How to disable Infra Red in Blue angel? - MDA III, XDA III, PDA2k, 9090 General

I like to find out how to disable the infra red dll "IRCOMM.DLL" from being loaded into memory upon each soft reset.
I am trying to use the com port assigned to it for use as a free com port to use as a Virtual Com Port for Garmin Que.
Thanks.

Found out the solution. It can be done by using Task Manager v2.3 by FdcSoft.
Install the software, go to "Devices", look for line with "IRCOMM.DLL" under DLL column, tap and hold, select Stop, tap and hold again, select Set Manual.

Capslock and symbols indicator for the slidedown keyboard

This has been slowly annoying the hell outta me. I noticed theres no indicator showing that you are using caps, symbols, or shift. It messes up my typing alot. Is there anyway to get some soft of indicator that one of them is on?
does anyone know? Is there some sort of hack maybe?
I would love this as well!
do search a little guys
u can find most of the answer by searchin the forum
example: write "caps AND hack OR tweak" in search field
U can do it, I believe
I did exactly as you suggested and found this post
http://forum.xda-developers.com/viewtopic.php?t=53784
In the middle of the post it shows a registry tweak for the Wizard for caps and shift indicator on the screen. However, it did not work for me. I still see no indicator. Maybe it doesnt work on Blue Angels? Can anyone verify?
I have searched and only found hacks for winmo 5 devices.
They don't work on PPC2003.

bumping this thread to see if I can get any answers...
Are you using PPC2003?
I just tried the tweak with WM5. Doesnt work...
This would require a hardware solution I believe (ie. one that interfaces with the HTC keyboard driver for the Blue Angel).
Consider the following tests:
1) Open a Word/Text editor
2) Using the standard soft keyboard (SIP), type a character in lowercase, eg. 'a' -> "a" appears
3) Press SHIFT on the SIP, then press 'a'. -> "A" appears
4) Press SHIFT on the SIP, then press 'a' on the Blue Angel Hardware keyboard (HWKbd) -> "A" appears
5) Press SHIFT on the HWKbd (SIP then dissapears - reactivate it), then press 'a' on the SIP -> "a" appears ---- note that the HWKbd's SHIFT didn't modify what occurred on the SIP
6) Now press 'a' on the HWKbd -> "A" appears. This indicates that the "SHIFT"/"CTRL" functionality is limited to the hardware keyboard itself.
The same applies to the CAPS Lock on the HWKbd. If you turn on CAPS, caps only works for keys input from the HWKbd, not from the SIP (try it: on the HWKbd, press 'Fn', then ''Shift/Cap". Keys input from HWKbd are UPPERCASE, and from the SIP lowercase.
Any solution to this will require development of some sort of driver/interface with the Blue Angel's hardware itself.
Any takers...?

GPRS disconnect button not displaying

Im currenlty using Black 2.5 release
and I've gone into the HTweakC and enabled the show disconnect button
for the GPRS/G3 Tweaks, I then did a soft restart but I dont see an button that disables/enables GPRS
u're right
Yes me having this issue too...
Have verified that the relevant registry settings are set properly...
but the button just doesn't appear....
Well, as an alternate solution, you can use this little app here to turn of GPRS ... works well if you want to use wifi and be sure you don't get hit with roaming charges.
@aximfan - by default in Black2.5 it has the TEN button comm manager. The GPRS is the third one down on the Right hand side. It should be there unless you installed something which replaced the defaults.
@fychan - what ROM are you on???
@Both why did you not post this in the persective ROM Threads???

Click to collapse
I havent installed anything extra and the button you mentioned right now its mapped to beam on/off
@aximfan - you have a corrupted download. And you do not need to touch HTCtweak.
Here is a screen capture of my Black2.5 comm manager:

Tilt2 - How to Access 2nd Tab of Power Via Shortcut

I know there are plenty of apps out there to change brightness. But I want a simple shortcut to the native setting so I do not have to install anything else on my Tilt2. In the past I have always been able to create shortcuts that get me directly to the tab I want in any control panel setting. But I cannot accomplish this with the Power tabs on the Tilt 2.
There are various syntaxes that usually work. For example, to get to the 3rd tab in the Phone settings in order to change Bands, the target line in the shortcut reads:
\windows\ctlpnl.exe cplmain.cpl,20,3 (the 3 at the end indicates the 3rd tab)
And this works on my Tilt 2.
And to get to the Power settings the target is:
\windows\ctlpnl.exe cplmain.cpl,3
This opens up Power just fine. And the Backlight tab is the second tab. So I should just be able to add a 2 at the end like so:
\windows\ctlpnl.exe cplmain.cpl,3,2
But it does not work. In fact I cannot get Power to open up to any of the other tabs (Backlight, Advanced, Information). I have tried the other syntaxes such as:
26#ctlpnl.exe cplmain.cpl,3,2
ctlpnl.exe cplmain.cpl,3,2
I can also get to the same Power window by calling mycpl.cpl instead of cplmain.cpl like so:
ctlpnl.exe mycpl.cpl,4
But as soon as I add the tab modifier at the end it fails to open.
Can someone much smarter than I figure out how to get the Power window to open up on the Backlight tab? Muchas gracias.

