The best RSS reader for WM6?

I've been looking for an RSS aggregator for my new Dash, and I was wondering if anyone has anything they are already using and can recommend. I've gone through what's on handango, and I can't say that I've been impressed much with what they have to offer. Any comments on strength's/weaknesses would be very much appreciated!

I ended up going with Ilium Software's Newsbreak. Sure, it costs money, but it's hardly disappoints when it comes to features. The ability to import OPML files is really nice. I've been using it for the last day, and I'm really impressed with it so far.

Hi all,
I'm hoping someone may be able to help me with this...
Can anybody recommend a decent, free RSS reader for WM6? I have an HTC 620, previously with WM5 and used Avantgo, which worked admirably. I have now upgraded to WM6 and can't seem to find a decent RSS Reader which aggregates full articles / text, as Avantgo does not supprt WM6.
I have tried various including NewsMix, SplashNews and Viigo, but they all either seem to download just the first few lines of each article with a 'read more' section that then connects to the internet (setting sof 'NO limit' on article size doesn't make any difference), or connect to the internet automatically when I would like to manually connect, using my home Wi-Fi, to update the feeds and then disconnect the Wi-Fi and know that all of the full articles are stored on my device, so I don't have to use my data connection again.
Ideally, I would like to use the RSS section of Yahoo Go 2.0 which is installed on my S620, but this seems to update the news feeds automatically, when I would like to do this manually.
If anyone can help, it really will be much appreciated.

I have been using Newsbreak for a while now and think this is the best rss reader. With Newsbreak not the entire article is downloaded and you have to connect ot get the entire document however at least you get most of it and if the story is worthwhile then connecting for a few seconds is worth it.
Try it and download a trial version from Handago.com

i agree, newsbreak is the best. you can even set up filters so you get only the articles you want.

I have bought SPBInsigt and I am satisfied with functionalities in this application.

Newsbreak sounds like a good one, but I really need something that has full RSS articles and not just the first section, as I tend to use RSS Feeds which I have manually added and so like to read full articles.
SPB Insight sounds like it's the sort of thing I am after, but it's a commercial product. Not that I am tight or anything, but i would have thought that what I am after would be freely available somewhere. Oh well, guess i wil give the trial a go.
If anyone else has any more good recommendations, they will be very much approeciated.

I use Viigo and I'm very satisfied with it. It's free too.

I use BeyondPod (http://www.beyondpod.mobi/). It's a free, open source feed reader and podcatcher. It requires Microsoft .NET CF 2.

I like the one which comes on the Samsung Blackjack. You can probably find in here somewhere.

The >absolute< best is Newsgator Go! It syncs with your other Newsgator services, like the free web-based newsreader or their desktop client. At $29.95, I feel it's a bit overpriced, but once you get used to having the status of your RSS subscriptions updated regardless of where you access them, including your phone, you might find it's worth it. Also, if you subscribe to MoDaCo Plus, you get a >ton< of free stuff included in the subscription -- Newsgator Go! is one of the software products you get, along with Papyrus, Resco File Explorer, and a bunch of others.

Has anyone seen an RSS reader which installs a url plugin? E.g. if you click on an RSS xml link in pocket explorer it automatically opens up your RSS reader and offers the option to subscribe to the feed? I'm interested in any ways of launching apps from within pocket explorer actually? e.g. I'd like to launch google maps and display a location marker from pocket IE.

Viigo is what I use.

I've tried SPB Insight ... but it works quite slow (http://www.spbsoftwarehouse.com/products/insight/?en)
Lately I use Egress ... it really does the trick (http://garishkernels.net/egress.shtml)
P.S. Both are commercial ... you didn't mention free

I think the easiest, fastest, and nicest one I've found, is actually GOogle Reader.
Go to reader.google.com on your phone.

Skyfire out for touch hd

apologeez if this article has already been made but too excited to care. just installed skyfire on my htc touch hd and it works. go to skyfire.com and download it.

Is this likely to be better than Opera already preinstalled?

I'm afraid it's still the same upscaled vga version that's been out for a while.

clown is correct, it's still an improvement over the old skyfire with which you had to use vgaFix with (even nice then alpha), but it's still not quite it.
Also, clown, I have a question (hope you read this), since you're using Dutty's Rom....do people know that if you add where you live to the world clock, it will sync with the weather and display it in the New Appointment in Calander? I don't want to start a thread if everyone already knows.

