PLEASE 8125 makes calls on its own. - Upgrading, Modifying and Unlocking

this is becoming a huge problem. ive searched everywhere and used different programs. my phone answers calls while in my pocket or even redials them. its becoming troublesome since friends and Girlfriend could listen to my Conversation. If only the God that created Smart key could some how plug the prog to disable all buttons while locked!!!!

I had mine do this a couple of times ... but I now just use the "lock device" today screen plugin and it hasn't happened since.

Keylock turns off on SMS reception

Hi
on my new Orange SPV m2000, i configured the keylock to lock everything but the power on/off switch. But.. when i receive an SMS, an eMail or when Pocket outlook wants to connect to the GPRS network (and wants to show me the little bubble saying that i'ts about to do so) then the keylock is being turend off (=the SPV is being turned on) and i can use all the keys and the touchscreen.
since i often receive SMS when my phone is min my pocket, i don't really like this kind of behaviour..
doesn't anyone have this problem too? to me it seems like a basic windows mobile problem the way things are being made... or is it just a configuration fault of mine?
any help is appreciated...
cheers
pascal
Same prob with XDAII
Don't want to hijack your thread... but i'm having the same problem with SMS.
But also, every time i receive a phonecall, the phone unlocks, and does not lock itself again. So if i have the phone on silent, it unlocks in my pocket, and then my phone starts calling people by mistake until i lock it again.
I enabled the lock all buttons except power button option but this doesn't work. The only additional software i have running on the phone is TomTom2 and Towa's patch if that makes any difference. ROM ver 1.60.50.
Any solutions? I may otherwise have to get rid of my trusty XDAII otherwise
Thanks!
Sorry, I dont have a solution, but my phone does the same.
Its as if the phones were designed on a desk, and no one bothered to try them in the real world.

Hmm... I don't have this problem on my XDAII and I don't think I ever had it. What ROMs are you XDAII peeps using? Standard UK O2 ROMs like me? (I'm up to 1.72 now.)
Wonder why my XDAII wouldn't have this problem but others might, unless it's a ROM problem.
This is a known problem with the Blue Angel, but not with the XDAII that I've heard of.
hi
i think there is alternative way to minimize problem. you can set your password for your phone, then when there is incoming call or message, even though it will unlock all button, but before you use it, the unit will ask you password. so at least you will not miss call anyone anymore.
I'm having the same problem with my Pda2k.
I've disabled all but the power button. And I do have a password on the device.
I've had the following scenarios happen;
Scenario 1:
Every time I receive an SMS, the device powers up, waits for the password - If I don't hear it it then proceeds to stay on and drain the battery.
It just doesn't seem to go back to sleep.
BTW - the unit gets very warm...
Scenario 2:
Even when I do hear it, I often find that the unit is frozen - ie I try to type in the password, the asterisks show on screen but it seems nowhere after that. I'm running Pocket Plus, which has had problems with HTC devices - but I'm not running the today plugin at the moment.
Soft Reset is the only option.
Tom
Yes, i think we are all in the same boat here. The problem is that the device wasnt designed to be in your pocket (I know.. I know.. Pocket PC). Problem being, on recieving sms/mms/call the gsm part of the device sends the wake siganl to the O/S, causing the device to power on.
The simple solution as mentioned above is to lock the keys (password) but again as mentioned this can cause alot of power loss because the device will not sleep if your leg keeps trying to enter the password (in your pocket). I'm guessing that why so many people tend to use the belt clips with these devices. :?
I'm sure it will be in the next feature request so that only the LED indicator will change and flash if chosen but until then we all have to look like geeks with belt clips.
If anyone knows of a registry hack or app that can stop the wake signal form annoying us all the please post.
Workaround
Hi there,
Same problem on my 9090. But I had this on my former crappy iPAQ 6340 too.
Here's a workaround which works for me:
Go to "Start -> Settings -> Sounds & Notifications"
then select tab "Notifications"
in the "Event"-dropdown select "Messaging: New text message" and uncheck "Display message on screen". Uncheck for "Phone: Voice mail" and "Phone: Missed call" too.
BTW: The warming device is just a feature: you don't have to buy a pocket hand warmer in winter!
Greetz,

Or use a 3rd party software like the ones described here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/viewtopic.php?t=15573

