I am trying to set up a bluetooth activesync between my xp pc (activesync 4.2), and my wm5 blue angel (xplode 3.5 aku rom).
I understand that I have to creat a com port connection between the devices, before I can activesync.
On my computer bluetooth settings, I try to add a new incoming com port, and it automatically assigns com 3.
On my blue angel, I try to assign an outgoing com port, and it shows me a drop down list of coms 0-9, but I can only assign 0, as on the others it shows error message: The COM port could not be created. Please check your settings and try again. I have also tried the com ports vice versa (pda incoming, pc outgoing).
Which settings do I change, and what have I done wrong?
Thanks,
Tom
I have the same problem on my Imate JasJam.
Did you manage to resolve this or anybody get back to you?
I found an interesting point of solution here:
http://www.eten-users.net/lofiversion/index.php/t4588.html
indicates a registry hack to change COM7 to com7 and so on. Am trying it now and will post.
Tried that didnt work grrrr...
Same here - does anyone has a solution for this?
ok i will try to not be so rude, but please learn how to use PC before ask questions like this one.
first on your pc make sure you do not use Bluesoleil or Widcomm software
plug your BT dongle
windows detects it like generic bluetooth radio (or asks for driver, install just the driver without the software)
go to control panel
go to bluetooth devices
on com ports tab press add
choose incoming
press ok
it will show you which port is incoming (com3 my case)
press ok
open activesync
press file
press connection settings
check allow connections to one of the following
select your incoming com port (com3 in my case)
press ok
thats it
you can now sync trough bluetooth
P.S. this question was asked a lot of times it is not a problem in rom it is a problem in user
I have been able to get bluetooth to work in the past no problem.
On this one, I couldnt get it to work, and I am not sure why.
I understand the steps that you have indicated, and do tend to agree.
That said, my last attempt was a failure, and I am still to continue trying.
It should work ok, it has worked ok in the past, but for some reason, we were unable to choose com1-7 due to the error indicated. Only com0 was able to be selected but the PC doesnt allow that.
When I have tried and done it, I will post, but the steps indicated worked fine for other devices, just not the hermes for some reason.
i just add a bluetooth port in local services in the vidcomm software
set ac to use that
bound the device
start activesync on the pda and click bluetooth
and it works
i dident asign any in or outgoing ports on the pda at all
Simon,
I recently had problems getting my XDA Exec to sync over Bluetooth with Activesync. I was able to prove that it was an issue with the phone and not the PC as I also have an XDA2 running WM5 and it could pair with the PC and then Sync fine. Also, if I hard reset the XDA Exec, it would pair again.
Whenever I paired the XDA to the PC it would always offer "Serial Port" as a service and not "Activesync". I spent a good while thinking that it must be the PC at fault, maybe Activesync was setup wrong, but the XDA2 proved the PC was fine.
In desperation I had a dabble with the Registry and deleted a few sub keys in and around HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Bluetooth and eventually got it working again. The NON working Registry is below. The subkeys I deleted were
Bluetooth\Activesync\000a3a644396
Bluetooth\Device\000a3a644396
and I also changed
Bluetooth\Activesync\Initialised=1 (was 0 before)
After this, when I paired to the PC and it looked for the services, the WIDCOMM icon on the PC would kick into life and say that the XDA Exec was trying to access a COM port, click here to allow it, and when I did I was presented with "Activesync" as a service. Before, I was getting nothing from the WIDCOMM icon (other than to say to enter the PIN).

As Rudegar says above, no need to create any COM ports on the phone itself (although some of the guides I read on the internet said that they had to create a com port on the phone in order to get "Serial Port" to change to "activesync" in Services).
Good luck.
Thanks for all the help guys, I am always learning
I came to this forum a complete beginner in Dec 2006, and now I know a fair bit about PPCs
activesync don't work here nomore
Mine quit working after connecting with a buddy for some file transfer. Seems in using the port7, it did not properly disable the automagic port7 of activesync. I was only getting serial port option after pairing with desktop and I could not setup port7 in the BT com manager. So I followed the advice above, which is
HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Bluetooth
and delete all keys here.....(there was just one and is most likely different)
Bluetooth\Activesync\000a3a644396
delete the PC device on the phone....repair it to the phone....and voila activesync is an option again.
thanks for pointing me in the right direction!

