It uses the Mini usb cable so the V3 Cable should have worked. Do you have the most recent version of Active Sync on your computer?

for normal charging and syncing, it uses the normal miniusb
for audio, it uses the 11pin miniusb

The Artemis will charge with a standard mini usb cable. I use the same cable for both my Artemis and my Wizard.
And my other half charges her XDA Graphite (which is not even an HTC device) with my charger and vice-versa.
Any 5 volt charger with a mini USB plug will do. And they should be 5V if they have a mini USB plug on!
mine do not charge with standard cable which charges wizard
and what is ExtUSB (i ve found somewhere that is cable for 9600 and artemis)
even there is converter extusb to miniusb ???
Working great for me
I tried with different USB cables with my Orbit phone. It is workling fine for me. Only the thing needed is to install Active Sync software on PC so that it will update the USB drivers on PC.
I even tried charging my Orbit with motorolla V3i phone electric charger and it charges but very slowly.

you will not be able to plug in a USB peripheral (mouse, keyboard) directly into the phone. it will not work.
you can, however, purchase a +5V powered USB hub (that plugs into the wall), and use that to plug into the phone and plug your KB/mouse into the hub, and it should work. you can find such hubs at www.dealextreme.com
to further answer your question, USB-___USB converters will work as long as the converters have all four lines hooked up. many converters are 'power-only' where only the power/ground lines are connected and the other two lines (data) are not.
So if i buy an ordinary pc hub that connects to power and the plug usb-to-microusb, it will work?
Well let it alone, ill buy a Bluetooth keyboard, will spare time and cables and converters ahahha
The Micro USB plug must be OTG (USB ON THE GO) or your phone won't recognize the peripheral. Also the advice given was correct, the phone USB port can't provide power to a peripheral device and so you must use a powered hub in between the phone and the peripheral device.
A USB OTG has pin 5 and pin 4 tied together in the Micro USB connector end to tell the phone to invoke OTG mode.
Lordareon: yea... if you'd go the wired route, you'd need a powered USB hub, since the Atrix's micro-USB port doesn't work as a host port. It doesn't provide power to external devices.

Yes, The microUSB port at the bottom is used for both data connections and charging. Not only does it support USB host but it also comes with MHL enabling HDTV-out connectivity with the proper adapter.
MHL is a way of using both microUSB and HDMI through the same port. The downside is you need an adapter to use a regular HDMI cable with this one.

I've tried it several times in my car with my radio that has a usb and aux port. It will not play without the special dock attachment in the usb port but I have no way of knowing if a usb to aux cable would work because I do not have one to try.
I will be constructing and selling around 10 of these cables (Micro USB to audio out+charging). Please email me or PM me on [email protected] if interested.

I made one following the instructions on one of the threads, and although it is detected as a docking cable and the system claims to route the audio through it (the steering wheel logo appears in the status bar and I get a message "car audio dock detected"), it still plays through the internal speaker. I'm having the problem with Cyanogenmod 9 and now 10. I never tried with the stock ROM, I'm assuming it works...

The Galaxy Nexus, and Android phones in general, need more USB ports

Having a single USB port to deal with USB OTG, charging, data transfer as well as HDMI will not cut it for much longer.
We've gotten to the stage where our phones are pretty much fully-fledged computers in our pockets, and a single USB port handling all of this will soon become an uncomfortable compromise.
Right now, I don't believe it's possible to use your Galaxy Nexus to play videos from a USB flash drive and charge it at the same time. I don't believe it's possible to connect your phone to your TV through MHL and also connect a USB device (mouse/keyboard/storage).
Nokia knew this over a year ago. The N8 has separate ports for HDMI and USB, as well as a SECOND port for charging. Yo dawg, I heard you like charging, so we put a secondary charging port on your N8 so you can charge while you charge! Shame that the N8 was a crap smartphone, along with all other Nokia flagships since the N95 8GB.
Or am I completely wrong and it is actually possible to do all this simultaneously with a single USB port?
a usb hub?
Its a Samsung thing. My Motorola phones have a HDMI port and micro USB plug also my Motorola phones a SD card slot
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using xda premium
Usb hub works fine.

Can the above connection working?
and i think it is difficult to get a micro-USB socket hub...
Instead of more ports, I'd love to see a hub-like device made especially for phones. It would plug into the phone's microUSB port and give you two more microUSB ports (one for charging, one for computer), two full-size USB host ports (for flash drives, keyboards, etc.), an HDMI port, and a microSD slot.
Is the GN MHL compatible? Also if I remember correctly the MHL adapter has a micro usb port for charging because MHL adapters have to be plugged into the charger to work

In what situation are you needing to plug a flash drive into your phone, and simultaneously streaming that video to a TV? I could maybe see keyboard/mouse for gaming... but is that really happening right now?
I'm just interested in the real-world application of needing more than 1 port...

A docking station with additional ports is the much easier way to solve this than putting 3 micro USB ports on every phone... Similar to the way that laptops have docks for ports.

My adapter didn't work either. I bought a special cable, which works.
Buy a USB Type-C to USB-A female adapter, those microUSB to USB Type-C doesn't work with OTG.
