Screen protector info - HTC Excalibur

Here's some info for screen protectors for the Excalibur/Dash... I found a really good one on EBay. The info on the package is the following:
BHB
Screen GUARD
The Greatest Guarder For LCD Screen
2.4"
Sony T1 Sony T11 Sony W1 Sony DV
50.5mm X 37.5mm
The following link will bring up the other auctions for the person that i bought it from (platinumaccessoriesstore):
http://search.ebay.com/search/search.dll?satitle=HQ+SCREEN+PROTECTOR+Dash
I haven't found a regular store that sells them yet, but this protector is the best i've seen

Cool thanks. I was planning on getting one and didn't know which one on eBay to buy - and was thinking about just waiting until they're around in the stores... but now I can get this one right now.

im planning on buying a screen protector for my DASH, which hasn't arrived yet, and would like to verify if this is the correct size of the screen itself:
2.4"
Sony T1 Sony T11 Sony W1 Sony DV
50.5mm X 37.5mm

Well, the screen protector fits exactly the width/height of the screen, so I would guess it's correct

Thanks Merwin Actually there's no accessories for Dash here in my country so i'll have to buy one that's exactly the same dimension or a little bit larger and trim it.

Back when this was posted, I bought some -- it was the easiest-to-apply screen protector I've ever used, and yes, it's the perfect size. It's also stayed on for months now, I still have the spares -- very good find.

Yeah, I still have the same one on mine too I got worried when my son put his teeth into my phone at one point. Had a tiny scratch on the protector. I just left it alone and the mark on the protector even went away.

Hi there,
I always used the BoxWave screen protector in all my devices (some 4 PDAs/Phones and 1 iPod) and realy liked them very much.
They have very high rates in all reviews (thats how I got to them in first place) and they ship anywhere (due to the size of the package, barely larger than a regular envelope, it usualy goes fine to customs and other verifications).
For touch screen devices I recomend the Anti-glare (has a realy nice texture to write into) and for my Dash I am going to try the Crystal.

I chose this one:
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=320050331056
It really is anti-scratch - its impossible to scratch it, but the downside is that since it is quite thick it makes the screen a little shimmery.

The Boxwaves are OK, but not as good as the ones originally posted about in this topic. The corners on the Boxwaves started coming loose and unsticking after a couple weeks. The ones Merwin found are still sticking after several months.

www.bestskinsever.com are quite frankly the best skins ever!.

I have been using screen protectors from http://www.expertshield.com on all of my phones for quite awhile now and have had no problems with them at all. They ship from Hong Kong and get to to US in less than a week. Just look at the Dopod C720w. Its the same as the dash.

i use a psp screen protector just size it myself works great ..cheep and easily availiable

I can't stress enough how good screen protectors are. HTC should think about putting them in the box with new phones if you ask me.

That is actually a very good idea, should be a standard accessory for any touchscreen PDA/Phone.
LCD Replacement.
The biggest issue with DIY LCD replacement is that some of the panels vary within the same model.. eg Dopod 838Pro panels seem to be different within the one model!
We've been selling the LCD / Touchscreen kits now for a while (with tools)
http://store.pressdigital.com.au/dopod-838pro-imate-jasjam-replacement-touchscreen-p-4715.html
but find they only work on the newer units.
.. Make sure you get an LCD WITH touchscreen if you're going to DIY it.. They're too hard to get the alignment perfect otherwise..
Good luck

I agree with you guys entirely that screen protectors are great, though I don't think that you'd get something much better than a cheapy from the manufacturer, which is not much better than gladwrap (tm). Dopod ones aren't too bad, but still. Most of your "buy 20 Belkin (or similar) ones for $20" aren't much better. If you're looking, buy Martin Fields screen protectors - they are GOLD!! Sure, $40 for 2 is more expensive, but they'll EASILY outlast your PDA!! The MF ones are made from some NASA-developed rubber or something and are awesome. We've been selling them for ages - http://store.pressdigital.com.au/advanced_search_result.php?keywords=martin+fields&osCsid=6f1194088498df6629265ce05a116c08&x=0&y=0 - and, if you're wanting to not have to worry about major upgrades, this is the key. But, as Andy said, if you're going to buy a screen, you'd be some kind of fool not to get one with the touch attached, 'cause it's just way too much stuffing around- if you get it right at all, which few do!
Hope it gets sorted out quickly for you!

This has happened to me with my orbit 3 times now (broke it in my pocket each time). I just bought a new digitiser off eBay and fitted it myself.

