My questions is. How can I play MP3 files of my storage card. Not one for one with Wmp. But like a mp3player.
I can't make a playlist because wmp opens only my documents.
Thanx
could you give some more details into what it is that you acutally want and whats wrong with wmp if oversly is the best mp3 player for wm5 and it can play files from your sd card
One I like to use for playing MP3 and WMA is TCPMP, it's advertised a movie player but is also good for playing music and shows the album covers, can browse folders on storage cards as well as on windows network shares.

Oke. But how can i play with wmp, Mp3 files of my storage card. If i go to library I can only select files of my documents. Not anything else.
Bottom right corner, select that, and select Library and select the Storage card. if your stuff is not there, do a "Update library".

Does anybody know of a way to have media player play files on a remote PC as if they were installed locally?
I have my CD collection on my PC and I'd like to be able to play music from this using my XDAIIs using Wifi.
I've managed to see the files on the PC from the XDAIIs but clicking on them will not play them. However, if I create a shortcut to the file in question, and click on it, the track will play!
Unfortunately, if I create a second shortcut in the same folder to another file on the PC, media player doesn't play it automatically. I have to click on each shortcut that I wish to play.
You can use iTunes to do this, but you have to have WM2003, because I could no longer get it to work when I upgraded to WM5.0. It is called wifitunes, and it is still in alpha testing, but don't let that scare you, because it works well for me. Here is a link:
http://www.aspecto-software.com/WiFiTunes/WiFiTunes.htm
And of course you have to have iTunes installed on your pc (free from apple).
Let me know if this works for you!
I use resco file explorer and simply map the shared drive on my desktop to my SX66. I use TCPMP and can play avi, mpeg, mp3, wav etc on my SX66 over my wifi with no problems.
Thanks,
I tried WiFiTunes but I couldn't get it to work. Putting iTunes on the PC also required me to convert the track from WMA lossless to the Apple format which I wasn't keen to do but thanks for the suggestion.
I've downloaded a trial copy of resco file explorer, it looks like a good product to have irrespective of whether it helped with this particular issue. Used with TCPMP it does exactly what I want.
The only downside is that you have to create playlists because it doesn't organise the content into album, artist and genre lists in the same way that WMP10 does.
As I have nearly 3000 tracks it's going to take me some time to create the playlists but it's something to keep me out of mischief for a while!
Thanks for your help
how do u access mp3 for the Dash.Do u need a data package
mp3 on Dash
Not sure what is your question? Are you asking how to put mp3 files on you Dash OR How to play an MP3 once it is there. Following are answers to both of these:
1. You should have a micro SD card by now on your Dash. If not, buy one and insert in provided slot. Take a 2 GB one as not sure currently how 4 GB performs on it. Then connect your phone to your computer via supplied mini USB cable. You will see phone icon in file folder list. Expand Storage Card there. You can copy mp3 files there in any folder of your choice.
2. After MP3 files are copied on your phone (or if they exist there already), you can use in built Windows Media player to play them. Simply run Windows Media player and point to mp3 files and play. You can even create playlists for frequently listened-to songs. Alternatively, you can download TCPMP software on it and use. I also recommend SRS WOW software to enrich headphone listening experience. Both TCPMP and SRS WOW can be searched in this forum. You can even set MP3s as your ringtones.
Have fun!
Cheers,
KC
Hi all,
I’ve googled my problem but cant find a solution sadly.
I am using PDAViet.net’s DVH_V25_NoBS and when I try to add my music to Windows Media Player, it finds all the tracks but then freezes at the ‘Adding files..’ part.
I’ve resetting and so on but it will never get pass that stage. Right now I always have to listen to my music via Menu > Open File.
All help is appreciated!
Thanks in advance,
Jason
i had this also. i dont know were it comes, any special mark or something but i format my card new and now it works.
Use HTC Audio manager. For me its much better. I dont use WMP for music.
delete the hidden folder on your sd card msmetadata, i think you can only do it from the phone itself
then update your library again, you may want to plug it into power and walk away for like 10mins.
i agree with using audio manager but media player can save your playlists on the card rather than the phone
thanks for the replies.
which HTC audio player are you guys using which is hassle free.
mind posting the .cab?
many thanks in advance
(BTW, where should one go to look for files like this on the forum? is it in a sticky?)

File Explorer->View Options->View All Files (or View Hidden Files).
Then delete the Storage Card->MSMETADATA directory (yes, the entire thing).
Then you can Update Library from WMP and all songs should add.
As i am listening a lot of music from phone tho damn could not find way to create my own playlist. The windows mediaplayer is hm not usto it at all.

i dont think you have to if your files are mp3 or wav or wma. just direct your music folder in s2p. as for album covers. you might need to rename them to folder.jgp
Hope i help
as for program i dont think any are going to help you unless you have a uncommon music file ext.
