Brodit Passive Holder and Windshield Mount for the USA?
I'm looking for the Brodit passive holder for the JasJar and a compatible windshield mount with an adjustable goose-neck, I'm in the US. www.proclipusa.com doesn't appear to carry either, although I understand they are the US distributor.
Anyone, any ideas where I can get these?

I am looking for one in the USA as well. Proclip USA claims that they will have the Passive holder soon, but haven't gotten a definitive answer from them. None of the UK shops appear to be able to ship outside of the US, so I guess we are stuck waiting for Proclip USA to get them. Because the Jasjar is not really a USA device, I'm sure they are not in any hurry to get them in.

Heh heh, nice find!!
So how does this clip function.
Do you slide the Universal in, or do you kind of clip it in.
Is the power cord attached to the clip and you just slide it down in to the usb port, or is the wire just dangling all over the place when it's not connected.
I hate multi action holders and dont want something where i have to use both hands and a foot to get it in place.
I go in and out of my car many times a day, so it should be easy and without hassle.
I can live with the fact that i have to use a BT GPS, even though i love my BA holder having the GPS integrated, ooohh and what other choises are there out there.....none :?
Like you, bosjo, I've become accustomed to having my bluetooth GPS receiver powered via a wired link to my old M2000 active cradle. Having juice supplied to both M2000 and BT GPS meant I could never get lost.
I'm hoping in due course these Brodit M5000 cradles will also allow power to be supplied to BT GPS otherwise it's going to be a mess of wires in my car!

Damn it twonk - JUST ordered my clip and active holder and then read this post....stupid stupid me.
Anyway - was only £2 more.
The cheapest Brodit ProClip I could find was http://www.carkitonline.co.uk
£17.12 total (13.62 on its own) so pretty good!
CarKitOnline have got O2 Exec holders in and is actually cheaper than HandNav - you need to phone them because the phone is not listed on the website yet.
Coming up to three weeks now waiting for my active holder from mobilefun
Avoid like the black death in my personal opinion
Why dont you just call them and ask them what their problem is. Did they mention that the delivery time is less than that? I am sure ordering from Brodit direct would have been much better.
Yeah they do seem a bit unresponsive...they sent me out a screen protector and a cigarette adapter within a day but my leather case and brodit holder is still 'out of stock'. I phoned them and they gave me a date of 18th...so try phoning them and they will tell you when more stock is coming in.
IN the end i cancelled my brodit holder from them and brought it from handnav (who were supplying the clip anyway) for cheaper .
Still waiting for the leather case though..........
Unversaldoc - how much is the brodit holder direct from them? Surely they will charge more!!
They keep saying stock is arriving, that date comes and no stock, same again this morning, think i was told new stock was coming on 16th Dec and another lot coming 19th Dec so i should definitely have it before the 21st.
Best bit is you pay postage for 2-3 day delivery muuuhaaahaaha
Trouble is the wifes bought me it on her plastic as a stocking filler so i dont want to bug her for her card again, you know how they growl
Hi All,
I sell the Brodit kits and know that Brodit had a severe quality control issue with the charging leads on the active charging cradles, which meant they had to go back to the drawing board and get new leads shipped in from their supplier, hence long delays.
I still have stocks of the all Xda Brodit ranges inc. the Exec in stock if anyone is interested. Please PM me.
Seems a shame that no one told you all of the delay though.

@Cut,
Costs around £60 for the holder and the pro-clip not including delivery costs. I agree, they are expensive compared to the other resellers but they are dependable and have fantastic support. Personally, i wouldn't mind paying the extra £10 just for the quality of support and feedback

Nice
I'm going to need one of these when my Artemis arrives within a couple of days. Not sure but i think that it comes with a holder for the car in the box. Anyway just wanted to say that you should stay away from the holders that attach to the heating vents of the car. My unlce who works for Cisco Systems told me that they have been flagged by his company because it apparently is not good for the device. Not sure if this is true but just wanted to give this community a heads up on this one. I say you go for the suction holders.

The P3300 comes with a car holder, which looks very much like the brodit holders oddly enough...
Also comes with a windcreen suction mount and a natty HTC car charger (witch shiny chrome HTC embossed on it)
You only get the car charger, windscreen mount and 512MB Transflash card with the Premium version (this is the one with full TomTom mapping included) - well thats what the manual states, I got all three "extras" with mine - Mike
I didn't get any accessories with my device. I just got the base unit with the manuals, etc. I need a car mount.

