I got headache to choose, to keep my rom up to date!I'm still using custel 2.5. A lot of newer roms nowadays. Very positive growth.... Custel 2.5, Elf 2.1, Faria, Black 3.5 With Live Removed and Extra Storage, Black Dymond, vp3G's, LVSW, dutty's v2. and so many . Give me advice please.
Well duh, mine of course!
Seriously though, one of the best things about this place is so many ROMs to choose from. Each has it's merits (and it's quirks!). Just pick one, try it on and see how it fits you.
P.S. You missed one flavor in your list. Sleuth255 has put together a very nice LVSW variant as well. When in doubt, check the WIKI. I just updated it today, in fact.
Last weeks I installed almost all of them and (non-scientifically!) benchmarked their performance... See my post: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=1284362&postcount=15
My conclusion: they all are stabile and have more or less the same performance (I think because they have more or less the same core.... sorry chiefs).
The one you could pick is the one with the extra's and addons you want...
My personal experience: LVSW Sleuth edition is very good!
At the moment I'm trying Faria..
i tried every rom (including black dymond). when it comes to stability, nothing compares to lvsw and the derivates. i use elf 2.1. nice combination of features, working bt, fast and STABLE.
what i dont need is a pimp machine with soft reset every two hours...

I think mine is the best.. Actually, mine is unique in how it's built. I did cook some minor (and vital) things into the rom itself, but most is added via. ExtRom customization with all cab's modified to allow removal So, if you want Live, it's there. If you don't, just remove it. etc.. It's a different way to cook, and one that requires a whole lot of CAB modification.
My Live cab is different than any other cab on this site. I hand modified it to install in the way I wanted, and work the way I wanted. Personally, I think it's the best cab around -- and exclusively for Elf 2.1.
thank you. Very good benchmarking and very hard work! I'll try LVSW Sleuth edition.
I have used Elf 1.0 . It is very nice and marvelous build. But I got problem with battery charging. Then I tried black dymond and faria yesterday. But I have to go back to CUSTEL, because I feel more stable and more memory. Just now I tried Black 3.5 With Live Removed and Extra Storage and now I test Elf 2.1.

I like my ROM.
CUSTEL still won Program and memory space. Faria, LVSW Sleuth edition and Elf 2.1 won the speed. LSLW based won the most stable. Which one do you prefer most? Do you agree with this conclusion?
Elf V2.1 works for me
I haven't tried all so I can't compare. Indeed I have only flashed my JASJAM yesterday for the first time with Elf V2.1. So far it has been working great for me. For those who has been hesitating to take the plunge, I would say read the WIKI. Make sure you know what you are doing. Then do it. I did that and I am a happy man. And I am sure many of these ROMs are all great. We (and MS) are lucky to have this great community to support this WM platform.
Cheers.
I agree with you. Their hard works are very great. Everybody in this forum and out there can't deny this.
LVSW 19-05-2007 Sleuth edition and Elf2.1 are very nice to try. So I test Elf 2.1 first. Sleuth still on downloading... rapidshare got a little bit slow.
cool topic
What a great thread to read peoples summary experiences. This kind of thread would have been previously scoffed at with ' go read for yourself ' replies by some that have left this forum except to throw the odd spot remark.
I am currently using FARIA after trying some of the Black and LVSW variants. I like FARIA a lot because of the addin utils, and am not concerned about only 20Mb free after boot. I make calls and use TomTom, not much more.
The MAJOR thing that I like about FARIA is that now my car charger works, whereas all the other ROMs didn't allow the car charger to work - go figure!
Thanks to all the contributors and chefs who hold true and know when to reply and when to ignore some of the less experienced users questions. Its about COMMUNITY, not superiority. Thanks, and may your sheep be blessed with a thousand lambs.
I like FARIA especially on startup, date/time finishing and speed. But it's addons take much memory so I have to reset so many times especially after using MAPKING and WIFI. I'll like FARIA if it a lite version with an option addons.
Hi,
I think tom and meschle should join forces, making a fast, well performing (meschle) rom with good applications with an awesome GUI (tom).
Tom's roms always have amazing bootscreens, themes, and an overall very nice GUI, whilst they lack performance.
Meschle's roms always perform well and are very fast, but they lack the visual aattractiveness as Tom's roms.
Therefore, combining the two would produce an all rounded super rom!
What do you all think?
you can do it, you re the man!
no not me, meschle and tom!
Agreed. But there would still have to be some compromises made as rom can't be 100% as beautiful as Tom's and 100% fast as Meschle's.
Whats wrong with the new Vanilla ? It is just perfect...
Just install HtcHome or what you prefer for your design change bootscreen if you like.
Can it be better ? I guess not
can't find the keyboard icon and skin as in B&B
I don't qgree with you uzzy.
First of all, they are not the only coockers.
More, everybody has its own style: you mention the main difference between these two one but the purpose is to have everybody having its onw "touch" in roms.
Even if it is WM, the coockers are not MS

