Does anyone have a pdair aluminum case with car mount? I ordered the car mount and it came with a new posting system (Black nub that screws onto the back of the case) but it doesn't fit onto the case and it must be used to use the car mount. Has anyone else had this problem? Do you have the car mount and aluminum case? If so, can you tell me the number on the posting system (black nub)? It should be H2 or F1 or something like that. PDAir says that it is an H2 and my case originally came with an H1 but my case came with the F1 and it fit perfectly. HELP! Thanks!
Nobody can help me out?
you need a H2 connector
H1 will only fit the clip and not the car holder.
This is really weird because the H1 won't fit either. The F1 did, however. This is similar to the H1 except there isn't a screw sticking out of the black nub but instead there is a nut and a silver screw rests in the inside of the case and the black nub is screwed onto the back. Do I have an old version of the case or perhaps a fake?
Nobody has a PDAir al. case with car mount that can help?

Does anyone have the proclip car mount for this phone and is using it with a case? My proclip order is on backorder. I'm kind of peeved with their customer service . . . for spending over $100 on a car mount I'd expect at least some halfway decent service. They don't answer their phone and ignore half my e-mails.
Anyyyyywho . . . I might like find a phone case this would work with. Any recommendations?
Sorry to hear you are having issues with them. I have dealt with them for years and they have been wonderful and responsive to my queries.
Expensive but the absolute best products.
I bought item# 875214 to hold my GNote with case or whatever as it is adjustable. The have a specific holder for Gnote but that would not accomodate a case, bumper what have you.
Hope this helps.

I have a Note with a case and already had the 875214 (for a Captivate with case). It does fit in width but with the thin tpu case I have it is floppy back and forth at the top. It is fine like it is since it is not going to fall out but I would like to find a way to tighten it up by narrowing the slot or find another Proclip adjustable clip that is made for thinner phones.
proclip.
I have a proclip with an adjustable holder. kind of an universal one. I think proclip is a great deal. will add pictures soon
If anyone is interested in taking a dremmel to their expensive Brodit holder, I got my i717 to fit with the Ringke Slim case by dremmeling the crap out of it. Still fits pretty snug without the case, too

Hi guys
This question looks stupid but believe me, you must have this car to find out how big trouble it is to find a proper car dock.
Only suitable place is the air vent but that way phone becomes very hot when using navigation softwares.
If i use the ones which sticks to window then phone is unreachable properly.
So, my question is: Where did you use for docking phone?
Answers with car dock suggestions are welcome...
So i used the magnets in the link, the magnet part i put on the face of my stereo (using heavy foam double sided tape) and the metal strip with the tape on the back of the case for my phone, works great i have a few magnets up so i can change where i put the phone and the magnets aren't really noticeable, i sprayed the one on the deck with black matte paint one layer, can barely see it.

only thing was the case im using is the official vzw kickstand case, i have the magnet around the top part of the kickstand, its not a flat surface its got a texture to it, so i just used some electrical tape and taped it around the kickstand so it wouldn't come off when dismounting from the magnet on the dash
you want something like this
They're called "Gooseneck windscreen mount". I have the same issue you do, and I also dislike vent mounts.
You can use a brodit clip

Hello,
I was wondering if anyone out there had any recommendations on a car mount that works with the Ballistic SG Maxx case?
I really like the way the car mount in this http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1806888 thread. Unfortunately it looks like it is only made to fit the phone without a case.
Anyone have any recommendations for me for a good mount with this case?
Thank you,
Whiteice

