It works, granted. I installed it on a german Trion with success...
How did you make it? Do you enabled RAPI and unlocked CID in the trion?
No, it works out of the box...You only need to run the upgrade utility and wait. When it says "Invalid id", just re-run the upgrade utility and it will begin flashing the phone. That's all.
I have a TyTN with the rom version below, is it worth upgrading?
Model No.: HERM200
ROM Version: 1.18.255.3
ROM Date: 05/30/06
Radio version: 1.03.03.10
Protocol version: 32.34.7010.01H
ExtROM version: 1.18.255.105
hi, whats the difference between the model HERM100 and HERM200?......
How does the keyboard work?
When upgrading the english rom on the German Trion does the device automatically detect that it is a qwertz keyboard or is there a registry hack to fix this?
There is a registry hack for it, look under "Restore local language support for sliding keyboard" in the wiki:
http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=Hermes_Registry
How to...???
Hi together!
Sorry for newbie's question: I can see how to dumb the raw files. But what about the reverse process - how to update rom from extracted raws???
For details, please have a look to my question: http://forum.xda-developers.com/viewtopic.php?p=340846#340846
Thanks a lot!

After Conversion to English
I was just wondering if we could still use Chinese as optional language to view or type after we flash in the CHT9000 English ROM.
Chinese Display and Input on English ROM'ed HERMES
Getting back on topic about adding Chinese functionality...
For Traditional Chinese input, I am using Monster SIP 5.2 (input) along w/ Monster Chinese 5.3 by "Maction" with some success...
Zhuyin input works fine with the on-screen keyboard, BUT THE SLIDE-OUT KB (CHT9000) is useless for Chinese when using an English ROM.
Papago R12 doesn't even need SIP because the interface has built-in input. (bopomo-Zhuyin), so
Viewing doesn't work well for e-mail, though.
Like older versions of Monster Chinese, the e-mail list is bad and need a "menu -> Languages -> Chinese" switch for EACH e-mail to be viewed in Chinese.
There's a demo available for the Monster Chinese & SIP. Just make sure you use the latest versions for WM5.
I'll be looking elsewhere for a better input solution (or maybe just flash back to Chinese) since I plan to study Chinese and I want the real keyboard working for note-taking.
Anyone know what's available from CE-Star? I heard they're planning an update soon.

O2 english ROM
Yes ofcourse there is O2 english ROM. U can get it from XDA ftp site.
http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=BA_FTP_Site
and then click ftp://xda:[email protected]
go there and then open Map Uploads ----- then go to Universal File the last right side and then open ---- Shipped ROMs and there you wil see xda EXEC rom and download it : this is direct ite but sometimes it doesnot work:
ftp://ftp.xda-developers.com/Uploads/Universal/Shipped ROM/
Hi
Yes there is, I just did it and it works a treat! Its on the ftp site under shipped roms. Read the jasjar update guide elsewhere in this forum.
You'll need to install winrar in order to unpack the .exe from O2.
There are a few little oddities + if yr on t-mobile you wont want all the O2 junk. I'll post later what I did, I have stuff from O2, T-Mob and JasJar extended roms (but not much of each). An awful lot of sh1te comes with the device, and some simple messing is required to excise it.
I can tell you that in my experience:
- JasJar rom is slower than t-mobile (even before you install contents of ext rom.
- O2 Rom (with no extended rom) is quicker than MDA Pro rom
- O2 Rom + selection of cherrypicked cabs from mda/exec/jasjar runs better than t-mobile+tmobile ext rom.
Also, installing the XDA rom seems to fix the issue where the ruddy phone does not ring until 3rd ring when it is turned off. (I shall experiment with this more later) <--EDIT Nope, still does not ring until 3rd ruddy ring!
Anyway, i'll post a step-by-step, collating all the info from the helpfull chaps on here.
IMHO though, O2 run is currently the way to go.

And what about the German Hardware-Keyboard when I would install the English o2-Rom on my German MDA Pro? Would like to still have a German keyboard but an English OS. Like my Windows XP.

