thanks for the relply, there are some available on Ebay but at riduculous prices.
I bought one of these: HERE
It doesn't work, so I'm wondering if any one has experience with this cable, it says it's an OTG but I get no power from it.
Does anyone have any ideas?
I tried to plug in several things like my PS3 controller and a HDD but nothing.
I'm wondering if the pin that is supposed to be shorted to ground is on the mini end and not the micro end like we want it to be.
Otherwise I wonder if I I can modify it work rather than send it back?
Do you have the 3.1 update?

Send me your tablet cause you have no idea how it works. No 3.1 means no USB host driver support for thoese devices. The kernel has no idea what the devices are or for what

I lol'd at these two getting owned
But anyway I built my own usingthis and a usb extension. Followed this instructions. So my guess is that the cable you have doesn't have the 5th pin (brown wire) grounded. I butchered a regular micro usb cable just to find out it didn't have the brown wire at all.
Hope this helps!

This is my guess also, but the eBay guy as you can see clearly sells it as an OTG cable. I have been in touch and he says his supplier says it's an OTG but he doesn't have the technical expertise to understand, let alone advise.
I guess the solution is as you say, I went to the workshop, and even tried the local electronics store and it seems you can't buy the micro-usb plug as an individual component so butchering other stuff seems to be the solution.
As for the tutorial, thanks, but I shouldn't need it, otherwise I should probably send back the certificate for my degree in Electronic Engineering that's on my wall, cause I really wouldn't have earned it

Yeh, It does look nice and neat, that's why I ordered that one, if I get the time I'll make some myself and just give them out to people I like on XDA. Just need to find the micro plug, mini plug is easy to get hold of.

Well, the iGo is no good, because they probably don't have the data lines connected, as it's for charging.
The one in your next post on eBay won't fit if it's an CA-157 substitute, I got hte real Nokia CA-157 and the connector is squared off at the end, picture: HERE
however, I did get a file to the end of my CA-157 and filed it to fit, and YES it works (taking a picture now)..... attached.
The cable you linked to on ebay is just a micro usb to a mini usb, an OTG cable is a Micro male to USB female.
4 bucks free shipping: Ebay
Spend 4 more dollars and get one with a cool blinky LED in it:

This ist a very good information and now I have the same cable as you working perfectly for me! In the first place I ordered the cable in the believe it would fit anyways but after receiving it yesterday I had to face the fact that there is an A and B standard of the micro usb plug. Your tip has saved me money, thanks for that!

No problem. I have this and the cable from my OP now working too. I opened it up and found the ID pin was not connected so I soldered it to ground and that works now. SO I have a direct cable for my HDD and a female USB (the filed Ca-157) for other stuff.

Wish I had read this before ordering 2 from the same guy. Could have just bought the adapter from amazon that someone linked earlier for $0.25 a piece....
Hey guys,
Long story short, I'm an idiot and have slightly torn my LCD flex cable.
Does anyone know if it's possible to repair or replace this cable without having to purchase a whole new LCD?
If they're replaceable, any suggestions on where I could purchase from?
Cheers.

I don't think this site has what you are looking for but I don't know the inside of the Atrix too well. It has 2 cables to choose from, maybe one will help.

It's impossible to change the Flex Cable of a LCD Screen. At least, that's what (at least) 20 electronic technicians said about changing the flex of a N97 screen to a Satio Flex cable - my last phone (now it's an Atrix).
So, I'm sorry, but I guess you'll have to get a new LCD.
- I'll search for an alternative.
Erich.

Good prices, but problem with GDP is they require at least 2x purchase of every item or a min $150 purchase... So not much good for the average user.

Thanks mate. You're right. Has 2 of 3, but unfortunately these are not the droids I'm looking for. I'm bookmarking that site though, as it's hard to find those other 2 flex cables. Cheers.

Hey Erich. Yeah, I think you might be right. After pulling my old LCD apart, i doubt anyone could attach a new cable without professional equipment and a brain surgeon steady soldering hand.
I've given up and ordered a new LCD.
Thanks everyone for your help though. Moral of the story, if you're gonna bust a cable, make sure it's one of the accessory cables instead.

Thanks for that! I just found out now that the MicroUSB/MHL connector is directly on the mainboard... I thought it would have been a small seperate PCB... that's going to be annoying to repair!

you can't buy it, everything is on ther from the cpu to display, wifi and radio, your only option is take it back to samsung.
I had a sony x10i. Cost me more than a new phone to reclame it
Isnt there a pièce of paper stuck inside?

No, unfortunately not. It works better with certain cables... I can get a socket for 8 euro... I will check out repair costs and I may buy the equipment rather than pay a ton of money to get it repaired if it comes to that...
Do you successfully replace it? And where you find it?
Because i think mine have to be replaced. Is it hard to replace?
My i9300 felt few times one ground with charger and i accidently drop cofee on it. Then, only charge remain and 2 days after nothing. But everything else is working perfecly.
Thank for helping me!
Sorry for my inglish, its not my native language.
Hi, the socket is on the motherboard and not a separate piece like on some other phones. So either replace the motherboard for about half the price of the phone or find a repair shop that will solder a replacement part on to the phone for you.
I saw many threads regarding soldering the connection directly to the micro USB port, but I'm not that good at soldering
So came across this on ebay, got it for around ~$17(Rs.1000) Including the wireless charger, working fantabulously :good:

How easy is it to plug/unpulg the microUSB connector when you need to plug in a cable or USB OTG device? and is that something you find yourself doing often?
@ acervenky :good:
Type A or Type B ?

I don't use OTG that often, but yeah its easy to remove, but I think it may get damaged if you plan to plug/unplug frequently.

That connector looks super fragile. Like with my big fingers I might easily rip it out while needing to adb to my device locally.. Haha.
I tend to connect my phone to my computer often, so I guess the best for me would be to opt for a thicker version or solder
