Anyone know how to unlock these devices. I have a line on a TMobile version but I am moving to Cingular and will need to unlock it.
Thanks in advance.
you can request the unlock code from t-mobile.
yea i'm in the same boat...the only thing is you have to be with tmobile for 3 months plus before you can request an unlock code
Hopefully, after the phone is out for a couple of weeks people will start coming up with customizations.
This phone has a lot of potential
This is unlike any T-Mo device that I have unlocked in the past (and I have unlocked several in my 6+ years with them).
I put in a request for a SIM unlock on 10/26 and they sent me an email yesterday saying that the unlock code must be requested directly from the manufacturer (HTC) and can take up to TWO weeks. And they said they cannot guarantee that it will be received at ALL!
This is weird. Right now I am abroad and the Dash is useless to me. Here's to hoping that HTC comes through and I can unlock this. If not, it's time to donate some more money to Buzz
the folk over at imei check have just released and unlock for the dash. Try it out and let us know how it works...good luck

No way in heck am I paying for an unlock. If I wanted an unlocked device I would have gotten a S620. This is an issue for T-Mo to sort out and they will.
Barring that, I would rather give my money in a donation to either xda-dev or Buzz. That's just me though. Not everyone has my patience...or thinking.
Just spoke to tmobile customer rep...they said 72hrs approx to find the code based on imei to unlock...however if the time period extends 72hrs its because they have to contact the manufacture to request the code...something tells me it will be the latter instead of the former...errrr

This comment makes absolutly no sense. Your willing to pay an extra $200 to have a device that is just SIM unlocked. The S620 isn't even CID unlocked yet. But you are unwilling to pay $40.00 to get a T-Mobile version both CID and SIM unlocked. Are you crazy? The T-Mobile code isn't going to CID unlock the phone for you.
one more thing. tmo told me that if you buy the phone from the tmo store, you have to wait 14 days for the return period to expire, before they can even address your unlock request.
maybe the rep was misinformed, but she looked into it.

This is true, I've done a search on t-mobile's support website for SIM Unlock. And the restrictions and policy says you have to at a minimum wait 14 days, It also mentions that your account must be active for longer than a 90 day period. And you have to wait a minimum of 90 between each unlock request.

It makes sense to me, dude
Dan, it's not about the money at all. I was referring to spending money on an unlocked phone in general, whether it was through imei-check or through HTC. Granted, it's less money to get it CID-unlocked but for me it's a matter of principle. I would rather spend my hard earned money on a community effort that helps all Excalibur users. I would gladly give $100 or more to Buzz if he can come up with a solution to help the entire Excal community. I don't even own a Universal, yet I donated to Buzz's cause in that effort.
You probably don't understand, but you don't have to. Like I said, it just needs to make sense to me.

I too would pony up money to have someone come up with an unlocker for Excalibur. The more popular the device is the more likely an unlocker will be developed.

I checked out the Universal Unlock from Buzz but it required you to Reflash the phone. I'm not sure I feel comfortable to reflash a brand new phone with out a garantee that it would work or that it wouldn't screw up the phone.
For that reason alone I think that the cost to have it unlocked is worth the 40.00 bucks. I too am a developer and respect the need to figure stuff like this out and support the efforts of others who are paving the way for others.

Hi guys,
T-Mo sent me the unlock code today. It's an 8 digit numeric code. So, my quest is over for the time being (until I need the CID unlock). I haven't tried unlocking the Dash since I am in Dubai at the moment and don't have it with me.
Incidentally, this place is a RIP OFF. The room in the Grand Hyatt is half a grand a night! And on top of that, the 'net access is not free (and costs $40). Stay away from this place if you love to save your hard-earned money.
CID vs. SIM
What is the difference between CID unlocking and SIM unlocking? Which of these apply to the Dash (as opposed to the s620)?
Thanks!

Thanks so much.
So what do the guys at imei-unlock know that we don't?
THIS forum is the place for all the WM geeks out there, this is where solutions are born! No-one has a homebrew process to retrieve/generate unlock codes?

Is it possible to do so? I want to use it on Cingular. If not then what do you guys suggest for unlocking? I am thinking gsm liberty is good unless you guys know any place that is cheaper.

I'm 99% sure that you can unlock it and use it on Cingular.
Yea, that i know. My question is is there a free way to unlock it like the hermes series or do i have to shell out $38?