Screen protector
Hi guys
When I bought my Tytn, I had a screen protector with it, but please don’t use it, I will not use it to protect a nokia 3310 screen , it’s a verrrrrrrrrrrry bad quality of screen protector.
Eboo
I damaged my brand new HTC Eris digitizer, and got a replacement from RepairsUniverse.com
They do all the HTC replacements here - RepairsUniverse.com/htc-replacement-parts.html
My new Eris touch screen arrived in quick time with instructions and only took me around 15 minutes to repair my phone.

A good screen protector and where to get one (XDA Orbit, UK)

This may be the wrong forum because my phone doesn't look like the icon for this board - if so, please could someone direct me towards the correct forum? My phone is an XDA Orbit.
Anyway, it came with a screen protector - which was a nice touch. The only problem is it's pretty poor (still better than nothing, mind). Can anyone suggest where, in the UK, to get a good one? I think I've used a Martin Fields one before and a Writeshield, but I can't remember how I liked either one since I don't remember which was which!
So, where can I get a good screen protector for an XDA Orbit in the UK?
I ordered mine over the net from Brando. It takes a while to arrive but the quality is good. I've got one each for my Charmer and Wizard, they ought to have one for your Orbit. It cost approx £7 (I think) including P&P.
Seach for the forum topic on screen protector and you'll get lovely recommendation from other members. There is another brand of srn pro that is heavily recommended by the members as well, not sure if you can get it in UK.
You can try eBay also if you want it fast. Just make sure you get the brand name right.
So Brando is an okay place for buying stuff in the UK then? Also, I suppose my main worry is that the XDA Orbit is the same screen dimensions the Artemis - I don't really understand, are they the same phone with a different shell? Is the Orbit a P3300?
The orbit is the HTC P3300 and you can also find screen protectors at gpsforless.co.uk

Well, I haven't really bought 1,000 stuff from Brando yet, but from my 2 experience with them, they are good in terms of speed (considering the process of it getting from HK to UK), packaging and quality of their product. I dont have an Orbit, but if you (and epmulligan) can confirmed that an Orbit is a P3300, then this ought to do the job . Dont worry about the picture showing you the Palm PPC. Check the words under the description on the compatible devices when ordering.
ANYWAY, chances are, if you were to buy a screen protector for a 240x320 device made by the same company, chances are, the size should be alright (e.g. chances are, the manufacturer will be using the same screen all over).
BTW, did you search the forum for other advises. There are some other brand which the members here also recommended. See if they have Orbit specific ones and probably UK delivery.
UPDATE: I had a look at the screen protector offered at gpsforless for Orbit, which is a 12 pack for £5.99. I've tried some similar 3 pack set from someone from ebay and the quality is REALLY different. Hence, I would advise you not to get it from there.
Thanks for the advice guys, very helpful.
If you don't mind waiting a few days for delivery from the USA the Boxwave Cleartouch Crystal is second to none. I used these on my XDA2i and now on my Orbit.
http://www.boxwave.com/products/cle...h-crystal-screen-protector-htc-p3300_2421.htm
I got mine from this ebay seller dx_accessories
He sells the multi layer stuff and I can confirm it does work. Two main differences from the O2 supplied protector. 1, the top layer is much harder and much more resistant to scratch. It is also smooth (glossy finish) and the stylus glides over it with ease (not the case with the O2 protector). 2, the so-called 'gel' layer that adheres itself to the screen works brilliantly. It left zero air bubble with very small effort. I spent 15 mins getting dust and air bubble out of the O2, this I spent 1 min getting the screen squeaky clean and it sticks on to it perfectly. The size is also perfect, leaving no more than 0.3 mm to any side.
The only problem I have is the glossy finish, making the screen a bit more difficult to see under strong light. I own a Wizard and had a similar protector for similar price but with a matte finish like a normal LCD monitor.
It comes with a screen wipe which is handy. I won't complain for GBP4 all in.

Looked for him and it apears he has nothing at all on sale at all at the moment.
I remembered where I got my writeshield from - globalpositioningsystems.co.uk so I spoke to them on the phone, found the one for the Orbit and ordered it. I just figured I'd stick with what I know because I was satisfied with it before. The main reason I chose this was because the guy on the phone could guarantee me it would fit the device.
I bought mine at http://search.stores.ebay.es/DuraSe...sooZ1QQfsopZ1QQftsZ2QQsaselZ136025443QQsofpZ0
Very quick and impressive quality.

It turns out the person I spoke to at globalpositioningsystems.co.uk was wrong. The writeshield they told me to get is too big...

