Phone numbers in address book problem - MDA III, XDA III, PDA2k, 9090 General

Hi there,
I've got very annoying problem. In my contacts i have a lot of duplicated positions (tree times Anna with altered phone number or in various places...), changed numbers from +48xxxxxxxx to 48xxxxxxx so before making a call I have to add "+", changing format of phone numbers from 22xxxxxxx to(22)xxxxx or cell phones like 602xxxxxx to (60)2xxxxx.
Has anyone got idea how to repair that? Other, then exporting and manually editing every position (over 3000 in my address book)
R.

Solved that, by exporting from MS Outlook to txt file fields separated with TAB, deleting all (, ), -, then replacing all strings: "TAB48" with "TAB0048", then importing back to Outlook and synchro with MDA.

Contacts Display

Whenever I save new contacts from my phone, it saves them in the format "Lastname, Firstname". I would MUCH MUCH rather them save as "Firstname Lastname".
I know that this can easily be changed in Outlook for contacts that you store directly from you computer and then sync...but whenever I add someone from my phone, they always end up filed in the reverse order. Plus I use a Mac with Address Book not Outlook.
Is there a registry edit that will fix this? Or even easier...some setting that I have missed that will fix this?
If you scroll down enough, there is a field that allows you to select what display format you'd like.
Isn't that just by name or organization?
I only get an option to view by Name or Company.
I know for WM5 PocketPc Edition somebody had written a small utility called "ContactsFiler".
Does anything like that exist for Smartphone?

Contacts name arrangement

Hi,
as it is, contacts stores Last name, First Name.
I would like to change that to First Name, Last Name.
Maybe some registry hack?
Thanks
WM6, TMOBILE
i think you can do that on Outlook... Display as FirstName LastName
its a per contact thing. edit a contact and change "file as" to how you want it. I remember easily changing all my contacts in outlook on the pc and then syncing it to the phone.

How to manage contacts with multiple mobile numbers?

some of my contacs have multiple mobile numbers, i.e. work, private, car mobile.....so, how can i manage them since wm6 doesn't allow me more than one mobile number for every contact. i know thta i can use inesoft address book, but using this software, once i have choosen my contact,i cannot directly send an sms to the contact, or at least i haven't understood how to.
have you got any suggestion for me.....i'm really bored with this issue, my nokia n70, symbian 3rd edition can handle multiple numbers for avery contact.....
maybe there's no answer to my question?
you cant
heck you cant even do that in Microsoft Outlook
You'll have to make multiple contacts for a single person
John 1
John 2
for each mobile number
Anyway, you'd have to manually select which mobile number to send a SMS to That'd be faster to have multiple contacts.
Otherwise, if it's just for voice call, then just put anything (house, work, etc), doesnt matter.
Try out pocket informant 8, in the contact list it will show multiple chooses, maybe it will fit your need, they have trial version so you can take it for a test spin for free .
It will take some time to get use to but the one handed operation is great to look up contacts and click to dial, blows the contact list in WM5/6 out of the water.
I have used several versions of this, very stable and works great and it will sync with outlook.

Hmmm you cant save multiple entries for the same name in SIM no matter what phone you use.
In wm all you do is create a new contact, and when you do that create the contact as outlook contact...that way you can add multiple number, email, address, etc etc...
I know how you feel; it's a pain to have several mobile numbers for one contact when you want to SMS (voice dialling is fine)
Here is how it can work while maintaining only one contact in Outlook:
- Enter additional mobile numbers in Outlook under pager, car, other (or whatever you fancy)
- When you want to create a new SMS, do NOT start typing the name directly to get auto completion, click the To: field instead (or go through Menu -> Add Recipient)
- This brings up your contact list, and you can now choose your contact and select any of his/hers numbers to send the SMS to..
Hope this helps
I'm not sure what you're aiming for exactly. WM6 has a lot of options for multiple mobile numbers, and AFAIK, Symbian S60 v3 has fewer options, at least on my N73 ME it does.
you can do this by adding the number under another option e.g. home, create new text then select contact through the contacts option rather than typing their name in the to box, you'll get the option then to choose either phone number or email address.
never tried before, i'll test it, thx for your suggestion
it is a real silly problem, in PC outlook you can add private fields, but you will not be able to synchronize it with your ppc. hope we can find a good real solution for this.

People name facebook sync bug?

Hi
Do I have a bug here or am I not doing something right?
I have my People contacts set up:
Only contacts with phone numbers: Off
Sim (0): Off
Google (1): Off
Phone (77): On
Facebook (140): Off
Then in each of my contacts I have linked the phone contacts to the Facebook accounts. All is fine, photos are displayed etc. For some of the contacts, their names are displayed like
Firstname Su
due to the length limitation of when I imported them from my old device, via the Sim. No problem, I think, you can go into the "Linked" screen, and change the drop down for "Select Contact Name" and select the Facebook name.
Now some time later I have noticed that some, not all, of my contacts have reverted back to the shorter "Phone" name.
I could edit each of these names to be equal to the Facebook name, but this was ok earlier?!
I got the same problem. I keep changing their names to their facebook names repeatedly
Yep seems to be a bug with the phone.
Thankfully it only seemed to happen with around 6 of my contacts, so I manually changed their 'phone' names to their full name too.
Thanks, I have emailed HTC Support.

Is there a quick way to tidy up the presentation of phone numbers?

I've worked out why my car kit doesn't like to retrieve the numbers out of the phonebook.
It will display them but fail to dial, because it sees spaces in the phone number, and it fails to dial them (dumb car kit...)
Is there a quick way to go through and remove these and reformat these numbers besides going through my phone book one by one and doing this?
I had similar issue with "+" sign in phone numbers. I'm syncing my phone book with MS Outlook, then I export it to excel. Then you can rearrange in any way you like, i.e. removing spaces. When you done, import back to Outlook and sync back to phone.
Should I be putting 44 in front of all my numbers?
