More info? - P3300, MDA Compact III General

I've heard the Artemis is going to be released on O2 UK as the Orbit (like Germany). Other than that info is hard to find. There appears to be no keyboard so how do you enter text ? Is the screen touch sensitive ? Is there a stylus?
TIA, Davebo.

Yes there is a Stylus, well two supplied so you get a spare, and Yes the screen is touch sensitive with an on screen keyboard, if you want something larger use an external Bluetooth equipped keyboard with the device - Mike

Keyboard for typing with all ten fingers?

Hi,
could anybody help me?
I try to find a keyboard for 10 finger typing with MDA Compact. What I need is:
- full number of rows i.e. 5 rows incl. space because of local characters typing - not like e.g. Stowaway IR keyboard
- full 19 mm space between keys - not like e.g. Javoedge keyboard
- standard positioning of rows PC-like, for example space between "1" and "2" is approx in the middle of "Q" - not like e.g. HP ipaQ bluetooth keyboard
My ideal solution for TRGpro (Palm OS) was Targus Stowaway keyboard. For MDA compact I haven't found any... I even do not ask for foldable keyboard... Maybe a smaller, "notebook like" blutetooth keyboard.
Thank you for any help
Try the Apple Bluetooth Wireless Pro Keyboard.
ITs a bit big to carry, but its great as a keyboard and nice to type on.

Have you seen this

I also saw somewhere a gizmo that allows a full size keyboard to be used with pocket pc, dont know if that would help.

Thanks again, but for 10 finger typing without seeing you really need to be in touch with real keys.
Maybe something interesting for now
Hi, I have found "Motion's Bluetooth Mobile keyboard", see at: http://www.motioncomputing.com/products/motion_accessories.asp
They do not want to confirm that it will work with my MDA Compact, see the communication below. Could anybore more experienced here say it SHOUD work?
Thanks
-----------------
Martin,
The keyboard should ideally work with any device using bluetooth. The reality of it however is that sometimes drivers conflict, and make it difficult to pair with certain devices. Our Bluetooth Keyboard is only tested for our tablet, but many people use it with other devices. We do not however make any guarantees that it will work with any device other than our tablets.
Thank you for contacting Motion Computing

I know it might sound obvious but the O2 BT foldable keyboard is truly excellent by all accounts (a colleague has one) - decent useable size but folds up reasonably small too.
Apple BT keyboard
I use a Apple pro keyboard (USB) on my thinkpad when I´m at home - and love it!
Can anybody confirm that it works with the Magician?
No phone has USB host, so no the USB keyboard will not work.
You need a Bluetooth Keyboard at least.
I was talking about the bluetooth version of that apple keyboard (which I don`t own) I know that (at least the software) of the phone doesn`t support usb host capacity. Sorry if I didn`t make myself clear...
So, anybody ever used the keyboard with the mini?

Fuh, seems still no solution for me: I am not sure about O2 BT foldable keyboard branding, but I think this is the keyboard with the shifted upper row (see my first post)

Adjust Touchscreen Sensitivity

In WM5 there was a registry entry that determined the sensitivity of the touchscreen. I found it useful to increase the sensitivity since I use a screen protector.
Now I'm using WM6, and that registry key doesn't exist. Anybody have a clue how it can be done?

any one care to share if u know this...i find the touch sensitivity is not very good...i always have to press twice to get it right
I always thought that this was a big problem in porting the TouchFLO things to the Hermes, because the hermes doesnt have a pressure-sensitive Touch Screen?
but hell, prove me wrong

What is the tweak for WM5? Can you share it with us?
I have not heared about it before.
I also need it as I use screen protector too.
Thanks and regards
Isn't the sensitivity adjusted when you do the screen alignment in Settings -> System -> Screen according to your pressure?

if this dos not exist in the hermes registry then why is it in the hermes forum? this is more than confusing. I don't understand why people with the HTC Touch/Elf are posting there results here. maybe it came up on a search and they didn't relize this was the hermes forum? in any case MODS should move this if there is nothing relivant to the hermes.

