1. latest jasjar update with patched version
2. reset and RADIO uni_radio_1_03_01 ONLY update with the patched app
3. FULL RESET with POWER+RESET
Mine is back.... have fun !
and BTW ... it's the english one ... from the german version ..
R 1.03.01
G 42.36.P8
D 1.13.53 WWE
NEXT STEP: keyboard
I dont understand 1 thing you said
please explane step by step
ok
works now
thanks
.uj
i'm thinking about leaving it as is because it's not only the Y and Z but all the signs.
so what i'm thiking is more to change only the mapping of the hard keys to the real ones.
or just find a replacement
this would be the best of all ... but now it's too soon to find one.
anyone has an MDA Pro english version dummy model keyboard (if it's like the original but without anything in) ?
OK guys,
Congratulations. Now that your stress is over, could you share your experience with us.
I will be going for my device coming friday.
Can you please give a step-by-step instruction how to change the German to ENGROM, and
how to change the keybord hardware and software/registry?

We do need first a copy of your registry to make the most of the keybord because neither I nor akira didn't do it.
The upgrade has 4 steps:
1. download the patched UpgradeRom exe
2. upgrade the MDA PRO with the latest JASJAR Rom - beware after this it's not usable
3. upgrade with the Radio only version
4. full reset (POWER + RESET)

I just hope it will not sound harsh, but you could have given some directions with, like, where to get 1) (the patched) upgraderom.exe, 2) which jasjar rom 3) which radio version.
I have the "JASJAR_WWE_11353_137_10301.zip", I believe the radio-only-package is "uni_radio_1_03_01.exe", but i'm missing the "patched upgraderom.exe".
Please don't expect we do all know everything, because if we did, we wouldn't have asked.
Thanks once again!

ok... i found the topic -> http://forum.xda-developers.com/viewtopic.php?t=29362
here you go
Ok. Let's try it again.
1. get the JASJAR_WWE_11353_137_10301
1a. get the exe from the zip file - if needed
1b. unzip the exe file to a directory
1c. place the enclosed file MaUpgradeUt_noID in the directory
1d. run the upgrade
1e. it will get to the bootloader only MDA Pro
2. get the uni_radio_1_03_01
2a. get the exe from the zip file - if needed
2b. unzip the exe file to a directory
2c. place the enclosed file MaUpgradeUt_noID in the directory
2d. run the upgrade
3. cold reset - press at the same time POWER + the reset with the stylus
4. for the german keyboard on english ROM
4a. get a registry editor (like Resco)
4b. search the Change the key
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\OEM\Qwerty]
4c. edit - Layout in decimal to 66567
5. softreset
6. enjoy
Thanks!
Well, yeah! That's another story and I really want to thank for the prompt response.
(btw, have you thought of putting the Radio_.nbf from uni_radio_1_03_01 into the folder of the extracted files from JASJAR_WWE_11353_137_10301, and then run the upgrade - I think this could make it in one step, instead in two)
What a nightmare
Finally after reading every bit of advice I have got my Jasjar back up with the new rom.
I was sweating like nobodies business.
Thanks to everyone who contributed to the rom upgrade discussions. I think i'd have gone mad tonight without knowing others were in the same boat.
Great!
How did Akira change his YZ keys? Can you lift them off easily? Or do you have to open the device?

Does this registryhack change the whole keyboard to Qwerty or only the Y and Z.
Does the ENGROM have the Qwerty soft keyboard or is it still German?
Please clarify?

Hi,
> Does the ENGROM have the Qwerty soft keyboard or is it still German?
> Please clarify?
after flashing with the new jasjar-rom the complete keyboard design is different from the german layout.
It is not only the difference from "y" and "z", the complete set of chars like "- / ( ) % @" are not where the are on the german keyboard.
Editing the registry will give you a 100% correct german keyboard - all chars are where they are printed - but with the english rom.

OK guys, thanks for your prompt reaction.
Now if I understand it correctly, the registryhack changes the "hard" keyboard layout back to german (qwertz), i.e. you can leave the keybord as it is and you don't go ripping off keys to put them back at other places.
Does the same account for the "soft" keybord, i.e on the touchscreen? Is it in Qwerz or is this in English, Qwerty?
> Does the same account for the "soft" keybord, i.e on the touchscreen?

Hi,
just checked it ... the hard keyboard is "qwertz" and the soft keyboard is "qwerty".

Hello, i will receive in few days an MDA Pro.
I'm French, and first, i will flash the device with a WWE ROM.
But after, when it will be available, i think i'm going to flash it with a French ROM.
My question is: how remap the physical keyboard ?
I think the keyboard will be a QWERTZ mapping.
But if i flash with a WWE ROM or a French ROM, the physical keyboard will not be mapped correctly.
I've seen the tip for the Qtek 9090 (i'm a 9090 Owner), it was a key in the registry to modify, and it was ok.
but, what is the procedure for the HTC Universal ?
Thanks a lot !!!
ok i've found the answer myself, sorry for the mistake...
@deathknight - please share your knowledge, i want to do the same!
best regards, lutz

Ctrl & Alt
Hi! does anybody know a way to change the functions of the mail button and/or the t-zones button on the mda pro to CTRL and ALT?
Brazilian Portuguese Keyboard
Anyone know what's the registry code for Brazilian Keyboard? Portuguese will to too. Thanks.
Spanish keyboard
And the registry for the Spanish layout?
Let's see if we can resuscitate this threat.
Would be a good idea to post the diferent registry settings for the different languajes.
how did you fix this?
I found it somewhere in the net (may be buzz developers)
Spanish layout code:
Registry\LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\OEM\Qwerty
And the value should be: 68617
Now I only have access to my UNI. Somewhere in my desktop I have codes for other layouts too; I'll post them when I find them again.
just have to change that registry key?