Prevent Accidental Answering of Calls on Dash

Hello,
I recently recieved a Dash from T-Mobile with WM6 Standard. 1 annoying thing I've noticed is that although the phone's keypad is locked, while reaching for the phone in the pouch, I've accidentally answered calls that I didn't want to . I wish there was a way that required a combination of at least 2 keys be pressed in a certain order before the call would be answered. This would be similar to unlocking the keypad. I could also prevent unknowingly answering a call if the ringer was on silent.
Wow, many views, no solution??
Im not sure about your phone, but you might want to disable any key answer
For my phone ( tornado ), its under settings, phone, call options
Hello karhoe,
Thanks for the suggestion, however that option is already disabled. The problem is that when the phone is in the case or in my pocket, the Answer Key can easily be activiated by the slightest touch which is not good. I'm suprised that more people haven't responded with the same issue.
Yes it happened to me a couple of days ago, quite annoying. The phone was just in my pocket and it rang. Reached in to pull the phone out, and apparently I had inadvertantly touched the softkey that answers the phone, before I could check the caller ID
Well there is no app that I know of that makes you have to press 2 or more keys to answer the phone. And that is what you would need, a 3rd party app.
It would be kind of dangerous or even more annoying under certain circumstances like driving. But if you had 2 different lock options, one normal the other for the 2 button answer, that would be cool. Very cool indeed.
But it does'nt always happen, I think it's happened only twice. Usually the phone is not in my pocket or on me in a holster, because I want to keep the radiation away from my body, so it's usually on my desk or sitting in the car if I am driving. In-between those times it is on me.
I'm afraid this applies to any phone of the Candy Bar type. Happened to me quite often to answer a call while reaching for the phone (S620 and S710 ans some other Nokias). Flip phones are much better for that. You got to open the phone to answer a call and you can still check the caller on the outside display before opening it.
You're right, a third party app setting a two level answer mode would be great, although don't know if this can be done, where the core of the phone handles the answering alone preventing any developer to set up an "answering sequence". Good idea anyway, curious to check on this one.
Ka.
Thanks for the replies. I'm still optimiistic that SOMEone out there may have a solution!
Sorry can't resist - If its someone you don't want to talk to, pretend you're on ATT and drop the call
I haven't had a problem. I use this case

@jamssx: lol
@timothyjok: thx for the suggestion, I've looked at that case before, but was trying to remain positive that someon may have software solution. sigh...
From http://www.shipiboconibo.com/dash/#callreject :
Disable Accidental Call Rejection
Have you ever recieved a call and as you pull your Dash out of your pocket it says 'Call rejected'? I have, and it annoys the hell out of me! I derived this hack from a hack telling how to enable this feature, but mine was enabled by default so I am going to assume the original hack was intended for the Excalibur and T-Mobile decided to enable the feature on their phones. By default (can anyone else verify this is default on the Dash?) simply touching the JOGGR strip on the Dash during an incomming call will reject the call. I hate this and here is how you can disable it!
\HKEY_CURRENT_USER\ControlPanel\JogBar\Settings\EnableRejectCallFunc = 0
As you probably guessed, this is a binary value, setting it to 0 disables it, 1 enables it.

Irritating problems which someone will have solved

I have an o2 Orbit and it's fine (if a little underpowered) except...
-one-
I would like to be able to disable reminders/alarms on the PDA, but still have access to my diary.
I use appointments on Outlook on my PC, and alarms are really useful when I'm working at my desk - but not that helpful when I'm not at my desk.
Moreover, I kill the alarm on my desktop and then have to do the same thing on my PDA to get to a screen I can use.
What I'm looking for is someway to suppress the pop up alarm on the Orbit.
-two-
This is related to the above.
To avoid calling people from inside my briefcase/pocket,
I set the keyboard lock so that I have to turn the unit on with the on switch to do anything.
Other that when the alarm goes off, which brings the device temporarily to life,
and then the buttons spring into life
allowing the slightest movement to dial the last person who called me or I them.
To say this is annoying is to understate things.
I now routinely call voice mail before I travel with the phone,
so that I can at least control who it's going to call.

