Just went to the Softbank store (formerly Vodafone Japan) and saw the X01HT (Hermes). It looks great, but it is WM5 in Japanese. I have read a few posts about needing a new ROM to change languages. Is this something I could realistically consider?
For all you experts, will any of the existing (cooked, baked, whatever) English ROMs work on the Softbank version of the HTC hermes, and still have the device function as a mobile phone in Japan?
If yes, then I will pour through the site some more to figure out the details.
TIA
Read Upgrading FAQ #1 on the hermes wiki, it answers your question:
http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=Hermes_UpgradeFAQ
Then download any english rom for the Hermes from here:
http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=Hermes_Upgrades
And read upgrading FAQ #5 if your device has a non-english keyboard.
According to some Japanese people who bought SoftBank X01HT, it has special protection that avoid booting without effective SoftBank SIM card, and uses new access point setting for flatrate internet connection.
Worse than all, it CANNOT unlock with imei-check.co.uk or any existing unlock solution!
I guess all settings may be contained as CAB file in Extended_ROM, however still I never confirm and get it yet, since I have no plan to buy X01HT (I already have another Hermes).
If anybody who have X01HT read here, please upload the contents of Extended_ROM into ftp://xdaupload:[email protected]/Hermes/
So as of now, I DON'T recommend to update (change) Japanese to English ROM, until more information about X01HT are collected, especially how to restore connection setting and bypass SIM-absent protection.
FYI... the "PC Site Direct" of SoftBank is Japan's first real flatrate internet for 3G mobile without WAP proxy.
You can use Skype or video streaming unlimitedly, however it blocked SSL and some TCP ports (not confirmed all ports yet), so you cannot use Direct Push and wireless ActiveSync with Exchange Server (SoftBank said they will support Direct Push in near future, however...).

Thanks for your warning. But I'm not sure if my situation is the same. I want to use the X01HT with a Softbank SIM card and EN menus. Will installing Extended ROMs for English work with me in that situation?
Quick answer is no. You cannot change the ROM of X01HT yet. Wait until someone finds the way.
Please Excuse my Ignorance, but HOW do you flash a ROM?

Hi, I have been reading all about upgrading Extended ROMs for the last hour, I have downloaded JASJAM_WWE_1.20.305.3_1.20.305.104_1.07.03.10_ship and am ready to flash my unlocked X01HT, but I can't figure out how to actually do it?
Is it done in ActiveSync? Because my version is in Japanese and nothing shows up on my computer. If there is a separate utility, please point me in the right direction. There isn't a readme in my ROM file.
TIA

your comment says that you do not know what you are doing... upgrading the ext rom and burning a rom are totally different things.
anyway, i suppose you wanna burn another rom. rom files are usually archived. just uncompress the archived file to get all necessary files. then, run ROMUpgradeUt.exe and follow the instruction.
if you do not understand the instruction completely, you might better consider giving yourself a second thought before you make it a brick... softbank might charge you the full price of the unit (85,000 yen?) for repair or exchange in the worst case. just a kind warning...
i recommend you read wiki well until you understand basics... good luck.

what you did is not clearly explained.
nothing shows up when you do what? there is no separate utility. everything is stored in the rom archives.
good point. there was no readme in the docomo archive, either.

Now that's a reply I can use. My mistake was assuming that the Extended ROMs includes the ROM, but it turns out it's the other way around. Now that I downloaded the ROM, all is clear.
Thank to all.

qtotter, thanks for your help. I am now seeing English on my X01HT!! But there are a few more outstanding issues I need to address, which I will ask here, and then continue to search for an answer:
Q: Activesync on my desktop is still in Japanese. Anyway to convert that to English?
I'm basically following the steps dandare123 and you outlined to switch to English. see the post
Q: It's not clear if you let the iMate extended ROMs install or not. I did. Then I moved the Softbank extended ROMs to the extended ROM folder and hit 'autorun'. Both times the installer seemed to hang at the very end, and I just reset. the Hermes seemed to be working, but I don't know if I am missing anything important. Thoughts?
Q: I installed Skype and made a skype call. Worked fine, except the output went to the speakerphone and I couldn't switch to either the earpiece or the bluetooth headset paired in headset mode.
Q: speaking of bluetooth, I can pair my headset, but can't seem to get audio onto it. I haven't tried just the phone to the bluetooth headset, but should I be able to get the system audio onto the headset?
Many thanks in advance.