Perjan, thanks for the heads up. For £40 i would be expecting top build quality.
Brodit holder for UK O2 XDA Orbit
The Orbit is basically an Artemis with a redesigned shell....
Does anyone know if the Orbit will fit into an Artemis / Brodit holder?
Cheers
Chris
hi
the orbit usb port is located slightly differently to the P3300 i believe it is only millimeters out but could make a difernence. I heard Brodit were making a holder specific to the Orbit for that reason.
Re comments above about vent holders i used one for 2 years with a IPAQ 5550 and had no issues at all.(infact in the summer it was a bonus as the ai con helped keep the device cool)
I find they are not so suitable for the Orbit as the clip/holder that is stuck to the device is not Orbit friendly.and if i use the clip that came with the Pdair case it hangs forward.
i use a suction mount with the side grip bars and it works great with the PDair case.
Well I have the brodit mount for the Artemis and it works well with the Orbit. It arrived after I read this post and I was aware it might not fit exactly so I gently bent the connector on the mount and it now fits perfectly and I am more than happy with it.
I am now just awaiting the brodit pro clip to attach it to the dashboard over the air vent. As I do not want to leave the screen mounted holder in the car due to last attempted break in!
Just to confirm only gentle pressure is needed to align the connection to fit perfectly to the Orbit so well worth the money in my opinion.

Cases for car-holders, or car-holders for cases!

Hi,
Ordered my Orbit, and looking forward to it - may have finally got an XDA that I'll keep long term. Have had II, IIi, S, mini, Exec, so it would be nice if so!
My first post for a while - as usually the info I want I can find in a search. Except this one!
I'd really like a case for the Orbit - either a skin-type, or the alum' one. However I also need a car holder for it, with tough UK no-mobile-phones in cars rules insisting on this. Ideally one with a power speaker & mic, like the up-coming Seidio.
The question - does anyone know of a case/car holder combo that works together without having to remove the PDA from the case? I know you can get the cases with a magnetic back and corresponding holder, however would rather avoid this approach if possible.
Oh - and just to clarify, the case needs to still be pocket sized, so the usual large clip things sticking out the back will be no good. Maybe someone has "invented" their own solution? I figure the alum' one is modifiable, so am thinking that may be the best bet - just need some ideas for mounting! (esp' bearing in mind would like a active powered holder).
Thanks all!
I think you will struggle to find an active mount with speaker due to the audio output being part of the mini USB connector on these devices.
Take a look at Brodit 848714 for a passive holder or Brodit 968714 for an active version (charging only). These are just the holders, you will need a Pro-Clip to suit your vehicle, I also recommend a "Move it" clip between the Pro-Clip and the holder, it makes removal quick and efficiant, leaving just the small pro-clip in the vehicle (less chance of some low-life breaking in because a mount is on show). - These are quality holders, not the cheapest, but then do you want your new toy flying around the car due to a crappy mount?
For the audio output you could use Bluetooth - I have had my Artemis connected via BT and playing through the car stereo, a little low in volume but the quality was very good - Mike
Cheers Mike,
I've already got the brodit system - used it with both the IIi and S, so have the bracket etc. The brodit holders will not allow for any type of case (skin, alum, etc) - and I cannot see how to modify them to suit. The brodit bracket itself is just a platform, so have used with many other holders.
The Seidio case I refered to is (yet to be released):
http://www.handnav-hosting.co.uk/product_details.php?id=2373
I guess what I'm hoping for is a brand that makes a case, plus a compatible car holder that supplies at least power.
Worse case I'll most likely get alum pdair case, stick a magnet to the back, and just plug in a charge cable each time (and use bluetooth car-kit).
Thanks,
My solution
I have a siemens hcw600 bluetooth car kit - works superbly if you install jetware and the address book swap. DId this on my Mini S and now on my new Orbit...
I also got a standatd multi-way pda adapter off eby... if you get one with adjustable feet on the bottom, put the Orbit in, connect the usb, then slide the feet tight up to the usb... then add a few strategic drops of superglue to the feet and usb, and you have a fixed connector... this also works if the unit is i a case - just make sure its in the case and positioned before you clue the usb to the holder....
Great sounding tip - may give that a go! I did notice that the Orbit is now thin (width) enough to fit lots of mobile phone holders on their widest setting.
Going to review one of these new PDAHut mounts in the mean time.... Will let you know what it's like.

Mountek Car 'CD Slot' Mobile Phone Holder For Sale (UK)

MOUNTEK MT5000
What is it?
The revolutionary MOUNTEK MT5000 car holder will hold virtually any small portable electronic device (up to 4.3" or 110mm), such as cellular phones, GPS receivers, satellite radio players and more! It uses NO suction cups, NO clips, NO screws, and it requires NO tools. Best part, it won't obstruct your view of the road. This one installs directly into your CD player slot or in between the grooves of your dash.
And in case you are wondering, the plastic blade is not long enough to activate the auto loading function of your CD Player or cause any damage.
Read more on the Mountek site.
If it's so great, why am I selling it?
I purchased this mobile phone (or gps) holder based upon the raving reviews on various forums and Amazon.com and the fact that I never use my CD Player. It arrived today and I must say, it truly is a quality holder with a very clever, yet simple, design. However, my car radio is recessed quite a bit into the dash which means that the holder won't slot into my CD slot . Gutted as I have to carry on making do with my vent holder.
Read reviews on Amazon.com and search the forum for reviews from fellow members too.
How much?
So, here it is for sale, already imported from the USA, brand new and packaged at £20.00 incl. p&p.
VERY interesting, looks like a great position for the phone to be at also. single-din players may suffer from being blocked though lol
wonder if this is going to come over here....or will the knockoffs arrive first. heh.

