Sx66 without camera question - MDA III, XDA III, PDA2k, 9090 General

I just got my Sx66, its the version without the camera. I have been reading some of the other posts about applying mp3's as a ringtone. I have tried the simple methods and i don't really see an option to where i can do that on my phone. If i upgrade my OS to the 05 version will i then be able to apply mp3's as a ringtone without installing a program or patch?
Thanks

MP3 ringtones must be put into the folder "\Windows\rings\" then you can use the add ringtone.

Need help with SRS WOW HD

Since I picked up a mini usb to stereo cable for my phone I have been using it to listen to music more and more, I came across this program today and decided since i use headphones it might help increase the quality so I installed it. After I installed it I could not locate it so therefore I don't know if its working or not. Another problem I am now having is that the phone isn't pushing the audio through the stereo cable anymore. Any help will be greatly appreciated. Sorry if there is already a thread about this I searched and had no luck.
Update: Here is the link I dled it from.
Did you soft reset after install ?? I've had to soft reset after install each time I've updated a rom.
Also, which version did you install - the ppc version, or the smartphone version ??
Looks like the smartphone version is called srs wow xt
here is one of many links I found
http://smartphoneapps.blogspot.com/2008/01/srs-wow-xt.html
Hope this helps

your issue might be cause that is an app for a pocketpc and being how the dash/excalibur is a smartphone, NOT a ppc , be the reason for it not to be working.
Sadly im such a newb I have no idea how to soft reset, and after doing that where would it be located in the phone?
?

check post #2 - I included a link to smartphone version
good luck
Thanks for all the help so far guys, but now i need to delete the PPC version, how would i go about doing that if i cant find it...
Press Start > settings > remove programs and see if it is there.
Otherwise, try installing the smartphone version - you should get a message asking you to overwrite the "current" version on the phone before installing this latest version.
check in the remove programs first - it should be there
good luck

Did you soft reset ?? Basically, shut the phone off, and then turn it back on, the driver will update automatically
I got it to work and all but the main reason I wanted it was to increase the quaility while wearing headphones, and now those are not working so I should probably just re flash.

Your at no loss without SRSUnwowicanamplifyandmakeyourmusicsoundcrap.cab i tryed (had loop i was testing it with) it and the gain is nothing except amplitude that then becomes degraded, better to use PocketPlayer and EQ your sound to how you like it.
Ok I reflashed and everything is working fine now, thanks for the help guys.

no ringing alet NOT EVEN VIBRATE working

ok this just started happening a few min ago there is no alert whatsoever the phone is not ringing for any alert and wont vibrate. but the vibrate still works and i hear sounds from other things such as my media player. i tried changing the ringtone but it resets itself to ring01-windowsphone and i tried setting it to a custom ringtone...nothing! i tried a soft reset. still . all my volumes are up so i dont know what to do
im running the stock tmobile 6.5 rom
also it started happening when i disconnected it from mass storage mode
EDIT:i just found out my windows media player will not open
so the standard windows mobile media player is broken. i try opening it and nothing. not even a error message. is there a cab where i can reinstall it? anything but a dreaded hard reset would be nice
Same problem here - Hard Reset was the only option.

are you running the same rom? beacuse ive seen other post where this has happened and its a reoccurring issue even after hard resets. so if this is going to happen again im calling tmobile and getting a new TP2 with the stock 6.1 rom. i really dont want to hard-spl cus i have a feeling somethings going to happen where i have to return the phone and i dont want to have to go thru the hassle of undoing spl
and if my only option is to hard reset is there something where i can backup all my apps. cus i dont even remember where i got half my apps from and they take so long to install

Use a 3rd-party app like SPB Backup, that will do a full backup of your current os state, including installed programs.
For the future, I'd recommend creating a "cabs" folder at the root of your storage card, whenever you get a new app/tweak just download the cab straight to that folder, run it from there, and just leave it in there for archiving purposes...you'll always have any of them again, immediately accessible in situations like this

thank you for the app advice. ill use that next time. i use to have a apps folder i put them all in but my SD card stopped working so i had to format. i updated to a energy rom and it basically has everything i need. and more except groove fish, which i cant live without! so ill download that later.
i didnt really like the tmobile 6.5 rom and compared to this. that rom was CRAP!
also i looked for about 3 hours for a fix on the media player. and nothing really so best bet is to hard reset

MIUI custom notification problem

Since flashing the new JB MIUI, I have been unable to change to notification tone to a custom one.
Searching I came up with putting the file I want into the system notification tone bin, which didn't work.
Also saw somebody said the owner had no permissions, I am unaware on how to give the owner permissions.
When putting the tone in the system media notification bin , I get a tone unselected. I tried selecting the tone in theme manger mix and that didn't do anything either.

Yeah I went to put the custom files into the system, and it said I didn't have access. Flipped out at first, having a custom ROM w/o system rights. Might have to do with the root access setting (in settings) gonna mess around with it. I have a different phone (HTC One X, but the solution should be similar) For facebook messages and emails, custom works. But no matter what I do, I can't get sms noise to change. Still gonna try out a few more things I'll let you know if I figure something out.

[Q] Is there any way to restore stock audio to rooted DHD?

