didn't know you could get 4gb micro SD..........
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/4GB-SAMSUNG-G...089833190QQcategoryZ98876QQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem
Sorry buddy but thats a Mini SD, not Micro SD.
cheers for that u saved me some money i was just about to pay for the one i gave the link to saved me some money
There are Micro SD 4GB coming out but they're slated to be Micro SDHC which requires you to have a compatible device. I asked HTC if the Artemis we compatible with it, the answer is no.
i bought a 4gb micro sd card on the cebit and it works in the p3300!
good news!
which one is it? have you been able to fill it all the way, with no problems?
4GB does not mean SDHC
4GB is the limit for a non-HD SD card, and micro-SD is the same "electrically".
I tried a non-HD 4GB SD card on an MDA compact (T-Mobile) that has an OMAP 850 CPU, (like the Artemis) and it works fine. So... non-HD 4GB micro-SD cards should work fine.
It would be great if the HD cards worked, but HD-SC use a different type of addressing (i.e. you have to up the registers in the card in a different way) so it might not work )
What we need is someone to try a SD-HC in another OMAP-850 based device, and see if it works.
see http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/SD_Card#SD_and_SDHC_compatibility_issues
Anyone know anything about micro mmc?

i should be a sandisk (but i am not sure with this chinese guys)
yes, no problems
Can you buy a 4Gb non-HD micro-SD card?
Firstly, apologies if you see this twice because I posted this question in the main forum and realised I should have replied to this thread for those subscribed to it. (newbie)
After reading through this thread there's been some advice that suggests you can purchase 4Gb non-ND micro-SD cards, however after searching I can't find any. I realise HD will not work with the Armentis/HTC/Orbit.
If you have a 4Gb card working could you please reply to the post with a link to the actual product, or supply product details.
Many thanks

That's the HC one, which won't work with non-HC equipment, and the HTC etc don't support HC (sorry I wrote "HD" in earlier post).

LOL, I use a 4 GB MMC Card since 1,5 years in my Magician without problems at all...
Still there is a little hope. Nobody ever stated that Trinity will work with mini SDHC cards. Nevertheless actually it supports this format. WM6 based customized roms made for 3600 do contain new card driver fully supporting SDHC. Though it is compatible with WM6 OS only.
I purchased a 4gb SDHC card (Sandisk) for use in my XDA Orbit (Stock WM5). It does not work - not even recognised as having a card inserted. Has anybody confirmed it works with the unofficial WM6 roms?
Hey guys, i have a dash that wont reconize my 2 gig expansion card. anyone know what i have to do to fix the issue. Thanks!! eddie

I think that's the problem... The stock T-Mo ROM won't recognize higher capacity cards. You can try flashing (installing) the HTC 1.33 ROM or Kavana's/rickwyatt's 6.1 ROMs to enable usage of a larger card.
2 Gig is not a SDHC amount, the T-Mo Rom Should accept it.
Can you put the card in an adapter and access it from your PC?
(To Make sure the card is not corrupt?)
yeh i have a couple files on it that i put on it just so there was something on the card. so i know the 2gig card isnt bad.
Try this first before you put on a new ROM (although you really should put on a new ROM):

I know WM6 should work with 2GB from the start. I've sometimes heard that the brand of card could be the culprit. Which brand are you using?

It is *supposed* to enable SDHC support (cards that are larger than 2GB). I never had the issue as I went with a non-Tmobile ROM (SDHC support is enabled in the non-Tmobile 6.0 and 6.1 ROMs by default) from the get-go. It might not have any effect on the threadstarter's problem, but it's something simple to try just in case.
Honestly, it's probably an off-brand card that the threadstarter is trying to use (that would be my guess), but you never know. It could just be a bug in the OS... Maybe the card is formatted wrong...maybe his Dash is having hardware issues...it could be any number of things (just like with desktop computers - this is a computer after all).
try formatting the card, sometimes the companies place files on the card to be read for certain devices. Formatting the card might work for you.
its a pny card...im going to try installing a new ROM and see what happens. i know the card works...it was flawlessly in my friends blackberry pearl.

PNY cards are horrible, more trouble then they are worth. Toshiba makes these cards primarly for Cameras, so putting them in other devices (smartphones) have unpredictable results. Stick with SanDisk, they cost more but are worth it.

Let us know what happens. And thanks for the tip Bupahs! I know I have been eyeing some PNY SDHC cards for costs reasons, and have been curious if anything would work with WM6.1 ... (hence one of the threads I started here on micro sd's )

I picked up a 4GB SanDisk microSD card on Amazon for something like $22 shipped. Are PNY cards that much cheaper?
So I am interested in replacing the stock 8GB SD card with a 32 GB model. I have a couple of questions regarding this.
1. Are there specific brand's (specs) I need to look out for when getting a 32GB card? i.e. Compatability issues?
2. I don't want to lose anything from my current setup so how should I format my new card and copy over all my data from the existing one?
Thanks!!
already bumped off the first page and no replies.
No one has any idea about this?
I think Q&A must be blackhole
I don't see why you couldn't just unmount, remove, copy the entire contents of the card, install the new one and your off running-
I'm pretty sure you need to format the SD card FAT-32, not sure what block size. I'm guessing your probably going to want a class 6 or greater, and you may want to look into partitioning it (Swap partition? linux type? for better performance?)(I'm kinda looking into that right now myself).
I could be wrong on all counts though. Let me know how you make out- good luck. wow some of the 32G cards are more than I paid for my phone!

