is it possible to add more colors to the homescreen other than standard and guava bubbles?

It is... by editing the XML file, or installing a homescreen with a different color scheme. There are several links out there with instructions, here's one to start (scroll down a little, the color scheme section is there)

BlackBarsScheme
This is a Color Scheme with registry entries to enable true black bars (softkey and icon bars). Just select your homescreen and select Color Scheme: Black Bars. It works with all the standard homescreens on my dash. Experiment and see what works.

If you try to specify your softkeys menu bar in a homescreen as black wm5 will give you grey. In order to get "true" black you must create registry settings. It has been said (though I don't know if it's true) that Homescreens that set the registry will create seperate entries for every homescreen with black bars you install (true enough), but if you uninstall those homescreens the registry entrys will stay(?) until you factory reset your phone. So if you install 20 homescreens with black bars you end up with 20 different registry entries for the same effect even if you uninstall 19 of them. The BlackBarsScheme will only create one set of entries and can be used with any homescreen you want to use.

This is a spin of the BlackBars.cab I did before, but this time with the gradients on top and bottom bars. Gives more of a vista look to the Homescreen. I have seen the BlackBars.cab floating around everywhere (included with homescreens and other places, so this one does have credit to me).
Make sure to select "Black Gradients" as your color scheme then reboot.
The color scheme is the T-Mobile color scheme, but you can edit/replace the BlackGrad.scheme.xml to change the scheme colors.
Please note: You must reset your device (power cycle) for the changes to take to the bottom bar.

Is this one only for WM6?
On my (WM5) O2 XDA Cosmo the Gradient Scheme has no effect, even after reboot.

Hey I did a quick search and found a way to set the background wallpaper of the start menu, but is there an easy way to just change the color? IE: I want to change it to black or gradient black
you can't really change it to any color, as the startmenu-background is a plain white bitmap-fil, and not an internal color. see my thread below (changing internal images-thread), there i wrote about the reg-key where to thange this image.)

I was wondering if there was a way to change the softkey bar and the top windows bar color and font on just the tf3d? I have ui tweaker but it changes it for the whole phone. I want it to be black with green font on just the tf3d and green with white font in programs and the program list and what-not. I also want to make my slider clear. I have tried a few cabs but then you see the icon behind the big icon of the slider.
I'm using Miris WM6.5 Rev 10.1. I like the default HTC Black theme but i would like to have blue or red selection bars (no the scrollbars just the "thing" that appears when you select a mail or a file, etc).
Does somene how a theme like these? I don't want to change default icons.

can't seem to figure it out. I just want to change te icons in my softbar.
been looking for two weeks now and even with themes and cab installers they won't change.
anybode has some hint as where to look (png, manila etc).
btw : Mikenificent 6.0 with startmenu at the bottom (three key bar) an max manila 2.6 beta

found the png's only thing is changing the size, when i change the size of the png's it seems they are not shown.
this doesnt count for the softbar png.