autorun is used when you hard-rest the device. if you want to use softbank ext rom, delete everything in the ext rom, copy all the files from softbank ext rom files to the ext rom, and perform hard-reset. (although i don't understand why you need softbank ext rom...)

i would say bt is so complex... anyway, check what you called "my headset" and its supporting profiles. if it supports A2DP, you can use it as stereo audio headset. if not, it is a headset you can use as a mobilephone speaker and a microphone.
btw, hermes A2DP is great! it was much better than i expected. i can use a bt headphone unit i bought for my ipod!!
http://www.mobilecast.co.jp/en/products/handsfree_earfone/mlinkr_series/index.html
thou, i could not use it with htc universal (qtek9000.)
qtotter, you have been so helpful. I'm going to search for a new BT headset with AD2P profile for skype.
So my one remaining problem is that I can't connect to Softbank's 3G network. I was following the instructions as detailed by dandare123 in a separate post, link above. I just repeated everything in the following order:
- flashed the with (iMate) JASJAM_WWE_1.20.305.3_1.20.305.104_1.07.03.10_ship
- reset before the iMate ExtendedROMs were installed (because it hung the first time)
- installed the it4Cat tweaker to unhide the /Extended_ROM folder
- copied the Softbank ExtendedROMs over to the /ExtendedROM folder
- and 'autoran' the Softbank ExtendedROMs to a successful completion.
This time, I noticed that the softbank connection was automatically installed, with the APN=open.softbank.ne.jp. I'm assuming that the password is correct.
But when I try to access the internet via Softbank, I get "Cannot Connect for an unknown reason..."
Any ideas? should I run the iMate Extended ROMs?
TIA.

Check. It's set to PAP. Is there any chance one of the iMate ExtendedROMs needs to be installed? That seems like it's the only thing that I may have done different from dandare123.
everything else seems to be working fine.

that's funny...
ext roms include bug fixes, career settings, and apps provided by careers.
i don't think ext rom has something to do with the internet connection in your case since i have been using the open softbank internet access without installing anything from the ext rom.
i manually set up an connection myself, and it works with open softbank perfectly.
if it does not work out on your phone, there could two possible reasons; a) your connection setting is not correct or b) there could be a signal issue in your area.
I just created the following connection manually
APN:open.softbank.ne.jp
ID:open
PASSWD:o z R t 8 n 2 9 R a 1 P s d 0 7
still no go. One thing I notice is that I am on the 'UMTS Vodafone' network and instead of 3G I see a 'U' at the top. Is that correct?

I found a glitch I've been trying to work around. I use an XDA IIs from O2 with the current Asian WWE O2 ROM in English ;-). Well if I connect to GPRS and use the internet for whatever amount of time I need it for, and disconnect, connect again, and disconnect, it will eventually freeze up the connection when I try to connect again. Either way after like 3 GPRS usages I must softreset in order to connect to GPRS, anyone have this same problem? I would like WM5 but I've upgrade and downgraded 4 times, its just not for my phone, its too slow even with overclocking.
i had the same problem~
and found this as the solution from somewhere in the search

Here is a step by step instruction:
1. Download the older version of caller-id from:
ftp://xda:[email protected]/BlueAngel/CAB_Files/Caller ID/IA_CallerID_1.20_WWE.CAB
and transfer it over to your device. Any directory is OK. I used ActiveSync to put it into the My Documents folder.
2. Remove the file IA_CD-Startup.exe from \Windows\Startup on your device.
3. Rename iacontacts.dll to something else (e.g. old-iacontacts.dll). This file is in the \Windows directory of your device but is hidden. However you can rename it using your PC. Open Windows explorer, and navigate to Mobile Device>My PocketPC>Windows.
4. Rename displayCID.dll to something else (e.g. old-displayCID.dll). Access it via your PC the same as for the previous step.
5. Soft reset
6. Run the CAB file on the device - just tap on it.
7. Soft reset.
That should do it.

Hi there,
I posted a problem today that doesn't sound quite like the one above.. but maybe it is... please read my post (don't want to make a mess by posting here too) and let me know if you think the caller id could the issue.
Thanks.