I am new here and probably having the same problem, and try to add communication port to my pda. I try to follow exactly the deleting instruction above but the registry command doesn't look the same on WM6. Any idea?
It took me a week until came across this thread. I look into register on PPC as suggested and delete all the sub key under activesync. Then, redo all the pairing. It works.
Thanks.

... In desperation I had a dabble with the Registry and deleted a few sub keys in and around HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Bluetooth and eventually got it working again. The NON working Registry is below. The subkeys I deleted were
Bluetooth\Activesync\000a3a644396
Bluetooth\Device\000a3a644396
and I also changed
Bluetooth\Activesync\Initialised=1 (was 0 before) ...

Thank you Mikey.
BenQ E72 WM standard 6.0. Dell Vostro 1200 Win XP Prof SP3 w. Broadcom BCM92045NMD using BlueSoleil 6.249.0 (note not Widcomm). BlueSoleil had registered two serial ports 12 & 13 automatically.
When I attempted to set-up ActiveSync 4.5 I got the message "Cannot connect to using Bluetooth to a PC that supports ActiveSync ..."
When I examined (on the BenQ E72) HKLM\software\microsoft\bluetooth\activesync\ there was (only) a key 000c557257fc with values Priority 1 and RasEntry Photosmart A510 seri and a key 000c557257fc under HKLM\software\microsoft\bluetooth\device\
Now I had previously set-up a BT partnership w. an HP PhotoSmart A516 printer+BT450, and in hindsight it appears this had "claimed" the ActiveSync partnership and somehow inhibited setting-up an ActiveSync partnership with the PC. (I was surprised to find that the HP printer BT printing had some involvement in ActiveSync.) So maybe if I had simply deleted that HP PhotoSmart A516 partnership, the problem would have gone away?
However I proceeded as follows.
I deleted the keys above referencing 000c557257fc and changed bluetooth\activesync\initialised=0 to initialised=1
I had also set-up another serial port (4) on the Dell Vostro 1200 which I had assigned in ActiveSync 4.5 as the connection port, but when re-pairing BlueSoleil kept saying it had connected to port 12, so eventually I gave up resistance and assigned port 12 as the ActiveSync port. (I have seen some references to older versions of BlueSoleil which indicated that it used port "A" in its list as the ActiveSync port, so I wondered if it still had a preference to use the first port on its list for ActiveSync, or whether it was just some aspect of changing the "Serial Port" to "ActiveSync".)
Later I re-paired the HP PhotoSmart A516 printer. The result was another key (again) under HKLM\software\microsoft\bluetooth\activesync\ namely 000c557257fc with values Priority 1 and RasEntry Photosmart A510 seri and HKLM\software\microsoft\bluetooth\device\000c557257fc
I could then use the HP printer, but to connect to ActiveSync again after sending something to be printed via BT, I had to pseudo-re-pair the connection to the PC and then it was OK.
doesnt work
i did everything like you wrote and finally i could see activesync in the services list.
but when i try to connect via bluetooth it tries to connect, pc reacts both bluesoleil and activesync. it says it's connecting and the green icon circles but it can't connect.
do you have any idea about what the problem is?
thx

You have to manually site there pressing return all the way through BOTH registry rgu's
what is the problem with this. does anyone else get this?
I have been sat here for 3 hours trying to get all of the entries on separate lines.
there has to be a faster way of doing this?
are you seriously trying to tell my that JJ, Sleuth, Schaps etc etc all sit there for hours pressing return?
No i dont think so, so it is possible that someone can enlighted me as to what i am doing wrong
thanks

Ive never experienced any errors with rgu to hv and voce versa conversions. I'm still using CORE's Kitchen!
Set 'Wordwrap' to 'off' when editing if using Notepad.
And make sure you set it to Unicode and not ANSI...
You have to check a few things.
1) REGEDIT4 at the top of the file
2) wordwrap is off
3) Save as Unicode
4) Leave a blank line at the last part.