I agree with you this sener.
I think it would be a lot more effective if we filles the wiki with so much useful information that everybody could cook his own ROMs. The only thing we might need is a kitchen with a better gui. I used both of their ROMs and like both for the stated reasons. Since I couldn't decide which to use I cooked my own ROM.
You'll have to spend about 50 hours of reasearch to be able to create your own version if you are a beginner, with a little help and a lot of computer experience you can handle it in 2 hours or less.
Fast and super stylish won't work, compare XP and Vista!

If you don't like it you don't have to use it, but why deny other people the opportunity to experience something new?
Just because you don't like the idea, doesn't mean you have use your first post ever to stop tom and meschle making a rom together......its their choice, not yours.
And also, where did i say they are the only cookers? - I didn't, so why say "First of all, they are not the only coockers". This fact is totally irrelevant.
I mentioned Tom and Meschle because they are the BEST cookers for Artemis (Not the only ones).
Oh and btw, learn to spell.
Well, they are the best cookers in this forum that publish their work. I'm pretty sure there are guys (or girls?) out there that laugh about the beginner mistakes people are making here.
I'm not saying that I'm better than any other cooker out there, but I never published any ROM for legal reasons and because I don't want 1000 questions/answers for each ROM I produce. No thanx, don't got the time.

I agree on this one!!
If somebody could provide a good kitchen with a better GIU, I would be able to learn to cook myself.
Now I just don't know how to start... you need to read/combine several threads to be able to get the info you need to start to learn...
If just some of those master cookers, can make a decent guide for us, we'll be able to do it ourselfs...
Hopefully one day somebody would do this guide and kitchen with a better gui, cause I really hope I can learn to cook
Believe me, cooking is not very difficult, (in my opinion) the Artemis' Wiki is crap if you are a beginner and want to learn to cook. I recently found out how this works and was amazed how fast you can cook a ROM. I'm currently busy at University but next week my tests are over and I will start creating my tutorials with pictures and videos.
You need HyperCoreKitchen, OK Package Creator and a official ROM, that's it. As soons as you know how to do it you can create your own ROM in minutes. I'll make a big thread out of it, you won't miss it.
I don't want to offend those who have spent a lot of time creating tutorials and writing into the wiki (thanx for your work guys!), but there are almost no all-in-one tutorials. I read in the Kaiser, Hermes, Artemis and some other wikis and forums to get all the informations I needed. Basically if you read the Hermes Cookbook and use OK Package Creator instead of doing all the package stuff it states there then you know what to do.

If you had searched you would have found ...... this quite accessible ... the only ROM that comes with one is .... this ...
But I think you need to do a fair bit more reading and searching before you go ahead and flashing stuff if you think touchflo is a ROM
Hehehe, thanks alot Zocster...Believe it or not, i did actually search and ive been reading alot of posts! Im not 1 of those forum idiots who randomly posts messages without reading anything...
However, i am TOTALLY new to this world! I decided to ditch the trusty old cell phone and move to a pocket pc/pda phone whatever you wanna call it I have decided on a TyTN and am now getting into the world of cooked ROMs and all the stuff you guys know all about
Im learning!!!

