Ivan 3.5 or Helmi 3.5? - JASJAR, XDA Exec, MDA Pro Software Upgrading

Are they essentially the same? Do they both still have the memory leak problem? I am using Ivan's 3.3 right now but I don't know if it is worth the upgrade.

well Ivan makes the Vanilla versions
wich is quite useful for me
Helmi has a whole lotts useful extras
which i normally counter with other applications
Helmi's rom also has a lot of crossbow looking icons
Ivans has the default M$ icons...
again this takes up lesser memory
the choice is yours

Yeah. Helmi's rom seems to have the memory leak problem.
I think all the AKU3.5 roms are almost the same on this question. I have to reset my o2 exec after a period of time.

what kind of memory leak problem does 3.5 have? can you explain or link me to it ?

I have been using Helmi's AKU3.5 v1.3 without memory leak problems.

I have been using Helmi's 3.5 rom for a while now (with the standardize2 patch) and memory seems to be running normal with no leak observed.

So... Ready to upgrade ROM... BUT which one?

Hi guys,
Im ready to upgrade my ROM but looking and reading through the 3 different AKU 3.2 ROM threads I am even more confused than before...
Has anyone tried all three roms?
What are the advantages/disadvantages of each one?
Which has more programs?
Which is faster?
Which is more stable?
Just reading through the 10+ pages on each thread basically shows they all are "good" but still might have some bugs/problems. Is this really the case?
Any help and /or comments about the roms would be very helpful.
Cheers
Inquiry minds want to know
Good question.
Can the developers post the ROM's in different categories: Stable, Unstable, Incomplete, Testing only, etc.?
Anyone???.......
They are all pretty much the same, just based on different manufacturers ROMs.
Ivans is O2, JW's is T-Mobile I think and I haven't looked at Indras to be honest.
The only one I have used is Ivans. They all have slight glitches but that's all they are really. Nothing really that puts me off wanting to use them. In fact, from using these ROMs and speaking with Ivan I have learnt so much more about how to modify the Uni to how I want it too.
All in all there's nothing really in them, you've read the forums, just pick the one that is likely to have the fewest bugs you can live with if that makes sense.
Is there an easy link for the ROMs, I heard Ivan has done a beta 15 but don't seem to be able to find it???