Hi there,
following my reply on the other thread, I found this one & followed the instructions. Since then I can always connect & disconnect GPRS and never need to use flight mode to re-activate GPRS

So far... soooo good. Strange that caller id would cause the issue. I also downloaded a "Keep your GPRS connection alive" app from another posting. That may be helping as well. Either way, no headaches thus far.
Thanks!
How to update your rom to the latest I-mate version (with push email) and Radio 1.09.0 using the MaUpgradeUt_noID.exe method
1 – download the file “Universal_Upgrade_v1.30.68_radio_1.09.0.zip” from the ftp site (see bottom of post for details)
2 - double click the file and allow it to unpack into a folder
3 – right click on the active sync icon in your tasks tray on you pc (at the stage you should NOT have you universal plugged in)
4 – select connection setting then untick “allow USB connections”
5 – Now take your Universal and take out the SIM and MEMORY CARD
6 – Press light + power + reset with the phone on, this will place the universal into bootloader mode
7 – Connect your Universal via the USB cable to your computer directly i.e. not though a USB hub
8 – Now double click on the program called “MaUpgradeUt_noID.exe” (found in to folder from step 1) this will start the upgrade process, the first stage takes about 3 to 5 minutes to complete, you will then be presented with a screen showing a “Imate Jam” and some information about what you are upgrading to, don’t be worried if this screen does not show you the version numbers you have at present that is normal.
9 – Now continue with the process by clicking upgrade/next
10 – After sometime (about 20 minutes) you should be at the end screen tell you to unplug and reset you “jam” So now unplug your universal and reset it and that’s all there is to it!
Note that during the upgrade process you can follow the progress by also looking at your universal screen with a light source as the backlight will be off.
I hope this post helps someone as looking around the forum Im amazed by the amount of people asking “how do I upgrade my rom” or “I only get a “country id error” when trying to update”
The “Universal_Upgrade_v1.30.68_radio_1.09.0.zip” file can be found here
ftp://xda:[email protected]/Uploads/Universal/Universal_Upgrade_v1.30.68_radio_1.09.0.zip
This file contains the latest imate beta rom v1.30.68 and the latest radio 1.09.0 plus all the tools you need

Rat didn't mention in his post but it comes out in the last screen that it is supposed to be a HARD RESET which will bring about a menu where you have to press 0 (Zero) to ahrd reset the device. hope this helps
Yip, sorry, That's correct. I get the screen that says I have to press 0 to reset or X to exit.
If I press 0 the screen goes blank and stays like that.
I've installed the previous ROM now and it is working perfectly. It's just the new ROM on this page doesn't want to work on my Jasjar.

I downloaded it straight from the first post and it installed flawlessly...
Have you tried installing it from bootloader mode instead of direct update? And without SD card in the PDA? This might work.
BTW, I have returned to the older ROM.... advantages don't outweigh the disadvantages.
My phone keeps on hanging (for the 1st time ever after 5 months use and different ROMs) on the screen where it shows whose calling. I havent answered the call yet but it stops ringing. When i open the PDA it has ANSWER on the left softkey and pressing this doesn't do anything. Will wait for the release..
It is a lot faster thought (the test ROM)
Thanks for the info. I'm not gonna bother upgrading now. I'll wait for a decent ROM later.
Thanks m8
umm - stupid question I know.....
But what does this actually DO??
I understand that this will upgrade the radio stack and thus produce better reception etc - but what else will it do??
If I have an Orange M5000 will I still be able to use it on Orange's network?? Do i need to fill in any settings? Do I need to make notes of certain stuff beforehand? If so - what settings?
I assume this will totally rewrite the registry and what programs are on teh device - or will it??
I suppose a lot of this information is available on the forum - but tracking it down can take a lot of time for someone who's not necessarily that 'au fait' with the working of the device.