It does 'work', in the sense you can see Flash/video content in-page, but it's important to remember Skyfire is a proxy browser - everything goes via their own server first, and all your form filling goes back through their servers too.
I'm liking the rich media, but not enough to risk them seeing my credit card details, passwords and browsing history!

Tried it a couple of times, and tbh, it's slow as hell.
Think I'll be taking it off soon.

Somehow I doubt the $100k+ salary microsoft engineers care about your credit card number.... or would waste their time looking at your browsing history. Even if they were able to go through all that data and find your card number, you think they'd risk their job for the measily couple Ks in your bank account....ya I doubt that. Not to mention you're one of how many 100s of thousands of people using it daily. But hey, that's your perogative

What do you think; the opera mobile, o.mini, IE mobile etc. work in different way than the skyfire? You are wrong!
Like you said before : "everything goes via their own server first"
And the main benefit from it is that pages are loaded quicker.

Opera Mini uses proxying (it compresses to OBML) but in doing so they break end-to-end SSL, and so many secure sites (eBay etc.) refuse the traffic. Opera Mobile connects direct unless you specifically set up a proxy service. Skyfire uses the same concept as Opera Mini, and so breaks the SSL chain, but unlike O-mobile there's no option to turn it off. Because the proxy compression process results in unencrypted data on Skyfire's server (albeit transiently) a number of credit card companies have said the idea (based on how O-mini does it) breaks their rules on fraud protection, so the customer wouldn't be compensated if the card details were stolen.
IE Mobile on WM6.1 does not use proxying. Project Deepfish did, but that was closed in 2008 and the servers disconnected.

I think it's not quite true but maybe I'm wrong. Correct me if so...
Opera does exactly the same. Both Opera and Skyfire pre-render websites through their proxies, the difference being that Opera is text-based and Skyfire is image-based.
That's why Opera loads slower and scrolls quickes (loads the whole text part of the website at once), while Skyfire loads quicker and scrolls slower (loads only the visible part as compressed image, google maps style).

I really don't understand it....everytime I go to their web page I can't seem to download it eventhough I already selected touchscreen and click the download button, nuthin happens

Opera Mobile is not using a proxy, Opera is however launching a new version with a option to use a proxy, search on Opera Turbo.

Anyone Have a yahoo messenger app?

yahoo directs me to their web based app and i cant find anything else. apparently yahoo is only worried about the iphone and crackberry.

I recommend you go to nimbuzz.com and download their free app. That is the best app I found, after tons of searching. It has practically every popular IM know built in, and also has skype for internet calling. It has a nice interface too since it's fairly new. I think..... You won't be disappointed.

I think also that nimbuzz.com is definitely best solution, works great and supports all popular IMs...

i recommend SLICK or BEEJIVE , they're awesome

Xperia with Opera mini -- how to display google maps?

I have Xperia with Opera browser and I am unable to run google maps. If I visit their page the maps never load. I tried to see the maps using IE too but without success? Do you have any idea where may be the problem? Thanks

opera mini can't view complex pages, it's made for quick internet searching of easy framework sites (like xda-developers)
if you want google maps use the windows mobile program it's free.

Yes, I have the windows mobile software and it is working fine. When I need to see only the maps or use them for navigation, it is great solution. However, there are some websites which use google API to show some points of interests using google maps. These points of interest cannot be seen using the windows software. An example of such site is geocaching.com where is possible to see the map of the geocaches. This is possible to see only using the browser.

I don't know if a direct solution exists, but I'd recommend using a geocaching app in concert with gmaps. See here for such an app. Hope this helps.

Have you tried Opera Mobile?

Try SkyFire. its notg as smooth as opera when fliping a page but it displays the pages identicali to pc. runs flash video in the page itself.

ICS Browser

Has anyone managed to get the stock ICS browser working on 2.3?
tried ICS for a while, and loved the system but had to give it up for the lack of app support so far. Really missing the integrated approach of the browser, and how it synced bookmarks etc.
I know about ChromeMarks but not really the same. Done a search and found some topics of people trying on different devices but wondering if anybody got it on S2?
Failing that, what browser do you recommend as best for syncing between mobile and desktop?

I use Opera on my desktop, and Opera Mobile on my phone, and I use the build on "Opera Link" to sync bookmarks it works well.
But I suppose you use Google Chrome on your desktop so Opera Mobile isn't an option for you.

fair comment as I do use chrome. however may start looking at other options seen as four years in and google still not bothered with this feature.