I bought my unlock code on eBay for 28$ from dtdtwireless and it worked fine if you want to check him out.
if the phone is a tmobile phone, they'll unlock it for u for free.
Alright so they are all pretty standard on prices. 30-40 dollars. Ont the t-mobile thing, what would they ask if I called in? Keep in mind i dont have a t-mobile service. Or I can get a friend to do it but I want to train him on what to say first. You have any experience on calling them and asking for a unlock code?
ya i called in myself and did it, you gotta give them the imei number, and then they send it out, and then u'll recieve an unlock code within a few weeks ( i actually called in after like 2 weeks and they gave it to me over the phone, and then i recieved the email like 10 days later)
however i am a tmobile customer, but i'm pretty sure that you can give the phone to any tmobile customer and they can do it for u, as long as the phone is a tmobile phone. good luck
so you can 30-40$ and get it unlocked right away or wait like 2 weeks and do it for free

I am going nucking futs!!!! I want to use this phone with my AT&T service and it is currently locked to T-Mobile... I hate those arses for locking their phones. Not to mention AT&T for the same practice with the iPhone. If there is an unlock (FREE) mind you, please lemme know I am willing to brick this phone trying, because as it is now it is just a pretty paper weight. It is a t-mobile dash WM6.

They technically are not suppose to ask. Not like your answer will determine whether you get the code or not. I think they are federally told they have to if asked to give it up.

I haven't bothered with the stuff on www.imei-check.com. I'm with T-Mobile USA, so I just called the customer care line and simply asked for my SIM unlock code. They gave it up for FREE. I don't know how BT works, but you could attempt to speak with one of their customer service reps.

Basically, it makes it possible for you to use other GSM carriers with your Dash. For instance, you can use an AT&T SIM card in your Dash and have their service should you choose to leave T-Mobile.
It benefits you if you decided to leave T-Mo for some reason or if you decided to go overseas and didn't want to be charged outlandish prices for coverage.
EDIT: To actually enter the code, you'll need to change your SIM card out for another from a different carrier. Once you do this, your phone will prompt you to enter the code.

hi mate, i have the bt s620 also, and have just unlocked 2 of mine with no probs, admittedly i paid for the unlock i think it was about 9 quid.
and worked both times perfectly.
its an ebay seller.
i dont want to break any rules by posting the link but if you want to PM me i will gladly give you his details, i got both unlock links from him within a couple of hours too.
u can try t-mobile.. and tell them..
ok deleted link cause i paid for it and it was a report on how to do it promptly got my money back after threatening to come round lol
All I can say, Try it out for yourself and post the result. If it works out, I hope it does then leave some feedback for others. Oh by the way, that's pretty darn cheap so give it a shot, you don't got too much to lose
Just to know....
Here in Brazil we can't receive unlock code, from our carries, unless we stay in that carrier for at least 1yr (18 months in some cases) or pays somethink like 2 times the real cost of the phone (and receive a pre-paid sim card). Even if you stays in it for this time, carries try to charge for this code (US$ 150 in some carries).
That's because we, here in Brasil, search for free sim unlock!
Then I ask: no way for free unlock, right ?
Thanks and sorry for my english...
occurs in Peru as in brazil, you have q 2 years minimum contract, to complete the same not unlock the phone you have to keep using the same carrier. why we need to unlock the phone, thanks
If you want to use a differen't carrier's SIM, the phone needs to be unlocked. AT&T does it for free if you're subscribed to their services, T-Mobile you have to be a member for 6 months. How to unlock, ask your carrier when you get the unlock code. With most it's simple, you insert a differen't carrier's sim card, hit "Unlock" when it shows invalid sim, and enter the code. Simple as that.
help
I went to the unlock site, paid my money, got the files, loaded everything, and now the phone just says searching. Nothing else. If I put the original Vodafone sim in, it works, but with 02 it just says searching.
Any ideas,
Vic

For you and all people here knows: In Brazil (and in Peru, as ****man said) we don't have AT&T!!!!!!
And our carries don't give us the unlock code, unless we pay much for that. Even if we stayed with 1 or 2 year contract!!!!!!!
And that's why we need a free unlock method!!!!!!!
So don't say to us to get unlock code from our carries, they don't give it to us.
The I ask again: somewere, somehow, exists any free unlock method ?

You seem a little upset. I've been looking for a free method and I haven't found one. You can either try to pay 40 bux or stick with whatcha got. What can you do about it?
anyone able to root with tmobile version? I have someone selling me their tmobile P6P, its payoff and unlock, but not sure if there is a difference after it is unlock.
There are already some threads in these sections concerning achieving bootloader unlock on T-Mobile variants of the P6P, which is all you need to worry about. Once you can unlock the bootloader (and have USB Debugging enabled) you can do anything you want.
I don't use T-Mobile but it involves contacting T-Mobile support, telling them you're going to be traveling out of the country, and request they SIM unlock the phone (so that you could use SIM cards that work in other countries). When they SIM unlock your phone, you can then enable OEM Unlock and unlock the bootloader. After that, the world is yours.
The other threads will give more detail and better advice, as I know there was something about temporary SIM unlock versus permanent, and how to achieve one or the other.
Search this section for T-Mobile in the thread name, if I remember correctly.