Does this rom work on dopod 900?
Is this is final release?
Cheers,
Hi folks, sorry for this question, but I couldn't find what I was looking for ...:
I upgraded my BA PH20B to 1.42 WWE and the Radio to 1.15.00.
But I struggled with the upload of the EXT_ROM - the ms.nbf file, because at this time I didn't probably format a reasonable size for the Extended Rom (at least, this is my understanding of the situation as of now).
But since a couple of weeks I work fine with my MDAIII/BA.
There are only minor concerns, for example with the mail client from WebIS, Flexmail I'm running in an issue, which is a k.o. for using Flexmail: After having connected once via GPRS to the Internet, there is no way to reestablish the GPRS connection an other time.
I got an answer/hint from a member of the webis community, I should use an other caller id program, which is part of the Extended ROM.
Because I didn't install the EXT_ROM, I'm sceptical about the outcome, my device seems to be reasonable stable (but very often I can't answer a call, which happened also before rather frequently!) and I would prefer not to touch it at all. Never touch a running system worked for me very well ;-)
Therefor three questions:
1) Because I don't use the EXT_ROM so far I'm now curious, whether I should follow his advice and if yes,
2) how to upload it, so using the format utility of the extended room toolkit and unhiding/unlocking the directory - is this all I need to do to succeed - or I would prefer just to install this callerid.exe file, but I don't know how to do that and
3) which EXT-ROM should I use?
Thanks,
Alexander
Hello,
I am new to this forum, and I have read through a lot of the links and threads about this, but I have not found the answer to my question. Will these ROM Updates work on a HTC S621 that I have through Unicel? The phone is unlocked, but I dont know if that means that I still have to download the file that will unlock my phone? I am very interested and eager to upgrade my pnone to Windows Mobile 6.1, but I am honestly afraid that my inexperience with doing something of this nature will "brick" my phone and I will be without a phone. It irrates me to no end that neither HTC or Unicel are going to bother to come out with an official update for this phone, so if I want the lastest update to the phone, I have to go through unofficial channels. Could someone please tell me if this will even work for my phone before I try to do it? Thank you
Larry
Yes it will work sir, just follow the tutorial and upgrade... The tutorial is linked below in my signature... Also, as a beginner I would recommend using Ricky's rom version 24. ... if you need any help let me know okay... also, make sure you run connection setup after the upgrade...
Am I going to have a problem, or should I do something different since the instructions seem to be written for a phone on T-Mobile? I am really fretting about bricking my phone and I dont know if Unicel will do anything for me if I happen to brick the phone because I did something wrong. I would really like to try flashing the ROM on the phone to Windows Mobile 6.1, but I am just nervous, I guess. Thanks for the help and wish me luck
Larry
You should be fine if you read it over (print it out) and can follow directions. The main problems people run into are keyboard layouts and 270 errors.

Yah exactly just read and follow instructions word for word...
nobody on this site can promise that nothing will go wrong, but it is usually determine that when something does go wrong, it is because the instructions were not being followed.
you sound a little too nervous to me to be trying this, you may want to either find someone else to do this for you, or take a deep breath, have a beer, and then dive in.
i've done this three times without an issues.

which version are you using? which rom version (i.e. are you using Rickys or Kavana's)
If you are using Ricky's go all the way down to the last thing on the homescreen which should be settings... and then scroll to the right to Chome settings and then in there you can unclick everything you do not like... everything that is bolded will show up on your homescreenv and everything not bolded will not show up..... then restart your phone and you should be on the go...
Hello,
Okay, I have successfully installed "Ricky's" ROM. I followed the steps to the letter in the newbie thread. I installed the keymapping .CAB file. My phone needs the Unicel Internet settings. I have once before reset my phone back to factory specs, which required that I have to go into the local Unicel store and get the internet settings and install them, the problem now is that I could use Wi-Fi to access the internet before with my phone, even though I couldnt through my data plan/cell service. Since I updated the ROM, I cannot even access the new through Wi-Fi. In the instructions, it states that you should run the connection wizard, but the problem is it only lists T-Mobile, AT&T, and Carolina in my phone, not Unicel. I know that the GSM partner of Unicel was bought by AT&T, but I dont want to set my phone to that because I dont know if it will screw everything up if I do.
So what advice can you offer me? Will getting the Internet Settings from Unicel or member Outragis solve all of my problems? Thank you for any suggestions! By the way, I Love the new Windows Mobile 6.1, now I just have to learn how to use it!
Thank You,
Larry

Yes just private message that guy that said has the Unicell internet settings as you will need them in there and especially for receiving MMS (picture messages)... so just ask him to give them to you and I bet he will be more than happy to provide you with them.
I did PM him, I hope to hear back from him soon. I Imagine I would need to use Active Sync at home to download the updates to my phone.
Thanks for the help and advice, I am really liking the new interface!