Keyboard

I know the TP2 has a slide-out full QWERTY keyboard.
But I was wondering is it also possible to type something on the TP2 if the keyboard isn't slide out? So if it has an on-screen keyboard?
Thanks in Advance!

Thanks, been reading things here for a while, just never really had something to post about
I'm prefering the TP2's design over the TD2's design. And I rather have the dual mic and speakers than a slighty better camera.
I was just wonderin if it would have a slide out keyboard and a on-screen one.
Also, it's nice since it will finally have a big enough screen to use a finger touch keyboard with. The old 2.8 inch screens just weren't wide enough.

Yeah I think the touch pro 2 is a lot better too but the thing is that the diamond 2 has a better camera than the touch pro 2 so yeah you will actually have a worse camera if you for the touch pro 2 than if you go for the diamond 2 but the screen is bigger on the touch pro 2 so yeah that works for me.
The landscape keyboard is a big part of my buying decision, but I don't expect it to completely replace an onscreen keyboard. If I'm typing in a short web address, document name or a password, I may not bother to slide out the keyboard if the softboard is easy to launch and goes away quickly.

Exactly the reason why I wanted to know if it had an onscreen keyboard!
Or when you are in the club, and want a galls phone number

A brilliant reason for having an on-screen keyboard. I like that!
lol this is a odd thread , the touch pro 1 had an onscreen keyboard , why wouldn't number 2 lol , also , why would it be hard to type if you switch to the compact qwerty on the touch pro one lol i find it quite easy
Well, I didn't know that the TP had a Onscreen one.
And because TP2 has a newer version of TF3D it could be possible that they left it out. I didn't know, that's why I asked.
Plus, the TP1 had a FM-radio, and the TP2 doesn't..
So the TP2 isn't just the TP1 with a better keyboard and biggerscreen.. They added things, and left things out!
according to the htc website, the tp2 does have fm radio.
not sure about the keyboard.
as for the cam, if you really want to take pics when you out and about take a digi cam out with you, there are some very decent small ones available now, try olympus or casio range.
Indeed, it says it has a FM-radio. Don't know why all people are saying it hasn't got a FM-radio.
The touchpro2 will have a onscreen keyboard.
For reference, look at on of the video's on this site. There you will see the keyboard. Nice fingerfriendly one

On Screen Keyboards

Hi there,
I'm usually in the Blackstone or Rhodium forums and have a mate who has the Xperia X1 and asked me about the on screen keyboards.
Looking at this phone, he only has the normal on screen keyboard which needs the stylus to be used, is there anyone out there that has the "Full QWERTY" and "Phone Keypad" Keyboards as a cab to install?
Thanks
search for FINGER KEYBOARD 2.1 or something like that. it's much better than the se kb.

Are u serious?
what's the point of a software keyboard when u have a hardware one?
imho, the best solution even is to install nullkeyboard to stop the annoying software keyboard from popping up.
Try SPB Keyboard. Its great
Hi, Although u have the slider keyboard already, but for obvious reasons one may need a software keyboard too. Try SPB Keyboard (just google it and u get the links). It also gives u lot many plugins to shoose from various layouts/options of keyboard.

Although hardware keyboards are great, you need two hands to use them. When you want to send a quick message or send something quick on Twitter etc, one hand is prefered, hence the Software Keyboard is needed.

