hi everyone,
I do have an issue with a SD Card of 4GB size.
Whenever I use it, my device sometimes stalls.
it does stop during video playback (tcpmp) or navigation (TomTom). After I removed the card it continues where it got stuck (even if I reenter card) but it might stop soon again.
Transcend 4GB x150 SD Card on
Qtek 9000 (unbranded) & MS WinMobile 5.0
5.1.195 (Build 12847.2.0.0)

ROM-Datum 03/01/06
Radio-Version 1.09.00
Prot.V. 42.42.P8
ExtROM 1.30.185 GER
Falls ich ein Update fürs ROM brauche, bitte unbedingt angeben, wo ich dies bekommen kann. Danke!!
Have u tried this kind of a problem with some other memory card , hence may the problem is with ur memory card .Have a check on it .

xanadu, do you mean JWright's 1.90.96 ROM can use the 4GB SD Card without problems from the CAMERA application? Can the camera application store the pictures directly to the 4GB SD Card without any problems?
I don't have a 4GB card to try it with. I wanted to buy one though, thus my question.

I have only 2 GB SD last week recognised only 1 GB on my qtek9000 and on my compaq nc6120, usually both can read to 4 GB
Now it works again on 2 GB but I'v reformatted it with http://www.sdcard.org/downloads/sdfv2000.exe
My friend has a 4 GB SD, it works no more in Universal, after formatting got 3,2 GB, but works only in pc sd-reader and camera. This 4 Gb SD-card worked perfectly in this mda-pro before with Jwrightmcps 1.90.96 rom, but now we tested with 2 qtek9000 and mda-pro, neither can recognise it.
I'll ask him how was with camera applications on sd 4 GB, my 2 GB sd works fine in qtek9000 as well worked before six months in sx66 (qtek9090)
Nowadays for 60 EUR possible to buy a 4 GB SD, but the experiences are not conclusive.
PS. 4 gb sd works fine with Universal till don't insert it into printer (by .dredd)
into digital camera (by me) they reformat it sometimes and are unreadable or less memory.
Hi all, sorry for whats gonna be a very vauge post, I have read of this problem, and of a fix, I'll try and dig it out and post a link, basically, as far as I understand it, the xda universal has problem storing pics / vids taken on the camera onto sd card, I've read that if there's 2 gig + in the pics folder that it works, but thatsnot a very good fix, and not the one I've read of.
I'll try and find it and post back

Thanks for the response.
There was a post awhile ago which suggested that the MDA Pro cannot read more than 2gb. If you were to store more than 2gb of files/stuff onto the memory card, then the camera will not have a problem accessing the memorycard.
Give it a try and let us know.
Thanks.
thanks all so far for the answers!
Well, I did never put the sd card in any printer, just an SD Card reader.
It can read & write up to 4GB onto it & I can somehow read (access) it on the MDA, but nonetheless it stalls sometimes - especially during video playback that is REALLY annoying - it stalls - I remove the card, immediately the playback continues (for brief seconds - guess till storage is empty) then it stops, till I reinsert the card in the QTek9000. Then the same repeats, it continues till it stalls again, sometimes 40seconds later, sometimes 3-5 minutes.

IMHO jj is capable of reading or writing 4gb card infact many of us r already using it.
I read on the site of Sandisc a while ago of the new standard for SD cards SDHC(SD High Capaicty standard), and Sandisc warns about manufacturers who build 4 gb sd cards on the SD technology. Sandisc says that the SD technology supports up to 2 gb. And that 4 GB cards manufactured on this technology may encounter problems, . The SDHC technology is for 4GB up to 32 GB. Sandisc adviced when buying a 4gb or bigger capacity to look for the SDHC logo in the package to ensure stability and no data loss.
for more detailed info go to
http://www.sandisk.com
and search for SDHC the first link you find will explain the difference and problems that may occur.
I think that the PDA's don't have a problem the read and write to these devices, but that the problem can be the card it self.

