Hello,
on a MDA III the synchronisation over a serial RS232 cable works fine
(although T-Mobile doesn't sell such a cable). Some software which I
develop for PDAs which uses the RS232 port there for communication
with external electronic hardware works fine on PDas but not on the MDA
III. It always crashes when I try to open the port (COM1).
Some installed device manager tool (a view only tool) seems to confiorm
that COM1 is the right one. It is named like this: "Serial cable on COM1".
What's wrong here? Active Sync has been closed before starting my
application. SOmebody somewhere mentioned that the keyboard could
block the com-port. Is this true? And if yes, how can ActiveSync then use
it?
Greetings
Markus

Click to collapse
No, it's not true. The port is open by an
IR daemon listening for the connection,
and serial and IR share the same UART.
Uncheck the button in the settings, and
everything will work.
Everybody who has a RS232 GPS receiver
had the same problem.
Hi!
Is there a way to use the GPS receiver that is built into the Artemis as a GPS Device for Windows (XP or Vista).
Maybe over Bluetooth or USB / ActiveSync connection.
I tried to set up Bluetooth COM Ports so Incoming BT connections connect directly to the GPS COM port, but without success... no gps data was coming through.
Also I search for a small tool to test the receiver... just a compass or something.
regards,
Daniel
You cannot just "bridge" the GPS com port to your desktop OS via BT. The BT stack was never designed that way. All BT com ports you use must have a piece of software behind it to fill it with data, or otherwise they are just empty cans.
In your case, you need a GPS splitter to get gps signals from the GPS com port, and then repeat it to a BT com port so that the other end can receive such signal. That will provide a working bridge for your data.
Try software such as gpsgate that works as described above.
Hello, you can try GPS2Blue is a little free program that will let you use your Artemis as a GPS.
You can find it here: http://users.skynet.be/hofinger/GPS2Blue.html
Enjoy.
i got myself GPS2Blue and installed it.
My problem now is, that i cannot set up a BT COM port!
I have the (german) B&Bv3 ROM (WM6). In Bluetooth Settings in the "COM Ports"-Tab. It says "Tap on 'New outgoing port' ..." but theres no button or something. Just the describing text and an empty ListBox.
since I cannot set up my COM port, GPS2Blue won't swich on right?
So... is this a WM6 bug or a B&B Bug or my brain-bug
Setting up COM ports in my firmware WM5 OS worked just fine.
Thanks you guys for the info!
but what to do now?
GPSgate can do what you want (but it is not free)
gpsgate can set up bluetooth com ports? i dont think so
this is not a gps problem anymore!
i posted a new thread for my new problem:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=315687
GPSGate can do it!!
Use this is the registration key:AmzeaBjw
Then your Artemis can pass GPS information to your PC through Bluetooth
Fransons GPS Gate will enable the sharing of GPS position to a number of different types of device, I am not too sure about posting a registration key for purchased software as these are specific to an individual user??? - Mike
Hi
I was wondering if there is a way for me to find the infrared port number for the at&t 8525. I have wm 6 installed and will be installing rhm registry editor and cmd console. I need to run a program written in dos and it needs to use infrared port for some communication with another device. my laptop does not have such port.
Thanks in advance!
Hi
When I paired my Holux GPSlim236 in WM5 I had to make an incomming port to make it work. I can't find that option in WM6 - I have tried many different combinations but none work
Any ideas?
Start/Settings/System/External GPS/Hardware
On my 7501 using BT332 the hardware port is set to Com [email protected] baud.
Hi!
I own an HTC Touch Cruise because my former Navigation Device, FSC Pocket Loox N100 Series, has been stolen out of my car and I wanted an all-in-one solution. As Navigation Software I use Navigon MN6.
For the Pocket Loox I bought this TMC Receiver that is connected via the Mini USB port. It worked without any device drivers or addition software with MN6.
Now I want to connect that receiver to my HTC Touch Cruise, but there aren't any drivers supplied by the manufacturer. Within the TMC settings of MN6 I am asked to set a COM port for the TMC device - only 6 and 7 are available right now.
Is there a way to get that receiver to work with my PDA?
Maybe it's possiblie to "map" the USB port to a COM Port?
Thank you in advance!
