XDA IIs Keyboard - MDA III, XDA III, PDA2k, 9090 General

Hi all, how can you DISABLE the slide out keyboard on a IIs - through registry?

Through the registry....
Sliding keyboard is very mechanical issue....Use some glue or chewing gum

Why do you need to disable the keyboard? the only issue I recall with the BA's keyboard is with TomTom software and entering a postcode, no on screen keyboard is presented and using the slide out one is a pain. Simple upgrade the TomTom to the later standard (5,21 or 6) and your on screen keyboard will work - Mike

XDA II s keyboard lock
Thanks Mike, my work has a requirement to lock these things down and disable certain functions, I can't find anywhere a registry key that will knock this out, any clues?

Screen Rotation - left and right rotation possible???

Hi guys
Upgraded from my trusty TYTNII a few days ago and am loving my TP2 - it's awesome!
I have the G Config program installed to allow me to choose which programs I can allow the G-Sensor to rotate.
My question is this though, is it possible to auto rotate the screen the opposite way as well? i.e. turn the device to the right (upside-down if you had the keyboard open)
I use TomTom in my car and the way I have the cradle / power connector set up makes it only really possible if I can rotate the screen left instead of right. Up to now I'd been manually doing this using the SBP Pocket Plus 4 Close Button options and allowing the Rotate Screen Right and Rotate Screen Left manual options.
Any idea's? I've changed the option in Shaps Advanced Config that should allow rotation in both directions but it don't seem to work!
Cheers
Gyrator2 will do that.

Hi Fraser - I've looked at Gyrator 2 and I don't like it to be honest - I'm hoping there's some easy registry tweak that can be made...?
Cheers though

D Pad Software

Hi Guys,
Ithink everyone would be up for this!
is there any exisiting software that could create a onscreen dpad for the TPs -right where the onscreen keyboard button is would be perfect for landscape use of the phone...
im not clever enough to code anything like it.. is this sort of thing possible ?
That would be great.
The default keyboard has directional arrows similar to an on screen d pad. I wonder if that can be used to start with?
Yeah is does, would be nice to have something that just took up a small amount of space on screen!
I miss the rotating wheel on the tytn II as well! used to use that loads!
BUT - the TP2 is alot better overall..

Assigning a hot key to rotate screen?

Is there a way to assign a button to rotate the screen. I basically want this for Garmin Mobile XT which does not have landscape display options. I can't have the keyboard slide out with my universal car mount. Any help is very much appreciated.

The "Rodium Keyboard Control" app will let you map the screen rotation to any key you want. It's available in these forums...I believe there's separate GSM and CDMA versions.
or just use g-config

Need tips on closing soft keyboard

I've tried searching for this specific problem but can't find it.
I'm trying to figure out how to close the soft keyboard once it has opened?
In 6.1, I could just re-press the input selector and it would close.
In 6.1, I could just press anywhere in a non-input area and it would close.
Now in 6.5, when I press the input selector to close the software keyboard, it gives me the input selection menu instead (this would be tap and hold in 6.1). The only way to close the software keyboard now is to slide out the hardware keyboard then close. Is there an easier way to close the software keyboard ? I don't want to use a null keyboard fix, I just want to close the soft keyboard at will.
Thanks
(using May 1 NRG Titanium ROM)
You need to tap the left side of the icon to close the software keyboard. It's a bit of a pain and I'm not sure why software keyboard selector isn't under a menu since this is not something I change often. Opening and closing the software keyboard on the other hand is a common task. I might need to look at making a simple mortscript to tap the right spot and map that to a hardware key.
Thanks alot. That explains why the keyboard would go away every now and then when I pressed the input selector button...my finger are too fat.
maybe try re-aligning your screen

but to further enhance it, anyone know any cab / register enable the qwerty keyboard has vibration feedback?
like press a button on hardware keyboard will trigger short vibration of the phone.. silly enough? probably, but would like to try.