Unfortunately Universal can't recognise SDHC cards, therefor Sandisc's advice is useless.

are you sure about that? or did you look at the compatibility list on de sandisk website?
That information can be inaccurate, it says to: "Please check with your device manufacturer for details. ".
Sandisk advice is not entirely useless, it points out that the problem can be the SD card also( due the limitation of the FAT16), because the FAT16 of the SD technology does not support a capacity bigger than 2GB.
But if the problem is the Device, then I'm very disappointed with my qtek9000.. Maybe a driver update can solve the problem. because i have a casio exilim sz600 and casio released an update for the camera, I flashed the update and the camera is SDHC compatible..didn't test it yet, must by a sdhc compliant card.

Goodmorning,
Does the HTC P3300 support SDHC (Secure Digital High Capacity) cards? I would like to buy a larger microSD card and since a complete Europe navigation map is almost 2GB, it would be fine when 4GB is possible so I have some space available for other programs, MP3 and video files.
...or maybe WM6 will have this compatibility? (Hopefully HTC will release WM6 for the P3300).
Thanks in advance.
Regards,
Roger
Your best bet is to contact HTC directly and ask them if it will be supported & also if they intend to release a WM6 rom which would be downloadable from their website for the people who have bought their phones online.

I've asked HTC several question (webform on www.htc.com) but I don't get a reaction at all. They have great hardware/products, but I'm not satisfied with their support. It is hard to find the official ROMs and they don't answer e-mails. Maybe I they need a longer period for replying...
Regards,
Roger
SDHC support is very likely to come along with WM6 ROM.
I say that basing on Trinity expirience. HTC also has not anywhere stated support of mini SDHC cards in Trinity, but now it is capable to work with them. SDHC Drivers for Trinity came along with WM6, and now people can enjoy them using Trinity with customized WM6 firmware made by lvsw and mun.
Let's wait a bit, time will show.
Have any of you tried with the WM6 roms currently out there if this works? i have the same "problem" as rogervdh and am curious if it works!
see my thread about this subject here
Yes it does
I have an orange M700 running AXL wm6 with an 8gig SDHC sandisk micro SD card in a sandisk micro to mini adapter and no problems at all. let this be the end of it
only the cooked ROMs which have had SDHC support added work. a standard WM6 ROM does not support SDHC.
.cab files are availible if you have a WM6 ROM and want to add the SDHC support, but it does involve a hard reset, so you might as well use a cooked ROM

Updated on 20-Oct-2008.
Answer is yes, HTC P3300 will be able to support 4GB SDHC card with additional Driver installed in WM5 or WM6.
I have just found a site that provide Steps by Steps guide for this,

Remember to bookmark that page, you will need to do it everytime you hard reset your HTC P3300.

Nice kick, but a simple search for "artemis sdhc cab" will give you a very simple way to use sdhc cards. You might have to use a non-sdhc card or activesync to transfer and install the driver to/on your Artemis, but then you can use sdhc cards......

µSDHC 16GB working too
Both working with sdhc patch for Artemis. (I'm currently running the last aje_fr beta, wich include this patch)

µSDHC 8Go fonctionne
µSDHC 16Go fonctionne aussi
Les deux fonctionnent avec le patch sdhc pour Artemis. (J'utilise en ce moment la derniere beta d'aje_fr, qui inclue ce patch)

Hi,
has anyone ever tried to insert an SDHC (High Capacity) memory card in his/her Prophet?
Will the OS (WM5 or WM6) recognise this medium or will there ever be drivers for this type of sd?
Doesnt work ... use search function ... possible some on make a driver or not ... nobody knows more!
You mean There is No Driver For Prophet ??
I download x500 Driver, But it Dosent Work
SDHC is anything over 2GB right? I have a 4GB SD running in mine.
The card doesn't specifically say it is SDHC, but it is certainly 4GB. OCZ is the brand of the card.
I'm using a non-SDHC 4Gb card and it works fine. I don't think you can get higher capacity than 4gb without going to SDHC but I've not heard of a working Prophet driver for it.
4gb
4gb is the cut-off point. You can have sdhc 4gb cards, or non-sdhc 4gb SD cards. I have a 4gb(at least 133mhz) one from the company 'CnMemory' which works great.

