I'm looking to know if the Jabra BT800 is compatible with the Qtek 9000, anyone can help me?
Sorry about the delay, only just noticed this question, yes, the BT800 works with the Universal / XDA Exec / Qtek 9000 I use one myself.
Hi,
I can also confirm the Jabra works fine.

Just the number! MS BT stack doesn't implement this interesting feature.
However you can use the SW on this link http://www.jetwaremobile.com/index.htm from JETware Mobile
Evidence! I saw letters on my JABRA BT800 today!!!

Hi All!!!!
Yes, I saw letters on my JABRA's display after about one year of using this piece of almost useless crap! I have installed the latest version from jetwaremobile.com and it finally works. Previos versions just didn't worked!
(I wouldn't like to describe all issues and low quality if BT800, I just use it in a car to answer urgent calls.)
BUT!
1. If the name in the contact calling you - is not in English - you will see nothing on the LCD Screen;
2. It takes ages the name to appear on the screen (5 rings or more) even if I called few times;
3. It uses Jabra's internal memory to store the contacts. So, if you have 1000+ contacts (like I do), there is no chance to use this feature. (But, you stil can create a separate Category for the hot contacts, and setup jetwaremobile's software discussed here to load only these numbers).
So, All, train your memory and remember all your 1000+ phone numbers yourself
In my case names are displayed quite fast. But I've just a few hundreds of contacts... if it makes the difference.
Also managed to have previous versions working (v1 and v1.11. OK also for 1.20 Beta)
I guess your problem with non English names, means non occidental characters!? Because it is OK with mine and they are not English.
To avoid some potential problems I've ticked in 'Advance options', just what I'm interested in, 'Caller ID'
My only frustration is that I wish large names to scroll, otherwise many contacts seems to be the same...
@dima_the_chief
how can you browse contacts from bt800. I only know about last ten calls are stored in headset.
As for delay this is true but only sometime when devices loose conectivity, usualy works fine for me with xda2 wm2005.

As far as I understood dima, didn't say that.
In fact BT800 doesn't allow to browse contacts stored on device!
then what to understood with:
3. It uses Jabra's internal memory to store the contacts. So, if you have 1000+ contacts (like I do), there is no chance to use this feature. (But, you stil can create a separate Category for the hot contacts, and setup jetwaremobile's software discussed here to load only these numbers).

It means BT800 uses internal memory to keep lookup tables, that would allow to correlate an incoming number, with the correspondent name.
Doesn't mean you can browse the contacts list, from the headset, what in fact you can't.
Most probably it is technically close to be possible, bu it isn't in the feature list or at least implemented so.

No! i CAN NOT BROWSE THE CONTACTS with my crappy-****ty BT800.
But, I can review last 10 incoming calls. I can see names instead of numbers.
There is a compatibility sheet on http://jetwaremobile.com/bthfx/support.htm .
It says that BT 800 only can do a Voice dial, In-band ringtones and the Caller Id.

Why dont you think, BT800 loads the name for the incoming call on demand? That could explain the delay for the Caller Name display on incoming call.

HI All, gabiz_ro!
Sorry for bullshitting you, but my latest investigations shows, that, even the jetwaremobile's SW will try to send all off my 1000+ contacts to the BT800 it wount accept them.
My proposition about storing all the contacts in internal memory of the BT 800 - is wrong.
But, other BT headsets still can do that! And those devices can browse the phonebook. Like Parrot 3200 LS doest. But, it has a limitation of contacts to load. In this case you have to create a Hot Contacts cathegory in your contacts.
Hope this post gave clearance on the subject.

warn the newbies -- DONT purchase JABRA BT 800
Hi All!
With this post I would like to warn the newbies against purchasing the JABRA BT 800.
Guys!!!!!!!! Spend some time and find another product!
More reliable, stable and usefull!!! You will NOT meet your challenge with purchasing this useless crap!
After using for about a year of BT 800, I have finally got it bricked.
I would not like to discribe here my unseccessful experience of using it for a year, will only descirbe the technological issues in the product.
The main buttons stopped responding to my presses. As the warranty is almost not working in my place, I tryed to repair the device myself.
The reason was - the tailanted chaineese engineer's solution to use the small ****ty piece of the plastic as a spring for the buttons. Of course after the year of rare using, this plastic part was broken, preventing the microswitch to be pushed.
Had to change the button's design and introduce the spiral spring to make it working again.
Sorry for the technical details, ALL, just do not buy BT 800 not to be concerned to the subject.
Yes, I am a strong man, and have weight down the buttons, especially when JABRA do not respond to my pressings during the incoming calls (How many of them I lost thanks to BT 800!!!!!).
How will I live further? Will buy an expencive but more reliable kar kit to use in a car and will continue using just a plain Uni for regular calls.