Right.
Never 'take for granted' every details.
make sure you have both .dll's present in the directory when you make the conversions (cereg400.dll & msvcr71.dll).
i had similar issues and found out I forgot to copy one of them althou everything "seemed" to work fine.

Somewhat related issue ... any help appreciated...
I'm trying to build a package for one of the apps I always use. I have been somewhat successful, but I see (when doing a WinDiff comparison on REG dumps before and after CAB installation), that there are several more Registry Entries created than can be gleaned from the CAB file. Several of these REG entries include a CLSID.
I used one of the online GUID generators to provide me with the GUIDs for the DSM and RGU files ... no problem.
But the CLSID entries already in my registry dumps obviously don't match this ID. So, do I:
1) make the CLSID entries in my RGU to match the ones in my REG dump?, or
2) make the CLSID entries in my RGU the same as the ones generated for my DSM and RGU files?, or
3) Change the GUID numbers on my DSM and RGU to match those of the REG dump?
Does it matter WHICH way I do it? Do my GUID numbers need to match the CLSID numbers at all?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks a lot,
-pvs
A few people have been trying to figure out how to get rid of SQM, and custsat.dll was causing most of the errors. I posted a few weeks ago in the kaiser forum the I was going to post how to do it, but forgot. Anyway, removing SQM is now simple (for ROM cooks):
1. Delete SQM package from SYS
2. Place my dummy custsat.dll (attatched).
...dummy custsat is a dummy custsat.dll that exports all correct ordinals, and simply returns zero for all functions. SQM is a reporting library that apparently sends non-personal information to microsoft about your pocketpc's performance. note this is for wm6.1, wm6 you can just delete sqm.

Wouldn't it be easier to remove the whole SQM package:
-custsat.dll
sqmce.dll
sqmconn.dll
sqmdata.dll
sqmevent.exe
sqmsvc.dll
uptime.dll
uptimesqm.exe
AND remove the RGU entries from the Hive?
Then the whole package wouldn't be called upon anymore, so no errors with custsat.dll etc.

if you tried that in wm6.1, you would quickly discover that unresolved imports will cause everything from tmail.exe to cprog.exe not to execute.

Ahh, I (obviously) haven't tried that in WM6.1 (haven't cooked a WM 6.1 ROM yet).
Well done, I'll going to use your dll when I decide to cook me a WM6.1 ROM.
ok i will try in my new rom! thanks!
Very useful
I 'll use your SQM in my next ROM. Thanks.
OK cooked in and NO problems at all. Thnaks for sharing!!!
What i didn't post thanks for this...
Dammit, muchos gracias great job testing now.
I wnet almost insane trying to get rid of SQM in WM 6.1
Worked on this side of the coin!
Thanks a lot!
I used this with WM 6.1 Classic edition for Hx4700( remove Phone and related phone folder in SYS) , returned error.
I deleted all except original custsat and rgu and dsm , no error.
I used with ASUS P525 and hTC Cruise , all's OK.
Thanks.

Since noone responded to that I am gonna answer to cut other peoples problems away. If you try the other way incl. deleting ceipui.exe you will have seriouse activesync issues. People on vista (some, specialy those who havent updated theyre computer) wount be saved by sktools for cleaning up and make a new repllog session. So my experience is that deleting ceipui.exe is not a smart move