Best X10 case review (RT-SE10C2/R)

I just received my long waited case from Ray-out Japan exclusive case. The case is a must have to every X10 owner.
I received the case today from Japan, I ordered it online from a Japanese site Rakuten
http://en.item.rakuten.com/keitai/111-986835/
The case comes in 5 different glossy metallic colors and 1 clear, I ordered the Metallic Red color last week and it was shipped by EMS Express mail from Japan to the US.
The case/Jacket is one hell of a piece of accessory. Here is summary:
-The case is coated with 3H film and it is scratch resistant
-It fits the X10 perfectly and doest wobble around like other cases
-It came with screen protector, I think it is the same one SE uses on their X10 stock phones
-The case have a thick paint on it with Metallic touch, so there is no way it would slip from your hand and has a very solid feel to it
-The inside of the case has a glossy coating applied to it so it wont scratch the phone.
-The cost of the case is $25 plus shipping which is about $35 total price, I know it is expensive but well worth it
-The color is very bright and vibrant which screams quality paint
I have posted some pictures of the case to look at, sorry the picture colors are kinda dull. I used my crappy C902 camera. But the colors are vibrant as the stock photo which you can see from the official website below
http://www.ray-out.co.jp/products/se10c2/index.html
I highly recommend the case for every owner, it will breath a new life to your X10, its like a brand new phone
feel free to ask any questions
I tried to order the RT-SE10C3/B model from them before but when I reached the payment and shipment options it was all in Japanese, and couldn't understand anything ..
Is it available in any other (English) store?
Amazon Japan doesn't ship it internationally, and it's not on eBay ..

The store has a step by step guide with pictures for international customers. I just followed this guide it is easy to follow
http://event.rakuten.co.jp/borderless/guide/flow/en/
RT-SE10C3/B is the older model, they use rubberizes material instead of glossy, my brother has one, but the new version RT-SE10C1 has better quality in my opinion
That is a really sharp looking case. Thanks for the review, I think i'll order one.

ill try to post better pics of the case, cause these colors are not doing it justice
i've tried clear cases like this before and the only thing i ever notice about them is the large amount of dirt/dust that accumulates between the case and phone. and HEY it's CLEAR! so everyone gets to enjoy it just like you ... my two cents...

C2 is glossy and brighter color, while C1 has mate finish with rubberized matetial. I thought the C1 model was good until I got the C2 which is whole new story and better quality. So stick with C2;-)

My only gripe with this phone is that there is no protective ring around the camera.
You need a case with this phone unless you want scratches on the camera lens. Kind of a bummer cause I prefer my phones naked.

i didnt order one yet, at&t around here is getting the One X(L) the 6th of May which is coming up so once that comes in i'll get a case from there. Amazon retailers had ugly cases and they said 18-26 days shipping to the states. F that noise.
p.s. i hate cases too, i might have bought a case when i acquired the phone but i figured the lens was set inside the metal ring more and that the gorilla glass would hold up but after seeing someone on these forums with a shattered screen already, i am not taking any chances.
There appear to be two protector screens on the market that come with a protector for the lens. I tried ordering both. The Nillkin from piyobaby on fleabay has been a noshow since being ordered on April 13 despite an email to the vendor and I will probably have to dispute payment. The Martin Fields came through Amazon and seems fine to me, though I did see an allusion to failed application elsewhere on these boards. So ymmv, but I think trying to keep the lens from scratching is worth the effort.

I picked up a case for this very reason. Got a shell case on Amazon for $5.00 and it seems to do a great job protecting the nipple,

Yeah i'l ultra careful with my phone too and i place it on a soft surface everysingle time and still got the scratch, it's crazy.
At home i rest it on the leather couch arm
At work i rest it on a notepad
any other time its in my pocket
In the car i have one of those non slip gel mats.
Had mine 6 weeks now and, touch wood, nothing done to it.
This is my biggest fear as well.
I dont care about the non-removable battery or no sd-card, neither if the SGS3's Exynos processor wipes the floor with Tegra 3.
But this Camera Design is really off the charts. I received my One X yesterday and only carried it in my really clean jeans pocket without anything else. Tiny scratches already. Think that a screen protector will noticeably lower camera quality in various situations.
I thought I had a scratch the other day but it came off.
When I put my phone down it is always on top of my official htc leather case, seems to be doing ok so far, touch wood.