JetWare Works on MDA but...

Just not possible. It is the normal behaviour JetWare implemented, just like that.
See their answer I received this week about the same question, bellow.
"The behavior you observe, of the ring going only to the headset when “Use phone ringtones” is checked, is expected behavior."
Does anyone have the tekkeon ez 3000 with the Jetware app using the Universal? Any comments?

Hi
Quite a while ago i had software on my Symbian OS Nokia that worked as an answer machine. It was great. I have had no luck finding one for the Pocket PC. Has anyone seen one about.
Some key advantages included:
No cost for reteiving messages from the network
Quick access to messages
Multiple answer recording depending on caller and situation ie friend calls answer 'hi man in a meeting leave a message' vs business caller 'Sorry i am in a meeting at moment...'
I have found a couple that uses sms to reply but none that actually record the voice.
Any ideas?

Im sorry, I might not have explained my self. I'm after software that will do voicemail. I want to take a voice recorded message from the caller rather than have it diverted to my network voicemail.
I like the sms idea though and I'm sure the 2 applications could be integrated etc.
Hi
I have been doing a lot of investigation into this subject as i think its a neat idea. I know it has been asked many many many times before in this forum as i have dredged deep into the archives so I'm just wanting to share some info as to what i have found and find out if there have been any new developments since the last relivant posts a few months ago.
I have found this software i used to use called smartanswer for a symbian nokia
http://www.symbianware.com/product.php?id=sanswer60&pl=n6600
So i know it is possible on a similar system but different OS. I haven't managed to found any real reason for it not being able to be done on a pocket pc yet although I'm sure there is a reason or else it would have been created several times over already.
Anyway its just my small blabber wasting time in my lunch break.
phatbloke:
I've been asked about this numerous times, and you say that you've found no good reason why it's not happened yet:
Basically, as I understand it, and I know next to nothing about this area, but basically, the Phone PocketPC is just a pocketpc with an entirely seperate piece of hardware for the phone. The two are independant.
Inorder to control the "phone", the pocketpc comunicates with it through a COM port, sending commands to start calls, data connections etc. However, as I understand it, we have no direct means to access the audio/in out. So, although this is bog standard on many intelligent phones, the pocketpc was never designed around phone hardware, but merely slapped on piggyback.
Being able to record the calls is obviously essential to the answering machine. Some of the clever boys on this site have said that this is impossible or unlikely until we reverse engineer the drivers, and this hasn't happened yet AFAIK. Again, if this is all ball-ocks then someone please correct.
I can monitor missed calls, hangup incoming calls, log all that and so on, but spooling audio in and playing something down the line evades us for now.
Look here towards the end for discussion and futile ideas I had:

and here if you're Italian:

PS if you follow the first thread, someone mentioned that Resco Sound recorder can record both in and outgoing audio on calls. Can you try that software? If that works, it might be possible. But I've seen no verification and don't have the opportunity to check it myself.
Hi all,
I am understanding; Microsoft don't publish some "sensitive" APIs like recording audio from downlink, etc. ..... I am Symbian Software Engineer; That is everyday life for me.
So, while using Symbian, you have the possibility to make requests to Symbian or Nokia for getting access to their internal API. We do that several times... perhaps for muting microphone, GSM trace information, etc. Exists there a business case to get access to Microsofts internal API?
A contact will be very helpfully!
Thanks a lot!

