 2 blocks away when I already had reached it.
Another cool thing in Garmin is that once you set the addresses in Garmin for your Contacts. You can open contacts in your phone and then you have an option to route to it through Garmin.
Menus are simple in Garmin than TT. and Garmin has more POI like I could not find Tim Hortons in TT but Garmin was showing all of them.
Personally I like Garmin very much for its accuracy
I like TT6 because of better routing accuracy not destination accuracy as it does not matter too much for me if I am a house or 2 away. I bought GPS navigation softwares starting from 2001, none was satisfactory and I found TT6 had slightly better routing (sometimes I got wrong routing from TT6 as well but comparatively less than other software I owned). I settle for TT6 as a compromise, it lacks of storage capacity for Favorites.
It seems that you are quite happy with Garmin. I will problly try Garmin.
Yes try it , you will like it better.
what is the coverage for europe (countries, %)
Don't know but there are some European maps you can download for it.
i am using artemis, and i have copied sw.unl to garmin folder,.
when the device try to search, he try to search on my com port (com 4) but nothing happend, the satellite was not found (keep searching),.
any ideas???
thanks b4
