Just bought the mount with the built in speaker etc:
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=9741772532&rd=1&sspagename=STRK:MEWN:IT&rd=1
But I have the 3200mah battery which sticks out the back 7mm....
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=9728841261&rd=1&sspagename=STRK:MEWN:IT&rd=1
Before I saw it up in dispair and try to glue it all together in some way that will fit (as changing battery in the car every day is no good for me) can anyone suggest anything that will power the unit, preferably have a speaker, fit it properly etc.
Any suggestions helpful,
Greg.
PS any mounts/car holders that are part of a proper hands free kit?

I am looking for a car style mount that will actually grasp my m5000 when in the tablet format, so that it can't fall out (actually for a hot air balloon). It does not need to be powered or anything, only be able to be fixed to a RAM mount. All the ones I see discussed here are slip in.
Any ideas would be appreciated.
Have you considered making one?
Get something like an Otterbox, and the appropriate type of clamp/mount for your needs, then glue/screw/bolt the 2 parts together?
The Otterbox looks great, little bit of overkill thought, I am looking for a bracket that basically has a clip at all 4 corners.
I have ordered a couple from RAM (http://www.ram-mount-uk.com, Steve is extremely helpful on the phone), but I think that the PDA is too big for their current models.

Did you try the RAM-HOL-PD3? I've been looking for a mount for the Exec that I can attach to the RAM bracket I've got at the moment, but I don't know whether this one's suitable.
I have just received the PD3 mount that is resonably good. It has sides on it which are good, but the end fingers fit over one end properly, but the other end will only go over the keyboard and not the screen when folded over. However I will be keeping it as the most secure so far. The other mount I contemlated is

Be VERY careful when using this holder. You may want to mod the power input to give it some 'slack'. I have one of these, and the USB input port on the Universal has come detached from the motherboard twice, the most recent one provided no end of delays from O2....(are they totally incompetent these days????)
You see the Power output built into the holder is just to rigid, meaning that if it does not line up perfectly with the PDA, it will put stress on the input, and thus detach..... Hope it saves someone from heartache!
O2 XDA Exec
Used on T-Mobile Network - USA
Due to an upgrade to a Kaiser, I have the following for sale:
TWO O2 Branded XDA IIs - One complete, one lacks stylus - Both are UNLOCKED.
One, my spare second one - the battery *may* be faulty. The reason I have two is that I had issues with it rebooting when i first got it, O2 sent a replacement and neglected to send a return bag . It ended up that it seemed to be the battery, so I used the original handset but the replacement battery, and I slung the replacement handset and original batt in a drawer. After rooting it out of the drawer (where it had lain for a couple of years) the battery seems to work fine and power was still over 84%. I will run it some to check. Maybe I was just being a noob or the backup battery hadn't charged.
Both handsets have some minor wear on the corners but otherwise are fine. No loose sliders etc. The rubber cap over the headphone socket on the main one is starting to split.
Also, there is a GlobalSat BT-338 SirfStar III Bluetooth GPS unit. I should have the wall charger lying around somewhere lol, I never used it though, I always used the car charger (Which I definately have and is included). A really great unit.
Also, there is a windscreen sucker mount for the XDA. Just a cheapo halfords one, but it fits perfectly and doesn't obstruct power or headphone sockets.
Also included is a retracting mini-sync cable - USB one end, custom XDA connector the other. Get a car lighter -> USB adapter (No! You can't have mine!) and leave that in your car, then you can use the mini sync you keep in your pocket with any PC or in your car to charge or transfer files.
Also included is a 1GB SD card. It is Integral branded card, it shows no speed but it seems to have enough bandwidth to play DivX off the card
Also included are two cradles - one for work, one for home
There should be two holsters, but I mislaid one the other day, I am sure it will turn up lol.
Would anyone be interested in the job lot? May split the 2nd phone off for a spares sale, but would rather sell the lot as one.
I can provide pics, I will need to bring the 2nd cradle from work, and see if I can find the missing holster / GPS wall charger first...
I live in the UK, but I suppose I would consider sending elswhere in europe. Would be unwilling to send to Nigeria even if were is for £10,000
Offers please
I think you will get your best deaL on on ebay here.
I suggest you list them separately
Might be interested in bidding on the spare one...

htcpedia is showing the "smart" car kit on it's website now. Looks a lot like the old HD2 dock, sans the custom battery door shenanigans. It's a tad expensive, but it looks a little nicer and looks like it'll slide in better than the Verizon version. Another problem is of course, it DOESN'T support the extended battery.

These guys are showing May 16th for release date:

Interesting, but that is far too expensive and released far too late...
"This car kit can not be used with HTC Thunderbolt extended battery"
Pass.
For $60 it had better give me a happy ending every time I'm in the car.
Please note: This car kit can not be used with HTC Thunderbolt extended battery. It only work with a standard battery on your HTC Thunderbolt.

