Currently, the way I change my PPC profile is by pressing the side volume button, and then tapping on vibrate. That will cause the phone to be in silent mode. I believe many of us do the same?
The problem is, I find it a hassle to press on the button and then tap. It's just too many steps. Is there any app than when tapped on, toggles the volume ON/Vibrate?
Or anyone with vb.net experience can help me on creating such an app? thanks!
An app was recently posted on this board to do this. Can't remember the name. Try searching in development and hacking.

Yep, think that's the one.
I've written one in the new version of VJVolublis, but it's not released yet.

My best suggestion is use the "search" button in the forum. This topic has been talked about many times and it will not be able to find the information that you need.
throw it against the wall and buy a new one. or use the search button. one costs less.
or you could whilst the device is powered off hold down your left and right soft buttons, then switch the handset on, all the while still holding those two buttons down, you should see a black screen with some white writing - if you don't you have done it wrong
or you can do that...

you can read the sticky's and learn how. you can also get the file you need from one of the sticky's.
in case you arent sure what a sticky is, since i see you have 1 post and might be new to this, they are the threads that say "Sticky" on them, right below the "new thread" button that you hit to post this. when you get to that button, just keep scrolling and start reading.

So after having my new Tilt 2 for a couple of days I was cleaning out my inbox and I realized that because there is no d-pad I cannot select an e-mail without opening it, unless I have the keyboard out and use the arrows
This means that if I want to delete an e-mail that is not at the top of the list I need to press once to open, once to open menu and again to delete. Does not seem right.
I think I saw something that allowed the zoom slider to be used as a dpad of sorts but I actually like it the way it is.
I feel really stupid asking this and I did search but could not easily find an asnwer.
click on the small letter, you will see the menu that will allow use to manage the mail without seeing it.

Here's one hard-key solution that re-maps the volume keys on the side of the phone:
VolDpad

That's a great tip! I never realized that! You should put that in the wiki!
Thanks
Thanks to both vigohz and MCBrian!
You can also press and hold the message in the list you wish to do something with and you will get the same list of actions as if you tapped on the small letter.

You seem to be lost...you have a Kaiser, not a Rhodium.
You should be posting in one of the Kaiser sub-forums.

Wow, I did not know either of these two tips, I had been opening the onscreen keypad and using the arrow keys to move down to the message. Thanks to both of you!
Is it possible to remap the search button so that it hangs-up while you are in a call? I find it extremely frustrating, especially when driving, to have to look at my phone to press the vurtual "hang-up" button on the screen - oh how I miss my Touch HD
I have read about physical key remap here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=683902&highlight=remap but there is no indication that what I am looking for is possible.
What would it take to make such a hack? Would it be possible with an app or does it take a custom ROM to do the trick? Does the phone need to be rooted?
Thanx all!
very interested too
Does anyone have an answer on this? Do you think it is impossible?

Don't be impatient. Just wait for the right person to stumble across this and give you the answer.
Sent from my HTC Desire
wow i guess i have to look further but i am looking for the same thing for the mytouch4g. if anyone has a fix please pm me! thanks!
With CM you can end or answer calls pressing the trackball, so its possible to remap keys. It's really usefull sometimes when you call anyone by mistake and display turns off while trying to hang up
there is a app in the market called key mapper or something similar that does this and for 64p its not bad.
also you edit the rom de-compile it edit etc = hard work lol
you can definetly remap keys but you need to be rooted otherwise you cannot.
i would like to answer using a hard key.
has any solution been found?
I just found this: http://www.addictivetips.com/mobile/remap-reassign-your-android-devices-keys-with-buttonremapper/
Will try it out and let you know
Thanks. It works
I think it`s very useful to show other stuff instead of recent apps only. I can adjust brightness and sound volumn on an ipad. any suggested apps for customizing the home key behaviour?
Install a decent launcher like LauncherPro then you can have it open whatever you want.
Not long-press, it's a core OS function.
@theOP: you may not be able to change the function of a long-press like iOS but, unlike iOS, you can change the function of a short-press, so it kinda evens out.
google should have open it to other apps for replacing or adding new stuff, just like the home screen....
Hi,
I dont like opening older posts, but better than post another new one...
So I undestood, that a home long-press is not possible to redirect as another button (e.g. Search) or to execute some bash scripts?
I am still looking for some task switcher on hw button dependend and with posibility to call it from everywhere (all tas managers using search button, which is not present on X10i). Currently I am using PreHome with home doubleclick, but it is not so good as long press could be...
Or - one question - is it possible to redirect long press on Back button? I Know, that on Camera is this possible...

I think what XperienceD want to say, he like the idea of opening old threads instead of opening new threads...If everyone did that we would not have 500 thousand "my battery is at 0%" threads.
Hi I`d like to reopen this topis
Tomorow I found, that Cyanogenmod ROM`s are able to do this natively!
Anyone using any of these ROM?
I am trying to find out what is this button menu related to migrate this function
Hi, I've just found a pretty mockup of Windows 10 Mobile here and wanted to ask you whether it would be possible to tweak the system in the way that it lights up the menu buttons when there's a notification pending? How do you think?
+1 would love this feature!
For Android this is possibile, if you can install APKs you can try this https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.ledblinker or http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1958939 however the developer can try to develope something like this.
For samsung's phone there is an app called BLN, it's a great app I used it on my Samsung rooted phone and use the buttons light like a led but, if I don't mistake, it required something to add on the kernel.
finger cross someone make it happen
Yes please
Look my thread here http://forum.xda-developers.com/win...ptweakers-2015-08-17-added-5th-quick-t3180474
You can modify registry to turn off led on hardware button.
so i think it can be very easy to use as notification !

The issue at hand is making it work with the screen off. And even if you can light the LED's, you won't just get the windows button, you'll also be getting the back, and search buttons. If we can find a way to turn on/off ONLY the windows button, this would be amazing. Now, having said that, I would still use it with all 3 flashing at once.

What's the registry key for the lights? Can they be enabled when the screen is off? If so I'll try to write a script to do this.

Do you have any knowledge in how the sound events work? Example: Open WPTweaker, go to Sounds, then find SMS. What I want to do is see how the SMS messages are handled, and how it knows to send a sound.

Good news!
After a long search, I found a video which (assuming that the button hardware is similar between Lumias) proves that JUST the windows button could be flashed.

This isn't even a started product yet. We know it's possible, but none of us truly understand how to link it with messages.
In 930 you can't make blink only windows button becouse it have only one channel for all three lights. In 925 I think it have 3 seperate channels.
