Telephone - MDA III, XDA III, PDA2k, 9090 General

I have a problem,
Every time we have finished talking on the phone and the other person hangs up, our phone screen switches off.
We have to press the power button to get the screen back and make sure that the call is ended.
Is this a default on the XDA IIs and can it be changed.
Please help it is driving us nuts.
Maid

does it happen if the screen was off when you were called or when the screen was on (ie. you were using it) or both?

It happens when the screen is on or off.
Thanks

powerbutton application

Does anyone know of an app that changes the behaviour of the powerbutton? I keep activating the screen while it's in my pocket...
Not possible, and how the hel you manage to turn it on all the time?!?
Never happened to me!
perhaps my button is more sensetive? I think it happens when I put it in my pocket, when I push it down I either touch it with my finger, or if the phone is upside down, it gets pressed down against the bottom of the pocket. Sometimes I think I press the button when I take the phone out of my pocket.
I have noticed it's turned on when I take it out, and once it even took a photo.... I tried the LockBot app, but it seems it doesn't work every time, so I had to return to the standard. I might try to get the paid version, when/if I get that option at any time.
So, I'd like to have an app that would change the powerbutton. E.g. hold it down for 2 sec, click it twice, or something, to activate the screen.

[Q] keep screen off during a call?

does anyone know of a way or an app to keep the screen off and stay off during a call unless i hit the button to turn the screen on? the proximity sensor sucks and at least once a week i end up muting someone with my cheek without knowing it and it ends up being the 2 of us screaming "CAN YOU HEAR ME?!??! HELLO!??!? HELLO!!??!?!" ... as a matter of fact my girlfriend has it way worse with her g2. her proximity sensor is horrible and she's always putting me on hold, mute or hanging up on them.
my ideal situation (and i will love you forever if you tell me a way or an app to do this) would be if the screen turns off and stays off when on a call, but when you hit the screen on button, it bypasses the lock screen (a totally unnecessary step when you're in a call and would have had to hit a physical button on the top of the phone itself to get the screen on) and turns the screen on, ready to do whatever it is you need to do in the middle of a call.
thanks everyone.
Yeah, hit the power button once and the screen will turn off during your call.

but won't my face going against and away from the sensor eventually make the screen turn back on at some point? i haven't specifically monitored my attempts to try that, but i'm sure i've done it before and it didn't last thru the call. or it did one time and not another or something.
Works for me.

just tried that today and as soon as you take the phone away from your face the screen comes back on (so if you moved it away for a second then back, you've got a phone with a turned on screen right up against your face)
I have the same problem. I do it all the time. Suddenly can't here someone only to realize they are on hold. I'd love some sort of solution or work around as well.

[Q] screen not turning off

Strange issue
a new samsung s4 mini, stock rom.
the screen will not turn off. whenever it enters sleep mode, the screen blacks out for a second, then turns back on.
this happens when it goed to sleep automatically, or when pressing the powerbutton
tried factory reset, same problem (no extra programs installed)
installed a wakelock ap, but that does not really show a reason why it should be turning on?
Anyhting obvious i am missing, or should i just return this to the dealer.

Have you installed any app like "Screen ON"?
I ve got this problem from time to time, when I lock the phone it wakes up for 5s and then turns the screen off although I have had twice the situation where the screen was on all the time till I pressed off button again...strange.
Had this problem long time ago with Note 1 and somebody said that the phone wakes up if it looses the signal and searching for it again......
dont know......
Im not really sure but might as well try.
Have you turned on Daydream ?
You can find it in Settings 》My Device 》 Display
Make sure it is off.
If that hasnt worked, if you have a cover on take it off and then see if you still have that problem. Maybe the cover is too tight and its presing on a button.
If that doesnt work, then now lets turn off Smart Stay. Swipe down your notification bar and look for Smart Stay and turn it off.
If none of these have worked then I'm not sure :/
Hope your problems gets fixed.

[Q] Screen randomly turns off after KitKat update (Note2)

I was browsing through the forum to see if anyone has a similar problem, but this doesn't appear to be the case.
Since I updated my Note 2 (UAE version) to 4.3, my screen keeps turning off completely randomly (even when in the cradle). It just goes blank. Now - the phone doesn't go to sleep and I know that because if I play video, it still keeps playing (I hear the audio). When the screen goes off, I then need to push power button to turn off the screen and turn it on. If the video is playing, pushing the power button will of course lock the screen, so I actually first need to push home button to get out of the video, then power button to turn off the screen and then power button again to turn it on.
Am I explaining this well? So, the problem is not that the phone goes to standby, the problem is that the screen stops functioning and i need to push power button to put it into standby and then back from standby.
It is completely random - I can sometime work on the phone for hour and nothing will happen, and sometime it will happen after few minutes. It doesn't matter what I am doing, whether playing video, browsing web, checking email etc.
Anyone with a similar problem? Anyone, class, anyone? Bueller? Bueller?

Phone Call Problem!

My RN5P(IND),suffers from a problem that annoys me.
When I make calls or receive calls, the screen automatically shuts down and it wont turn back on again, even if you tap the screen, press the buttons present on the phone. You cant cut the call either. It happens 40% most of the time. Then after a moment only the screen lightens up.
What do I do and do others experience this?

May be it's due to a problem in Proximity sensor.