Who proof read their site, a 3rd grader? Looks like the Chinese to English translator was off that day.
I don' see how that mount will work at all, the USB port is on the bottom of the mount, with the phone inserted vertically. Looks to be made for the Evo to me...
I ordered this kit from HTCPedia and the actual car mount looks nothing like the one depicted on their site. The actual kit was made for the HTC Thunderbolt and it supports the extended battery.

It is well worth the sixty dollars. It is quite sturdy and it can be positioned at nearly any angle. I paid one hundred dollars for the HTC HD2 mount, so I was pretty happy about the reduced price for this phone.
I'd like to see some pics as well.
I am under the post requirement to drop links, so you have to copy and paste those partial links into your browser (trakanon.com/Images/*).
Those pics doesn't show the Tbolt hooked up with the extended battery just the holder. It does hold the extended battery. HTCpedia had a video up showing it with the extended battery. The video is long gone. But if you look at the the curve in the back, that's for the extended battery.
Piece of crap...
I picked this car dock up from Newegg.com for $39.99. It's solid and I like the way it mounts so, physically, I love it. However, it doesn't charge the phone. When the phone is in the cradle, it automatically opens up Car Home (mildly annoying, but I guess that's to be expected), but it DOES NOT CHARGE! I'm very ticked off. I've tried it with three difference chargers, one of which is my home wall-wart charger.
It seems HTC is too busy cranking out phone after phone after phone and all the subsequent accessories, that the basic fundamental quality is lost.
I got one a few months ago from htcpedia with the same problem. After playing with the mount, I discovered there was a short in the mount somewhere causing charge to be erratic. Long story short, I got a RMA/replacement and the new unit works great.
I just received and installed the official Samsung car mount. Physically, it has incredible build quality. Both the suction piece and the actual arm look and feel as if they were designed to withstand people trying to break it. The aesthetics are also top notch. Performance is what I was looking for. I no longer have to plug in my headphone jack into my phone every time I get in the car. I can now pop my phone in and leave Pandora running with the screen on without worrying about being distracted when changing songs or draining battery life. The adjustments available are perfect for me since I mounted mines on the windshield. If you want to mount it somewhere else using the plastic dash piece they give you, the fixed arm and adjustable joint may not provide you with as much mobility as you'd need--depending on where you mount it.
This dock is easily worth the $36 I paid for it, that much I know for certain. I have a similar dock from when I had my iPhone 3GS and it looks flimsy and cheap compared to the Samsung mount even though both cost approximately the same. For the price, the dock and charger combo are hard to beat. It's also a lot more convenient to use than a dock that doesn't have the phone connections built in.
All in all, I'm incredibly satisfied with the purchase.
In case you're wondering how it hooks up, here's a youtube link for the T-mobile Galaxy S2 that another user posted. The Sprint version is exactly the same, except for adjustments made to the flexible plastic to fit our phone.

No problem. Be sure to note that it may not fit your phone if you use a case. I haven't pushed the charger yet to see how much of a load it can handle before the energy use by the phone outpaces the power supplied by the charger. Thus far, I've only run Pandora with the screen on a 100% of the time and it still charged the phone a good amount. I'm hoping I eventually get the chance to test out google maps or navigation with pandora running to see how the charger holds up against that type of drain.
i have this, very happy with it so far.
Question: How does the phone know it's docked to activate Car Mode? Is there a magnet in the dock that the phone picks up on like the old DROIDs?
Based on this review, I've ordered one of the mounts for myself. I'll report back when it comes in!

I believe it detects a certain resistance or short across a couple of the USB pins.
Hi All
I was wondering if anyone has had any experience with the following
I want to get myself one of the official Samsung Car docks as shown here -> http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=acjPAunLk_Y
The problem I am having at the moment is that I already have a Samsung Extended 2000mah batter as shown here -> http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5tHvfEtsvUg
Question is will the phone fit with this extended battery or would I have to look at some other solution for a car dock?
i have the car dock but not the battery, but i have read that there is a bit of the car dock that can be popped out so it will fit with the extended battery i cant confirm it but i read it in the q+a forum some where

Thanks ... I was just about to Phone Samsung to check stock and order one
i just had a search through this thread as well and a few people saying it fits. im thinking about ordering the extended battery myself

Extended Battery works like a charm. That extra mah helps a lot. I can get through a heavy days usage and that at 11pm at night it still is on 54% ish
Hence the question cause I would rather get a different dock than use the stocks battery
I both use the original samsung 2000 mah extendend battery and the original samsung car dock and it fits. It's a bit tight, but it fits.
Yea I can second that, it does fit but it's TIGHT
I also have the Samsung vehicle dock + 2000mAh battery and fits great.
However, I have a problem with the car dock: the audio quality through the line out is crap. It doesn't even compare with the upper headphone out; the volume is extremely low and the sound hasn't got any depth. Does anyone know if there's any solution for this?
I'm not connecting the sound yet. I was thinking of getting a Bluetooth Deck installed in my car so then I would just use that but will have to see.