Finally found a MIX_NOTIFY.VOL without ceipui notifications that works for me in my lite spanish ROM

one question... where i have to place this dll?
Activating this thread again, hopeing to get an answer...
From what I can understand, SQM (System Quality Metrics) is a service running in winmo 6 and ff. Services are always manageable in the way that they can be disabled and/or stopped. Shouldnt it be possible to get rid of ceipui.exe making its "call home" to redmond by just disabling the SQM-service (and possibly a few others that might be depending on it)?
I had a quick look in the registry and found what I think is the service in question, sqmupload (sqmsvc.dll). Easy to set it to manual start and easy to "disable" it (just move it to another location in the registry for safety, dont delete it).
I'll hardreset my device and test it, will post results here later on.
[Edit]
Btw, I am not a cook, therefor I'm trying to find another way to solve this
Ok, I should clarify that what I wanted to do was to remove the annoying popup dialog about participating in the Customer Feedback and this registry tweak has done just that.
Its workning perfectly on an Athena 7500 with a wm 6.1 ROM.
The registryentry this regards is:
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Services\SqmUpload]
Should look something like this:
"Context"=dword:00000000
"Dll"="sqmsvc.dll"
"Order"=dword:00000099
"Keep"=dword:00000000
"Prefix"="SQM"
"Index"=dword:00000000
"DelayLoadOnEvents"="SDP_DATA_AVAILABLE"
"Flags"=dword:00000004
Create a key in HKCU\Software, name it whatever you like (f.ex. Backup) and move this key to that location. The service is now "disabled", and it doesnt look like its calling ceipui.exe, nor does it call on uptimesqm.exe as far as I have been able to spy on the system.
If anyone experiences any problems, please tell me. I'd really like to know
//Anders
what about 6.5?
isn't it enough to delete all files from SQM package excluding dsm and custsat.dll? what is the difference between using dummy custsat?
Any experience with these with latest builds (6.5.3)?
- Remove customer feedback
- remove error reporting
- etc etc...
Thanks.
Hi, i was going thorugh this forum and come across some registry twicks.
like below
Show Network Operator Name in today screen
Restoring Today Item: WiFi, BT and Phone Connection Status
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Today\Items]