Hi everyone; I've a rooted Desire HD running TakTik 4.4.2 and the audio doesn't sound right when I run a game or play music. The ROM came with DSP Manager which was uninstalled when I flashed AwesomeBeats. What I wanted to know: is there a way to restore any kind of equalizer that I set up when DSP was installed, back to how my DHD should sound? If I remember right, my equalizer was pretty much maxed out with DSP but now I get some 'bits' of sound missing or not sounding right when playing games etc. I've tried most of the ROM's from the kind devs here and I really want to stay with TakTik so I don't want to flash another if at all possible. (or reflash TakTik) Thanks

Hi bananagranola, thanks for replying; I'm not 100% happy with TakTik's sound, for some reason (it might be my DHD) it doesn't sound right so I suppose I'm looking to put the phone back to stock sound if possible. I did another clean install of TakTik yesterday and it's still the same and I've kinda experimented with other equalizers, even Beats and stuff.
Stock sound needs a stock ROM. If you just want to go back to Taktik sound, just flash the ROM again without wiping. Since it's the same ROM it's not going to be dirty.

Thanks, yeah, I've done that. Is there nothing that's compatible with 4.4.2 that I can flash like Beats or something? . Just anything that will take out DSP etc and change the whole sound experience but keeping TakTik?
That would be a pretty extensive mod, and I don't know of another one. Maybe someone else does.

Ok, thanks for your help. Will keep looking :fingers-crossed:
However you want.....I should suggest you to try out Viper4Android.
It's an .apk so either you place it into /system/priv-apps folder using Root Explorer or ES File manager. Or simply install as .apk file remove DSP Manager along with dspwrapper libs on system/lib/soundfx. Once that done reboot your device.
After reboot you should be able to see Viper4Android in your app drawer so choose it wisely which setting you're looking for in your device. Even you may have Stock kinda feeling on Any of your custom rom. For more information head over to Viper4Android thread links below;
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2191223
Use different .irs files to customize the outcomes of sound.
Optionally:
Sample of readymade profiles are in my sign. Check them out.
'Njoy.

Really appreciate the trouble you've gone to with that, thanks. Will give your suggestion a go and see what happens. Thanks again
With V4A you can customize quality sound with whole new level.Here's some tips as below;
-Menu > UI Setting > Expert mode
-Under Convolver click on Impulse responce,it will make a folder in your sd card named Viper4Android and subfolder Kernel where you've to put .irs files.
All possible .IRS files you'll find under this thread below;
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2216193
Place .irs one by one and check which sound outcomes matches your taste. Once you pick one then you may further dig into it and make your own custom profile for Viper4Android.
Initially you might find it hard with setting up profile and other things but unless you try out yourself, you'll never ever enjoy the quality music.
***Plenty of Paid and Free .irs are available on Internet as well as here on xda so try looking more into it. I use HTC Beats Audio ((Z-Edition)) and beats pro+srs

Sounds good, excellent info, more thanks. Just doing everything you suggest in between fixing the car, loading music onto a USB drive, entertaining 5 kids and then some more. I really appreciate your input. Thanks.
Thanks for your help
I just wanted to say thanks to dr.patron99 and bananagranola for their help. Problem solved; I changed to Gimmeabreak ROM (which incidentally is the best ROM I've used to date, and I've tried pretty much all of them). Sadly, my DHD is going to be passed to my son as I'm getting a new phone soon but I really wanted to say a huge thanks to all here at XDA for their advice and guidance, especially those developers who have given so much time and energy. Thanks.

.nomedia files keep being regenerated

Hello everyone!
With my M8 and a hanfdul of ROMs (even stock ROM IIRC) I keep getting .nomedia files created all over the place on the SD, even in the default Camera folder... I delete them, then at some seemingly random point they're back. As a result I can't play music from the SD card and, using Quickpic I have to "show hidden" in order to access my photos.
Is there any way I can find what creates them? Anyone's got an inkling as to what's going on? I've gone through a few hard resets up to now, different ROMs as I've said (currently on ARHD) and the issue is a constant!
Thanks!
. You are sure you don't have

Tha somehow points to a "privacy" or "hide my files" app that you installed and that is set improperly. Are you sure that you don't have such an app, maybe installed automatically after hard reset from playstore by synchronisation or by some backup program?
Yes, I'm sure I don't have one, because I never installed one... Good thinking though.
The automatic creation of nomedia files is normal. It stops your gallery app from displaying all system files that are pictures.

Er, yes, but as I said this happens with the default camera folder, too. Not talking about system/program folders...

Seems like a rare issue unique to what you installed or how you set up your device.
If I were you I would reinstall your rom from scratch (not restored from any backup), and use your device for a couple of days without installing any additional apps. After confirming the nomedia is absent, then slowly reinstall apps one by one until you see the problem reoccurring.
Sorry I have no better advices. May be others will.

Thanks, man, that's what I have been thinking for a while now, but I wanted to avoid it of course, hence why I'm asking how to troubleshoot it (and not "who is the culprit").
Funny thing is I don't run anything strange, right now Titanium (premium) and LP are the most system-"intensive" apps I have... And the problem used to exist with KK as it does with LP now!
Thanks again anyhow