I used Twitter to send a Direct Message. I said "Good evening support. I have a favor to ask. Can you unlock my new Pixel 6? I may be going out of the country on short notice to assist a family friend and would want to put in a SIM from a carrier there."

I have gotten every phone I've owned in the last 4 years unlocked no problem through Tforce on FB. They wont budge on my Pixel 6 pro this time. Its crazy.
Took a couple hours of messaging today but T-Mobile twitter unlocked 2 new phones that were financed through T-Mobile. At first I received a canned not eligible due "insert company policy". I asked if they would waive the 40 day requirement if I paid off both devices in full today. They agreed but both devices must be connected to and use data on the network first. I paid off the remaining balance and they instantly unlocked both phones. I did not have to use the unlocker app. Lot of hoops to jump through but we'll get a $600 credit over 24 billing cycles. Make sure the credits are on your pending bill. We still have to trade in the old phones.
Both of these phones have physical sims. They confirmed both devices would be unlocked for both physical and ESIMS. I also learned that OTA updates are pending with no time frame for all 3 of our physical SIM cards. The updates would enable SA (standalone) 5G. They currently rely on LTE. Support confirmed that ESIMS currently work with SA 5G and that customers are capable of switching to ESIM using the website.
Edit: I created a Twitter account just for this. Want to point out that the customer service agent was professional and pleasant to work with. Be patient and respectful. They are clearly overworked after Sprint merger and outsourcing by the corportate MBA terrorists.
ok I'm not talking about sim unlock people, I'm talking about bootloader unlock...

Can you do a bootloader unlock with a temporary sim unlock from tmobile, or does it require permanent sim unlock from tmobile?
If you are SIM unlocked, it functions like a factory unlocked PX6/P. Enable OEM unlock, go to bootloader, fastboot flashing unlock
You might be able to start here by getting your phone T-Mobile unlocked. Check out this thread https://forum.xda-developers.com/t/...rvice-oneplus-samsung-google-lg-moto.4231597/

Even if I have to lose the camera
The camera loss has nothing to do with a service unlock.
You should call Verizon, give them the IMEI number, see if it's clean and the phone is paid off. If so, they can unlock it.
You can go with online services but they aren't cheap and there are few other variables. You can read more in the several posts about others' need to unlock a phone.

It's not paid off, and one of the security breach results that happened to my phone left Verizon with the opinion that the symptoms on the phone were deliberate, and that I added a second phone line. So, they think that I added services that cost money and now I just don't want to pay for them. Which is not the case. So, if I don't pay them a substantial amount of money, they will suspend my service. I am definitely not paying for something that I didn't do or legitimately don't owe to them, or anyone else. Do you know if using the same method that is used to easily hack into any android could be modified to alter the source code that locks the device to a carrier? I don't mean specifically, better said, has anyone tried using Kali Linux , with metasploit/ Wireshark to get into an android and establish permissions, then try change the source code related to carrier locking?

Thank you for taking the time to reply, I appreciate it
No worries, it's not an uncommon issue.
Nothing I'm aware of can be done to unlock it using Odin or anything like that. You might explore the other options, but I know nothing about them. Search the forums here and you'll find a lot that ask about unlocking. There is a discussion in one about services. Might give you a direction to go and check in.
Here's the rub. If it is not paid off and you want to take it to another service, you're going to have a bad time.
If they close your account and you don't pay them money (especially paying off the phone), then they will blacklist the IMEI and NO CARRIER will ever be able to activate it on their network. Blocked IMEI's, there is no way to flash anything or root whatever or unlock anything that will get you to have it active on a service carrier until the originator has it removed from the blacklist.
I think that is going to be your biggest hurdle trying to take it to another provider.
VZW should automatically unlock it after 60 days if you bought it from them. If third party purchase, 60 days after activated.
Unlockboot.com P.S your phone will go straight to collections unless you pay it off the proper way
Most people wouldn't give info on how to unlock it because it's unethical. It's doable but the phone price will go to collections.
Hey, I am exactly in the same boat. I night s Verizon Fold 3 from someone on craigslist, they told me it was fully paid for, later I found out that it was not. Also it was not unlocked after 60 days. I know the phone cannot be used in the US, but I just want to unlock it for international use.
Did you guys found a solution? Same as Mjatta, i got f*cked on eBay, the even post that accepted returns, but got no response, and eBay didn't help either.
If anybody have a solution for this please reply I am also having the same issue and I can't even contact Verizon because I am in Nigeria.
I hope a paid service will be available soon for this to help owners who are not in the USA

You're just out of luck. There isn't anything anyone here can do. You will just have to bite the bullet and take the hit on the phone and get another one. It's going to get blacklisted as soon as it's in collections and no carrier's network, that is legitimate, will activate the device.