Hello all,
i have read through a lot in the forum and have alerady flashed and tweaked a lot my i780 with my readings of your Forum. (after doing the same for my TyTNII !))
Bravo to all BTW.
I have a French i780 with an AZERTY keyboard.
I have flashed with the DXHC4 PDA & Phone ROM found here. Since then I have a QWERTY keyboard when the physical keyboard is AZERTY
I have tried the registry edition in order to modify the keyboard mapping to 040C code in the 3 locations described in the different posts without success as it rendres inactive the keyboard.
I tried the different combinations etc...
Here are the exact lines :
in hkey_current_user\keyboard layout\preload string default e0010409 changed to e001040c
\\\HKLM\System\CurrentControlSet\Control\Keyboard Layout\Active to 0000040c
Is there an issue with a dll or someting in addition ?
Also, I do use RealVGA in 96dpi with an English pack as the french pack is trashing the i780
Any idea is more than welcome !
Hello the i780 specialists ?
Any Idea what registry key to update ? or which driver ?
do you think a cab like the one for the Kayser can be compiled ?
Thanks
While youre on it, please get us the key for Swedish keyb as well
I flashed with the english ROM as well, and....
I am pretty sure there must be a way and it would be great to know the right registry location - would like to change mine over to QUERTZ as I am having an English rom with a German keyboard...
And ideas anyone?
Thanks
Alex
AE Keyboard Mapper
While we are waiting for better solution the buttons can be mapped to right letters wit AE Keyboard Mapper program. I've mapped my samsungs ä and ö buttons with that and they are working as they should.

Yes it work but i creates a very irritating keybaord lag when using the keys that is mapped with AE keyboardmapper.
Yep, I have seen this tutorial, but I must admit that I am not at all interested in the software emulation. I 'd rather wait for a proper OS / registry / hw solution
No news guys ???
First of all, I'm no export in this and want to apologize for my english, cause I'm german.
Me too wants to change the keyboard layout as I have an english rom with qwerty and want to get back my german qwertz-layout.
As far as I've found out there is an registry entry under "HKLM/Hardware/DEVICEMAP/KEYBD/DriverName" which with my device maps to a dll named "zylonite_keypad_us.dll"
This file seems to be located in the ROM. I couldn't copy it for editing. Maybe someone can develop an idea how to deal with this.

Do you have an I780?
If yes, which of these mentioned steps did you do?
This is not yet working for me. At the Moment the hardware keyboard doesn't work at all...
Edit: So, keyboard is working again. But "z" and "y" are still "swapped". So still not the German- QWERTZ
Same here, ive got an azerty i780, but this tip does'nt work for me
It doesn't work at all
The keyboard is rendered NON active by modifiying these reg keys / strings ...

When I change the settings like that thread, my keyboard stopped working
I use the code: 041d for Swedish.
Mind helping out what I need to do? I followed the instructions from that page but the keyboard just stopped working, the hardware keyb that is.
In my humble opinion the problem is that when we change the registry keys we are telling windows to use a different dll that simply is not there, and so the keyboard becomes inactive. The solution is that someone with a German WM6 gets the german dll and shares it with us.
Regards,
Luís
Before flashing my azerty orange fr i780, i saved HKLM sytem tree, and the dll is the same.
The only difference in HKLM tree is :
\\HKLM\System\CurrentControlSet\Control\Keyboard Layout\Active
040c for azerty french
0409 for US
But doesn't work on my device

Or a Swedish ROM since there are a few of us that would need the swedish dll then
I still got the German phone and intend to upgrade to UK ROM. What dll exactly do you guys need?
dll is : zylonite_keypad_Us.dll
But totalcommander refuses to copy the file

Do you have a registry editor on yout I780?
Then look at: HKLM/Hardware/DEVICEMAP/KEYBD/DriverName
There should be a .dll listed.
I guess thats the one we need. But I fear, as webise said, that you can't copy this file from your windows folder. As far as I've seen this file is in ROM.
Hi,
I've done some searching and tried a few fixes but I can't seem to get the right mapping on my keypad. What I've done so far:
1. Installed Tegic eT9 US English.CAB
2. Used Excalibur eT9 Changer to set to US Keyboard
My keypad works normally but the FN keys like ! are mapped to an AZERTY keypad. Am I missing something? If there are any easy fixes that'd be ideal but I am comfortable creating a custom keymap if necessary (links to how to do that would be nice )
Using WM 6.1 . Any help appreciated.
Here download this, it should fix your problem... Also, restart your phone after installing it...
Here it is
That fixed it! thanks!
No problem man, always willing to help out

I think you can actually install the font file and German input if there is any.
Myself, for example, is using RRE's 6.5 Rom now, and I installed Chinese font and input. Those stuff works perfect.
sorry but i think you didnt understand me, i have a cooked rom from this page and i want to know as i can switch the language file from these roms (wwe) to a german language file.

I've been trying to install Chinese Fonts and input but ended up hard reset my Tilt2 a few times. Seems all the methods that I've tried messed up the key board. I've tried installing the CE Star and that still messed up the key board.
If your method is stable, would you please point me to the right direction?
do you guys think that changing the language in the "input menu" in advanced config can be successfull in my case --> for example, i've got an AZERTY keyboard (french unbranded rhod100) and i install a wwe rom, so in, english, but i want to be able to write an A by pressing A instead of seeing it put in a Q... dunno if anybody will my idea right, bad english sowwy guys!!?
so the rom stays in english but the input has to correspond to what's printed on my hardware keyboard :S