Interesting conversation, but my Martin Fields protector seems to be doing fine re the lens. Just a couple of points: this is an 8 mp phone camera. No special claims about the lens glass quality, although one aspect that very much attracted me is that it shoots at f2. The software is not Lightroom quality and even if it were, the camera makes no pretentions to shooting raw. Even on a supposedly high-quality camera like my Leica, with not exactly cheap lenses, you would shoot raw to maximize the possibility of achieving a high quality output. If shooting in a dark environment and using a flash, your photo can still come out looking unevenly lit, hazy, etc., depending on a lot of factors. If you choose to shoot without a flash, well, not all cameras do well at their highest claimed ISO, which is one reason that people use tripods with a lower ISO and slower shutter speed.
I prefer not having to deal with a scratched lens that could end up ruining every photo to occasionally dealing with some of the effects of glare/flare, etc. Which is one of the reasons I finally caved and decided a couple of my Leica and dslr lenses needed protective filters - and purists will often tell you that even the best "interfere" with the lens.
Try shooting without the flash whenever possible. At f2, this little phone camera can do more than you think and actually produces better (imo) colors.

After a month of use I too have a few scratches on the lens glass around the rim. Nothing to compromise the capture quality yet, but it is clear that this issue will progress without protective measures.
I have been quite careful with the device, carrying it in my pocket without anything else, and now and then putting it on a table. Seems like in incredibly bad engineering solution to make both screen and back cover scratch resistant, yet let the camera lens be compromised so easily, plus placing it right where the phone inavitably contacts any surface it rests on.
I have scratches on ly lens as well. I now put a bit of protection foil over it, which I can replace.
I have scratches as well. I have been really carefull with my phone. The scratches are just from setting it down and thats it. It amazes me that they made the lens design like this. Having the Ring stick out a tad further would have prevented all of this.
I just started using a pouch as I dont like the normal cases. Sometimes I still need to set my phone down and dont want to put it back in the pouch if its going to be for a second.
Thinking about buying the the HTC flip case. Unfortunately they only have it in white and I have the black phone.
Guys are you sure you have a scratch in the camera lens or just a light reflection from inside the Camera because this what I used to think for the past three weeks until last night I was cleaning My Hox and I realized its not a scratch its just a light reflection coming from inside the camera I even told my brother to check it and he said the same thing.

How sturdy is the Moto Z play?

Hi users of Moto Z Play,
I just bought the phone (to be delivered tomorrow).
It seems like a decent phone with a lot of the features that I want. Reviews also seem decent, except that I couldn't find a drop test video.
Since I drop my phone quite frequently from the desk level or hand level, I wanted to know - should I be worried about cracking my phone's screen / destroying the phone itself?
I have been using the Moto G3 so far and am VERY happy with its survival - barring a few small dents to the body, it has taken all the maltreatment I have meted out with staggering grace.

Luckily, I haven't had any such encounters with my moto z play but before I bought mzp I thoroughly researched about sturdiness of thr phone, how company handles warranties etc.
Let me tell you that I use my phone bare, with no screen gaurds, and I hate phone covers to the core. When I added mzp to my online cart, I also added a good screen guard protector and an armored back cover for my phone because every damn review site clearly told that screen is very fragile. One of them had his review unit damaged when he dropped his phone from table.

I also hate screen protectors and screen guards - what protectors / guards are you using now?

No matter how sturdy, this is a glass phone, having gorilla 4 front and back. But it also depends on the impact point, if you are unlucky the glass will break in a small fall also. So if you are not carefull with handling, i suggest a normal case rubber one which has lip for camera and on the front to protect the display, and no need of screen gaurd or tempered glass.
I understand, but is the phone sturdy overall - compared to solid phones like Moto G3 or the Lumia series of old times?

Hi users of Moto Z Play,
I just bought the phone (to be delivered tomorrow).
Since I drop my phone quite frequently from the desk level or hand level, I wanted to know - should I be worried about cracking my phone's screen / destroying the phone itself?

I have owned Motorola now Lenovo phones since the flip phone era and from my experience they are very durable, well built phones.
I purchased the Moto Z Play Droid xt1635-01 (Verizon variant) several days ago and I really like this phone. Phone came with Marshmallow 6.0.1 preinstalled but shortly after I powered it up I got the Nougat update OTA along with two separate security updates.
Whils I am not one to frequently drop my phone, I do install a screen protector and a case on all of my phones, just for extra protection. On my Moto Z Play I have an Incipio dual layer dual pro case (from Amazon) and a Zagg tempered glass screen protector. (from Verizon) They both work very well on this phone.
Since you mentioned that you frequently drop your phone, I would advise you to get a case and a screen protector to put on it.