Not the driver is the problem. I think the hardware is not reading those SDHC. I've also tryied. I've buyed an SDHC 8 Gb but i only use like a portable memory because i cannot use inside my Qtek S200
I read MSDN and i found that we need to recompile or patch the sdbus.dll and sdmemory.dll
But may be HTC also modified a SD Host Controller for understanding only SD 1.1
In this case we should modify the Host controller driver.
P.S.
The SDHCdrivers from Artemis and x500 - dont work on s200
The only last thing I want for my Neo after getting the Big Storage ROM is the SDHC compatibility, after that my Neo is the pefect working PPC Phone!

As I understood, the controller function is on the TI chip itself in Prophet.
This should mean that HTC cannot have altered it.
(there are SDHC compliant phones which use the same OMAP)
Wouldn't it be possible to find a patch the same way as the Artemis people (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=332445) hve done it from a machine with the same chip ?
there is an sdhc driver for eten x500 throughout the net. i tried it on my prophet. but it disables wifi functionality. moreover, i could not test it since i didn't have any sdhc card at hand.

The hardware doesn't support it... It's possible to use certain drivers that allow 4GB cards to be used as they don't need the double length address bit that SDHC uses, but any more and you need different hardware.

hi to everybody.could someone suggest me a rom where you work is the video called and is the support to the cards sdhc from 8 gb?
it serves me a rom that the video does called and that the sdhc accepts from 8 gb.also wm5
if you use WM6.1 you have fully functional SDHC no videocall. If you use WM6 later versions then you have the same with a SDHC.cab. Early
WM6 = 4GB Max with SDHC no Videocall.
WM5 4GB Max unpatched SDHC. Card can shut down so needs to be reinseted if it does. Videocall works.
Using patched SDHC on WM5 Means full SDHC support but no wifi and broken GPRS.
Sorry. What you ask for is simply unavailable.

Hey, PsiDOC.
What about this one by Laurentius? http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=325466
This fw is supposed to have VC in it. What's your thoughts on it?
That's about the closest to VC you will get on WM6 at this time. VC out only no incoming.
Patched SDHC.cab should work for larger than 4GB but you may lose WIFI.

look, if it works in the HTC universal or qtek 9000 or dopod900 and o2 exec it must work in the SPV M5000 too, it's all the same device, only A different publisher.
if you have a SDHC card you will need a patch for it, (not hard to find on the forum) or maybe it is already integrated in your ROM

by definition an 8GB card must be SDHC. SD is only 1GB (maybe 4GB dependant on device).
My SPVM5000 has 8GB working fine.
The hardware (your phone) is capable of this. (Aparently 16GB SDHC is also fine)
The software/firmware (your ROM) may/maynot.
My suggestion:
If you need 8GB card, then buy one. If it doesn't work, then upgrade your ROM (you will get much help in wiki, and with people on xda!).

Problem with SDHC 16GB
Hi,
i have special problem. I bought about a year ago 16GB SDHC A-Data. In my uni works fine without any problems. last week i didnt found her in explorer so i thought if i will HR my uni everything will be fine. But the situation is that..
in my PC SD card works fine, another 8GB SDHC in my uni works ok. So i tried format my SDHC 16GB to fat32 and free put into uni and nothing happen. also standard SD 4GB works in uni fine too...
Does anybody have an idea what can be with my SDHC 16GB ? in settings of SDHC i have Type II. And after reset i cant see SDHC. But another 8GB SDHC from my college yes ...
Thnx for an idea ...