I seeI have an imate jasjam, so yeah you have a front camera I presume you would want to make video calls too then, so may be that ROM i mentioned not for you as it doesn't have video calling dial pad cooked in.
To be brutally honest, Ive had a Sony Ericsson K800i for a year and a half now and have NEVER used the video calling feature Our networks are rather unstable and its expensive, so why bother Im just looking for a fast, reliable ROM

Welcome by the way .. saw it was your second post oh by the way, go the wallabies, even though i live in new zealand! hehe .. and this is for the trinations!
Much obliged Zocster!!!
Thanks alot for your help...I know that forum noobs are often ignored or flamed lol!!!
The problem i have is being a complete newcomer to this stuff...I honestly dont know where to start, I was hoping there would be a poll with "your favorite ROM" or something, then at least id have somewhere to start

Sorry mate, honestly, ... trying it yourself is the only way you can judge, read the wiki, and try out different roms, as i said what is good for me may not be good for you. So go try them all out and make up your mind from experience. I have had my phone for two months and I have been through honestly about 20 or so roms before i made up my mind, each chefs have got their own style and yeah you need to determine what style suits you.
Thanks alot, will definitely do so
One more question...In my research on the P4350 which uses the 200mhz OMAP cpu, i read that there is an app to overclock (and declock) the device, does the TyTN have a similar app??

If you want to keep your device for another couple of years, then no, it is not recommended. it is doable, but it would not be doing your device any favour.
Well since the reviews i read all said the TyTN is powerful enough, im actually more interested in declocking the device when i dont need the power, to save battery life

hmm, you need to try the roms available, and once you get applications such as BT GPS, BT Stereo, MP3 etc going, plus the touchflo extension you mentioned, it ain't all that powerful.
These chefs have done their best to make the most out of a device that is 2 years old. so ... yeah it isn't that powerful, but yes you will determine that when you have run a couple of things on the hermes have fun, ...
Starbase has the cab on his 4shared site. I have had it before, but find it useless, the touchflo that schaps has is better for finger scrolling and quick landscape mode switches however.
Good to see more South Africans here. (From South Africa myself). As Zocster said, just try the roms out. Been flashing my TyTN at least once a week. Just remember to Hard-SPL first.

lol thanks guys!!!
Been reading the guides and the wikis, will definitely hardSPL first
first of all make hardspl ! it is the first thing you need to flash into your tytn....what you meen about -toch flo- ? many component may be instaled on any rom. personaly I use 3ppc.net russian 6.1 rom, whith htc home today plugin (one part of tochflo) included. for finger scroling I use ftochFlo, cube not use at all - personaly I found it useless....(anyway - there are some custom cube on 'hacking and developing' section of developers, as for me it much better than original.)
about overclock. sumsung procesors (which use tytn) is wery bad in frequency control. looks like time generator somehow connected whith main frequency - when you changing it, a lot of bugs appear....for example - if you overclocked cpu, you will notice that music/video/e.t.c. will run more fast that it needed. no need to worry about cpu power consumtion - it low anyway for samsung cpu. much more buttary will eat 3g, wifi, backlight e.t.c.
Hello,
Sadly after reading last FinixOver post, I realized, that there are no more WWE Rom cookers for the Trinity.
-Akeo broke device and went to Diamond.
-Tnyynt also changed to Diamond.
-Finixover I think is aso on the way to Diamond.
-eliasweb long time no update
-karmba_a also bought diamond
Our only options right now are PDAViet, which personally I don't like.
Maybe there's someone out there willing to start cooking??
Or should we all move to diamond's aswell
best regards to all.
This is shocking news! but i can understand why, the dimond seems brilliant, i had my 1st look the other day and it has amazing features like the G sensor, wow and the graphics.
I wish all the old cookers the best of luck with the Dimond because they have all done an AMAZING job with the trinnity and I am very thankful for all their hard work and time.
Bring on the next generation cookers!
I'm trying to cook but it's a litle diferant of my Roms on Prophet hihi.
i'm studyng the manuals of cooking on a Trinity because i've changed recently from Prophet