[MOD] How To DISABLE HOME BUTTON WAKE & Assign SWIPE WAKE

This all started after I noticed how much I accidentally hit the Home Button with my flip case on the Note 2,
It sometimes woke the phone and jumped it directly into an app, and thus, can also make unsolicited phone calls or such.
This will come in handy if you have a sticker (or elevated) home button, and when you need to wake the device quickly without having to hit the power button (i.e. check maps while driving, etc.)
**Video demonstration coming soon**
WHAT THIS DOES:
1) Disables your home button wake. Meaning that you will officially stop the home button from waking up your device.
2) Every other function of the home button will be left unchanged.
3) Use app called "GestureDroid" from the Play Store to wake device without having to hit the powerbutton.
INSTRUCTIONS:
**NOTE: You do this at your own risk, you will need to have ROOT in order to perform the first task of disabling your Home Button wake function.
1) Use a file explorer such as Root Explorer (recommended. It creates a wonderful backup of the modified system file) or ES File Explorer from the Play Store. Open up the app
2) Navigate to SYSTEM in your root directory (directory should appear as "/system"), then navigate to USR, and finally locate the folder KEYLAYOUT
4) Mount the read/write to read/edit: Press the "Mount R/W" grey box on the top right area (if using Root Explorer) and it should switch to say "Mount R/O".
5) Look for the file titled as "gpio-keys.kl", and long press for options (if using Root Explorer) and choose the option to "Open in Text Editor"
4) Once in Text Edit mode, look for the line "Key 172 HOME WAKE" and remove the word "WAKE".
7) Press back, confirm and save. Root explorer should now have saved a backup file for you.
8) REBOOT
TOGGLING WAKE GESTURE
1) Go to the Play Store and look for the app called "GestureDroid". There is a free version, and if you want more functions, I would suggest that you support the developer and purchase the pro version for $1.31 USD.
2) Open the app, and tap the green checkmark to enter. Enable "Start/Stop service", and also your preferred choice of 1 gesture or 2 gestures (and etc, if you have the pro version)
3) Under "Action", select WAKE PHONE
4) Go to "Advanced Settings", select ACTIVATE SENSOR IN SLEEP and also ENABLE IN LANDSCAPE.
5) Personally for me, I've edited the Maximum time to become 350ms, this permits me to swipe at a comfortable speed without going frantic trying to wake my phone. I have also changed the Minimum time to be 300ms, and Wake Time to be 6000ms.
**ADDITIONAL NOTES:
- App is on, even if it doesn't show on Notifications Area.
- App can also wake into lockscreen or bypass lockscreen
- You should notice a faint red glow on your sensor if the app is working
- You will need to do your swiping motions closer to the sensor if it doesn't seem to work
- After rebooting, the app might need to be refreshed, turned on/off again, or have the "Activate Sensor in Sleep" option re-enabled.
- For flip cases, I would recommend choosing the "2 Gestures" option.

If this MOD has helped you, HIT THE THANKS BUTTON.
I don't have a problem with my home button I think it's a little too hard yet. As far as the app you suggest, I suggest proximity sensor as it is a much better app that works to turn on and off your phone using the cover. Note, you might have to put a thin card on the inside of your cover.

For those who find some issues with GestureDroid (the sensor turns off occasionally) try a app called "Tap Tap App". You need to give it permission to act as administrator over screen on/off after you install the app, but I find that it's a lot more reliable because of this reason.
Tweak with the settings by going into "Unlocking Training", and then selecting "Sensor configuration".

I used this mod because everytime I slide it into my pocket, I do so upside down which means to grip it and pull it out, I tend to hold it in a way that hits the home key before it's out of my pocket causing all sorts of issues for me. Looking around, I also noticed a few configuration files for various controllers and keyboards including the usb Xbox 360 controller and the Apple keyboard. Is it possible to write/download one for something like the PS3 Sixaxis?
Do you mean finding an app that can offer plug and play of your PS3 controller? Or do you mean configuring the individual buttons?
This is the app that's available for the six axis controller:

How to Remap the LG V50 Assistant Key [NO ROOT]

