Recently I purchase a phone, a second hand phone O2 Xda II mini, and i pay $200 for it. When i go home, and i put the sim card in and try to make a call, it said handset has been locked, which mean that is a lost phone, just wonder any one can tell me a method to change the imei, and i had download imei manipulation, but search for whole day, couldnt find a side that sell serial cable for mini, any chance any one can help me or link me the side that how to create serial cable for xda II mini, or any method can change imei with out a cable, Plz help. =.="
Maybe it is just sim-locked. Check out the unlockin applicaton for your phone.
Or else, 'sue' the ebay seller for selling you an un-usable phone. Unless the ebay seller specifically said that this phone is a lost/stolen phone, the seller shouldn't expect you (or any buyer) to perform an IMEI change.

hi guys.
I just bought another TP2 from Ebay to replace my one which is broken. I've put my simcard but it doesnt register on my network. I've tried my sim card in another phone and it works fine, and I'm able to connect to wi-fi on the new TP2, but not to my network....so I've come to the conclusion that it must have a locked imei number.
I conacted ebay and the seller to ask whether it was a stolen phone, but to no avail. the seller has de-listed and ebay arent interested as the phone is in "working order", even though I cant connect to a network!!!
is there anyway to change the number, or unlock it, so I can use it? Otherwise it's a pretty expensive paper weight! My fault for not checking these facts before buying, but you live and learn....anyone help?
Cheers
Don't expect advice on changing the IMEI here.
As for unlocking, take a look here: http://rhodium.htc-unlocks.com/ (as far as I know, there is no free solution).
report the transation to paypal. You'll get your money back. Especially if the phone was potentially stolen.
im currently using aokp jb. the back of my phone says one imei while the imei in the phone says a different one. apparently the imei number 004999010640000 belongs to a non-existant 16gb iphone 3gs. i dont know what changed my imei but i do know that at&t has recently started blacklisting stolen/lost devices and the imei i listed above appears as stolen. i dont know if people have been having problems while going to make a phone call but i have and just wanted to share the info i learned at at&t.
Maybe call at&T or go to a store and ask them to look it up and verify that it's not an iphone nor is it stolen but I doubt you'll have any really problems as at&t really doesn't do much for a stolen phone once the customer buys a new one

Where did you buy your Nexus? If you got it secondhand most likely the seller changed the IMEI but I dont know why that would matter as ATT doesnt sell the phone so they dont care if it was stolen. Pretty strange situation you find yourself in.
You might want to ask ATT to see if someone is using the IMEI on the back of your phone. If so, maybe they have the stolen iPhone. If you can get it straightened out, great. If you can't, send a pic of your phone's real IMEI and report it stolen. Then the crook (if there is one) can't use it, either.
my phone has two imei's one on the back and the one in the nv_data.bin the one in the nv_data is a generic one apparently which i dont know how it got there, most likely when my phone was sim unlocked cause i didnt buy it through the play store. and ive been trying to figure out how to restore imei's and have been following guide after guide to no avail. i know that imei changing is illegal and banned here but i dont know what else to do
tl;dr : my galaxy nexus has a generic imei in it and att is blacklisting my phone because of it
I recently got a refurbished Dinc 2. The GSM part cannot be unlocked. The unlock service said the IMEI couldn't be recognized by HTC. Is it possible that this phone has been tampered and the IMEI has been changed? I also found the serial numbers under the battery (beginning with HT) and from the phone settings (beginning with MB) are different. All other things seem normal. The ESN is clean since I activated on pageplus. I am concerned with the history of the phone.
Did you get the refurbished incredible 2 for a replacement from Verizon or from someone else?

Is it like a "new" refurbished? Like, after it was refurbished had it been used?

Yes, it is like a "new" refurbished. The condition looks very good, no any scratch/wear all over the phone. The screen protector with the words "remove before use" and "certified pre-owned" was still on. The verizon global sim card was in it. But I did find some photos in the micro sd card in the phone.
Okay idk much about this kind of stuff but I did some reading on this Wikipedia article and it seems to maybe your imei was changed or maybe someone changed another phones imei to yours. I honestly have no clue, just putting out suggestions.
Edit: maybe the box is not original box the phone came with.

I´m having the exact same problem. I got a replacement phone from Best Buy, although the carrier was Verizon, the phones at Best Buy were 100$ cheaper. Anyway, I used their geek squad insurance thing, and I got a phone, minus battery, and a service receipt. The IMEI did not appear on the receipt, nor in on the sticker on the back of the phone. Now there may have been an IMEI that was valid at one point on the phone, but me, being a dumbass, either never took the time to copy it down, or did so on a computer I no longer have or a piece of paper I left somewhere else.
Is there any way we can root around and find the correct IMEI, or figure out the IMEI based on the MEID? Is this the sort of record they would keep in their database?
(I have a new thread describing my problem in more detail HERE:

Refurb phones will not be in standard htc database these unlockers have.
Most tell you if the phone is a refurb no code will be found. Some have unlockers will have the code but cost much more.
BTW XTC Clip will s-off and sim unlock your phone.
I bought a Sprint Note II off of eBay. It was advertised as a clean ESN and I assumed that the owner was simply upgrading since this is an older phone. I received the phone today and can't activate it with Sprint. I'm a newb and looking for ideas as to what has happened. A few notes:
The sticker on the back under the battery doesn't appear to have been tampered with.
The software IMEI matches the hex sticker. The IMEI is clean per swappa.
The software dec and hex meid do not match the sticker. The software meid has no result in swappa.
The network is listed as sprint and the sprint logo appears on start-up.
I am awaiting a response from the seller. I need a phone for work and bought this one after I busted my G2. What do you all see as my options?
I'm a newb. Any help is appreciated.
Thanks.

Sounds like the seller changed the meid (esn). If seller does not respond contact ebay and tell them. Ebay will refund if seller does not.

Hey XDA Team,
I have a 5x with andoird 6.0.1 and the IMEI is blacklisted (thanks ebay)
Well i managed to root and change the IMEI of the device after a lot of work ( downgrade anroid etc)
So when i check the IMEI with *#06# or under the settings then it shows me the new one, but on this device under settings and SIM i still can see the old IMEI. I guess thats why it is not working. Is there a way to fix it or do i need another SIM card ?
Big thanks in advance
I thing you cant just by a software change IMEI. Only possible way is to change a motherboard, or find someone who makes this kind of stuff.
Given the nature of your question and the lack of help it's illegal to change imei's and nobody on XDA will help you. My apologies for you having been scammed into buying a paper weight. Unless you can found out from the seller why it's black listed. (Stolen, non payment) It's unlikely you'll get it un black listed. Since you already tampered with the phone. No one will help you. In the future if you buy off of eBay, Swappa, Amazon etc.. take special care into looking into the item you are interest in buying. Your only hope of getting it to work is to pay a tech specialist to swap the motherboard with a legal imei and thats gonna cost money. All the best.