Good luck on Trintiy cooking. I'm sure that you will master it, I used a few of your Prophet roms and really liked them.
Welcome.
For those of you who think about purchasing a Touch Diamond I would like to tell you two things.
-Battery life sucks,if you thought the battery in your trinity doesn´t last.....get ready to charge your diamond almost everyday or day and a half.
-Poor/Low signal.
Been using the Trinity for the last year and half. Very happy with the features.
Now time to move on, will not choose Diamond. This time need one with QWERT keyboard as quite often need to write/reply email on the go.
Hey, what you guys thinks of Touch Pro??? Any good in terms of battery life, speed, GPS reception?

HI,
I use Diamond from one month and I can say that:
1. Signal is very good (I use oryginal radio 1.25.05),
2. Battery is really weak. Max two days keeps without charging,
3. looks excellent, very small compare to trynity,
4. better lcd etc.
So bros may time to change your mobiles?
I used trynity almost one year and and I thing that is very good mobile.
Cheers

it would be nice to come up with a rom like this one you made here
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=382434 for trinity
my opinion
I would cook if I had a device but I havn't been able to find a cheep second hand trinity yet.
I made a try that did boot but havn't gotten back to give it an other try.
All i can say is that i will miss all these developers and can't thank them enough for all the hard work they have done for us...all of you.
One other thing....MAXNIPER WHEN DO U START COOKING DUDE???
just saw your Prophet Rom and i am just waiting for your first release to flash my trinity...Nice work on the Prophet and hope you do the same here...
Before my companion with Trinity for one year, I used Palm Treo 650 for one year.
I like Treo 650's operating speed and qwerty keyboard to write sms and email. But WM OS has so many up-to-date software to use, so I changed to Trinity, considering its basic WM function and GPS.
Now, if no one continue to cook Trinity roms, I really don't know which mobile I should change to. I don't think Diamond has any significant innovative function, except its shell.
I appreciate all the great works of rom cookers, especially FInixNOver coz I am using it now. I am satisfied with Trinity till now.
okay so i am recently changing over from android. and i understand i can have best of both worlds on this phone. if anybody would be kind enough to tell me how do i get android on my phone. and also how do you install roms. i really like the energy-roms. links to these items would be greatly appreciated. thanks guys. im a noob at this so please bear with me im new to windows phone. thanks & God Bless.

by the way. are you using a rom? if you are which one are you using and is there another that you recoomend me to use?
Thank you. Hope your next few days are filled with joy. God Bless.
Well generally what say is what most will say, after you have used the Hard sPL unlocker, i would recommend a simple Rom that has been stripped of all the bloat ware, to get a feel for the speed and responsiveness , then after you get bored with it, then try the other Roms that the fine chef have cooked.
Here is what i have been using, its simple and fast
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=811121
Kwbr is getting ready to update the Rom shortly with a newer version.
thanks i was getting stuff ready for when i my parents got me my phone this chirstmas. turns out the got me a unlocked HD2. so im guessing it works the same, since they both run windows 6.5 right?
I would head over to the HD forum and start reading, some may be the same but there will be differences ...i would still set up both phones with stock stripped Roms and compare them both...i still favor the Tilt 2 Pro... because of the keyboard
http://www.infosyncworld.com/review...Tilt+2&name2=&name3=&name4=HTC+HD2+(T-Mobile)
Read this thread then decide....tilt 2 has 3g the HD2 uses edge..
