Has anybody a routine how to backup the rom onto the micro sd card?
Maybe also the restore procedure?
Thanks

I find too
Why would you want to do such a thing? - The ROM will re-install when you hard reset the device, if you want to back-up the programs and data installed consider looking at Sprite Back-up - Mike

I guess what he means is in case of a failed rom upgrade a back up of the rom would be useful for reflashing to the stock rom.
I hate when someone posts a question with a title that seems like they are posting the answer lol

I was wondering if you can rename a nandroid without causing any problems. The reason I ask is I have a lot of backups and sometimes I flash a backup for the wrong rom so naming it after the rom would be very helpful. Thank you.

Yes you can, just make sure to not put any space in between characters.
Sweet. Thank you very much for the fast reply. I will hit the thanks button as soon as I'm on my computer.

No problem, learned myself from trial and error. If you put in spaces you won't be able to use the nandroid.
Ok. You saved me the error part LOL
Yep, I add the setup to the end of mine, for example the ones i did last night: 0619-mikg_1_03_pre_2_1 then ......0619-Mikg_2_0_stock, meaning that I made the nandroid before I restored all my apps/data after flashing the 2.0 beta, then after I did my whole setup and verified that it would reboot, I made another nandroid ...0619-mikG_2_0_full_setup
That's a great idea hipkat

Thanks to my Organizational OCD.....
I flashed CyanogenMod 7.1 few days ago, and before flashing i partitioned my SD card with 1GB ext4 partition. Now that seems was not such good idea, since i have only 4GB SD card, and after installing my GPS software, I have only 80MB free on my fat32 partition.
So the question is, since I have two Nandroid backups on the card each around 270MB, can i simply move at least one of them to my computer for example, and then if I ever needed it, copy it back to the card?
Presuming that this above is possible, is the "clockworkmod\backup" folder the only thing I need to copy?
And just another quickie, is there any way I can resize the partitions without losing anything?

I'm not sure about the contents of other folders, so I'd copy the entire folder to my pc.

Agree in general, but I recommend to wipe everything before restoring backup.

If you have a google account, google will restore your apps during set-up,but not the settings.Like the guy above said,Titanium Backup does the trick.

Thats strange, all i can tell you is update your recovery and you might need to do a full wipe and partition your sd card and start over, make sure you use Darktremors Apps2sd tweak.

Now I saw the titanium update. I will see if I can restore from backups..
You have to backup the apps with titanium backup to restore them u can't just restore apps from a nandroid with it

Hey guys, I was thinking about flashing a new ROM via CWM and I've been looking at alot of videos and tutorials online, and they all say, that when you install the new ROM you must "factory data reset" your phone from CWM. So my question is, what will that erase? Will it erase anything on my SD Card? And what programs should I use to backup my stuff, in case it does get deleted?

when you do a factory reset it will wipe internal storage not external(sd card). if you want to backup your apps etc. use either titanium backup or rom toolbox to do so.

once you back up your stuff. install titanium back or rom toolbox (whichever you used) from play store and select the restore option.
Edit- read this link for more detailed instructions..google is your best friend if you are not sure about something

one last advice before you flash read ALL the instruction 2-3 times and ONLY flash when you understand them completely. follow that advice and hopefully you will never brick or harm your phone. good luck

Titanium backup only does your apps and app data......I recommend Easy Backup cuz that will get your SMS, MMS, Contacts, Calender, call log and even your apps

For photos, i recommend using G-Photos Sync feature. for apps, titanium backup, for contacts (the best you can do is export them to a vcf file transfer it to your pc then import from vcf file)
(For music i contain all the sound files on the ext-sd since factory reset doesn't touch ext-sd).
But if you have lost any of your important files, your best chance of getting them back is using hiren's boot on your pc with the undeleter tools.
I am getting a force close when I try to get into 3G hotspot settings, this is most likely related to the fact that I can no longer use my phone as a hotspot with ease.
Okay.....
What ROM are you using? Are you rooted?

Rooted, running andi bones.
it use to work fine, now I restore some backups but none cure the problem.
I have tried factory reset, and every backup I have and the problem is still there.
OK, I ended up going back to stock and installing the original rom I was running, now it's working, I think this got messed up when I tried UKB rom, and all my backups newer than stock would not take care of the problem.
Now I want to delete some of the backups and save a new backup, but I have not found the location of the backup files.

If you want help you've got to give us info. What recovery are you using? For twrp there is a folder on your sd card called twrp. I don't remember the name for the cwm folder because I haven't used it for a long time. I've never used 4ext, so if you are on that you'll have to wait for someone else's input.