(1) If you pay less than about $200 at this point there's a good bet it's a counterfeit card. Otherwise stick with recognizable brands - Kingston, Sandisk, Transcend...
(2) Format the new card in the phone before you copy any files to it then do as the other poster suggested (just copy your files across).
They cost a grip!
Just get a 16GB card for $40-45 for now, not worth spending 4-5x as much for 2x the capacity. Class 4 should be fine as well AFAIK ('specially if you're going for 16GB, C6/16GB can be tougher to find for a good price), C6 8GB cards are super cheap (<$20). The 8GB card that comes w/the phone is C2, FWIW.
I agree...I'd wait for the 32 to come down in price.
8G is plenty for me for now...

Where did u get the info that the card that came with it is class 2? Been trying to find that out but could not get the answer.
I just received my 16G (C6) card today from Transcend...and have to agree...gonna cost you a group to go 32G unless black market piece. Pay the extra dollars for branded hardware...this one cost around $68 and has some great specs.
This does bring up a question for me though...
I partitioned the card at 50/50 but got to thinking...why do I need 8G's for moving apps to the sdcard? Any thoughts from the group as to a good partition ratio?

Pull it out and look, it'll have a class 2 stamp on it.
So to throw another question out there, are there any critical folders I should back up? I'm getting a 16gb card ordered from frys.
I know for sure I'll want to back up pics and music, but I have a lot of nandroid backups and the such. I'm not using apps2sd so that's no real problem either.
I haven't had an Android phone before (coverted from an iphone 2g ) so any help would be appreciated.
Thanks!
I have ordered the 64 GB from Amazon twice and they both failed at 12GB, so I returned them. I saw this sale at BUY.COM and it says they are an authorized reseller, so I ordered one. It is only $47.99, shipped.

Did you buy an item that was sold by Amazon of from another vendor on Amazon? Did you suspect that the cards you bought were fakes or did you just get bad ones. I would be wary of buying this card again if I had two failures unless I could attribute the failures to being a fake Sandisk and I was sure that the 3rd was the real deal.

Nothing about the first two gave me the feeling they were fake. The first one I purchased from the Amazon Market, the second direct from Amazon. While copying files on my PC, they both started out at the same speed as my old class 4 16GB card. by the time they made it to 12GB, they had slowed to a crawl and then completely failed. At that point, they both died and couldn't even be formatted.
I will give it one last try with BUY.COM, if I have the same issue again, I am sending it back and buying a 32GB card.

Hi there,
if you like to know I am right now in the same situation. I buy a Sandisk microSDXC 64GB and the first time I put that card in my OLD card reader the PC recognize the card immediately, so to test the card I start copy a file .iso of 6.5GB into the card and then completely failed less than 6.5GB. Now I can't format the card, no way. I try with SD Formatter 3.1, HP USB Disk Storage Format Tool 2.1.8, Gparted Live, CMD from Windows 7, no way to format the card. I can only delete the wrong partitions. All the app see the full capacity card but I can't format the f....ng card. I made few research and somebody said I have to have Card Reader fit in with SDXC. All the devices which you use have to be compatible with SDXC, if not you have problems. That is not what I say, that is what the other people saying. I just don't understand why my PC recognize the card with my old card reader and then failed to copy the file and now I can't format the card, something wrong with this stuff.
Anyway, to be fully sure I buyed the Mobilelite G3 Kingston Card reader so I let you know when I get it if something change!
I hate this stuff, but I need this stuff!
Today I received the reader SDXC, no luck, all the same, I have to send back the card, so probably was not the reader the problem, this cards are **** and I don't know why?
If anyone know something about this cards, please let me know, thanks.

which device do you use? Do you formatted the card in different system file (NTFS, FAT32)? The old device see the card?
I purchased the 64gb card. used the adapter that came with it and it was recognized by my PC immediately (used the PC to format in exFat).
I also had another USB style adapter that I used to plug my old 32gb class 6 card into. I had that connected to my PC as well.
Then i just transferred all the files from the 32 over onto the 64 using my PC, and popped the 64gb card into my phone after the files were all transferred.
I can plug my Galaxy 3 into my PC using USB and it'll recognize by my card memory and phone memory separately.

I have a 64gbs SD card in my Tab S,i want to replace this with a 128gbs card,if I dismount the 64 gb card can I get everything of it via my pc onto the 128gb card.also can someone recommend a good 128gb card.Thank You.Longlegs
Yes you can. You'll probably have to copy the contents of your SD card first to your PC, then to the new card. As for SD cards, I actually recommend Samsung themselves. They are more expensive but they work all the time every time and aren't faked. Sandisk is great as well, but with there being so many fakes out there, you never know what your really getting.
Samsung or Sandisk are the best, but buy from somewhere reputable as there are a lot of fakes out there, 4gb microsd that look to the computer/tablet as 128gb until you try putting more than 4gb of data on it then you get errors and data lost.
You can use the apps in the link below to test if your card is fake or not, they require a Windows computer and a microsd to full size sd adaptor.
I used H2testw myself on my new Samsung 128gb evo+ microsd it tested as real not fake.
Always format your new microsd inside your table, you can do this in the settings/storage/format sd card.
Also below is an app, that can tell what brand your microsd thinks it is from the manfacturing data on the microsd card, so a Samsung should show as Samsung and Sandisk show as Sandisk, the app is not perfect, read the faq about this.