You schould read

to get a german Hardware-Keyboard on TM-MDAPRO (German).
The Software-Keyboard is branded into the english ROM
(JASRAR or XDA EXEC). You shoult install
http://www.resco.net/pocketpc/keyboard/default.asp
RESCO´s Keyboard/Pro to overlay it.
I´m using german`s MDAPRO with O2 XDA EXEC because
german MDAPRO crashes often.

Hello Everyone,
I just joined this forum as i was able to buy a QTEk with the following details:
Version de ROM : 1.13.74 ESN
Version de Movil : 1.04.02
Version Protocolo : 42.37.P8
Version de ExtROM : 1.13.169 ESN
As I am more fluent in English than Spanish, I wanted to upgrade my ROM to English, but also I would need to Backup the ROM of the spanish version so if there are problems with the phone, I can flash it back to the original manufacturer installed ROM.
What program do I need to Backup the ROM (and restore in the future) before I start fiddling?
Also, I heard that I can erase Extended ROM. As of now, what can I use the space that I will gain from erasing the contents of the Extended ROM?
Also one thing i noticed is that some of the keys have rub marks coming from the upper part of the universal (the screen) I think they touch eachother when it is colsed. Is this a factory defect?
Finally, I don't know where to register and get support for my QTEK. Where do you download/search for patches? Where do I register this device? Should I have gotten an i-mate instead?
Thanks in advance for all your comments, guys.
Jorge
GUYS?!?
Hello Anybody out there?
I have posted this message 2 weeks ago, a few views but no answers so I'll go ahead and update you on what's happened:
Thanks to BUZZ_LIGHTYEAR I was able to RAW DUMP my Spanish ROM to a File which I exchanged for a decoded nk.nbf file from an unpacked English ROM Update (the QTEK WWE) then I encoded the RAW file so now I have a new nk.nbf file which i pressume is the Spanish verion.
I'm not sure if it'll make a difference that the rest of the files are in English but will this update any UNIVERSAL to the Spanish verion? Anybody needs Spanish ROM and is willing to test this out? I can send you the Files needed? If it doesn't work you just have to flash back to the English. I haven't tested it yet because my device is originally Spanish so I have no fallback ROM if it doesn't work. But I followed BUZZ's instructions and I don't think it's gonna cause a problem.
Hmm,
seems this topic is very boring to everybody here, oh well....
Anybody has similar case of rubbed-out keys on the keyboard?
Just to show that there are persons available reading and having an opinion
Left and right of my keyboard, a little lower then the keys itself there are two outstanding rubber ? pads ? protecting the display from touching the keyboard, be it in portrait or landscape mode. So no, I do not have this problem.
Ruud
Mine have the rubber stuff too, Maybe i have them a little low... Could I possibly get a replacement? I don't think this can be considered wear-and-tear as i only had my phone for 1 month..... And the "damage" was caused by open/closing of the phone. Not using of the keyboard.
I would say certainly worth a try.
Good luck.
Ruud
i need spanish rom
I bought my qtek 9000 from O2 (UK) by ebay, it works great, but i need spanish software, i'd like to probe MoviStar, vodafone (if available) and free Spanish versions. I also need instructions or manual, i flashed a xda2 once, but i can't remember how i did, i think i put it in a special test mode. Thanks.
I have posted the QTEK Spanish ROM in the uploads section. Please look for it. Both OS and Extended ROM are there.
Just download the OS, and run the "noID" file to upgrade your QTEK to Spanish. Just remember that also the keyboard will be configured to Spanish (which has the "Ñ" character) so you have to re-map it back to whatever keyboard you have. You can search how to do this in the forums.
Just download the 2 said files, then you can upgrade your ROM. These ROM's are dated OCTOBER 2005
what do i need for backuping my system to a sdcard?
Im not sure. I backed-up to my PC. I think you can search here for grab_it program that dumps to SD card but i'm not sure it will work for WM5 or Universal
Well, how did you backup system to your pc?
and thanks again.
Actually, what i backed up was my OS nad ExtendedROM. No personal customizations.
You can see in my second post that i was able to do it thru steps i saw at BUZZDEV.NET thanks to buzz-lightyear.
It's under "how to d2s dump" you can follow my story there on how to backup ROM. Esentially it copies your operating system to a file on your PC which you can then install on another device after encoding/decoding.
I have posted my Spanish QTEK ROM on the FTP site so you can change your QTEK to spanish if you want.
What's your QTEK ROM version? all details please:
ROM Version
ROM Date
Protocol Version
Radio Version
Extended ROM Version