There's a thread in the car dock area, but I will say I have one and it's pretty nice. It'll depend on your dashboard though.
It will obviously block the controls above the cd slot - if those are important to you, then that's a problem. (it's not for me, and I rather like this holder).
- Frank
I got mine in yesterday, and it works great! I will get a pic of it tomorrow and post it. Bought it on Amazon, $20. I actually placed it in a CD changer, and not in my main stereo. It doesn't budge at all.
Still available.
Apologies for not checking my PM's to those of you who were interested in this before, bugger! Will setup email alerts now. So, this is still available and would make a fabulous Christmas present as well .
I'll take it!
Yup... been looking for one today. Just PM'ed you...
Sold. To a guy who only lived 20min away. Small world!

No custom ProClip planned for HTC 10

I asked ProClip if they were making a clip for the HTC 10. This was their response...
Thank you for contacting us and for your interest in ProClip products.
Unfortunately, due to the extremely large number of devices released every year, we cannot make holders for them all.
Currently there are no plans to make a holder for the HTC 10. However, this may change depending on customer demand going forward.
We can add your name to our list of customers who are interested in this holder. If we get a large enough response we may reconsider making a holder for your device.
In the meantime we do have several adjustable holders that may work for your device.
You can find those items here: ProClip Universal Holders - http://www.proclipusa.com/mobile-device-holders/universal-holders/universal-phone-holders.aspx
Each product page has the dimensions the holder will accommodate. Please take good measurements of your device with any case you might be using; this will help you to select the best ProClip Universal holder for your device.
Please feel free to contact us with any other questions you may have.
Best Regards,

I'm not saying ProClip is good or bad. They are really expensive, but I'm a bit obsessed with their clip for my car that snaps into the dash and provides a solid mounting point just above the vent. My M8 always overheats with my current setup with a windshield mount. I tried a vent style mount, but it just doesn't stay put in the vent.
I love ProClip and have been using them in my vehicles since my Droid Incredible days.
They always say this response up until they release the product. My guess with a phone like the 10, they will definitely launch one. Just hang tough
+1. Considering there is an article on the HTC 10 on the Proclip blog, I'd be surprised if they didn't come out with one. Also, it may be more useful to ask Brodit directly. Brodit designs the holders and then it becomes available via Proclip here.
Just emailed Brodit UK re an HTC 10 mount and this was the reply:
Brodit are going to manufacture one and this will be available around 4 weeks after Brodit receive a device. As the handset is due for release in May I would expect these to be available at the beginning of June.
I will add your details to the list of customers who are interested in a holder for the HTC 10 and will update you when these are available.

Sweet. Do these ever get cheaper? Is there any history of a sale when a new part comes out?
I took an old proclip non-case holder from an older HTC phone (kickstand one) that was too tight heated it with a hair drier and expanded it with a C-clamp, perfect fit.
Edit: Brodit Item No. 511403
I've had Proclip in my various cars and for various phones.. A suggestion would be instead of purchasing the custom holder for the phone we have, would be to buy the universal holder. I've used the universal holder for a Nexus 5, moto x 2013/2014, OnePlus 1+2, Nexus 6, Nexus 6p, HTC m8, and LG g4 in no particular order :silly:, and all fit perfectly! The only thing that needs to be custom is the mount that fits onto your dash!

Is this confirmed information?
I emailed Brodit SE a week ago, asking the same thing.
Their answer:
- Som det ser ut nu så har vi inget planerat till denna enhet.
In English:
- As it looks now, we have nothing planned for this unit.
Well, that was a copy of the message they sent me. Not sure how I can confirm that it is correct info.... I hope it is correct otherwise I will order a universal mount from them.
Yeah, I got a similar response from Brodit SE a bit over 3 weeks ago.
They're "looking into it" but can't promise anything, said he'll inform the product manager (eg add another one interested on the list).
If Brodit doesn't make one, I'll probably look into RAM Mount. (edit: not the x-grip of course..)
I just use an iottie mount myself..
maybe there is usb c proclip mount for another device that may fit.
i use an adjustable iPhone 6 clip... it works well. Use on my Nexus 5X as well, just loosen, adjust and retighten.
I'm using this. Perfect for my needs.

Thanks for the tip. I've ordered one of these from Amazon and will check it out. I have a Spigen A201 mag mount vent type and it just falls out of the vent in my Prius. Hopefully the Airsnap will hold better. The Prius (gen2) vent pivots both horizontally and vertically so it's a bit of a crap shoot but I figure maybe one of the support clip things will help to stabilize it.
The good news is the strong magnet doesn't appear to affect the HTC 10 like it did the M8. The M8 would trigger the Dotview case mode, but the HTC 10 Iceview sensor seems to be very low on the phone so putting the mag mount in the center doesn't trigger it.