Lets just say you want an Answering Machine on PPC.
It would be a novel and successful one, if there were ever any made. AFAIK, it is yet not possible on HTCish handhelds....
The one thing I tried involves you picking up the call, then it records the conversation, and more clearly if in speakerphone mode (a pain innit?). That is called Live PVR, in case you want to google it and wake up the genius within....
We will be waiting, if you find/make it first

So there is a fundamental hardware problem where software cannot access hardware. It occurred to me that all sounds can be fed to the bluetooth stack so maybe it could be captured from there.
Ok show of hands who would like an Answer machine for HTCish PPCs bit like the visual voicemail on dare I say it the iphoney
Such a SW is existing in Symbian60. I had this back in the dark times on my Nokia 6680.
This SW is answering the call automatically, playing the announcement which was recorded before and then recording the meaasge as mp2 (or wav). storage media can be the telephone itself or a memory card.
In WM6, i didn't find it yet, maybe really not existing.
BTW, the Siemens S40 had such a function integrated as well (no Symbian, no WM, ...).
cheers,

My Hermes has never fully integrated with my Ford Focus BT Handsfree kit. Although I could always make and receive calls, it rarely read the Contacts on my Hermes and, when I scrolled to the Contacts on the car hifi, it would say Phonebook Not Available. On those occasions when it would read the Contacts, when I had an incoming call, it would indicate the number of the caller, but not the name. Once the call was answered, it would sometimes deign to show me the name.
The break through came when I flashed the PDACornerProV17 ROM. This must have a new BT utility. As soon as I had paired my Hermes, I got a pop up on the phone saying "Ford Audio wants access to your contacts. Do you accept this? Y/N". I have never had this before and, as soon as I tapped Yes, my contacts appeared on the car hifi. Now, when i receive an incoming call, I can see the name before I answer it, not after! Additionally, the car kit keeps a log of incoming and outgoing calls, another first.
So, if any of you have a Ford BT kit, and haven't got it to work properly, flash the PDA Corner ROM.
thanks for your report and recomendation also.
glad to know this info
thanks and regards...

I mean the built-in bluetooth kit, found in all recent UK Ford cars. It is a factory-fitted addition to the normal car audio, giving hands free phone functions and limited voice commands.

Sorry, don't know the answer to that. But, if this is a new tool introduced into ROMs, this might explain why I got the message 'Ford Audio is trying to access your phonebook', and why the Hermes contact list is much more accessible through the car hifi.
from what i remember theres these other bluetooth modes, one for sms one for phone book and one other one referred to as profiles
the new roms must have this enabled but not full functionality of new email and sms from the phone i remember a friend saying something about 6.1 has this enabled where as before people needed an app to do it with the first 6 releases?? can someone confirm if this is correct ?
Hi,
When I'm in my car and have my bluetooth headset on connected to my Touch HD, I would love an an application to detect that I have my headset on, and to automatically read allowed any new text messages or emails after, say, a delay of 10 seconds.
Does anyone know of any software that could do this?
Thanks!

You can also set MSVC to only read messages over bluetooth/wired headset.
Great - this looks great. However if I look at the latest version (1.6) I see a number of comments in various places about it not working properly on the HTC Touch range of phones. For example see the comments at the bottom of the Hangago page here...

I have v1.6.1971 working on my Xperia (similar interface to Touch HD). I used spb pocket plus to add it to a "long button push".
You need to set it up in |START|SETTINGS|PERSONAL|VOICE COMMAND| and map a button to |START|PROGRAMS|ACCESSORIES|VOICE COMMAND|.
You'll also need to soft reset after installing and play around a little with the settings (i.e. uncheck "High Priority Messages only" in the messaging options etc.).
Can you download a trial to test it first?
The only problem I have is that it does not announce the caller for incoming calls. I assume because this does not work on the xperia that it will not work on other HTC devices too.

I am using version 1.6.19209 with stock Orange rom, works great via speaker or bluetooth
Great - thank you! I'll have a go and report back.
OK so the update. I have successfully installed in (with a little help from the post over here), and have tested it with the basic functions, and it works OK. Not perfect with names, but for the basic things it works fine.
However, one of the main reasons, as you know, that I wanted this is so that it 1) works with my bluetooth hands free (a Plantronics Voyager 520) and reads out emails/texts over the bluetooth hands free when I'm wearing it. There is a setting in SETTINGS>VOICE COMMAND, where you can select "notifications" and select whether it notifies using "bluetooth hands free only", "over speaker if bluetooth is not available" or finally "only over speaker". However the notifications do not seem to be working at all - when I receive a text message, the phone makes the text message tone, it vibrates and nothing happens.
Am I doing something wrong?
[EDIT]:
I've just worked out the settings dialogue a bit more (i.e. you can select on each of the category of item and then press options)... Email is in there, but text messages do not seem to be in the list? Am I therefore to believe that text messages cannot be read out?