It is not a shipping ROM but you need 2 files:
1st: ftp://xda:[email protected]/Uploads/Universal/
QTEK Spanish ROM (1.13.74 ESN).rar --- This is the OS ROM
2nd: ftp://xda:[email protected]/Uploads/Universal/
QTEK ExtendedROM.rar --- this is the Extended ROM
i have the spanish extended rom, but the jasjar don´t reconice ?¿
thanks for alll
You have to install first the QTEK OS ROM then copy the Extended ROM after. Where in Spain do you live?
You can call me if you need more help. But i speak English, my Spanish is MIERDA
where unlock ?¿?
ok i live in malaga, do you have msn
mine is [email protected]
I was looking at the German site and unzipped the who German T-Mobile ROM.
After decoding, I see the following:
--German ROM--
1.20.118 ms.nbf
1.20.34 nk.nbf
1.06.00 radio.nbf
Now, compared to the latest O2 ROM:
--O2 ROM--
1.13.188 ms.nbf
1.13.82 nk.nbf
1.04.02 radio.nbf
The German ROM seems to be newer in all respects yet only the radio portion is being used from what I can read. Is there some reason, besides a possible keyboard-reg change and having to reinstall software, that is keeping people from using this ROM?
Well, there's the little matter of the entire operating system being in German...
.....and Warrenty.....,
heh,
warrenty dosent bother me, and german can be changed to english with a bit of effort, the only thing is, just because T-Mobile have it as 1.20, is it actually a newer version than say a Vodafone 1.13 rom,
numbers between the operators are pretty meaning less,
best thing would be to get a german person thats using it to get the windows build version, thats about the only way i can see if it is a newer version or not

already did ... i'm using the german version ... OS 5.1.70 (Build 14409.1.1.2) ...
and indeed the radio is newer and stable !
In case anyone doesn't know, the version from the latest O2 rom is as follows:
OS 5.1.1700 (Build 14354.0.1.1)
I wonder if the newer version just refers to the German translation, or if there is anythnig else new? I accept that the radio is different and might well be newer.

I agree that the version is not language related. But didn't someone stated before that with this version of T-Mobile there is AD2P and SAP (SIM Access Profile) available?
Or is this something between AKU 1.2 and 2.0?
Well, I will try this ROM, but I have to mix up the ROM a bit to have my QWERTY supported. I now have a ROM supporting QWERTZ, wich is the german keyboard layout. It's not so bad to have Z and Y key wrong, but all "red keys" are different - so I'm always searching for /:\+-=_ etc.

all you have to do is note the
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\OEM\Qwerty]
value
and after the upgrade set it back ... you will have a fully functional keyboard (including red keys) !

my question is: with coming update of WM6 would i be able to flash the device with different language version than previously installed WM5? all i would need is WM6 in english, i don't even need my mother language..
cheers!
I buy A696, I need change the language, French to inglish, is this possivel?

i have a696 with wm5 Engish, now i want to upgrade to wm6 Chinese.

What we can do is:
1. attach PDA to the PC with USB cable and wait for ActiveSync to sync
2. open a command prompt
3. run pdocread -t
4. run pdocread -l
5. run pdocread 0x0 0xXXX nk.nb0 where 0xXXX is the size of the rom returned in the step 3 (for our WM5 should be 0x2200000)
6. wait until the process finish
Now we got a copy of our original PDA firmware
To upgrade the PDA back to the origiginal or to another version we got, we have to:
1. attach the PDA to the PC with USB cable and CLOSE ActiveSync
2. press on the PDA the keys POWER+ENTER+RESET, the PDA bootloader will start in upgrade mode by USB and wait for the firmware from the USB
3. use usbloader to upload our nk.nb0 or any other firmware we got to the PDA
This is what I have read from that forum, but I've not tested jet cause I have only the copy of my firmware and waiting that someone make a copy of his english PDA to be able to upload the WM6 WWE update.
That is the user "l0v3r" says in the other post.