Review of the 3 AKU 3.2 ROMs available
1st: SPEED -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
All 3 AKU 3.2 ROMs namely: JWright's 1.90.96, Indra's 1.90.94 R2, and Ivan's 2.50.00 Beta 15 are all faster compared to official AKU 2 ROM releases by the different manufacturers.
As far as comparing all 3 AKU 3.2 ROMs with regards to speed, they are all the same in my opinion, unless someone had already benched marked each ROM. At first, I thought Indra's and Ivan's ROM were faster than JWright, but after going back to JWright's ROM, they are all the same as far as speed is concerned.
2nd: AESTHETIC VIEW --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Indra>Ivan>JWright... I like the new look of Indra's R2 ROM. Definitely nicer icons and splash screen than the official ones and the other 2 AKU 3.2 ROMs.
If you prefer the simple look and less applications installed or provided on the ROM, go for Ivan's ROM.
3rd: STABILITY ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Indra>JWright>Ivan ... This is how I rank them in my opinion. I never had MEMORY LEAKS with Indra's ROM, but with JWright and Ivan's ROM, after a soft reset and leaving it for 12 hours it won't respond any more because the memory leak was so severe that you can't run any more applications unless you performed a soft reset. I also noticed with JWight's ROM, there are no memory leaks without anything installed, but after installing a few apps, that's when the leaks comes out. With Ivan's ROM, even after fresh from a hard reset with nothing installed, the memory leaks are there.
4th: MEMORY -----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
JWright>Indra>Ivan ... This is how I rank them. After upgrading here are the following memory available for us to use without anything installed:
JWright: 29.47 MB (with memory leaks)
Indra: 28. something MB
Ivan: 28. something MB (with memory leaks)
5th: APPLICATIONS PROVIDED -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Indra>JWright>Ivan ... This is how I rank them. Indra based his ROM from JWright, so basically all applications on JWright's ROM can be found on Indra's ROM with the addition of a Task Manager, WM5 New Menu, etc... Ivan's ROM is very plain, but that does not mean it is not as good as the other 2. You can simply extract the files OFF of Indra's ROM and just add them to either JWright or Ivan's.
6th: INCREASING THE PAGEPOOL -----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Indra>Ivan>JWright... This is how I rank them. To begin with their starting pagepool's were:
Indra: 4.8 MB
Ivan: 6.0 MB
JWright: 4.8 MB
After increasing the pagepool to 8.0 MB on all of them. There is a significant increase in speed with regards to Indra and Ivan's ROM. JWright's ROM on the otherhand had no significant increase in speed. I don't know why.
Hope this would help anyone to decide what they like. Good luck and thank you to JWright, Indra, and Ivan for the ROMs. I hope a new and better versions are on the way.
Features
Ok, how about this: Can we have a single page listing features side-by-side? Both the implemented ones and those which are under development? That way everyone can come up with suggestions, wish-lists, etc.
For example, the Bluetooth stack from Microsoft is quite limited; no PAN, Obex by arcane methods, etc. Does any of Ivan, Indra or JWright build use any other?
I have the official ROM from IMate. The memory leak is horrible. I have to soft-reset every 24 hours.
Not to mention annoying delays: I open the phone and it takes 10-20 seconds for the today to unfreeze and the phone interface to open.
Hi Christian,
Thank you very much for your review - that is exactly the type of review I was after - Based on what you say I think Indra's ROM sounds the best for me so far - I might just go back and read Indra's thread again to see if any of the bug's will effect me more than the others....
Cheers mate.
I have only used two, jwright and ivan's (Beta 12 I think).
i felt ivan's was more reliable, stable. In terms of memory and speed, I think they are equal.
They are the same core, its just some of the extra apps and tweaks. Personally, i would prefer more registry hacks and tweaks to have been done, and less apps being installed. These apps can be extracted and installed to suit each persons requirements, rather than being imposed.
So my vote out of 10 goes 8.5 to Ivan, and 8.0 to jwright.
Mind you, I dont really hardcore the device. I have a few aps installed, but dont use them. I could in principle get away with the basic device without apps, cause its firstly my diary and time manager, then it is my contacts manager, then my messaging device (love push email), then i use it as a phone. I dont use games, i dont use stereo blue tooth (simple one for phone), and I only use it for about 1-2 phone calls per day, so it really doesnt get as hammered as many of the devices on here.
HATE, WITH A PASSION V2.0 OR LIKE, SLOW, PATHETIC AND USELESS. SO CONGRATULATIONS AND DUE RESPECT TO BOTH OF THE DEVELOPERS AND THEIR HARD WORK AND COMMITMENT TO REVIVING A VERY EXPENSIVE DEVICE THE MANUFACTURERS GAVE UP ON.

I haven't tried Ivan's, but I quote u fully on Indra's and JWright
I have use almost all of ivans ROM's. I think the V13 was for me most stable one.
2 days Ago I flash the irda 5r2 ROM. compare my previos experience with Ivan's ROm's I think the Irda 5R2 is currently the best ROM.
SBP Plus
BTW, does anyone know why SBP Plus makes the Today (and the rest of the device) hang when restarting from standby if the Today plugin is enabled?
Does SBP+ work on the other ROMs?

Have you install spb in your SD CARD?
My feeling is by R2 the reading speed from the SD card slower then by other ROM's. One more think you can try is: un-able and able few times the SPB from the Today screen. it has help me.
Yes, on the SD
Yes. SBO like all other apps is installed on the SD card. With memory leakage being what it is, I don't install to main RAM. Even so, available RAM goes down to 2MB in about 48 hours after which I have to soft-reset.
Shall try re-installing into main memory
Yes, I would suggest to install it in to main memory. it has help me atleast
cheers.

So many WM6 ROM's but which one to try??

Hi All,
I'm quite new to ROM upgrades, but have done a couple.
I'm very keen though on putting WM6 on my Orange M5000, but not sure which you guys think would be best for me to try.
I've spent the last couple of days reading over and over the threads about:-
1. PDAVIET 2.00.07 PRO
2. i-mate JASJAR Crossbow Rom Update 2.01.06 WWE
3. New WM6 Rom of Helmi_c (V1.1)
But am now even more confused than I was before I started, I'm kind of leaning towards the i-mate JASJAR Crossbow Rom Update 2.01.06 WWE, but really dont know why.
Any help would be much appreciated
Those PDAViet ROM's are modified versions of Helmi's earlier ROM, but they've then been filled with third party apps that I don't want. I've been using Helmi's v1.1 for a while and I'm very happy with it.
I haven't tried JWright's Crossbow ROM's, because I'm settled with Helmi's and the base image is the same. When a newer build comes out though, I'll probably upgrade again, no matter who releases it.