"Flags"=dword:00000000

"DLL"="netui.dll"
"Order"=dword:00000000
"Enabled"=dword:00000001
"Type"=dword:00000004
I downloaded and installed Kilmist Registry Editor V2.5 on my htcp3300
but could not get how to add above entries in registry.. can someone address my query
Thanks
any clue guys.... i need to apply some tweaks by editing registry
I am trying to add an extension to the context menu of the File Explorer. I know how to do this in desktop windows, but it doesn't work in Windows Mobile. This is what it looks like for destktop windows:
Code:
RegistryKey key = Registry.ClassesRoot.CreateSubKey("*");
RegistryKey shellKey = key.CreateSubKey("Shell");
RegistryKey emacsKey = shellKey.CreateSubKey("emacs");
emacsKey.SetValue(null, "Edit with emacs");
RegistryKey commandKey = emacsKey.CreateSubKey("Command");
commandKey.SetValue(null, "c:\\emacs\\bin\\emacs.exe %1");
I tried the same thing on WM6.5.3, only I switched the call to emacs for "pword.exe %1". No additional items showed up in my context menu. I decided to ditch the "*" and try to add a context menu for a specific file type first. My next attempt looked like this:
Code:
RegistryKey extensionKey = Registry.ClassesRoot.CreateSubKey(".csv");
extensionKey.SetValue(null, "csvfile");
RegistryKey csvfileKey = Registry.ClassesRoot.CreateSubKey("csvfile");
RegistryKey shellKey = csvfileKey.CreateSubKey("Shell");
RegistryKey openKey = shellKey.CreateSubKey("Open");
RegistryKey commandKey = editKey.CreateSubKey("Command");
commandKey.SetValue(null, "pword.exe %1");
RegistryKey editKey = shellKey.CreateSubKey("EditFile");
editKey.SetValue(null, "Edit This File");
RegistryKey commandKey = editKey.CreateSubKey("Command");
commandKey.SetValue(null, "pword.exe %1");
Which creates an (abbreviated) registry tree like this:
Code:
[-] HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT
[-] .csv = csvfile
[-] csvfile
[-] Shell
[-] Open
[-] Command = "pword.exe %1"
[-] EditFile = "Edit This File"
[-] Command = "pword.exe %1"
My "Edit This File" option still does not show up in the context menu when I right click on a .csv file, but if I left click on it, it opens up in Pocket Word, as expected.
There must be some way to do this. I just don't know why it can't match the way it works in desktop windows. I guess I have two questions:
1. Is it possible to add context-menu items in File Explorer through the registry?
2. If so, can I extend it to files of all types? ( "*" )
I am using C# right now, but if there is an easier solution in C/C++ I'm open to it. Thanks in advance for any tips.
I'm trying the same thing and I also have no solution for this.
But i found a code sample from Microsoft, it's called CTXMenu and is included in the Windows Mobile 6.5.3 DTK.
It demonstrates how to implement a context menu extension handler.
The application extends the File Explorer context menu that appears when you tap and hold a file.
Unfortunately it's coded in C++ and I'm not so familiar with C++, so I can't help you with your problem.
But if this code sample is useful for you, I would appreciate it if you could tell me how you managed it to get this work.
I had similar problem these days. After about 2 days of googleing and editing and trying (with my minimal c++ knowledge) I succeded to create menu item which started my application with filename parameter. Of course I used the CTXMenu example and some other examples too.
As far as I know (and tried) there is not other way than extension to file manager.
Good thing is you can create menu item for all filles ("*").
Hi all.
I need to deactivate the Bluetooth connection in my Citroën C4. It uses a NAC infotainment system (same as Peugeot) but there is no option in the menu to do it.
I founded in previous infotainment there were some cheats codes (like BTSTARTER;0) to do it, but they don't work in NAC. There we have the hidden menu but it only shows information and is not possible to modify anything there.
Spoiler: Explanation
To access the hidden menu in NAC is necessary to press at least 6 seconds the multimedia button and then enter first the list (for example 1130) and then the code 1122.
Here is the list of available codes
1111 Spy log generation
1122 Master mask
1130 Information about amplifier, battery etc
1133 Information about radio / received / freq
1134 Information on satellites and services
1135 TomTom version
1136 Information about WiFi devices
1137 current user status, temp.
1138 Linux, USB, processor utilization
1139 GPU memory load
1140 connection status WiFi, tethering, Bluetooth, rndis, ipadreesen and macadressen and much more.
1141 Connected USB devices
1142 ATB connection
1143 no information without serial connection
1144 tone becomes quieter
1145 Provider status, SMS status
1146 Download status
But under the NAC there is a Linux system, so for sure it is possible to create a script or something similar that would be read from the USB.
In this thread they found the way to create a file that will be read by the system to perform some actions, so I guess it could be a starting point
Spoiler: Explanation
Here is explained how to create a file to be read by the car:

So the complete content of the usb file is
Code:
#USB Demo file
[general]
id=9cfd0bf57a94a3beb6c990e9c9c78247a8bc78fd3310aa6f58a247f8dabe3b7f
# Activate engineering mode
# engineering_mode=0 (Absent) engineering_mode=1 (Present)
engineering_mode=1
# Create one spy
# create_spy=0 (don't create spy) create_spy=1 (create spy)
create_spy=1
# Option to automatically sync spies with USB. Currently it exports spies to USB and delete the existing ones on NAND
sync_spies_with_usb=1
Create a file and rename it to ID (without any file extension!) and copy the code above into the file.
Copy the file in the root directory of the usb stick and plug it in to the nac.
After you insert it in the nac, it will copy the spylogs to usb.
And maybe you can do other things with the engineering mode.
Click to expand...
Click to collapse
The id comes from rootfs\usr\bin\sem_dm_server, but I would need help to find my own ID if necessary
I don't know if it would be possible to do it based on some of the previous ideas or somebody has another way to do it. I would really appreciate any ideas.
It is something very important for me, so I would be happy to invite some drinks (or a dinner!) if somebody could help me with it.
Cheers!