WM6.1 official rom upgrade - call history / call log filter bug in today screen

Hey all,
Im a long time user of the forums but havent posted anything yet. Anyway, ive been seeing this issue on some other forums and after massive searching cant find a fix.
I just got the official upgrade to WM6.1 on my sprint HTC Touch. PRIOR to 6.1 the "main" today screen showed a missed calls link (icon is a phone with a "!"), which by default listed an entire call history - missed calls, received calls, and outgoing calls. AFTER upgrading to 6.1 the same button now only lists missed calls. there is a menu button which contains a filter, and the ability to switch to "all calls". the only problem is, this filter doesnt stick. after closing it and reopening it reverts back to only showing missed calls. This is a huge pain in my arse as I used that button almost every time i use my phone. (redials, sending texts, getting numbers, etc)
As far as my options on alternatives goes, this is what I know:
1. I know you can open the "phone" dial screen and access a full call history. (this is ok, but I really want a quick one touch access!)
2. I found the callhistory.exe floating around on here, got it set up in my programs and mapped it to the camera softkey. (also a pain because I had all my soft keys mapped to other things, and i tend to hold my phone in my right hand making it annoying to hit)
I would really LOVE to know if there is a way to get that "missed calls" key on the today screen to show the entire call history like it used to do!!!!! (or at least add/change another button on the main today screen to access call history)
I may just be screwed, but if anyone can figure it out I know xda-devs can. Any help would be appreciated.
p.s. If other people are seeing this thread and are in the same spot, and want to know how to set up callhistory.exe to map to a softkey let me know, and ill post those details on that temporary alternative.

I have the same problem on my Xperia. Does anyone have a solution?
Why dont you try this little app, dont remember where i got it from but very handy. It creates a short cut for your call history in the Programs section.Hope this helps.
has anyone come up with solution for this annoying bug that filter selection in Call History from Today screen does not stick and defaults to Missed Calls only?

[Q] Self Dials last number and Voice commands turn on - Spooky

TP2 - WM 6.1 - T-Mobile
Self Dials last number and Voice commands turn on - Spooky
About a week ago I started noticing a microphone (ala Larry King) in my notification area at the top of my home page. I would come and go and make a small beep sound. Finally realized it must be voice commands. Well I keep turning voice commands off but they keep turning on. I have loaded no new software in the last week. I have never used voice comamnds.
Also about a week ago - and it is getting worse - after making a phone call and hanging up, my TP2 will start dialing the last phone number out of nowhere. It usually happens when I am on my home screen and I now move the phone. TP2 is my first touch phone and I have always had a lot of fat finger dials. I always assumed it was something that I did. But now out of nowhere, I am on the home screen, the phone starts to dial. If I pick the phone up and shake it, it will start to dial. this will happen a couple of times and then it stops. thinking that it might be related to the voice commands, but not sure.
Any help or ideas?
OK, still baffled. I do have a voice mail notification and voice commands are turned off. If I pick up my phone kind of rough and shake it a bit it starts to dial my last phone call consistently now.
Please someone help me. My friends are hating me.
OK, so it is definately related to having the voice mail notification. If the voice mail notification is present, then picking up my phone, kind of like tossing it in the air a couple of inches and catching it, will make it start to dial my last call. Once I listen to the voice message (and the notificaiton is no longer there), picking up the phone roughly does not make it dial.
I do remember that about 10 days ago I uninstalled T-Mobile visual voice mail. Then I kept getting a text message and had to call T-Mobile to have them do something on their end.
Still I need help to understand how to stop it.
yea my phone was doing the same thing recently but it was only when i had it plugged up to my car charger. I assumed it had something to do with the charger but im not sure if thats the real problem
It may be that mine only does it when it is plugged to charge also. At work, where I have really begun to notice it, my phone is always plugged into a split that has a charger and headphones.
Sounds like your talk/phone button is getting stuck. On most roms if you press and hold it it initiates voice comm. Pressed once brings up dial pad, twice calls the last number, press and hold is voice comm. So most likely its the hardware. Either that or paranormal activity. Set up a camera to catch it in the act.
I was starting to wonder if it was hardware, because if I shake it it dials. The phone button getting stuck makes sense. I did not know that click twice would dial last number and click and hold would turn on voice commands. Thanks for the info - exactly what i was looking for. Luckily I bought additional coverage (I have a six year old that likes to play games on my phone). Love the keyboard of the TP2, but would really like to get an android os. We will see.
Thanks again.