I need Help!
Okay, so I am trying to find the files I need so that my HTC S621 that I have through Unicel to work and connect to the internet. I have contacted Unicel and they sent me a link to a file, and this is supposed to work, but it doesnt.
Here is the email:
Subject: Doing a Hard reset on the HTC621 will remove all Unicel settings
Issue/ Findings:
After doing a hard reset on the HTC S621 you will no longer have any Unicel settings and will need to reinstall them for WAP and MMS. To hard reset the HTC S621 (with the HTC S621 powered OFF) press and hold the 2 soft keys and than press the power button. Do not let go of the soft keys until you see the message to reset your HTC by pressing the send button.
Resolution:
The setting can be reinstalled into the HTC S621 by using a CAB file and a Micro SD card. The File has been posted on the internet and can be installed 2 ways.
Option 1: Active sync
From your PC go to http://www.unicel.com/devices/htsc621.html and download the zip file to your PC. Open the zip file and extract all the files within to your PC. Once this is done you should see the folder 2577 on your PC. Now connect your HTC S621 to your PC (you will need ActiveSync for this part and a memory card) and open Explore. Open “My windows mobile-based device”. Now drag or copy and paste folder 2577 from your PC to “Storage Card”. Once this is complete, unplug your device from your PC and power-cycle your device. After waiting a few seconds, you will get a prompt to do an auto-configure, press yes and your files will be installed. Once the auto-configure is complete, you will be asked to do a restart. Press yes to restart and all the settings the device had at the time of purchase should now be on the device.
After the device has power cycled, a change needs to be made to the GPRS Authentication to ensure connectivity. Please follow the steps below:
Start
Settings
Connections
GPRS
Unicel Info2Go
scroll to authentication type
CHAP
Done
End
Option 2: SD card reader
From your PC go to http://www.unicel.com/devices/htsc621.html and download the zip file to your PC. Open the zip file and extract all the files within to your PC. Once this is done you should now see the folder 2577on your PC. Now open your SD reader, with your memory card installed in the reader, drag the entire 2577 folder to the SD card. Once this action is complete, install the SD card into the S621 and turn on the device. After waiting a few seconds, you will get a prompt to do an auto-configure, press yes and your files will be installed. Once the auto-configure is complete, you will be asked to do a restart. Press yes to restart and all the settings the device had at the time of purchase should now be on the device.

Okay, so I downloaded the file and did what it said, but it is not auto running the file and doing anything. Is this because I upgraded the ROM and the file will not work with Windows Mobile 6.1? I am getting a little flustered and I love the new OS, but I would like to be able to use the internet on the phone. I cant even connect to the internet through Wi-Fi.
Does someone have the correct setting file for a Unicel HTC S621 that I could have to get my phone working right? I would appreciate it!
Thank You
Larry
Couldn't you just add them manually
Start - settings - then each add settings...
I'm surprised Unicel doesn't make them easier to access
This link might help but your easiest bet is getting the guy who commented to read you his.

Running out of memory?
I recently did the Kavana 6.1 upgrade on my Unicel/AT&T HTC S621. Everything is working fine except that the phone is constantly running out of memory (Which, actually, is not really fine...) Using the Free Memory app doesn't really work, as it will free only a KB or so, and it doesn't show the correct amount of RAM, in any case (usually around 5K instead of the 64K actually ob board). Any ideas?
Oh yes, and also, the phone now calls itself a C720W, which is a Dopod (Asian carrier) version of the S621... Anyone else?
Thanks,
John
Hi, as title. I can get almost everything work except 3g network(hspda).
I tried many version of radio rom. and now stay on newest which is 1.71.09.01.
with others, have extra problems.

hi,
I still got the same problem.
I already posted in this thread
forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=693820
but there was no solution so far
I tried different android images from donut to eclair. currently I run polymod 2.1g.
with both I got no mobile network while WLAN works fine.
I tried different radio-version - at the moment 1.71.09.01
I also tested 2 different SIM-Cards from two different providers.
1. Reseller from T-Mobile Germany
2. Reseller from Vodafone (also Germany)
I have not flashed my mobile - I run Android from SD

Make sure you have 3G enabled under windows mobile. If it's disabled, android will only use 2g networks.
Edit.
Wait i might have jumped the gun. Are you saying that you cannot use mobile internet at all or just 3G?
Maybe your provider/providers data under Access Point names is incorrect?
Hi. I live in Taiwan. and go with Taiwan Cellur.
I have 3G enabled under WM, and I use the method as "NoMoRootFS Instructions for NAND".
I use [Myn’s Warm Donut RL5] with 1.7.1 NBH
You said APN. when I click APN , nothing shows up.

yes, I cannot use mobile internet at all. it does not show the available speed in the titlebar (H/3G/...) and it does not connect to mobile internet. browser just says it has no connection.
with wifi enabled everything is fine.
but maybe I have jumped the gun in claiming that I got the same problem than the thread owner... but I thought he has no mobile internet at all, too?
@hitakeane
with donut/1.6 I also had no APN-Entries in the menu and even the provider-list was empty. but with 2.1 this is working.
but mobile internet is not working for me with none of the constellations.
- not with donut and manual APN
- not with eclair and predefined APN
- not with eclair and manual APN
what I was thinking about this morning is: my phone had a netlock for D1. but I entered the official unlock-code from my provider (the phone is older than two years). But could it be that there is any lock left crashing the party?