Mine reads out the header from an email and all of the text message. Both come under messaging in the tick boxes.Click on Messaging and under options tick Anounce new messages Under Notifications I have ticked "Announce notifications using bluetooth hands free if available.
Works fie for me on speaker, music headset and bluetoth
Try under Messaging>Options - delselecting 'High priority messages only'
And under Messaging>Notifications - deselecting 'Only during free time'
This worked for me.

Just to let you know, im using miri 6.5 v10 and voicecomand stopped any calls and messages being heard or felt. Same happened with davidueck 6.5 v8 so im guessing some roms dont work with it
For the guys that have it working, what roms are you running?
OK so the advice I've followed on this forum means I can now hear it announce text messages and emails and read them out! Great! And what is even more impressive is that it now works over my bluetooth headset too!
The ONLY thing that therefore doesn't work is the bluetooth headset being able to be used to speak commands to the phone. I was hoping that the button on my bluetooth headset that is usually used to answer or end calls would initiate MVC and allow me to control my phone from my headset. Any ideas why this wouldn't work?
Thanks
EDIT - ITS FIXED! Weird's I soft reset the phone and then held down the button my headset for a little bit longer and no its working fine! Brilliant.

About incoming call announce question from a previous poster:
I've heard reports that with some newer roms the announce for incoming call doesn't work properly when MSVC is installed with a cab. The ROM cook has to hack in a fix...I don't think there is a cab to fix this problem.

This video from clove should help.
I don't think you can see phone book. You should be able to see SMS message, Emails and GMails (however not whole message) after installing Messaging, Gmail and Email application. Also, as far as I can see, you can enable reading for individual applications using Text to speech option of Smart Wireless Headset Pro app.
Please let us now if notifications work properly (seems like email app works only on Sony phones). Also check if you can see songs name when you run stock player and then try some 3rd party players like PowerAmp.
Anyone can make a video not the video from Sony but actual user video
Sent from my GT-N7000 using Tapatalk 2
you cant download the email apk from market, I found it from google , load it but it doesnt work..sms app is working , now I can read the incoming sms
I cant see the song names etc. it says "unknown" ( I'm using apollo player -parandroid rom-
I got this headset for daily phone usage , but the stereo earings wire is too long when you attach the clip to your shirt.
I couldnt find any mono earings with short wire so I cut the original one, reattach and now its a mono earing with 20 cm wire

New version of Poweramp (2.0.6-build-508) currently available only on web site supports titles for BT devices which probably also means it will show song titles on MW1.
This is great news since PowerAmp is one of the best players out there.
yesterday when I connect to market it said there is an update for limewire manager, so I updated it ,
after that it says there is an update for sony smart headset ,and I updated it also (the headset get the updates from the phone via bluetooth, loads and reboots itself, cool )
but now it sometimes disconnects with the phone
( the bluetooth indicator at the phone turns grey as if there is no connected devices)

This is significant upgrade comparing to MW600. Fore example you can also use it as stand alone mp3 player. On top of that functions of this device are extendable. For now you have call log (this is also something you don have on MW600) and that small app that allow you to find your phone, but in the future it can have more useful applications.
Whether it's worth the price is up to you but currently it offers much more than any other bluetooth headset on the market.
the most important function is showing name of the caller. (but I think a developer could make an app for this function for mw600)
- earbud cord must be shorter.(like samsung hm1500)
- screen could be bigger
- needs apps to support device: voice control (call x , open music , navigate to ....) , voice dictation (write sms ; dear xda..) , email reader ( 1 new mail , from... )
- while talking to somebody if an other person calls you , you hear a beep.......beep..... warning but it is so loud, that you cant hear the people talking to you

I start to think that I'm the only buyer of this product
Is the battery any bigger? I am about to pull the trigger anyways because I love the idea of offloading my music onto a separate microSD.