The latest PDAViet 2.00.07 PRO combined the Helmi and Jasjar. Basically, they combined what works best in each ROM and all the known fixed to create a better ROM. Basically that what cooked ROM is. You combined the best ROM, tweaks, fixed, suggestions, etc... to create a better more stable ROM.

I tried all 3 roms, now i use PDAViet 2.00.07. I think this rom is the best one that has all necessary functions with big memory and less memory leakage. I can also use Bluetooth stereo with this rom.

LVSW Edition 10mb pagepool

Is anyone interested in a WM6 LVSW Edition (2007-03-26) with 10mb pagepool?
I've already flashed it and it is ready to upload, so if anyone is interested I can upload it here.
Already tried a 8mb pagepool on an AKU 3.3 and found it much quicker, so now i'm trying it with 10mb.
The standard version had 6mb so you will lose 4mb memory when using this version.
But a lager pagepool seems to help a lot with the Widcomm stack, less slowdown and great sound quality.
Ok I've uploaded this version to RapidShare, here is the link:
http://rapidshare.com/files/23384131/LVSW-07-03-26-10mb_pagepool.ZIP.html
Is this package just the OS or did you include bootloader, radio, etc?
Thanks for the information (and for sharing your work)

Or in this Case sharing LVSW's work....
Sure... but he had to repackage it right? Same argument could be made about LVSW sharing Microsoft's work
Seriously, thank you EVERYONE for sharing your experiences, knowkedge and support in the forums.
Does this repackaging actually includes the Widcomm stack?

It doesn't include the widcomm stack, but works okay with it
It also doens't include the radiorom, but does include IPL en SPL 1.35 OLI.
And also ext.rom.
It is just LVSW version withouth the radio and with the Pagepool edited to 10mb. And Ollipro's 1.35 HardSPL.
So I really didn't do any hard work I just thought I share it because I already edited it for myself.

Interesting, but I am running out of memory as it is so I can afford to loose another 4MB of Program Memory.

I could also make a version with a smalller pagepool so you have more memory, but don't know how bad this will impact on performance.
Hi Trion,
Flashed your tweaked ROM and first impressions are fantastic, even installing programs is much quicker. I will post more once I´ve used it a few more hours. Many thanks.

Where and how did you hear about this?...

I had a Wizard and firstly T-Mobile released a German aku3.3 rom and a few months later somebody found a WWE rom on the Croatian T-Mobile site for my old device. Now, i have a Universal and i've seen that T-Mobile also released a German rom and i everyday checked the Croatian site and hoped the same would happen. Today i realised the new WWE rom is out.
I see
I see...what a find that must have been...I'm in the process of upgrading my Uni and I noticed that the Upgrade Utility App claimed that the Rom it would be upgrading is 2.0.... ? Isn't 2.0 WM6, I noticed that the thread title said Wm5 rom...I just wanted to clarify with you if this rom is WM6 or WM5...

OS 5.1.465 (Build 15673.3.3.1)
It seems to be an aku3.3
Fast and it should be stable because it's official.
Could someone put more screenshots please! Is this AKU 3.5?

Fast and stable build

Which one build is the fastest and most stable? Not cooking ROM but only build!!!
Eh?!
Wrong forum If you are asking which is the fastest from the manufacturer.. None of them.
The phone comes with WM5
If you are asking Which is the fastest Cooked rom try Mun or Ax3l They are old but Damn fast.
Currently using Karmba_a Which is fast considering it's using 2d TouchFlo and has Java installed. Stability is also great. As long as you don't have loads of contacts.

I used the Ax3l rom for over a year. Now I'm using the tnyynt 016 which is faster than the Ax3l. The Manila roms are nice, but they suffer from low memory problems when running larger apps.
Im using g77 5.00 Opal-Trinity 95/5 FINAL , so far in my experience it is faster ( from boot up to loading of apps ) than any other M2D cooked roms ( i tried and flashed as new diamond/M2D roms was posted )
Thx for reply. I seek fast and clean rom with much RAM, because I don't use HTC Home and much another app. witch are instaled in cooked ROM and therefore I ask for build. Wrong ask, sorry. Questins this same. Wich ROM is best for me ?
you should try one of the lite versions.