Go to Access point name in settings invoke the settings menu and press add new access point. You should find all the required data on your gsm provider network.

Have you tried kallt kaffe's latest eclair build? Both 3g and 2g connections work for me on that build.

Haven't tried until now. But it's running on my Kaiser now. But mobile internet is not working for me.
I really like to know what this is. Can't be that tricky when it is working for most of the people except for me and few others. Hm...
I asked google many times for the correct apn-setting. But I always end up with the same 2 settings that I have tried both.

I think that in a andboot folder you should have boot log file(or something like that) Look for errors in this file and post them here maybe someone will be able to help you. Also I remember reading somewhere a while ago that it's best to have one of newer winmo roms( 6.5, 6.5.1, 6.5.3, 6.5.5) when running android using haret.
I have seen a HTC Desire from a colleague this morning (also Android 2.1). Right above the submenu "Mobile Networks", where I can configure APNs and so on, he has a checkbox to enable/disable mobile network at all. This checkbox is missing for me. Should it be there?

what I don't understand: what has WinMo to do with Android. Ok, it is installed in NAND, but I thought it is not running either?
hi I had a problem simular to this took me days to figure out a temp fix, if your running haret/win mob rather than nand, if you connect to the internet/3g before you start haret, it sometimes picks up 3g ok.

doesn't seem to work for me, tried it some times. will give it a try with another build later...
but this part of your sentence is even more interesting for me:

you think it could be that the problem is gone when I flash Android to nand?
so the only thing preventing me from flashing is the not working mobile internet. if that was working I would make android my every day operating system for the next time.
maybe i'll give flashing a try later if this solves the problem.
the only thing I'm not sure about is if I understood it right how to come back to my shipped rom.
I got the update from 6.0 to 6.1 from T-Mobile (mda-vario.exe), I started that one and copied all the files from Windows-Temp-folder to an other place. In this folder there is a RUU_signed.nbh, is this a full rom I can flash to go back to WM 6.1?
To get me right - I'm not asking how to do this - I just want to know if this file should be a full image that I can use as backup or if this is just an update-file.
I think it is always a full image, right?
(can't find german t-mobile rom in wiki - so I hope I can use this)
hi, I set APN and it works.
though it's quite unstable.
any ideas to improve it? thanks all.
another question.
I remembered I saw at somewhere about low disk space.
I installed some software and ran out of disk, yet I have a 16G micro sd.
how should I do with this? thanks.
I'll keep on searching.

Well I'm just repeating what I've heard. Since you run android using HAret from WINMO then the version of Winmo might have something to do with your problem.
But yeah go ahead and try NAND it might solve the issue.

The rom files you copied may be just an update, however since it was a 6.0 to 6.1 upgrade I expect it'll be a full stock rom, one way to tell would be to place the NBH file on SD card, rename to KAISimg.nbh, enter bootloader, ( power+camera), and look at what it says it will update, a full update will include OS, RADIO, SPL and possibly SPLASH.
You do not need to continue the update, just pull the battery, or press dpad, it will cancel the flash, don't press the power button tho, because then it will flash it
Another rough guide would be file size, a full 6.1 rom is around 100MB or so.
If you choose to go Nand, remember to unlock your SIM pin before flashing, also make certain you have installed HardSPL, just in case
ok, I was hoping for an answer like 'you stupid noob, there are no update-roms, every rom is a full rom'
That would have made it much easier
But your answer was nearly as helpful, thank you zenity.
- filesize is 99MB (seems to be fine)
- it says it will update RADIO_V2, BOOTLOADER, SPLASH1, OS (should be all)
- in wiki the download-link for NL t-mobile-rom goes to the t-mobile-site. So I interpret the NL-rom to be a full one. So german could be a full one, too
To be sure I dumped my own device so I can try to reconstruct this to a nbh-file if the other rom won't work
- HardSPL is already installed (I flashed some radios before)
- SIM pin is already unlocked, too (didn't work with PIN for Haret so I had to unlock)
That's enough backing for me - otherwise I got a good reason to buy a new device
Thanks to all helping me up to this point.
I'll give NAND a try later this day and post some feedback.
ok, flashed it yesterday and mobile network works like a charm.
only thing is, menu item "Mobile Network" is still missing so I can't disable mobile network. but by using a widget for home screen I can en-/disable mobile network (without changing apn)
flashing was really easy - thanks to all doing such a great job in bringing Android to Kaiser.
Also thanks to all helping me in this thread.