I used the Touch IT Blackstone keyboard set which includes a handy keypad, simulating a normal phone pad. I mostly use it for one-handed sms.
The filename is Touch-IT Blackstone Keyboard.cab or something, so a search would probably yield results.

still eager for someone to fix this issue...
what about the issue that older EzInput keyboards had with the predictive text on the X1i?
I remember when i installed 1.5 it would no longer pre-populate names as i was typing in the To: section for a text message
dont really care about t9 or predictive text...
i just want to type and use the fn key to properly output numbers rather than using sym all the time >.<

[Q] Bluetooth Keyboard/Mouse

Hi,
Has anyone used a bluetooth keyboard/mouse with the SGS2?
If so, what was your experience and which devices did you use?
It would be nice to have a list of devices that are AVAILABLE and play nice with the SGS2 so we don't all end up buying 5 keyboards trying to find a decent one.
This is obviously a precursor to the MHL cable dropping and being able to navigate the device over MHL Mirroring.
Cheers!
Check the end of my video here, BT keyboard and mouse working fine:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=giJXF5pIITc
The keyboard I'm using is the iGo Stowaway Ultraslim Keyboard, sadly not made any more. Nearly any BT HID Profile device should work with the SGSII.
For starters I would guess that all the ones in this -
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=799079&highlight=bluetooth+keyboard+mouse
- thread for the SGSI will work fine.
Ah cool cheers, i do remember you saying that your keyboard was no longer available sadly.

anyone can check if it work? or advise similar mini keyboards which would work on our device..
I have the same question... did a bit of research and found the following:
Foldable freecom model, 54 quids. Reviews indicate it's decent, has a little tray to hold the phone but it's also 'cheaply built':
http://www.amazon.co.uk/Freedom-BTF...1_6?s=computers&ie=UTF8&qid=1306668294&sr=1-6
The official Apple wireless keyboard. Great build, but not foldable. 50 quids
http://www.amazon.co.uk/Apple-MC184B-A-Wireless-Keyboard/dp/B002TUSWU4/ref=cm_cr_pr_product_top
A clone of the above, 22 quids.
http://www.amazon.co.uk/Bluetooth-W...1_3?s=computers&ie=UTF8&qid=1306669505&sr=1-3
I'm not seeing any 'great' options here... can someone suggest anything else?
I have this keyboard:
http://www.amazon.co.uk/Freedom-Pro...IWJ6/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1306675360&sr=1-1
It works fine, save for the buttons that are specific to certain OS. It's not my favorite keyboard, tho.
I just purchased this one:
http://cgi.ebay.com/Folding-Bluetoo...66?pt=PCA_Mice_Trackballs&hash=item53e6f9a18a
I have one from about 10 years ago that was made for a Handspring PDA and it was hands-down the best portable keyboard I've ever used, so I'm hoping this one will be just as good. I also have a Jorno keyboard on order, but there's no ETA on its release yet.
I've also used a Bluetooth mouse with the phone, and it also works fine. Mine's the Razer Orochi.
Logitech dinovo mini works well...
(only complaint is that the keyboard layout is scandinavian/swedish) and the phone gets the default english letters. Probably just have to change key mapping but have not gotten around to that yet)

I have a German version of this keyboard.
Same with me.
My keyboard finally arrived, and it's pretty good. Seems it may have a defect (it's typing some double letters on some keys, R and Space especially), but other than that, it's pretty much an exact replica of the one I used to have, and it feels great. I highly recommend it.

Hello!
I tested a Nokia SU-8W bluetooth keyboard, it comes with a Nokia N8.
Works well, no pairing issues, very clean to do it .
I don't know how to do with the keyboard the same actions as "option" or "home" buttons . At least, Esc key works as back button.
I miss to have a bluetooth mouse at the same time... is a needed partner for this keyboard.

Fn+left arrow: Home
Fn+right arrow: Sleep
Fn+1: Option/menu
Fn+(hold) left arrow: Recent
Fn+(tap x2) left arrow: Voice Talk
Been playing with other combinations, but those are all the ones I've been able to find so far.

Actually, I am interested in remapping keys. I have a Palm 3245WW bluetooth keyboard and I sometimes have to write in Greek, which involves using some accents (for intonation). The on-screen keyboard will give me these accents if I long press on the keys of the stock Greek layout, but I haven't figured out how to do this with the bluetooth keyboard. Any help would be appreciated.