I recently switched over to this phone from a Note 8. I've been happy with it except I don't use the Google Assistant. It's not entirely useful for me and I miss being able to remap the Bigsby Button on the Note 8, so I looked for a method of trying to remap it on the LG V50. I found this thread by cavalloz which used Tasker to remap they key, so all credit goes to him. I figured I would let you guys know about it, and then lay out a tutorial-like post in case some people needed more guidance.
First, you will need to disable the google assistant. Settings->General Tab-> Apps & Notifications->Default Apps->Assist & Voice Input. At the bottom, I turned off the open assistant (one press), talk to google (two presses), show visual snapshot (three presses). I have not tested to see if you can disable only the first button press method, because I don't use any of them, but you can try it because I know some of you like Google Lens.
Second, you will need Tasker. It is a paid app, but I feel like it is well worth it for what it provides.
Third, you will need to give Tasker some permissions. You can follow this guide they provide here.
Once Tasker has been closed, you can disconnect your phone from the computer, and then reopen the app. In the Profiles Tab, click the plus button at the bottom to create a new Event in the dropdown menu.
You will need to select System->Logcat Entry, select No in the popup, and you should have an Event Edit screen that says Output Variables, Component and Filter. Click the little magnifying glass icon, grant permissions for writing over other apps, and select OK in the Tasker pop-up.
Now try to be quick to minimize what is captured, but click the orange floating play-button on your screen to start recording, and press the assistant button. Then press the orange button again(now a square) which will stop recording. Tasker will pop-up again, and you will be given a panel containing everything that was recorded, including a response to you pressing the assistant button. In the filter text box field, start typing InputReader and the panel will be reduced to the relevant 'key events' we need.
It should read like
Code:
InputReader: Key event: device=4 type=0x0001 value=0x00000000 when=2087698767908
with the numbers being dependent on your phone (I think).
Select one of the events in the pop-up panel, and it will be loaded into the filter portion of the previous Event Edit screen. You should only keep
Code:
device=4 type=0x0001 value=0x00000000
in the filter text-field.
Click the back arrow in the top left-hand corner of the screen. You may get a small little box next to the new entry New Task +. Click it, and just click the check mark of the small box that appears at the bottom.
Now in the Task Edit panel, you should be able to click the plus button and add a response to the button press. I used Alert->Torch to toggle the flash-light. In the Action Edit panel, you should be able to change the action from Off to Toggle. Click the back button in the top-left again
Your button should now be able to toggle the flash-light. Let me know if this has worked for you guys. You could get more advanced and set it up for single press, double press, hold, etc.
Any other app than Tasker that can be used? Can it be used with force widemode application
I am only able to get this to work with the screen on... Is there a way to do this with the device locked and the screen off?
That's pretty cool, thanks for the guide. Works well on my LG G8. Also works when screen is off.
Played around with it a bit on my V60
Fantastic guide! Couldn't get the dual screen working at first, but I was eventually able to track down a log that corresponded to the button in all states (Locked/Unlocked, Case On/Off)
Honestly not 100% what I'm doing, so if anyone has any input that would be great! I can't post the URL yet because I just registered here, but I just linked to this thread on reddit /r/LGV60
TLDR; I found that using the Component "LGPhoneWindowManager" and Filter "hotKeyRelease count= : 0" works as a trigger while the phone is both locked and unlocked, and whether the case is on or off. Let me know if there's anything else I should know!
Do we need to add this for Tasker to read logs?
Code:
adb shell pm grant net.dinglisch.android.taskerm android.permission.READ_LOGS
Well I don't seem to be able to narrow down what actually works with this.
Code:
InputReader: Key event: device=5
was working ok to start with then I rebooted and device changed to 4!?
I've also tried
Code:
LGPhoneWindowManager hotKeyRelease count= : 2
for double tap and
Code:
HotKeyController HOTKEY_LONG_PRESS
for long press and they seemed to work initially but something stops them from working with the screen off after a while.
Just got my V50. I can't make it to work with your instructions
Done everything step by step.
Edit: Nevermind, now it works.

Double tap works for me, but it still keeps trying to open google assistant (even if its disabled from assistant itself and phone settings)
Does this also happens to you?
Anyway, ended using Button Remapper Pro from the Playstore. It also needs a PC and ADB, but it worked for long press with screen off.
Thanks XP_2, your instructions are impeccable! This worked well on my LG G8S - I used the Google Assistant button to launch my SatNav.
thanks a lot. I did all steps but, I have a problem. I can't turn off the snapshot (three clicks)
Make the video tutorial please
Sorry to revive an old thread. But can you remap the button to open a specific app, such as UAPP? By the way I own a V60, not V50.
I'm sorry but I can only get to the moment when I record my button press and go back to tasker.
Then I,m completely stuck. Please help.
What I can see is:
Code:
%lc_text
Text
The text that corresponds to the matched logical entry
COMPONENT [arrow button and magnifying glass button]
ViewRootlmpl
FILTER [arrow button]
ViewRoot's touch event: action down
GREP FILTER (check help) [tick place where I can turn it on or off]
And what to do now???
Clicking back button pops up missing permissions screen - but I can't grant any from this screen
Please help