I used a Galaxy S (Captivate) & hard Body Glove case w/ detachable beltclip so the nub the clip mounted to increased the maximum thickness of the case to about 1" with the Akron Mega Grip model. The sides are spring loaded so as long as the Ballistic can get a little support from the bottom clips (i.e. so it isn't just the side grips holding the phone) it should work. Thickness of the Ballistic needs to be around 1". Looking at the Ballistic online I think it would work, if you buy it from Amazon you should be able to return it if it doesn't.
RE: Using Ballistic SG Maxx. Need a car mount
I recently upgraded to the Galaxy S3 and not long after my Garmin Nuvi 205 quit working. I had just purchased a new window mount for the Nuvi. I started using the Galaxy for navigation and wished I too, had a car mount. I noticed the Nuvi and the SG-Maxx case had similar slots on the edges and upon further investigation found them to be very close to the same size. I had to remove a small amount of plastic from the Nuvi car-mount to get it to work better, but this was easily done with a sharp utility knife (As you can see in the photo). This replacement Nuvi Car mount was less than $6 online: I have used it for over 3 months now and it has worked well for me.

I did the same thing! A review on Amazon said that they used a mount for a Garmin Nuvi 255W and it worked well, so I bought a mount on eBay for $6 (plus another $6 for shipping). It fits the slots perfectly without cutting. The only thing I would say is that it's a bit tight right now. However, it's very sturdy and works great. I have a USB cord tied around it so that I can charge the phone too.
BTW, the Ballistic SG MAXX black & white case looks GREAT on the white Galaxy S III. I can only find pictures of the B&W case on the pebble blue for some reason. I wanted to post pics, but they were pretty blurry (need more light).
Any ideas about a magnetic case, because i want to use the iMagnet car mount (amazon.com/Cradle-less-Quick-snap-Technology-Smartphone-Windshield/dp/B008IOQ3K6). Not able to post links.
Nicest option would be a (partly) magnetic case which i can just mount to the magnetic car holder. I know it comes with metal plates but how to attach them to the curved back of the One?
We can also discuss any selfmade approache here
i use the imagnet mount and i placed the metal piece between the phone and case with no problems. holds up great on the mount.
i use a bear motion case, fyi
http://www.amazon.com/dp/B00BVWJ9DU/
Sounds great! Doesn't the metal scratch the surface of the one or can I put something between the case+metal plate and the phone?
sorry for the late reply. it doesnt scratch it at all. no issues

Great idea, but is the case still nicely fit the phone? I can imagine that it won't clip correctly anymore because of the added thickness. If i look at my case (just a standard backover from ebay) it doesn't seem to have any room for a magnet plate. Do you have pictures maybe?
This is also (maybe more elegant) solution: click!
well yeah, the case fits fine as i use it. lol. no problems.
I currently use a back cover and a simple car mount on my N5, but would prefer to use a flip cover. But my last faux leather flip cover was destroyed by the car mount.
So I'd like to know if there's a car mount that is flip cover friendly, or a flip cover that's car mount proof. It also needs a way to keep the cover open somehow. Thanks

I personally haven't seen one, but I thought about it when I got those clamp mounts where it clicks with enough pressure on the sides and the phone is clamped by rubber inserts. I tried it with my Seidio Ledger flip case and can be used if you flip the case landscape where the flap would fall open with gravity. I would not suggest folding it back fearing that the case may get damaged at the hinge or front flap.
Here's a car mount I reviewed, but you can use anything that are like the montar mount I reviewed.

Thank you for the review and pointing me towards it. I'd have guessed that the slight curve on the arms of the car mount would push the flip cover towards the screen, partly hiding it - but the pics you have posted tell me that's not the case.
Have you used the cover and mount for long? Did the cover suffer any damage from repeated mounting?

Tell you the truth, the flip case is really not condusive to car mounts. I really didn't fee all that comfortable using it with the car mount for a long amount of time. Getting it out and in is a pain in the butt lol. But maybe something like a spring loaded one that can release may work better than this one.
Exactly! And those fears aren't baseless. Like I said, my earlier flip case was destroyed this way.
Anyway, I found a really cheap car mount, unlike anything I've seen before and ordered it right away, it holds the phone vertically instead of horizontally and attaches to the steering wheel, so flip cover should be alright, though I'll have to see how it affects the charging port....
Anyway, its less than $1.5 so I don't mind trying it out. Link

Cool...hmm..tension mount. Interesting. Let me know how it turns out! Yea, for that price, I would experiment too lol.
